hi there, writeblr! i’ve been inactive for a long time (1+ years probably) and want to get back into the writing community here, so consider this my brand new introduction.

i’m tris, 20+, perpetually sleep-deprived, and the best at writing when i say i’m not and not writing when i say i am. i like to read, listen to music, play video games, and write. i’m also on twitter at @/triswrites.

island of the sun: wenyu dreams of monsters. 

every living creature has something to fear. she has to remember this, if she is to survive. fantasy. peter pan meets the little mermaid.

cranesong: a prince, a thief, an assassin, and a liar walk into a bar. only one of them is who they say they are. this is the land of gods, monsters, and mortals. watch your back.

at the top of the tower of cranes is an untold treasure. whoever reaches it first will be pardoned for their crimes and freed from the prison. but for four, what they seek goes beyond the so-called treasure. they have nothing left to lose. at the top of the tower rests their future, no matter what it may be. fantasy. rapunzel meets tower of god.

— A short story retelling of Pygmalion and Galatea set in the Decadent Era and inspired by Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Perfume: the story of a murderer.

When a single drop of blood falls into a sea of foaming sapphire and azure hues, a monster of beautiful destruction is created. The Birth of Venus catalyses within its sweeping strokes, an even greater beauty that it beholds; but even from the same likeness of the goddess, the Mériadec portrait outshines its predecessor both in aestheticism and in gore. At an Italian gallery exhibit in the year 1817, French portrait painter, Pascal Mériadec, is challenged by scornful critics to commission a portrait more beautiful than Venus herself. With each brush of paint upon his canvas, Mériadec slowly begins to fall obsessively in love with the woman in the frame; spending every waking hour with the girl whom he has named Eglantine, the Lady of Cyprus. Filled with the desperate desire for the love he shared with Eglantine to be real, the artist would do anything in his power to bring her to life, even if it meant leaving death in his wake.

Eternity appears to be a rather long time for punishment, no matter how malicious the criminal was, however, in her liminal state drifting between immortality and mortality, the Empress didn't care, rather she loved it. The Duchess of the Netherworld floats between beautiful places, corrupting them with her presence, rendering victims mad only for her mere entertainment. And when she tires of her station, she finds herself a new arena for her twisted games, each time a new setting that she has only dreamt of in her eternal torture. She does not greet you as you are welcomed through the entrance of The Winter Anarchy; an opera house of such opulence and decadence so uncommon to mankind. The vestibules of hell embrace your tortured and devious soul and you are welcomed like the mad sinner that you are. You are not dead though, not quite yet at least. She has saved you from such a fate for now and you really ought to thank her for her ill intended grace. You are a puppet, merely here to play a game… her game. Win and you shall be graced with the eternal glory, freedom and power of beings such as she is but lose and you must pay the most treacherous price for every drop of unholy blood running through your veins.

the year is 1963, the very heart of the cold war, and the world’s two feuding superpowers have found a new playing field: mars. and, rumor has it, the red planet hides a weapon that could turn the tides of war. amnesiac orphan-turned-secret agent viola lestrange soon finds herself brought into the fold of an interplanetary organization created to keep the delicate balance between nations, forced to work with those she once believed her enemy.

after dying in a car accident, an office worker wakes up in the body of orfea, a character in the mediocre novel she read the day prior. the only trouble is, orfea’s page time is as short as her temper. to avoid her death at the hands of the villain she serves, she finds herself an unwitting ally to lynette, the seemingly spineless protagonist she once despised, and to jude, the knight lynette has always left behind.

a re-introduction of sorts

i think it is worth noting that impulsivity and the creation of my ideas, especially those that eventually - inevitably -  find their way from my brain to a page, are dependent on each other. if i were to chart these points on a graph, the frequency would be seen as clear as day. i like to preface any prompt with the relative thought that began it all, and that for me is the key that is inspiration. replace idea with activity and the chart remains the same. i am often moved to productivity when a certain piece of media hits the right points in my heart and side of my brain to make my soul soar. the soaring presents itself in my medium of expression: writing.

so what led me here, in front of you now, on this tumblr i made and abandoned months ago?

an awakening

ages ago - and by that i mean this previous summer, do not question the passage of time in my writing ever again - i was determined to start a blog of my own. if you’re no stranger to my platform, then you know i write fantasy for fun. imagination has always lent me the tools and ideas to supplement the expansive plots that i dream up in a haze of insomnia, supported then by pinterest boards and orchestral tracks. i am the type to be moved to read after writing something that has torn what is growing from my heart to my fingertips. i am the type to be moved to write after reading something that has changed the chemistry of how i consume media. this cycle alone ensures my own interest in the genre, trapping me in a maze of exploration i don’t even care to escape. i like the ring that a blog has - its intimate shelf life, my private practice. this would be the place that my words will lay to rest. somewhere, hidden under code and traffic, to bleed the words that never make their way into my prose. someplace where my words are fashioned in the order and tune that i speak. an exploration of self and mind and matter.

and now i find myself here, right back where i started. i wrote one blog post that summer, detailing my position on the scale of romantics - as in romance for life and indulgences. perhaps i’ll unearth that prompt from the buried template of my old website and let it see the light of day. in any case, what i’ve noticed is that my literary voice is miles more refined than it was when i first started writing. i like to imagine that it is blooming well underneath my intentions, with surprise, with hope, with pleased satisfaction once i’ve found it. i don’t think i’m profound or a master of craft or of the talent to consider myself an essayist on romanticism. but i am passionate. and i like to talk about my silly little stories. who else is going to write detailed analysis of the intention behind my line edits and the self-induced brainrot that leaves me reeling?

so hello. it is nice to find myself returning and re-centered. this blog will take through one novel at a time, following a drafting process that blooming and withering before our eyes.

hello writeblr! I’ve been a part of the community on/off for almost a year now! due to remaking my main blog and my writeblr, I thought it would be appropriate for me to write a new introduction post!

— ABOUT.

my name is annabelle (she/her), and I’m a korean-american 18 year old biology student! 

my writeblr is a sideblog, so I follow back from @liliantha, which is my literature blog​. 

I’m an inconsistent writer who does this as a hobby and a way to dream things that are extremely unlikely to happen to me.

I am a huge, huge lover of romance, and it’s the main genre I write for. some of my favorite tropes to read and write about are friends to lovers, childhood friends, (mutual) pining, and angst.

— WIP: THE PATH IT TOOK TO FIND YOU.

I currently only have one wip, and it’s still in it’s very very early stages! it’s my first major work, so to say I’m struggling a bit is an understatement haha. i. hate. worldbuilding. that is all.

since moving to this new blog, I’ve decided to scrap all the progress I’ve made on the characters in favor of revamping the story with a new cast. the path it took to find you (tpittfy) will now feature all east-asiatic looking characters, and their surnames have been changed to reflect that (they’re still under construction though so please don’t judge too harshly haha; I’m also open to suggestions!). I was tired and discouraged with the lack of asian representation in romance, which is why I made the change.

the path it took to find you is a romance novel featuring some fantastical traits, such as soulmates and soul marks. it’s set in the fictional country of rhozia, and follows the rather complicated love lives of the yeong royal family. it’ll feature plenty of angst and love triangles and pining and slowburn romances.

#THEWRITEBLRHIVE is the writeblr family of 1 lucky bastard named @tsainami. Who! Has had the funnest few months writing with her hive family. That’s me, by the way. I’m @tsainami (aka Sai). For a few months now, my family has been running a variety of events in our tiny lil fam server. And what have we gotten out of it so far? Only thousands upon thousands of words written as we’ve competed against each other (not as aggressively as this might sound) repeatedly. There’s been a reward system. Our bees have won things like book covers, audiobook snippets & - most importantly! - server trophies for the Brag! Even now, we’re still working on finishing full drafts.

Can you imagine? Even now -  September, month of stressful semesters - we’re still kicking!

Why am I telling you this, you might wonder? Well! It’s because we’re bringing some of our events up here on writeblr live. You can expect many things from us. And the best part is: it won’t be too much - as we plan these things keeping every one’s busy schedules in mind.

hello, I'm eden! I used to be on writeblr from around 2018 to late jan, but left on a whim since I wasn’t in a good place at the time. thankfully I’m feeling much better now, and after simultaneously writing eleven unfinished chapters + one prologue while gone, I decided it’s time I make a comeback!

a little about me:

my main blog is @melpomens. I go by she/her pronouns & am also a minor. some things I love include film photography, 80s songs, timothee chalamet, and singing along to broadway musicals. hmu if you have any song recs or just wanna jam!!! the first book I ever wrote was when I was about four or five. it was about this girl whose mom died from cancer, & she and her dad grew close(r) over a hidden garden her mom really loved. hence, you can guess I started writing stories from a very young age haha (including a les miserables ripoff and this one tale about a super-bunny, but we don’t talk about that). the book I’m working on right now is one that I’ve been rewriting, updating, stressing over, and coming back to since 2017. its cross between fantasy & diesel-punk means there’s a lil 1940s aesthetic going on, which, I adore a lot tbh alsoooo I wasn’t gifted with the art of making sick edits (seriously tho yall are too talented) but hopefully my writing will make up for that :’)

Forgotten Sun | ya fantasy / diesel-punk set in a world where war has been the norm, our main protagonists find themselves thrown into a pursuit of overthrowing the grand emperor of their time, all the while solving clues to find a forgotten, and long-awaited, savior.

are we pawns of the universe, or do we hold the world in our hands? in a world inspired by imperial china where time has different constraints and reality is an illusion, there is a boy lost in time and a girl lost in her imagination. few in the land are able to affect reality, much less the reality of others—but zhen fei and shi ruwen find themselves to be exceptions of the majority. yet knowledge can be deceitful. events that have already occured have not occured yet, and people are disappearing off the face of the earth with no trace. before long, fei and ruwen find that they are entangled in a game far larger than themselves: a scholar who knows too much, an heir to the throne who seems out of place, a long-lost friend, and at the heart of it all—a reverie of reality and time.

When she finds out that she's to be married off like cattle, she runs away from home and enlists in the army, determined to have the life she wants. As she delves deeper into the mysterious workings of bloodshed and battle, she grows closer to the Crown Prince, Wang Shengzi, and a fellow soldier, Li Keming. When she looks farther into the lies of the gleaming palace and the truths of the grimy streets outside, however, she discovers more and more about the war that could potentially change the nation.

(idk how to write summaries, but basically, it’s a retelling of mulan AND hades and persephone that takes place in a world based off of ancient china! i started it for nanowrimo and i’m still in the process of writing it!)

(ok well, this one is a retelling of the myth of theseus and uhhh, not explicitly in the summary but it’s faeries!! there’s faeries!! they’re faeries!! and i haven’t written any of this story yet, i just know the basic plot so far bc i bs everything rip)
