I will say that the mourn watch background makes so much sense of rook's occasional social awkwardness. this poor fucker had really barely ever been outside before when they were kicked out from home for shenanigans and varric adopted them like a puppy slash poor little meow meow because they reminded him so much of hawke when they were young ssssh that's my headcanon. what's more they were raised by a bunch of fifth house style freaks (affectionate) who also had never been outside before. as baby jesus was laid in a manger baby rook was laid in a coffin. as baby moses was found in the bullrushes, baby rook was found among the shin bones. they may have glimpsed normalcy before once on a sunny day, but only about three degrees removed and around a corner.

considering their circumstances and previous life experiences I think they're doing great at social interactions actually don't worry sweetie you're doing amazing, realizing most people get a bit nervous if you talk too much about skulls and bone saws around them is a great first step! a joke not landing with your audience here and there is detail work we can fine tune at another time let's get some of these fundamentals in place first <- me and varric encouraging them as they're stepping into this brand new world

lowkey i need more thoughts on mammon and sylus and how you think they'd get along BC IT'D BE SO FUNNY

it would be so fucking funny, actually. they really are weirdly each other’s type— sylus being rich and attractive, mammon being lowkey catty and greedy. like… at affinity level 74 sylus says something like “ask for an inch and I’ll give you a mile” and mammon would absolutely fuck with that type of dynamic. both are really free with their affections within relationships, have a huge soft spot for things/people they like, and are pretty like… chill with the illegal and immoral.

sylus would quite possibly be the worst enabler known to man (and demon) for mammon. mammon lost five million to the tables last night? so? that’s barely anything + sylus owns the place, it all funnels back to him anyway. mammon “borrowed” one of his cars and crashed it? sylus would hope so, he bought it for that reason.

and mammon would say that sylus is some chump he’s draining dry but the huuuuuuuuge influx of money sylus’s business ventures have been gaining due to random great fortune says otherwise. and suddenly mammon is asking lucifer for advice on vinyl records, eyeing matching silver (not gold) jewelry, and picking up a few more gigs “for no reason, shadddup”. gift giving is a pretty big part of both of their love languages.

sylus would be a pretty good foil for mammon because he would tease mammon but never insult him. and he’s the exact kind of charming and smooth that would have mammon tripping over himself— which sylus would find charming. they’re also both ginormous switches. there, I said it. they’re schrodinger's tops bc both are very okay with being on the receiving end of the deal— and very giving on the other.

that being said, I think that sylus would be the one more okay with sharing mc at first (because one, two kittens and two, he’s getting his cat a cat, if you will). but mammon is a greedy kind of guy that would take a minute to come around until he really likes sylus. then he’ll be very, very smug about being the lover of two very beautiful, very powerful humans.
