hello writeblr! I’ve been a part of the community on/off for almost a year now! due to remaking my main blog and my writeblr, I thought it would be appropriate for me to write a new introduction post!

— ABOUT.

my name is annabelle (she/her), and I’m a korean-american 18 year old biology student! 

my writeblr is a sideblog, so I follow back from @liliantha, which is my literature blog​. 

I’m an inconsistent writer who does this as a hobby and a way to dream things that are extremely unlikely to happen to me.

I am a huge, huge lover of romance, and it’s the main genre I write for. some of my favorite tropes to read and write about are friends to lovers, childhood friends, (mutual) pining, and angst.

— WIP: THE PATH IT TOOK TO FIND YOU.

I currently only have one wip, and it’s still in it’s very very early stages! it’s my first major work, so to say I’m struggling a bit is an understatement haha. i. hate. worldbuilding. that is all.

since moving to this new blog, I’ve decided to scrap all the progress I’ve made on the characters in favor of revamping the story with a new cast. the path it took to find you (tpittfy) will now feature all east-asiatic looking characters, and their surnames have been changed to reflect that (they’re still under construction though so please don’t judge too harshly haha; I’m also open to suggestions!). I was tired and discouraged with the lack of asian representation in romance, which is why I made the change.

the path it took to find you is a romance novel featuring some fantastical traits, such as soulmates and soul marks. it’s set in the fictional country of rhozia, and follows the rather complicated love lives of the yeong royal family. it’ll feature plenty of angst and love triangles and pining and slowburn romances.

SYNOPSIS ―

the cornish town of st. issey’s cove, tucked away off the beaten tourist track, has one thing that draws in visitors: the old lighthouse museum. it houses a collection that spans the breadth of human history and the girth of the world, with one thread tying each artefact together: an unexplainable story.

join head curator laurie caston as he delves into the museum’s artefact storage, dredging up stories from the past and debris left on the beach below the lighthouse ― there are stories wrapped around every beam of the building, choking, clamouring for release in every creak of every floorboard. it’s just his job to tell them.

( the lower light is a horror podcast inspired by welcome to nightvale, the magnus archives, and the penumbra podcast. it’s most likely going to be my nanowrimo project this year, and the first five / ten episodes could act as a standalone horror anthology )

hello, I'm eden! I used to be on writeblr from around 2018 to late jan, but left on a whim since I wasn’t in a good place at the time. thankfully I’m feeling much better now, and after simultaneously writing eleven unfinished chapters + one prologue while gone, I decided it’s time I make a comeback!

a little about me:

my main blog is @melpomens. I go by she/her pronouns & am also a minor. some things I love include film photography, 80s songs, timothee chalamet, and singing along to broadway musicals. hmu if you have any song recs or just wanna jam!!! the first book I ever wrote was when I was about four or five. it was about this girl whose mom died from cancer, & she and her dad grew close(r) over a hidden garden her mom really loved. hence, you can guess I started writing stories from a very young age haha (including a les miserables ripoff and this one tale about a super-bunny, but we don’t talk about that). the book I’m working on right now is one that I’ve been rewriting, updating, stressing over, and coming back to since 2017. its cross between fantasy & diesel-punk means there’s a lil 1940s aesthetic going on, which, I adore a lot tbh alsoooo I wasn’t gifted with the art of making sick edits (seriously tho yall are too talented) but hopefully my writing will make up for that :’)

Forgotten Sun | ya fantasy / diesel-punk set in a world where war has been the norm, our main protagonists find themselves thrown into a pursuit of overthrowing the grand emperor of their time, all the while solving clues to find a forgotten, and long-awaited, savior.

do you have any tips on how to start a writeblr, specifically how to meet more people and make some cool mutuals? :D i wanna start a writeblr but i don’t know anyone from the community and i feel like it’s not as fun without friends :(

ok so hey, first of all, i’m not good at articulating my thoughts well but here it goes -- there isn’t any one way to start a writeblr. when i’d started mine, i lounged around idly for a couple of months reblogging things from other writeblrs. when i finally mustered up wits to post an intro, some writeblrs reblogged and boosted it so that’s how many people found my blog. but like, at the beginning, i was clueless enough (don’t you dare laugh) to ask @semblanche what a taglist was because i was confused about why everyone was asking to be on it. so yeah. i’m gonna jot down a couple of things you should do if you want to like join the community under the cut since this is getting too long and you should all be saved from making the same mistakes i made at the start. and of course, some tips on networking around the community and finding new mutuals!

1. make an intro post. so the one thing i’ve learnt after changing blogs twice is, make an intro post you are satisfied with. it can be simple one, a text post where you use the header option to announce your writeblr (ex. if i were to make an intro, i’d say kalki’s writeblr) and then i’d put in my name, the kind of stuff i like to read, the kind of stuff i like to write and the wips i am writing. point is, it should be something you like, something that tells something about you. like the first time i did this, my intro said: this girl doesn’t know what she’s doing. the second time: she’s being too pretentious, move on people. so on and so forth. some people prefer using fancy images (i am some people) to introduce their blogs with an image post instead, but you’re fine with or without. one thing you should keep in mind is to like tag a few of your favorite blogs. i didn’t do this the first time round because i wasn’t sure what exactly i was doing but you should all know that if you tag your favorite blogs, then those blogs will (mostly, sometimes mentions mess up like it does with me and tumblr doesn’t notify you about being tagged) definitely reblog and boost it. that way, a lot of people will, if not engage with you, then at least know of your existence. here’s my intro post for this blog, if you want. it’s not very, um, formal because i was sleepy and thought it was funny. 

2. don’t be discouraged by the amount of notes on your intro. listen, i know we’d all feel bad if we had like 7 likes and 2 reblogs alright but don’t be discouraged. i mean now that i go back, my intro post has only about 36 notes. it really just depends on the timing. however, when you start posting content, those 10 people who’ve interacted with your post will like it and will reblog it for everyone to see and when people start seeing your content, they get interested and slowly, you’ll have more people to interact with and more people will discover your content and i think what i’m trying to say is that, the note count does matter but don’t be discouraged if it isn’t enough. it’ll take time but you’ll find a solid footing really soon, writeblr’s a really warm engaging place minus the anon hate people get sometimes. (see: @inheriting. all queen elle did was breathe, guys.) 

3. interact with other people and their content. so yes. it’s not a one side deal. if you want people to find your blog, you’ll have to start looking for more content too. when you see something good, reblog it or comment on it or even send an ask telling them it’s god tier content. that stuff makes up half the amount of serotonin in our brains. seriously. there’s nothing writers like more than people reblogging their posts with incoherent screaming or coming into their asks to tell them something they think is funny. you could even post something like: hey, i’m a new writeblr and i’m looking for content like (enter the genres or tropes you prefer) and if you have wips similar to this, then pls reblog this with their tags. i wanna start engaging more. something like that. yeah.

4. message other writeblrs? ok so this is a thing that i would not recommend doing ONLY because sometimes everything gets lost in my notifs and i don’t see messages for days and i know other writeblrs probably face this too. tumblr automatically reads them and doesn’t lmk and stuff like that. and secondly, most of us don’t really, like, answer dms all the time. sometimes i got something important to say so i’ll go to minnie @medusaswrites or to chel @starshots and scream about it and then when the topic of conversation closes, and it gets awkward (i do this so many times you don’t even know) we go back to ghosting private messages and instead blasting each other’s ask boxes with love. that’s just how this stuff works. but there are plenty of writeblrs who aren’t awkward with private messaging and they will LOVE to talk to you so there’s also that. honestly, i don’t know where i’m going with this so i’ll stop now. 

5. graphics and other things. ok so the main part, and the most important part, about a writeblr blog is the writing. so you’re a good writer, you’re a great writer. that’s not all though. sometimes you need to organize your blog. you use coded tags like tags for a particular character (say, my character tag for katya is oc: katya) and tags for a particular wip and inspo tags, resources tags, aesthetic tags, etc. this helps you organize your blog better. and finally, look, i know most people can’t do photoshop, either because it’s too expensive or too complicated and i get it. photoshop isn’t required honestly, there are tons of other things you can use. what mostly attracts attention is how attractive a blog can be. the layout for your blog for one. the picspam for your wip intro. that sort of thing. they are a couple of apps on phone that are free to use like picsart and canva (it’s on web too and honestly, the one thing you should use. it’s not like photoshop but it does the job and it does the job really well. if you want to ask someone about canva, you should go to raye @vigilantscar. she isn’t a writeblr but she’s good in that department.) also, if you’ve got something to ask about layouts or simple intro post demos and arrangement or the kind of pictures you should choose for them then slide into my dms, i’ll be happy to help.

i think that’s all? like true, writeblr isn’t fun without friends but this community is so nice and open that anyone can join anytime and you’d feel welcome. i also feel like i’ve not been able to get a few points across without sounding ignorant/awkward? or like i might have forgotten a few things? but honestly, i just woke up. also, i’m gonna tag a few blogs here that you should check out for good content in no particular order: @starshots @medusaswrites @carumens @vandorens @liarede @aelenko @inesnenci @kiesinger @medeaes @noloumna @emdrabbles and @inheriting. there are tons of other writeblrs with good content that i’m pretty sure i, with the memory of a goldfish, forgot to mention but. yeah. if you ever get round to posting an intro, tag me! i’ll be happy to interact!

......I’ve never actually made an introduction for this blog I don’t think, so hi, welcome!

I’m nox, AKA @noxstories or @vciious !! I’m 17 years old (very nearly 18!) and use he/him pronouns. @noxstories is my main writing account, and this account, @vciious , is for my series I’m working on called ‘masks / madness’! it’s a superhero high fantasy trilogy, with book one having a complete first draft, book two in the works, and book three being planned out! I’ve been working on it since may of last year (almost a whole year, baybee!) and i’m incredibly proud of it!!

HERE is the basic information on it you may need !

my favourite genres, perhaps predictably, is fantasy, of any kind. there’s something so fascinating about fantasy to me, and it’s been that way since I was a kid. it’s one of the things i’m super passionate about, and try as I might to divert away from that genre, I always come back to it in some shape or form!

I also like crime, mystery and dark academia — though really, if the characters are good and the plot is interesting, I’ll find myself intrigued and want to read it !!

though we’re in quarantine right now and all I’ve been doing is writing and laying in a haze in bed pretending to be productive, I do have many other hobbies ! I used to go to drama academy five times a week, for both acting and musical theatre, which was super fun, and as well as writing and drama, I also love reading, listening to podcasts, practising french, watching YouTube, and fantasising one day about publishing a book or two or ten.

hi hi hello everyone! after a year lurking the writeblr side of this blue hell, i finally decided to join in!

about me

i'm kiki! 18, indonesian, and also a genderfluid aromantic bisexual. i use any pronouns but most comfortable with he/him (don't hesitate to use others though! variety is nice to me lol). a multilingual; i speak indonesian and english and some local languages, and i'm learning spanish and dutch. sadly i have an unhealthy obsession with 2000s american "emo" scene, and my ocs, and lately—my country's politics, history and culture. this is gonna appear a lot in my wips, even subtly!

this writeblr is mostly for me to engage with the community! i've been lurking and falling in love with a lot of wips, so, yeah. i don't think i'll be sharing excerpts of my wip because currently i'm writing it in my native tongue, but maybe in the future! i will most likely share some graphics (and rambling. a LOT.) of my ocs, though, since all my wips feature the same characters again and again. you can even say... i'm the fandom of my ocs=)

dreams of hearts and crowds — you know how kpop boomed and started kwave around the world? in this wip indonesia does that too but with rock music inciting the quake. it covers the stories of several bands; the first installment of the series follows a bisexual rhythm guitarist of the most prominent rock band in the scene, from zero to hero to zero again.

menumpah darah — historical wip set in 1940s, when the nation of indonesia was still a dream of the oppressed, so out of reach yet so close. an anti-fascist young man lamented his fate of being saved from a death sentence with the intervention of a powerful friend, even though his comrade wasn't so lucky to be graced by the same fate. perhaps that's why he was in sorrow. or perhaps... it's a certain peta cadet, whose sharp eyes and sharper bones enveloped his frail figure on rainy nights.

sunstealers — working title bc i really have no idea. it's a typical superhero novel, with corrupt government and even wicker superheroes. when the people who are supposed to protect you harm everyone, there's nothing left to do but fight.

you can peep some more details on my wip page! it still needs to be fixed because i did it in a hurry, but the basic is there.

(spoiler: all three wips have the same protagonists and ensemble cast, only with slightly different personality adjusted to the setting. lmao i'm sorry this is gonna happen a lot unfortunately kdkskdks)

writeblr reintroduction (let’s hope i stick to it this time)

Hello!

My name is, as you may or may not now, Marina, and this blog was started on November 1st 2018, when I was almost seventeen. Now I’m eighteen, I have finished high school this year and managed to get into a psychology course, and I have... A lot of time and freedom (or at least until October, when my first year of uni starts-exciting!) to write and to share it.

I have to thank @vandorens for basically teaching me what to do when I said I wanted to start this blog again. You’re the best Azka, ily <3

My first writeblr introduction is here if any of you care to read it-I really tried on that one, lol. It was a bit sentimental looking back at it from this position.

To cut the long story short, I will be working on two WIPs, one of which was mentioned in the linked post, one new.

Based in a fictional kingdom named Vaplaea; not a very precise time period, but definitely not contemporary, The Consilium is a project very close to my heart because of not much else but it’s aesthetic and themes-which are intrigues and schemes on the court, but add some magic in that (and bad luck, and science, and probably murder). I am always a hoe for fantasy, and the world of Vaplaea is close to my heart, but it needs a lot of work. It’s currently in somewhat of a brainstorming, or more precisely reimagining phase, mostly for the characters and their roles.

Based in a fictional country inspired by a mix of Slavic cultures and cities, and a city especially inspired by Belgrade, the city I live in and grew up in... although add even more brutalist architecture. Slightly more futuristic than contemporary, the story follows Branko, who is an art history student. He’s a good guy-sometimes an emotional manipulator, of course, but with a mostly kind heart and an obsession with the life and death of a long gone surrealist painter, Vishnya Zhernakova. Of course, how she really died isn’t the biggest mystery he will find along the way. Horror, mystery and paranormal elements.

hey y’all, i feel like i’m not very engaged in the community and know only like five or six people so here’s another intro for people to hmu me with. i’m martina and i often write stuff by the name agnes since thats my middle name and it sounds classy. i’m sixteen and i like found families, fantasies, chaotic assholes and allies and literally a completely batshit plot. my current favourites are: ninth house by leigh bardugo (i just, love it, so much), the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater (forever), six of crows by lb (i literally love her writing style so much) and if we were villains. also if someone here is from the mo dao zu shi or cql or the untamed fandom please hmu because i have Feelings i need to talk about. other writeblrs i love are: @popovs (brO), @vandorens (her prose is so slick it makes me feel things), @apollchiles (um ma’am the sheer talent), @easternstorms (taog? i love this song), @astorsa (bro lee can step on me thx), @semblanche (i actually love your writing okay? i stumbled on terras town and half dead hope and i had feelings) and @liarede (ur prose is the shit man). my wips are:

b.   the song of a dead bird: angry dead girl comes back to life to kill the people who killed her and also find and love her soulmate, resting bitch face, who has spent the last three years searching for her and believing she’s dead ( pinterest - tag - intro ).

c.    intrinsic: bored teens fuck with time travel and die. time is a very hungry entity and area man decides to feed it. a lot of sacrifices. a lot of death. the past cannot be change because its future already exists just like the future cannot change because its own future already exists. hey fam, it’s farah. a small writeblr intro would be suffice i guess so here it goes: i turned sixteen recently and i’m game for a good myster/thriller/academia/contemporary/fantasy story if it has a good enough plot to pique my interest. currently, i’m writing a gaming genre thriller in a fictional setting which includes rivals to lover polar opposite lesbian leads, the fucking mafia, stupid authoritarian figure, found family trope and a game that turns too real when the rescue mission for a mannequin becomes a rescue mission for a boy (a dead boy, if they don’t hurry). my favorite writeblrs at the moment are @melwrotethat @semblanche @fartistically @liarede @vandorens @shezadis @evergrcen @adrestaie @vviciously @popovs and @apollchiles. hope you guys don’t mind me tagging you! hmu w your works in the reblogs so we can interact!
