‘change of plans,’ yohan says as soon as the elevator doors ping open to reveal his associate judge. he pivots neatly, trusting gaon to follow. ‘instead of meeting with the financial crimes team, we’re getting dinner with a former executive assistant from saram media.’
‘chief,’ replies gaon, hurrying after yohan as they exit the building. ‘there’s something i need to tell you. urgently.’
‘after dinner,’ yohan offers without breaking his stride, mind moving faster than his feet. ‘if the assistant has credible information on irregular expenditures we can -- ‘
‘i’m leaving the live court.’
years of fighting practice are all that prevent yohan from tripping over the last step in the staircase. he whirls in place to stare down his associate judge, who moves fluidly down the stairs to meet yohan, face resolute. ‘and law, for the time being.’
yohan searches gaon’s stubborn expression for clues and finds none. his associate judge was straightforward to a painful degree, so he can’t parse out this sudden need for gaon to stand his ground.
‘where to?’ he asks and immediately blanches when gaon replies unflinchingly, ‘the social responsibility foundation. jung sunah invited me to be her executive assistant, seeing as the position was vacated by her promotion following chairman seo’s untimely passing.’
‘you mean his murder,’ yohan replies, appalled at gaon’s cavalier attitude. ‘or did you forget that along with the rest of your senses. kim gaon, what are you doing?’
the doors slide open at the top of the stairs, unseen footsteps halting then frantically shuffling away, eager to escape the scene unfolding near the back entrance of the ministry.
‘making a difference,’ gaon replies. he has the gall to find this a complete answer and doesn't elaborate.
‘isn’t that what you’re doing at the live court, in the country’s first truly democratic --’ he ignores gaon’s skeptical eyebrow -- ‘trial in half a millennia. stay here. this is where you can make a difference.’
‘once upon a time, yes, when cha kyung hee was our primary opponent but the game has changed,’ gaon replies. ‘it’s gotten far bigger than us, than the live court. the SRF chooses our cases. our evidence gets tampered with. our witnesses go mum or missing.’ gaon follows yohan’s gaze when yohan looks away irritatedly at this recollection of their failures. ‘i’ve played the game your way but it’s not working. we need a man on the inside.’
‘she’ll hurt you,’ yohan replies lowly. ‘she’ll destroy whatever idealism you have left, manipulate you into compromising on your principles, threaten you with her own hands if being in association with her doesn’t put you in danger first.’
‘that's not so different from the danger i currently face,’ gaon counters quietly.
yohan refuses to feel shame. refuses to look away or cow down. ‘being my associate judge is what makes you vulnerable. gaon, jung sunah won’t trust a thing you say or do. she’ll misguide you, use you, and discard you.’
looking into gaon’s far too knowing eyes, yohan suddenly recalls with abrupt clarity how it felt to squeeze the younger man’s neck while gaon scrabbled uselessly at yohan’s hands, face turning red as he choked before yohan slammed him against the bookshelf in the study.
gaon shrugs but he looks invigorated instead of defeated. ‘maybe so but she can’t be everywhere at once. when she looks at me, you’ll be in the shadows. and when she’s distracted by you, i’ll have your back. yohan,’ he shakes his head. ‘we don’t know what the SRF is planning, only that lives are at stake. we can’t wait for her to act first.’
‘save your heartfelt speeches for the public, gaon,’ yohan grouses, unable to maintain his composure given how fast this conversation is going off track. ‘i won’t let you go. in fact, i forbid it.’
‘you can’t stop it,’ gaon says, expression turning tender as he looks at yohan. ‘PD-nim aired it in an announcement just now. preventing me from leaving will mean contradicting an official communication from the ministry --’
he gasps when yohan springs up the two steps separating them and grabs gaon by the collar, tightly, yanking him in. where words failed violence would suffice. ‘i’ll retract it,’ yohan breathes, eyes blazing. ‘frame it as hearsay and fire the entire production team for their careless mistake.
‘you could,’ gaon says, unresisting, ‘chain me to you, and the live court. but i would escape eventually. seeing me unhappy would affect you. you’ll slip up.’ and his hands come to rest on yohan’s trembling frame, sliding down yohan’s back in a physically soothing gesture.
‘you have some nerve,’ yohan says with a dangerous manic grin, before he hauls gaon in for a fierce and fiery kiss. it’s their first one and the furthest thing from gentle but gaon comes willingly, hot little mouth opening under yohan’s aggressive tongue as gaon practically climbs on top of him, crushing yohan's suit jacket and messing up yohan’s coiffed hair in his greedy hands.
‘one year,’ gaon tears his mouth away to pant, wetly and hotly against yohan’s lips. he presses their foreheads together. ‘one year to find out what she and the SRF are planning. after that, you can get me out of there. i promise.’
‘i want daily check ins and a GPS tracker on you at all times, do you understand?’ yohan snarls and sinks his teeth into gaon’s plump lip, splitting it down the middle and licking the blood that wells up.
‘this is crazy and dangerous,’ yohan pants.
‘yes, yes,’ gaon gasps. they’re in public and in imminent danger of being caught. it’s taking all of yohan’s discipline to leash the animal part of him that wants to claim gaon on the public steps for all to see like a lion in rut.
‘which is why it’s going to work,’ gaon says. ‘now kiss me darling, before have i go.’
‘presumptuous,’ yohan replies but his entire body short circuits at gaon’s intentions, his skin going hot and his core trembling in anticipation.
at the top of the stairs, gaon pauses and says nonchalantly, ‘tell elijah i’ll be home on mondays, wednesdays and thursdays to make dinner. and, don’t worry about maintaining my bedroom. i moved all my things into yours before i left.’
‘or prescient. trust me. i know what i’m doing,’ gaon throws over his shoulder and leaves.

15 Day BL Challenge - The Sequel
Day 19: If you could turn any Non-BL show into a BL, which would you choose?
The Devil Judge. Because why wasn't that series explicitly queer?? Someone explain. None of those main characters were straight. None of them. And the sexual chemistry between Yohan and Gaon was undeniable. Every interaction between them so charged and so were the interactions between Yohan and Sunah, tbh. The way Gaon fit perfectly into the Kang household, he was the 2nd master at the Kang Manor...the digital butler said so! He was Elijah's second uncle and the only person who adored Gaon more than her was Kang Yohan. They were in love and had an incredibly deep connection.
Was there source material for that series?? Is there a novel out there somewhere? Anyways the showrunners knew what they were doing. IDK how that series didn't end with Yohan and Gaon getting married, Lawful Husbands could've been canon. It should've been canon.
Tumblr media
Kei x Yaku: Abunai Aibou. I think the actual source material for Kei x Yaku was bromance too so I'm fairly certain the series stuck true to form but wtf was it bromance for to begin with? Because Shiro and Ichiro were not only professional partners but domestic partners. They lived together, ate together, and then went to work together. They were inseparable. Like we watched a whole love story unfold but it was supposed to be platonic????? Brotherly??? The way they were crazy protective of each other??? They way they went absolutely batshit when the other turned up missing?? The way they confided in one another?? Related to each other?? Took care of each other?? Understood each other?? This series could've slid in a kiss in the final ep and changed nothing else about the series and we all would've been satisfied, it could've been seamless.
Tumblr media
Never have I ever felt so edged on than with these two series. The feelings and the vibes were there and normally I don't care much about slapping labels on things except when a label should be slapped on them...I know most people have seen The Devil Judge but go watch Kei x Yaku if you haven't! I highly recommend both series!

I've got a crack fic wip in my google drive since like september (it's 90% done, I just need a scene to connect the middle to the ending). The idea is Gaon scrolling online forums and basically stumbling upon people's extremely thirsty comments about Yohan ("i need our national chief judge carnally" kind of comments). Then he finds explicit omegaverse fanfic of him and his boss. Reads through it all, half horrified and half intrigued. The next day he goes to work and has to face Yohan while pretending he did not read all that. Of course Jinjoo is aware because she has searched their names on the internet before (who wouldn't when theyre basically public figures), she just ignores it/giggles about it in front of a flabbergasted Gaon. I'm trying to think of how to include Sunah in that cuz duh. It's a crackfic abt kyh thirst tweets.

Hi there
I was kinda confuse so i wanted to ask arent lhh and kdj both one person?(i read side storys) so why people even ship them?? ...i cant find out about why thay like this ship i just feel bad every time see it on Twitter or etc ...
Im not hater ..uh well it wiard but still...
Oh yes, hello. Thank you for asking in advance, I guess this is a common question. As someone who ships Lee Hakhyun and Kim Dokja, allow me to state my opinion. There will be a lot of side story spoilers. In my opinion, Lee Hakhyun and Kim Dokja are not the same person. The truth is that Lee Hakhyun is a fragment of Kim Dokja reincarnated, this is true. But that doesn't mean he is Kim Dokja. As in the end of season 1, there was a line saying that the fragments of Kim Dokja are no longer Kim Dokja, they are separate people living their own lives. If Lee Hakhyun is Kim Dokja just because he was the fragment of Kim Dokja, then all the other readers in this story are also Kim Dokja. If KillerKing and Yerin are both Kim Dokja, why are they brother and sister? If uncle Dansu and Jiyoon are both Kim Dokja, why are they father and daughter? Reader Go Jangwon likes reader Koo Sunah, while they are both readers - fragments of Kim Dokja. Isn't that mean Kim Dokja loves Kim Dokja? I think Lee Hakhyun and the reader's struggle in the side story, is to show that the readers are not Kim Dokja, even though they are reborn from Kim Dokja's fragments. Now they have their own lives, they don't have to live in the shadow of someone else, they don't have to sacrifice themselves so that a more perfect version of themselves can survive. The readers and the Kim Dokja we know, they are separate existences. Lee Hakhyun also has the life of Lee Hakhyun. He is 33 years old. He has a father, a mother, an editor who cares for him, readers who like the work he writes, he lives the life of Lee Hakhyun, not Kim Dokja. Regarding the reason why I ship Lee Hakhyun and Kim Dokja, perhaps one of the main reasons is because I believe that they are two different people, with different experiences, different personalities. And secondly, I find them cute. If you have read the side story then you must have seen, how Lee Hakhyun said he wanted to curl up next to Kim Dokja in ep 4, how Lee Hakhyun said he would be fine as long as Kim Dokja continued reading his story. How in ep 12(7) Kim Dokja told Lee Hakhyun “this is your story”. And how Kim Dokja told Lee Hakhyun “Hakhyun-ah, tell me a happy story this time.” You can see, they are two completely different people, with their own loneliness and efforts to take care of and understand each other. In the side story, Kim Dokja is also watching Lee Hakhyun's story, and he felt sad everytime Lee Hakhyun was hurted mentally or physically. Kim Dokja is a reader, and Lee Hakhyun is a writer. In essence, they are already extremely different. Anyway, this is my own feeling when reading the story. I guess everyone has a different perspective when reading, so it's okay. But I hope you can understand what I want to convey. Thank you for reading. I hope you also enjoy the side story. (This is an artwork I made before the side story cover was out, so LHH's hairstyle is webtoon CIH's hairstyle, but anyway, this is one of the conversations between them that I adore the most. Lee Hakhyun was so worried while Kim Dokja just chilling there telling Hakhyun to do whatever he wants, I think they are really precious together.)

you're not alone
Read on Ao3
Warnings: gaon's canon abandonment issues
Pairings: gahan
Word Count: 1986
He still has nightmares about it.
About opening his eyes and hearing the news that Kang Yohan is dead. About watching the broadcast with Jinjoo by his side, barely hearing her horrified gasps as his world turns, turns, stops. About feeling a familiar sadness, patient and without hope, spreading across the guilt like a moth to a flame.
He remembers the steely cold gaze from Lawyer Ko, the betrayed cries of Elijah, and the quiet murmur of alone, alone, alone. He had no more anchor; Soohyun was dead, a bullet spilling blood onto his hands, his knees, his face. His professor had betrayed him, planted a knife in him and twisted, whispering lies about the greater good. Elijah no longer wanted anything to do with him—as well she shouldn’t, he’s been the one to wreck everything for her.
And Yohan was dead.
So he fell. He gave in to the stupid ideas, the reckless plan, because if he was going to throw himself off a cliff, he was damn well going to try and take as many people as he could with him.
Sometimes he gets left in the box, suffocating and cramped, wondering if this is what it feels like to be buried alive.
Sometimes everyone turns their back on him and he never gets in the door, never gets the chance to atone for what horrors he’s done.
Sometimes he stands there, with a bomb strapped to his chest, and when he closes his eyes all he sees is black.
He wakes up with tears in his eyes and an ache buried deep in his chest. He presses a hand there sometimes, and rubs as if it’ll make it go away, only for it to linger. With his sleep-slack brain, sometimes he feels the burning aftermath of another touch.
Because Yohan wasn’t dead.
No, someone had rushed up in a blur, slammed him against the wall, disarmed the bomb, and asked if he was late.
His chest still burns with the memory of it, of rushing through every possible emotion at once only for his perception of the world to narrow down to how it feels to have this man, alive, in his arms. To close his eyes and for one moment, have everything be okay.
Only to have it ripped from his chest.
He still has nightmares about it.
About being thrown bodily from a room laced with enough explosives to bring the whole thing down. About seeing Yohan’s face as he closed the door, detonator flashing bright in his hand. About how the ache in his throat is how he knew he was screaming as the bombs went off.
He remembers collapsing like a puppet with his strings cut and a small part of him wondering what an apt metaphor that was. Because Gaon had never been instrumental in Yohan’s plans, he’d been the one to mess all of them up. If it weren’t for him, it never would have turned out like this. He was a pawn, carefully molded by Min Jungho and Jung Sunah, nothing but a convenient weak point to be taken in and exploited when the time came and he had comported perfectly.
During one of their earlier arguments, Yohan had almost gotten it right.
You’re nothing but a stray, he had said, a lost little stray looking for somewhere warm to belong.
And here he still is now, alone again in the cold, with his tail tucked between his legs and nowhere to go.
But he had work to do, because his pain would only be felt, not lived, as would someone else’s. So he had stood as tall as he knew how, taken a deep breath, and gone to kneel before Elijah, to explain all the he could and offer himself as whatever she needed him to be.
A friend, a family member, or someone to crucify.
But he had found a skeleton of a house and a map, covered in the last thing he expected to find and something to make the unspooling well of grief into something tangible.
Because Kang Yohan was still alive and he had work to do.
Grief became a yoke, shackled him to a drive for justice and his shoulders began to ache long before the nightmares began to sort themselves into distinct categories.
Sometimes the bombs go off and Yohan really is gone; he sees a twisted mangled corpse and eyes that should never be empty.
Sometimes Elijah screams and beats him, sometimes she looks at him with ice in her gaze, sometimes she cries in the arms of someone who she calls her guardian now, who will keep her away from him.
Sometimes he goes to the house and drowns in all the ghosts.
He wakes up screaming from those, chest burning, skin clammy, and reaching, reaching, always reaching. It burns, it always does, and he never gets back to sleep until he’s too tired to think anymore.
He still has nightmares, but he’s grateful for them.
Because he doesn’t know what he’d do if they showed him what else could be.
Kang Yohan is still alive. He’s with Elijah. They’re safe. Elijah is getting treatment and Yohan is getting to breathe.
But they’re not here. They are thousands of miles away and Gaon is alone. Punishment, penance, justice, even, but Gaon is here in his ill-fitting suits, up to his elbows in trying to make a world that doesn’t need Kang Yohan.
He will always be a hypocrite, because he needs Kang Yohan. And he will always hate himself for wishing in split-second moments, in the dead of night when his skin burns cold, that he wishes he were really dead.
Because then it might be a little easier to be alone.
What he doesn’t know is that thousands of miles away, through cameras installed by paranoia and overprotectiveness, another man sits in the cold glow of a laptop and keeps watch. Over the tears, the screams, and hopes the somewhere, somewhere, Gaon knows that he was never a stray, that he does belong somewhere.
Somewhere, where there’s a teenager in a wheelchair, a warm bed, and someone who will vow to ensure he never feels alone ever again.
Ko Inguk: Your boy is pining.
Yohan stifles a scoff as he reads, turning off his phone without responding and glancing back at the footage. Kim Gaon is doing a remarkable impression of someone who is actively reading something, but the slump in his posture and the way he hasn't moved from the current section of the screen in ten minutes gives him away. He toys with the edge of the keyboard.
"When are you bringing him home?"
"Soon." He's given up trying to argue with Elijah.
"When?"
"Yah, didn't you hear me?"
"'Soon' isn't a date."
He rolls his eyes and clicks over to the browser. On it is the confirmation for a flight to Korea and two return trip tickets. "Are you satisfied?"
Elijah squints at the screen with all the imperiousness of a teenager and sticks her nose into the air. "It'll do."
Yohan opens his mouth to retort when his phone buzzes again.
Ko Inguk: If you don't come get him I'll fly him out there myself.
And again.
Oh Jinjoo: You should really tell our friend about your plans, you know. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.
"Aish, you're all the worst," he grumbles, "I want Gaon-ah to come home just as much as the rest of you, why do you keep acting like I don't?"
"You called him Gaon-ah," Elijah sings and he halfheartedly tosses a pillow at her, "you should say that when you pick him up, 'Gaon-ah, come home, Gaon-ah, I miss you—"
"Listen here, you brat—"
He'd thought his days of being driven to some abandoned building and left in the flickering half-light of a dying lightbulb were over, but when Lawyer Ko shows up and tells him to get in the car, he sighs and gets it over with.
Probably some aspiring politician that wants something, he thinks as he paces back and forth in front of the plastic tarps. A waste of time for them, a potentially career-ending one at that.
A shadow lengthens on the floor.
"You have nothing to offer me," he says before they can say anything, "I won't be another pawn in the games of the elite. Whatever your speech is, you can forget it. Nothing you say will convince me."
The shadow pauses, and for a moment he thinks they'll just leave him and he can go home and—well, not sleep but lie still in the night and hurt, but then they come closer. He barely stifles a groan.
"Seriously, you're wasting your time. Just go while I still have plausible deniability." The shadow doesn't stop. "Listen, it's been a long day and—"
A hand covers his eyes and an arm of steel wraps around his chest before he has time to react, pinning his arms to his sides. He bites back a curse and reaches up—did Lawyer Ko set him up? Was this another plan? Did they know he was here?—trying to grab his attacker's wrist and wrench it away, when—
His fingers clasp a very familiar watch.
He freezes.
Slowly, so slowly, he traces the band as though it would disappear and shatter beneath his touch, relaxing into the hold. As he does so, it softens, no longer a restraint but a gentle support against a solid chest. His head comes to rest against a warm shoulder, the hand over his eyes resting there as his own fingers tremble.
He dares hardly breathe.
"C-Chief?"
No response. He swallows, his throat suddenly dry.
"Yohan?"
A mouth, next to his ear. "What happened to not wanting me to say anything?"
And it's so perfectly insufferable that it could only be Yohan and he sags with the relief of it, clutching Yohan's arm as his feet slip out from under him. Yohan just chuckles, his hand still over his eyes, letting him lean against his front. "You—you—"
"Me," he says with far too much softness, "still getting used to those legs, are you, baby deer?"
"What are you doing here?"
"I came back for you."
His blood runs cold. "M-me?"
Yohan hums. Has he done something wrong? He's trying, really, he is, he's trying to do what was asked of him, he's trying to do the right thing, but it's hard, it's so hard—
"Elijah has been very insistent," Yohan says, effectively cutting off the thoughts, "as has Lawyer Ko, and Judge Oh. So yes, I've come for you."
"Why?"
Yohan pauses for a moment, then he mutters something under his breath that sounds suspiciously like damn you, Kang Elijah, before his grip shifts and his voice returns. "Come home, Gaon-ah."
Oh.
Oh.
"…come home?"
"Yes. Come home to Switzerland, come home to me. That's where you belong."
Gaon swallows. "Can I see you?"
"Depends. Will you come home?"
"Let me tell you face to face."
"You drive a hard bargain, Kim Gaon." And for a terrible moment, he thinks Yohan will say no, will slip back into the darkness and Gaon will be left to chase his shadow all over again, but then the hands are sliding around his shoulders and turning him to face him.
Half-expecting this to be a dream, he opens his eyes.
Yohan looks at him expectantly, the familiar smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Well? Will you—"
He doesn't get time to finish as Gaon throws himself into his arms.
"Yes," he near sobs, "take me home."
He still has nightmares about it.
But now, he wakes up to a low voice murmuring in his ear, a hand rubbing gentle circles into his chest, and a strong pulse beating under his fingertips.
"It's okay, Gaon-ah, it's okay. You're safe, you're home. You're not alone."

I love your episode by episode commentary on TDJ. You have a nice eye for detail and a talent for weaving things together.
Do you have any more thoughts on when yohan reveals gaon's backstory to the public + their argument + the prison reveal? It's the scene I find most fascinating in TDJ because what yohan did was inexcusable. So the viewers get this reminder of how ruthless yohan is when his backstory with Elijah had softened him. It also complicates gahan's relationship nicely.
Hi. thanks for the ask. And I love talking about TDJ cause it isn't just Yohan and Gaon that I'm infatuated with. Its the details that had been put in, as well as how in-depth each character is. So much so that I just don't have the time to go into Sunah or even Jinjoo as well as Lawyer Ko and the PD, Hwaryong, who is also one of my favourites.
The reveal of Gaon's past on such a national scale in Ep 7. It's one of the parts that had me disliking Yohan for doing so. Cause he is clearly using it to advance his own agenda, which is to lend credibility to his report and attack the people he wanted to take revenge on.
But I also think that it's too simplistic to think of it as his only motive. Cause I'm sure Yohan, as smart as he is, he will have other means of doing so that will have been more credible than just using Gaon's backstory.
So why did he choose to do this then?
I think it's all about timing. Maybe he had already found out about the switch of the con-man in prison. And maybe that happened to coincide with his plan to reveal the embezzlement to the public.
And so Yohan had decided to kill two birds with one stone. Cause he knew, him telling Gaon the truth wouldn't work very well. Cause Gaon is easily suspicious of him. Already he had wrongly accused him twice - once for killing his brother and once for believing he had hurt Soohyun.
And Yohan also knows how much influence Soohyun and Professor Min have on Gaon. Look at his words during their argument when Gaon had insisted that the justice system had given the con-man, the due punishment he deserved.
Tumblr media
It shows that Yohan hadn't buy into all that Gaon had spouted to him so far. Hadn't believed that Gaon was satisfied with just a mere 17 years prison sentence for the con-man.
Cause Gaon had told him before that even if he didn't understand anything else, he understood Yohan's anger very well. And if Gaon's anger is that similar to Yohan's who clearly wouldn't settle for anything less than death or worse to those who had crossed his path. How then could Gaon ever find closure with such a light punishment?
And Yohan, he probably have already predicted how Gaon's reaction will be like once he revealed Gaon's past to the public. Otherwise, the prison visit wouldn't have looked so pre-arranged. The guards all standing in a row to greet them. And chanting, 'we're power' like they belonged to Yohan's fan club.
It seems so extravagant and so unnecessary. And after re-watching ep8, I think it's all part of Yohan's scheme to provoke Gaon sufficiently so that he will be suspicious of Yohan, and whether he was the one who had done the switching out. Hence, prompting Gaon to launch his own investigation - which Yohan already knew Gaon was capable of, judging from the digging he had done into Yohan's old trials. And which also shows how well Yohan knows Gaon.
And the most important question we have to ask is - why will Yohan go to such lengths for Gaon?
The only time we see Yohan putting in so much effort, it was either for Elijah or for Isaac's revenge. And Gaon isn't family, so why was Yohan going all out to tear Gaon's skewed view of the justice system and make him see the truth - when there isn't much benefit to Yohan's schemes at all.
And maybe I'm wrong with how biased I am towards Yohan x Gaon. But I take this as a sign that Yohan has feelings for Gaon. And that Gaon isn't just a mere colleague working for him. He has a place in Yohan's heart that is special. Hence, his behaviour that seemed so out of place from his single-minded focus which had all been about revenge.
Yohan going out of the way for Gaon cause he really wanted him by his side. Not as a tool to advance his revenge. But as someone Yohan has a personal interest in.
And that is why Gaon is that one weakness Yohan could never let go of, no matter how many times he had told K he was prepared to get rid of him, if needed.
Hope this helps and thank you for the ask. 😄

are you a dancer?
it’d been quite the while since seira had last been a trainee. she’d been a trainee for two years prior to debut, then an idol until last year, then she’d been practicing by herself, until now, a trainee again. on a probationary contract though. she was thankful and happy she was a trainee again, but the word probationary haunted her, scared her. she was set on giving her all, but she’d also given her all during next gen and it still hadn’t worked out for her. she was scared, but all she could do was attempt her best and work hard.
she wants to work on her rap, but she knows that shouldn’t be all she’s focusing on, her original rap got her this probationary contract, but she needs to show she can do more than just rap. it’s been a while since she last practiced her dancing, it was probably during next gen, she’s not sure how to start again, but she looks around the practice room as she stretches, her eyes landing on joomi. she scoots her way over to the other.
“joomi, right? the name is seira, or sunah if that’s easier to pronounce” her heart beats fast, she’s not the best at approaching strangers “are you uh, busy? i wanted to hear if you’d like to practice dance together?”.
sending it to... @bejoomi

free fic idea
This has been festering in my head but I am not equipped to write OR read it because infidelity is a huge squick for me, but I nonetheless think a great fic could be made out of an AU where Yohan and Sunah are in an arranged marriage of the political kind and she catches him cheating! With a man! That we works with! Who is much younger! And looks like his dead brother! (Emphasis not mine, lol)

for my favorite title, this isn’t a 2023 fic (since i barely wrote this year oops), but out of all my titles, i’m partial to “it’s not just ghosts we’re haunted by”. i know i’m always referencing this fic, haha, but i am proud of it, and the title is somewhat personal (?) for me, as it references being haunted by trauma, and how that is actually far scarier (or more painful perhaps) than ghosts ever could be. i wrote this fic as somewhat of a catharsis for myself, having lost my father when i was 18. i wanted to explore the subject of loss, guilt, and family through this fic. i think i was able to work through some of my own deeper emotions while working on this fic. of course the devil judge is an amazing show that itself delves into trauma surrounding loss and guilt, and this fic was an attempt at a love letter to it, so to speak, as well as my own personal takes on the subject.
- what relationship are you excited to explore next year?
next year i’d love to just be able to write more fics in general! personally, i’d love to write more fics for the devil judge, as always. i think i would actually like to explore more side character relationships, perhaps more sunah and jinjoo fics? i have written one fic for those two, but i’d love to delve deeper into "what could have been" between them, and maybe write a longer fic for the two of them (my lofty dream goals haha). i would love to explore more of isaac as a character, and his relationship with his father and yohan, perhaps more from isaac’s perspective. the guest is a favorite show of mine, and i keep talking about how i want to write a fic that explores a relationship between all three of the mc’s, but only time will tell if i will get to that.
- what do you listen to while writing
so sometimes i listen to nothing, and just write. but at times music really does help. when i write i tend to think of the emotion i’m wanting to explore or convey through my fic first before anything. the emotions i’m attempting to relay then become the foundation for my whole fic. i do find music can help me feel more, and the more i’m feeling while writing a fic the more sincere and meaningful my writing will be. there’s a musician called amarante that i find really locks me into this emotional headspace that allows the creativity to flow while i’m writing.
- fav line written this year, whether it's published or not
asdfdghjjkl so i’ve only written one fic this year, and i had to think for awhile about what my fav line from the fic is, but i’m going with “He takes in the full view of Inguk from behind, entirely naked, rifling through the closet carelessly like he doesn't know the effect his ass on full display like that has on K.” from my k/inguk devil judge fic of course. i don’t feel this needs much explanation haha.
- biggest surprise while writing this year?
i think the biggest surprise for me while writing this year was the fact i was able to actually write more for my k/inguk series. i have a hard time writing more than 2 fics a year at best, tbh. i do actually write a bit more for myself, such as poetry and other projects, that i don’t publish online anywhere. every now and then i just get hit with this inspiration out of nowhere and i just have to write a fic, and so i end up writing everything in one sitting, usually without taking any breaks. the world kind of slips away and it feels like i lose time. when i’m able to write like that i really enjoy writing. if i feel like i’m forcing myself to write it’s not nearly as enjoyable. i was surprised that i was able to have that feeling again this year, and i’m really thankful that the inspiration still strikes now and then. i have a lot to be grateful for, especially the devil judge fandom. i think people like yourself as well as so many other lovely people in the fandom really inspire me with their own creativity or interest in general. i want to say a true thank you to you as well as my followers and anyone who has ever left a comment or kudos on any of my fics, you are all lovely <3
(on a random personal note, i submitted a non fandom related work of mine that i wrote end of last year to a science fiction short story competition this year. i won’t know the results until next year and i wouldn’t say i have high hopes, but i do think it’s a positive thing to go out of my comfort zone and be confident enough in my own work to at least try!)

Note
thanks for the WIP game shout-out!
tell us about your TDJ/he is psychometric WIP! based off your snippets, it's a fascinating premise and i'm soooo curious about what happens!
and then tell us about another WIP of your choosing. what're you excited about? anything that's giving you trouble? what's something new you're trying in terms of writing that's working out?
I suspected you might be interested in The Devil Judge fic ;) It's still in bits and pieces, but it's growing. For those who haven't read my previous posts about it:
Kim Gaon has an uncanny ability to read a person or an object’s past through physical contact. Of course Professor Min wants Gaon to use it and pry into Judge Kang’s secrets. Except that, as it turns out, Kang Yohan is the only person Gaon can’t see through. So he has to rely on indirect evidence…which is confusing.
There will be two parts, the first one will be from Kim Gaon's point of view and the second one from Kang Yohan's. Here's a snippet from the second part :)
...In their year of separation, Yohan seems to have forgotten some things about Kim Gaon. Or maybe it’s something like elective amnesia: he has chosen to forget the most annoying parts about their interactions. Namely, Gaon’s tendency to notice the very things Yohan would rather he didn’t—and to start prying, immediately, instead of feigning polite ignorance, like most people would do.
But of course it doesn’t take Gaon long to remind Yohan about it.
Generally, Yohan wouldn’t mind being ogled when he’s mostly naked, just back from the shower with a very meager towel around his hips—he keeps himself fit, so there is something to look at. But Gaon, still in bed, propped up on his elbow, clearly stares at nothing else but a ragged scar on Yohan’s abdomen. And even points at it.
“Is it from the explosion?”
Doesn’t Gaon know it’s rude to talk of someone’s imperfections? Especially Yohan’s imperfections.
“Ah, this. No. That’s from when Sunah’s bodyguard shot me.” He tries a diversion, hoping for a change of topic: “That’s the reason I couldn’t get to the slums myself to help you. I could only make a call.”
It distracts Gaon for a moment indeed. His expression becomes stunned. “So it was you. You called Soohyun.” After a pause, he adds much more quietly, “I didn’t know you were shot.”
“It wasn’t that bad. Even the scar would have been neater, but I ripped the stitches when I was arrested.”
“Judge Kang is such a tough man. Surely, he won’t need painkillers just to renew a few stitches. But if he does, he only has to ask nicely.” Which had probably meant he should beg. He hadn’t.
Now it all seems almost funny. “It turned out to my favor, actually. They had to take me to the prison infirmary first. It would have been awkward if I bled out right after the arrest. They would prefer if an accident happened instead. An unknown inmate killing a judge who was maybe responsible for his sentence—it would have been a plausible explanation for my sudden and tragic death. But the visit to the infirmary saved me some time. There were only two attempts at killing me in the end. I expected more.”
He’d rather proud of how he’s handled it. He wishes Gaon could have seen both fights at Junbu Detention Center. Gaon had seemed to enjoy how he’d ripped through Jukchang’s acolytes with a baseball bat; that’s what makes Yohan want to brag. But at the same time, with distaste for himself, he recognizes this yearning for admiration…as insecurity. Look how good I am, at least at this. So don’t look at what might repel you, not now, not yet.
It’s deplorable how much he longs to keep Gaon in his bed, like this, unselfconscious of his own nudity. It had been both a surprise and not so much—how quickly things had progressed in that direction, all because of Yohan reaching out to poke at Gaon’s hand with the tips of his fingers and asking, simply to tease him, “Feel nothing still?” As it had turned out, Gaon had felt quite a lot, just not of a memory-reading kind. If he’d ever had a sexual identity crisis, along with other crises Yohan had put him through, a year of reflections must have put an end to it.
So Yohan takes advantage of it, an opportunist as he is. He will have this for as long as he can. But he knows all too well: when humans lose what they thought they had, they lose their minds too, so it’s better not to think of it as something really long-lasting.
He’s both relieved that Gaon is still unable to read his mind—and unnerved by constant anticipation because someday he might. It’s not like Yohan hasn’t warned him of every unattractive trait he has, but there are things that make you see a person differently, no matter if they are incriminating or not. He’s been crafting his image for so long, cutting off all the unbecoming edges, that he can’t be sure how Gaon sees him. Maybe as some mythical creature, something between a hero, a villain, and a vengeful demon. You can have sex with mythical creatures if you’re daring enough, but not a relationship, not really. He’s waiting for Gaon to realize that.
P.S. As for my other WIPs, I suspect I might finish my Doctor Who story first. There will be a lot of angst, as always. And some kinky stuff too :) I keep alternating between fics, though, so they progress a bit unevenly.

14,16, and 18 for the fic writer asks!
14. Favorite fic idea that never came to fruition?
TDJ, politics AU. Yohan was an elected official, Gaon was his bodyman, Jinjoo and Sunah both worked in his office. I wrote a little of it, talked A LOT about it with @thedeviljudges.
16. What is the best comment you've ever received?
Any of the comments on this fic: GREEN HUNTER: PILOT. It was a meme of a fic and every comment on it has made me laugh.
18. Is there a fandom you have wanted to start writing for but haven't yet?
I answered this here! Critical Role for sure has been a major one.

Continue the story: The Devil Judge/Gahan edition
Fellow fandom folks,
We're doing a collaborative fic on A03 for The Devil Judge and Yohan/Gaon and we'd love for you to join. Here's how it works: each person writes one chapter of the story based on a topic we all voted on. You can write whatever you want in your chapter as long as it connects to chapters before it. This is a nice way to close out the third rewatch, get your creative writing juices flowing in a low-stress place, try your hand at writing if you're new, and importantly, celebrate jinyoung's impending return from the military on November 4th!! If 8 people or more join, we'll be writing until then!
How to join: Reblog or comment here if you want to write a chapter with us! Make sure to sign up by Thursday, September 5 if you want to write!!
Vote here: Answer this poll to vote on what our story will be about. Feel free to suggest other ideas. The topic with the most votes will get selected.
Writing logistics: After everyone signs up, I’ll put our names in a random generator to pick the order of writers.
How it works:
Publishing: You’ll have 1 week to read what’s been written so far and write your chapter. Chapters are due by Thursdays at 9 AM KST. I'll post a schedule.
Word count: Minimum of 2 sentences and not more than 500 words. This is a loose word count specifically to keep it chill. Don’t stress about making your chapter perfect. The idea is to have fun, go with the flow, and write whatever comes to you!
Posting on ao3: We’ll post the fic as one story with multiple authors. I’ll help you out when it’s your turn to add your chapter.
Keeping in touch: We can use a Tumblr post to brainstorm ideas and talk story stuff, or, if enough people are interested, I can set up a discord to chat
The goal is to have a good time and see where everyone’s creativity takes them.
Reblogging anyone I can think of to increase reach but obvs don't feel compelled to join if you're unable to. Please share so we can include everyone who's interested!!

15 Day BL Challenge the Threequel
Day 42: If not BL, then why BL shaped? Which Bromance would you remake as a full blown BL?
The Devil Judge. We all know and we all agree on this one. Yohan is a chaotic bisexual. Yohan is Gaon's daddy. Yohan and Sunah fucked nasty many, many times. And if he wasn't so into Gaon at the time I would think he had fucked K a time or two (maybe he did). Sunah, a true girl's girl, also fucked that biker girl she had working for her. And maybe just maybe if she had survived she could've been a thing with the beautiful Judge Oh Jinju, they would've been cute girlfriends. That series was already top tier but imagine how PERFECT it would've been if it was gay.
Tumblr media
Kei x Yaku: Dangerous Buddy. This series could've been called Kei x Yaku: Dangerous Hubbies. IT WAS RIGHT THERE. They legit laid all the groundwork for a romantic relationship. All the emotions were there. They both literally went insane if the other was hurt. They created their own little family. They LIVED TOGETHER! Took care of each other. Have similar trauma! They loved each other and that series did nothing but edge us all on. We need more mafia x cop pairings.
Tumblr media
High & Low: The Worst X. Specifically whatever tf Yuta's character had going on with the dude he was working for. IDK their names, I only watched the movie for Yuta. There was definitely some repressed emotions between them. They literally had such an emotional blow up at the end of the movie. Yuta's character almost died trying to save ole dude (WHO DID NOT TREAT HIM NICELY EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE CHILDHOOD FRIENDS) but I think all their issues really could've been solved with some kissing. I think I just want to see Yuta kiss a boy. Also there have been a ton of Japanese BL actors featured throughout the franchise how could they not make it queer?
Tumblr media
I would've put the usual: The Untamed, Word of Honor, and Guardian but since they were only half-assed de-gayed and the source material is very gay I don't see the point. We all know the truth.
