author ask tag
thanks for the shoutout @vsnotresponding <3
What is the main lesson of your story?
this isn't really for me to decide, but the audience. screenshots below are from a few beta readers from avof! you can read and decide for yourself (ID in alt text!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?
oh man, everything vampire i've ever read. twilight, carmilla, dracula, the anita blake series, true blood, anne rice, what we do in the shadows... but also all my stories have influence from east asian and chinese mythology and culture because i'm a tad obsessed lol
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, or help the reader grow as a person?
in avof, the mcs are mostly trying to survive, figure out who they are, and stop an apocalypse. as the writer, there were a lot of themes i wanted to explore including self-discovery and self-acceptance, found family, accepting that you are worthy of love--and if the readers can learn about themselves or grow as people from that, then that's wonderful. i know i certainly grew while writing it.
How many chapters is your story going to have?
35 chapters plus a few bonuses~
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
it's all original, baby. patreon and substack starting in august/september! follow for updates <3
When did you start writing?
according to my mom i was telling stories before i could write and she would write them for me. my earliest memories of it are writing short stories and novellas in 2nd-3rd grade
Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?
it's rough out there right now, i feel like interaction just keeps getting lower and i'm sure the state of the world and politics isn't helping... but some of my friends and fav writers are @vacantgodling @stjohnstarling @bebewrites @isabellebissonrouthier @sleepyowlwrites @inks-books @garthcelyn @moondust-bard @saintedseraph a bunch of others i'm forgetting... lol
open tag for anyone who wants to!! especially the writers above please i'm nosy ;)

chayscribbles’ monthly writing update ☆ june 2023
☆ STATISTICS.
words written: 13 022
projects worked on: Andromeda Rogue mostly but i've been swatting at Shiny New Ideas left and right with a tennis racket. also i thought about Gemini Heist really really hard and i think that counts for something
proudest accomplishment: AR1 draft 2 is done!!!!!!
books read: After Atlas by Emma Newman; Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson; Exit Strategy (Murderbot Diaries #4) by Martha Wells. all excellent reads. (sidenote two out of three of these books involve murder investigations and the third has murder in the title. i'm sensing a theme in my reading.)
☆ GENERAL COMMENTS.
i am still terrible at being consistent at writeblr-ing. i guess this is just my life now.
i'm debating using camp nano to actually hunker my ass down and get some writing done on gemini heist, but between work and apartment hunting and a possible move by the end of the month i don't know how feasible that's gonna be :') we'll see.
and no i'm not glossing over the fact that i have a finished second draft. i'm just saving my screaming for below the cut.
more specific wip-related comments + featured excerpt below.
☆ COMMENTS: ANDROMEDA ROGUE (draft 2)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(i wasn't kidding about the screaming.)
so this draft now sits at 85.7K, which is about 11.8K added from the first, and although it is still faaar from perfect it is definitely... better than the draft i finished 2 years ago. it's insane how much my writing has improved, between all the reading i've been doing and first drafting the two sequels of the trilogy.
that being said there still are a lot of things i know need to be fixed, but i'm at the point where if i try to fix them on my own i'll be stuck on them forever.
enter the betas!!! i'm planning on doing an ~official~ beta call next week but honestly if you're interested in beta-ing this book feel free to hmu right away!! ultimately i want to self-pub this thing (which is quite overwhelming to think about hhhhh) but one thing at a time :')
☆ FEATURED EXCERPT.
i really couldn't decide what snippet to post so this was admittedly chosen a bit at random lmao. this is from when the gang is approaching their destination for their expedition.
On the external display, Mohani loomed ahead, growing larger every second. The planet was almost entirely a deep blue, except for some white spots at its poles. It reminded Finneas of his final glimpse of Ghillairde when he was leaving it behind for the last time. For a disorienting second, it almost felt like he was returning to his birth planet. But soon, the ship was close enough to see the sandy outline of the continents. The blue wasn’t all ocean. Some of it was trees. He directed the ship towards the landing coordinates just as Petra arrived in the bridge, clutching several barf bags. “Good to see you’ve come prepared, Lacroye,” he commented. “You’re already looking green, and we haven’t even entered the atmosphere yet.” She grumbled something unintelligible in response as she took her place in the copilot’s chair.
one of my editing notes for draft 2 was to make Petra's starsickness worse😆

tag game: kill your darlings 🥀
today i cut away a scene that i was initially very fond of, so i thought it could be fun to make a new tag game out of it. (or at least new to me - i haven't seen this floating around writeblr.)
feel free to make a post about a scene that you liked - whether it be because of the writing or character interaction or even sentimentality - but that ultimately needed to go to improve your story.
tagging: @nectargrapes, @pinespittinink, @jacquesfindswritingandadvice, @afoolandathief, @samplewriting, @nvjackwrites, @theskeletonprior, @authoralexharvey, @muddshadow, and @bebewrites and anyone else who might be interested!
Persephone finds a nest of new hatchlings, three robins curled around each other, like an uncommitted ouroboros. Frozen from the cruel winds, their feathers still matted from eggshell paste. Mother bird nowhere to be seen. Persephone buries them anyway, unsure if animals passed into the Underworld or if permitting such a journey was a gift or mere guilt. Animals would die in droves; humans were not long behind. She fits the silver coin under their statuesque shape, deciding if she was queen, then birds were welcome to fill the lampshade skies of Tartarus.
All who died would return to Persephone when she sat on her throne below.
Part of her reasons that maybe she needed to return to Tartarus now. She cannot remember a time when her husband climbed the mountainside of Olympus, but nymphs had whispered of a helmet that could erase his entire body—turn him into an unseeable whisper. It was possible he attended Olympus at his leisure, with no one clever enough to spot him. A shiver racks up her spine; had he seen her first in the arms of her mother? Or was his word true—and her beauty sentenced her to his chariot that fateful day in the meadow?
With the hatchlings buried and the beasts at slumber, Persephone wades into the starlit spring, the water sharp and shadowed and deep enough to swallow her whole. Hades rests on the rock bed ahead of her, his skull turned upward at the moonless night. She could feel the bite of cold all the way to her bone; but Hades seems undisturbed, so like him. Pain resembled the tender touch of a friend; she tries to mimic the same.
“Cold?” he asks as if he already suspected her regret.
“It’s no trouble,” she lies, pert and shivering with only the faint veil of starlight clinging to her frame.
“You are,” he says, and cuts through the pool, barely stirring a ripple as the water parts through him. As he comes closer, the water starts to warm, his hell-brewed radiance a continuing gift in this realm.
“Better?” he asks once he's in front of her.
She manages a timid nod.

Ten writeblrs you recommend, go!
Eeeee, good question! I went way over ten because I have 0 self control lmao
@gingerly-writing, obviously - her ideas are :chef's kiss: and I am crouched like a little gremlin in the corner of her discord with both hands held out for a finished manuscript to read. GIB ECO HEIST <3
@cwritesfiction - I love their style! Everything I've read of theirs has been super-fun! Come here for all your urban magic and fun contemporary dorkiness needs!
@byjillianmaria - I loooooooved There's Magic Between Us and have it on my faves shelf! And I had the privilege of beta-reading a different project by her feat. a certain two Greek gods that stayed on my mind for a very long time.
@brynwrites - Their concepts are so incredibly whacky and imaginative and cool. Their writing style is so vivid and descriptive, and I often feel like I'm watching a film in my mind's eye when reading their work!
@linkedsoul - Their Lunar New Love story is lovely, and their poetry is just. Soul-chewing. I don't know how else to describe it, but it tears open my chest in the best possible way!
@fluoresensitive - If you haven't read faer work, you really should. Faer writing made me feel things I have not felt before!
@lowslore - Great fun and I love their mind!!!
@bebewrites - Night Veil is such a cool idea and I want more!
@concerningwolves - Fascinating fantasy - plus they're just an all-round awesome person!
@toboldlywrite - Cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi goodness!
@avi-why - Rad queer concepts that catch a fistful of my heartstrings and pull.
@goose-books - Their writing is DELICIOUS, their concepts JUICY, and I will read literally anything they create.
@incandescent-creativity - Their comic sans WIP powerpoint idea is a gift to the community... as she is herself! I want FLOAT!!
@cactusprincewrites - I've been gobbling up his short stories recently! Go check them out!
@asablehart - Just some of the most beautiful, haunting dark gothic writing and art I've ever had the privilege of feasting my eyes on!
PLUS TOO MANY OTHERS TO ENNUMERATE <3 I haven't been huuuuugely active in the writing community on tumblr for a while - my shitty health turn plus the pandemic blues really nuked both my creativity and my socialising spoons. I'm slowly rebuilding, and trying to get to know a few more of the fresh faces in the community - so if you're not on this list but think you should be.... this is your call to shoot me an ask and tell me about your fave WIP ;)
P.S. - if I got anyone’s pronouns wrong, just lmk and I apologise!

I am even more interested and intrigued by your Obsidian Sapphires WIP after reading your answers. Thank you for tagging me! Appreciate it, lots. Will answer for my main WIP, IRIS' L from the B/T Tetralogy WIP.
What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?
Specifically talking about IRIS' L and its' theme of Growth: the main lesson shall be Owning Your Decisions And Learning Accountability. I chose this lesson because it is something my teenhood therapist brought up about little me and I was utterly confused, until I grew a little older and realized many peeps (me, included) are not taught the true extent of this basic lesson. It's usually - own up to your mistakes, decisions have consequences but never really went to in depth. So, I decided to try to portray the toxicity of preteens/teens and what they could consider to better their mental health and lives.
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?
There are two separate worldbuildings and lore. Again, specifically speaking of Iris: my main inspirations for the worldbuilding were SVTFOE (animated show) and Transformers 4 (movie).
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness or help the reader grow as a person?
I think I basically answered this in the first question but I'll rephrase the answer to the later half of the ask. Firstly, my MC - Iris - is trying to maintain (restrain) her relationships while fully embracing escapism. A juggle. Lastly, I do not have a particular goal for Iris, other than to showcase an example of the plot's lessons and themes. I do want to give seventh grade me some grace with a part of her arc, though.
How many chapters is your story going to have?
A number of Stages (Acts), twenty-seven chapters with parts.
Is it fan fiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Original Content! I plan to self-publish it! The platforms will be revealed when the electronic release happens. (But you can also figure them out if you stalk my socials a little bit. Uhhh. Maybe don't? Surprises are fun).
When did you start writing?
Properly? Seven years ago.
Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?
Hm, this is some advice I've given and here is some writer encourangement I wrote down one time. The writers I follow are incredibly chill, cool, very inspiring and/or kind af (a couple are irl friends but they do not have writer socials). I'll write down the ones I follow from the main account (you're here): @/moonlit-sunflower-books, @/ellierenae, @/orange-is-the-happiest-colour, @/ashen-crest, @/wayfaringauthorofficial, @/coffeeandcalligraphy, @/pens-swords-stuff, @/writer-candy, @/ryns-ramblings, @/writing-with-olive, @/fleetingfictions, @/duskyrapunzel, @/istabraq01, @/helenasurvives, @/riaisntwriting, @athenswrites, @/writingamongther0ses, @/naps-tries-writing, @/orangeismorethanacolour, @/kspendragon, @alecsaltylightwood, @/cianawrites, @myheartgoesuwus, @/misswriteress, @/kakiross, @/endless-plotter, @/soupy8lowfishow, @/olivescales3, @/oros-ash3s, @/aalinaaaaa, @/pluttskutt, @/dustylovelyrun, @/abalonetea, @/bethanywritesbooks, @thinkdrinkandsink, @/talesofsorrowandofruin, @/cath-crtic, @/ssnapsaurus, @/ettawritesnstudies, @/tragicbackstoryenjoyer, @/writingandlove, @/amongwriters-archive, @septemberliterature, @the-violet-writer, @mjmnorwood, @bebewrites, @/metaphors-and-melodrama, @owlfly, @/surroundedbypearls, @/harinawa, @yukina-chan, @costi-the-sage. Author Ask Tag
Thank you to @tildeathiwillwrite for the tag <333
What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?
In reference to Obsidian Sapphires (because that’s the wip whose theme and message I’ve fleshed out the most), the core lesson would be to not let ambitions of grandeur, perfection, divinity, etc derail you from the things you have/the people you love, and that even the most seemingly perfect solutions can still cause tragedy. The central identity of Obsidian Sapphires was always in relation to family, personal identity and the Allaitri Chalice was central to Eshani’s goals even from the first ever draft. This draft focuses on the Chalice and its ramifications as a result of it being openly used in society.
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?
A lot of it is inspired by my perspective, my experiences, etc. It draws heavily on certain aspects of my home country, and also some of my own thoughts too. For instance, Helindians being maestros at non-alcoholic fruity drinks derived from my own wish fulfillment! I don’t drink, I’ve never had a drop of alcohol in my life.
It also contains a lot of nature, because it’s a direct contrast to how sterile and corporate the real-world is and I think it really helps make the world very aesthetic, very alluring, somewhere that people would get sucked into and never want to leave. A faerie-style honey trap, if you will.
I'm going to give a specific mention of Morilaste, for it takes a certain amount of its inspiration from Italian art and history. This really became apparent after my visit to Milan and Venice, because I was in awe at the art and architecture. The scale, the details, the artistry, everything. Absolutely stunning. I find that when I'm in or near places like cathedrals and other highly grand, artistic structures, it feels otherworldly. I am awestruck that people made these, that people put funding, time and effort into these grand structures, and we get to benefit from the fruits of their artistry hundreds and thousands of years later. (This is why minimalistic, corporate-hellscape buildings of the modern age break my heart)
And it's that sense of otherworldliness that I want to evoke when designing Morilaste, because I want it to capture the aura of divinity that the court's namesake sought for. I want to use the sheer scale of it to encapsulate just how much of a beautiful, deadly trap it is, and how it contrasts and complements the way ordinary Helindians perceive it from the outside, with basically nothing but rumours and stories to rely on.
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness or help the reader grow as a person?
Alycja’s trying to prove herself to others, reclaim her innocence in the face of those trying to misconstrue her motives. She wants to be loved, she wants to be admired, and her ordeal is coming at a time when she’s at the start of her teenage years, a pivotal time when she is beginning to flesh out her own identity separate from her identity as part of her family. Her arc is one of the most prominent ones in terms of the theme, because her choices threaten a touch of tragedy almost no matter which path she takes. In a sense, it’s a warning to not let others take advantage of you, and also an affirmation that there is a lot of power in one’s own decisions, even in the face of things that are outside of one’s control.
As for Eshani, she’s also trying to prove herself, but more to repair relations with the people she cares about. She knows what she wants, but her arc is about actually confronting the reality of her desires, and her realising that she wasn’t ready yet. This occurs all while balancing the responsibilities of her current place in life, trying to claw her way out without betraying so many people. She carries a lot of guilt, and the message I want to portray through her endeavour is that the past is the past, it cannot be changed, but the next best thing is to do something now, in the present. Dwelling on what could’ve been is what sets her back, and I look forward to the part where her character development fully clicks into place, I think it’s kinda beautiful (and it fits with the theme and her goals :DDD)
How many chapters is your story going to have?
I’ve an estimate of 30, but this could easily change.
Is it fan fiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Original content, planned to go on my blog :D
When did you start writing?
Wow, it’s been ten, going on eleven years at this stage!
Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?
Don’t give up on your ideas! And especially don’t delete them. Stash them away, let them ferment, make sure they’re written down somewhere (and not just on a computer, physical notes are important too). You’ll never know when your ideas may germinate and go full circle. And even if they don’t go anywhere, there’s value even in those ideas just existing. (Side note, people love deleted scenes and snippets!)
I follow so many fantastic, talented, creative writers on here (and I know a decent amount in real life too!), that I would break the tags per post limit so many times over. For the writers that I mention here, consider yourselves tagged for this game, and also here’s an Open Tag for anyone/everyone who wants to answer these <3

chayscribbles’ monthly writing update ☆ april and may 2023
i didn't do one last month so we get a double feature today!
☆ STATISTICS.
words written: 6 214 in april; 9 425 in may
projects worked on: once again only wrote for Andromeda Rogue but did a lot of plotting and planning for The Gemini Heist
proudest accomplishment: i've resisted chucking everything i've ever written into a shredder
books read in both april and may: A Rival Most Vial be @ashen-crest; Planetfall by Emma Newman, and Rogue Protocol (Murderbot Diaries #3) by Martha Wells
☆ GENERAL COMMENTS.
i went super hard in the beginning of april, burned out majorly for several weeks, then went hard again in the last 2 or so weeks. april ended in the middle of my burnout so that's why i didn't have an update last month. it just didn't seem worth it.
i'm also trying to make a soft return to writeblr! it's not working.
more specific wip-related comments + featured excerpt below.
☆ COMMENTS: ANDROMEDA ROGUE (draft 2)
this might be a stretch but the 2 year (2 year?????!?!?!!) anniversary of me finishing the first draft of AR1 is coming up on June 13th... so wouldn't it be grand if i finished the second draft by then? a guy can dream.
right now this draft is sitting at nearly 73K, which means i've almost reached the wc of draft one. and i still have a few more chapters to go!
unfortunately i've also left all the Hard Parts up until now becuase i love to make myself suffer!!!! pray for me y'all.
☆ COMMENTS: THE GEMINI HEIST (planning, i guess?)
well the good news is that i actually have the skeleton of an outline! i have 7 acts and a vague idea of what happens in each of them!
the bad news is i can't seem to get myself to actually write any of it! all i've been doing is anything EXCEPT writing. backstory developing, worldbuilding, creating menial lore... but not a single word added to my draft. when will my suffering end.
i did post a fun drawing + worldbuilding thing tho, if you missed it!
☆ FEATURED EXCERPT.
i'm pretty sure i posted this excerpt from AR already a loooong time ago... but it's gotten a small upgrade ever since. you see, back when i first wrote it, i didn't know how long the gang's trip would take. but then i developed a standardized formula to calculate travel time and just happened to end up with the funniest possible result... which lead to this.
Valyan, meanwhile, plopped themself into the co-pilot’s chair.
“How long have you been able to do that?” they asked, eyes sparkling. “Why don’t your powers look like the Hepplings' from the Order of the Vine? Is it just the healing thing you can do, or can you do other things? Like use the plants as a lasso, or—”
“Look, kid,” Finneas interrupted, “here’s the deal. If you leave me alone for a few hours, I’ll answer every question you have about my… powers. Okay?”
Valyan narrowed their eyes. “How many hours is ‘a few’?”
“Um… seventy?”
“Nice try. That’s about how long it’ll take us to get back to Sayntagnesia. And it’s actually sixty-nine hours.” They grinned. “Nice.”
Of course that would be the one fact they’d remember. “You got me. How about six?”
“Deal.”
☆ TAGLISTS. let me know if you want to be added/removed to any of them.

aodfjaofij what did i do to be included in this list??? but happy to keep the chain going with some recs!
@moonlitinks, MY ACTUAL SUN AND STARS i love her so much??? she's been working so hard on her wip and but is so vulnerable about the realities of writing too <3
@wayoftheghost, is it weird to say i think her wip would be an amazing anime? it's not enough to read it, i need an epic voice cast and ost to go along with it because this wip is inspired.
@lavender-laney, obsessed with her coastal gothic wip, hits all the right places. absolutely sweetheart of a person as well
@maguayans, the worldbuilding is so rich and complex *chef's kiss* the names alone have me spinning, they're AMAZING
@flowerprose, definitely one of the writers i admire the most just for how together she has it in regards to the vision of her wip and what she wants for it.
@bebewrites, there's something so beautiful about her wip, the vibes are immaculate. plus has made some awesome themes/codes for writeblrs to show off their wips!
HEY, YOU! WRITEBLR USER! PLEASE RECOMMEND ME SOME WRITERS AND BLOGS TO FOLLOW, AND DON'T BE AFRAID TO INCLUDE YOUR OWN!

For Kris, Fallon, and Lavinia
1. What’s their defining value, the one principle they would never compromise on?
2. Who would they sacrifice themselves for?
3. Are they a forgiving person?
4. If you could introduce them to another writeblrs OCs (doesn’t have to be positive-could be a fight if you want) who would it be and why?
—@italiangothicwriteblr
Ooh, theses are cool questions, thank you Joy!
What’s their defining value, the one principle they would never compromise on?
For Fallon it's that you can't abandon the people you love. (Her loyalty.)
For Kristopher, it's that promises shouldn't be broken. (But you have to be careful how you word them.)
For Lavinia it's that success is important, no matter the cost.
Who would they sacrifice themselves for?
Fallon: anyone she loves. (but especially Kristopher or her mother, if she could)
Kristopher: Fallon (she deserves it)
Lavinia: no one is worth that kind of sacrifice, but a good cause might be.
Are they a forgiving person?
Fallon is not. She might pretend to smooth things over if she has to, but she'll keep that hurt and hold onto it.
Kristopher is not. He's been hurt too many times to forgive it.
Lavinia is not. Those who hurt her shouldn't have.
If you could introduce them to another writeblrs OCs (doesn’t have to be positive-could be a fight if you want) who would it be and why?
Fallon would love to meet Everly from @bebewrites TNV. I feel like a meeting of the royals would be very interesting.
I would love to have Kristopher meet your Enrico. I'm not sure how well they'd get along, but they have a lot in common.
It would be interesting for Lavinia to meet Niccolo, because they're both plotters and schemers, but Niccolo does it for the good of things, while Lavinia does it to bring things down.

☆゜.* WRITEBLR INTRO  * . ・゚☆
hello! i’m a new writeblr joining the community after about a year of stalking it, and though it is quite nerve-racking for me, our fears are to be overcome, so here it goes.
my name is rei, i’m eighteen years old, queer and neurodivergent. my mother tongue is russian, and i mostly write in this language, though i have no troubles translating my writing. my interests apart from writing include astronomy, reading, computer science, drawing, psychology, playing video games and philosophy.
i tend to focus more on worldbuilding than on writing, and for this reason all of my major wips still haven’t been fleshed out yet. the only work that i dare to call that and that i have finished writing is adunamentum, a short horror story about darkest fears come true. mostly, i write fantasy, but also sci-fi and horror.
it is difficult for me to share anything remotely personal, so for the most part, this blog will probably consist of reblogs. nonetheless, i will try to share some bits of my own writing. if the stars align correctly. we’ll see.
if you write fantasy (especially dark fantasy) or horror, feel free to add me to your taglists!! please reblog this post if you’re an active writeblr, as i would love to see you on my dash.
as i’m new to the community i would love to get to know other people here! i’m always happy to make friends, so my dms, inbox and replies are always open!!
i follow back from @thanataes.
tagging my fave writeblrs that inspired me to join the community, hope you guys don’t mind it! (if you do, message me and i’ll remove you from this post and won’t tag you in the future) // @rhikasa @linariouswrites @llesbianwrites @lord-fallen @gingerly-writing @bebewrites

This was another reminder to actually put myself together and get my story written, so thank you @mjparkerwriting for tagging me!
I shall be using my yet to be properly introduced, or planned, or actually started story idea, How to be the Perfect Daughter (working title)! The idea is that in the process of answering these questions, I'll figure out more of the story, so without much further ado-
What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?
I'm still not sure how to put it into precise words, but I'm playing around with the idea of "the ability to define yourself/choose your future/live your life gets increasingly difficult if the context you're in doesn't really let you do that" or something like that. Currently, anyway. Definitely liable to change at some point, lol
I didn't necessarily choose it, but rather, it's kind of the culmination of a couple of years of mulling over this story idea and changing as a person and the idea becoming more than just a way for me to vent out my frustrations and anger
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?
The real world. My own life experiences, as sparse as they are, lol. Childhood rage from lockdown
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, or help the reader grow as a person?
Daughter wants to be seen as more than just that, more than just a second mother or a soon to be wife despite her entire culture kind of telling her otherwise.
With her, I'm trying to achieve some kind of catharsis. Maybe show people that the proverbial glass ceiling is sometimes there, and sometimes sucks, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't make the most of what is beneath that ceiling
How many chapters is your story going to have?
I'm not sure. If you couldn't already tell, I'm barely even on the planning stage XD
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Original content! I hope to publish it some day, though I think I wouldn't mind if I just posted it somewhere on the internet and called it a day
When did you start writing?
The earliest time I can remember that wasn't school assignments was probably around 2018/2019. I had recently discovered fanfiction and had stumbled across the wonderful realisation that I could write my own!
Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?
As much as I'm pretty much just reiterating what's already been said;
your writing is a lot better than you think it is, so keep on at it!
write out your ideas and your hopes and all the vibes you want to incorporate into your story
write away your fears and insecurities and the stagnation that wants to settle
write whatever your head won't let you forget and the aches that linger in your heart
but just make sure that you write
I remember a really cool analogy that I saw somewhere here that went something like;
your words and works and WIPs that you write down are like seeds you plant in a garden;
sometimes they won't always come out looking the best;
they may not be vibrant or fruitful or even very pretty
but because you planted them, and when the time comes for them to die,
they'll make for excellent fertiliser for the next batch of seeds
and you best believe after all your hard work with the first batch
the next one will turn out much, much better
and the one after that, and forever
so make sure you plant your seeds!
Gently tagging: @the-ellia-west @the-stray-storyteller @aalinaaaaaa @hero-coded
@blackwood4stucky @bebewrites @hayatheauthor @agirlandherquill
@ashwithapen @friendlyshaped @dendotdrabbles @cupandquillcafe
and of course, any other writer who's interested!
author ask tag
Thank you @the-inkwell-variable for tagging me. I had to think hard on these answers.
I'll use my current WIP for this. It was once called TLBH. Now, its WotG. We will see if it changes again.
What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?
I think the main lesson would be that there's always something bigger than you, and sometimes you have to decide whether or not that something is great enough for you to change as a person. My characters go through and will continue to go through a lot. They are constantly tested and while some of them rise above it all--no question about it, others struggle with every step. Some are never able to stand up at all.
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?
I used the real world as inspiration. I really like history and religion, so I studied tons of cultures and languages and historical events. I have a lot of mythology, history, and religion/philosophy books and links saved because I'm just so fascinated with how everyone sees and understands things differently.
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, or help the reader grow as a person?
It is multiple POV, but without giving away too much, I’d say that every character is searching for purpose and acceptance in one way or another. I think I, as the writer, want to show how motivations change as we change as people, and that's okay. I want to tell a story that inspires people to love, change, fight, and live.
How many chapters is your story going to have?
I'm currently looking at a series with five books total. This first story will have 35-36 chapters.
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
All OG. I want to publish traditionally, but we'll see what happens.
When did you start writing?
Since I could string together semi complex thoughts and also hold a pencil lol. I've always liked writing. I started writing fanfics some time in high school, maybe around age 15. If you want to get technical, though, my first fanfiction was in elementary school and it was about young Jack Sparrow before he became THEE Jack Sparrow.
Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?
WRITE! Who cares if you think it's ass?
Write the story you always wanted to read but could never find.
Talk to other writers. Make friends. It can be very lonely, but having people that understand what you're doing and are also going through the same process is helpful.
I'm still working on the last one.
I follow a ton of writers on here, so I think I'll tag a bunch of people just for the hell of it.

hey harls! any tips on setting out/starting a writeblr?? also writeblr theme recs?? because i am Completely New to this.
wassup nonnie!! thank you so much for coming to me :)) i’ll try to help as much as i can!!
have a unique username!! they’re easier to remember as they are uniquely your’s. maybe something that’s special to you, a song title, a character name, etc. the choices are endless (unless someone has that url saved then rip)
themes recs!! okay some theme blogs to go to: @enchantedthemes, @bebewrites, @atelierwriting (tris has one code but i will promote her), @glenthemes, @kconet, @skyofrp, @pirateskinned, and @seyche!! there are plenty of themes to pick from on tumblr!!
organising your blog!! things in a writeblr that i find useful include i. a navigation page; ii. an about page; iii. a wip page. let me break it down for you.
navigation page!! so basically you link everything in here, i always go to this and i find this page super helpful! if you want coding help feel free to ask, i started out being a dumbass and now i can do basic coding lol. remember to have a tagging system too!!
about page!! i love about pages, it defines how i see this person and i get to know the person behind the blog more <3
wip page!! i love love love wip pages, it breakdowns your wip into basic info and i get to know more about your work! this is not necessary but i appreciate writeblrs with wip pages
introduce yourself to the community!! we’re all friendly here and we would love to get to know you!! introduce yourself with a intro post, let us know who you are, tell us about the weird fun quirks, join discord servers, there’s a lot of ways to start out!! lemme promote @welcometowriteblr real quick, now this blog is amAZING!! if you need help you can go there and someone will definitely jump to help :))
introduce your wip!! your work is important too and i would suggest you post your intro and wip intro at the same time, this way when people get to your blog they get some content to look at!! tell us about your wip: title, characters, synopsis, themes, genres, etc. remember to have a unique tag for your wip in your blog so it’s easier to track and organise!!
get to know writeblrs!! tagging the writeblrs you like will boost your writeblr and may lead to friendships <3 i will tag some recs (mutuals) that i adore and admire: @honeywharf, @tarttisms, @ikilledmyocs, @acrimoneous, @atelierwriting, @sunsetspells, @lousyloved, @yikescomma, @summersromance, @elizaabennet, @writemares, @endymions, @kiesinger, @priyaele, @songsofaleria, @austrohungarianwriteblr, @starshots, @rcvolutions, @sautrns

any tips on starting a writeblr?
have a main wip that you’ll be posting and creating content for or a few wips, to include in your writeblr introduction, so that people have an idea of what kinds of things you write. it’s a good way to get people interested in your work + find people who want to be added to your taglists (lists of @’s/people to tag in posts about certain wips etc. / your general writing if they want)
make a writeblr introduction (a post introducing yourself + your wips to the writeblr community)! this can include as much or as little information as you want. this is a good way to join the community, if you’re new / returning to writeblr
things that would be good (but optional) to include in your introduction are: preferred name + pronouns, age if you’re comfortable, genres you like, a main wip or a few wips that you’re working on at the time, and a one time tag of writers that you like / look up to / v cool people who inspired you to make a writeblr etc.
brush up on writeblr etiquette! undine (@pens-swords-stuff) has a straightforward + to the point post on it here.
an accessible desktop blog theme is really helpful too! @seyche + @bebewrites both have a lot of lovely themes that work well as for writeblrs, and i recommend you check them out if you’re looking for a theme.
