I dont plan my comics, i daydream at work multiple different possibilities that COULD be in the comic, and then when it comes time to draw the characters pick the one they like best.

And then sometimes the characters make up a new path on the spot and thats fine i guess

Safe Space blurbs 1

Kevin is up first but that's also because I’m in a fearplay mood and Kevin loves to play with fear a bit.

The Safehaven had greatly improved since the generator was back up and running, along with the new food supplies and starting a very small garden in the sewers just outside of Safehaven. Of course, with all the good that had happened there were close calls, but with new weapons given to the toys that helped protect the perimeter, and improving the defences of the safehaven itself, many of the toys, and most importantly, Doey was able to relax. Though he had no idea how to use this new free time. So being the amazing person you were, you helped create a schedule, time to play, eat, sleep, etc. 

But most importantly you encouraged Doey to play, to be the kid he wasn’t able to be. But with this encouragement came the oddities of a shapeshifting giant childish being. After an incident of trying to understand doey’s inner workings, you found yourself trapped under the large dough creature, he somewhat melted around you as he realized you were getting crushed, and there you met the 3 heads of the kids that made doey who he was. They were scared and apologetic, and so were you. You gently patted the walls and assured the 3 heads that you were glad to meet them and hope that this strange situation wasn't too upsetting to them.

It was quite the opposite for the boys, getting comforted for the first time in years, along with being so close to such a core part of themselves. It was addictive to say the least. So as the next few days flew by, the most bold of the group came up with an idea for game time. 

Dropping in

It was 3PM factory time, a time for the toys to play, build, color and more. A time to have fun and be carefree and childish. Today doey seemed more excited for games than usual. Gathering all the toys that were up to playing a bigger game, then announcing that today's game was a hide and seek tag with a twist if you get caught. 

You looked at him wondering what he ment but just sent you a wink showing off some sharp red fangs as he chuckled to himself. He then started to count down. Usually you don’t participate but you had a feeling doey was planning something. So you told him to go into the generator room to count so you and the others can have a better chance of hiding without him hearing them. He seemed to roll his eyes before cheerfully agreeing and going into the room, closing the sound proof doors behind him. 

You and the others were given 30 seconds. You decided to use your grabpack to hang from one of the more sturdy pipes on the very high ceiling. 

“Ready or not! Here I come.” his voice sounded cheery then became more gravely and deep. He started off searching the tents, there was one toy who was hiding in one and gave a squeal as they were caught, then placed into the center “field” area of safe haven. Some other toys at the trading post handed the caught toy some crayons and paper. 

You watched as they found more toys, tickling them and tossing them over to the caught area. But you could tell he was looking harder for you. One of the littles in the center pointed at you and you quickly made the shushing signal, but doey had noticed the critter looking up at something then quickly turning away and whistling. 

He looked up and his eyes widened before he smiled. “Found ya!” he now stood under you, his neck at an awkward angle to look up. “Here, drop down. I'll catch you!” he held his arms out making a trampoline in the center for you to land safely. You shrugged then braced yourself to fall, not noticing doey’s trampoline was already gone. 

You closed your eyes and let go of the grab packs triggers. You fell for a few seconds before landing on something soft, your legs sliding into some sort of tunnel before you could even grasp what was going on. You were pulled down more. You open your eyes in confusion and see the colorful blue insides of doey, red sharp teeth just above your head. You reach out on instinct. But the ‘lips’ close around your hand and your struggling form is easily swallowed down. Exaggerated gulps and hums echoing around you as you’re dragged deeper. With a final large gulp you were curled up in his more rounded middle. He patted his belly and let out a belch, you could feel the grab pack be plucked off of you and up with the belch.

Doey lets out a deep chuckle and says "So who's next for the hungry monster?” the other toys scream and run away. He doesn’t give much chase, smiling happily with his catch as he goes into the generator room. Since only you, him, poppy, and kissy are allowed in there, he allowed himself to rest and focus on the sensation of you moving around. 

It was cramped and slimy, like that weird film that covers his body and anything he touches as he squeezes through cracks or other areas. You tried your best to stretch out but were ultimately somewhat curled up, like one would be under a heavy blanket. You could feel him rubbing and patting at you chuckling when you pushed out at his hand. 

“So who’s idea was this one?” you see 3 grey heads appear on the wall facing where Doey’s spine would be, 2 of them, with orange and yellow eyes, looking apologetic while the head with red eyes had a sharp smile to its eyes. Its arms formed out of the dough and wrapped possessively around you, head on your shoulder.

“Since last time we just couldn't get your taste,” “or nice weight!” the yellow one interjected. “out of our heads, so I decided to have some fun with it.” The red head, which you learned to be Kevin, moved from your shoulder to your lap, head moving against your hand before looking away, glaring at the other 2 heads as they smiled at each other. 

You just shake your head, you had a feeling that after the flustered was doey acted after the incident you would be dealing with it eventually, just not so soon. “Alright fine, just don't make this too common of an occurrence, there's still a lot for me to do if we want to make a safe path out of here.” The red one's grip tightened and the other two looked more uncertain at that, but calmed as you pet over them, giving special attention to Kevin as he demanded it or got in the way of the others when you gave them too much for his liking. 

You know you’ll be released in about an hour, as game time wraps up and you need to make some food and get back to work on planning and rearranging things, but for you you let yourself rest inside the squishy gooey confines of your dearest friend.

I just watched K-Pop Demon Hunters and MAN.

WHAT IS THERE TO SAY THAT HASN’T BEEN SAID?! It’s gorgeous, the music is on LOOP in both my head and on my phone, the character designs are CHEFS KISS, the characters are IMMACULATE, the animation is PERFECTION.

It’s just a really great movie and I’m lowkey OBSESSED WITH IT.

But a thing I noticed a lot of people saying when I was scrolling about Instagram looking at the REELS UPON REELS OF HUNTRIX AND SAJA BOYS…was people saying that both Zoey and Mira were BAD friends and shouldn’t have been forgiven because of what they did to Rumi.

HUH.

Before I RIP THAT ARGUMENT APART! I will just say from what I’ve seen it’s less than five comments, so try not to make it a big deal…I can though as I’m not only gonna talk about how WRONG that is but also about how WELL WRITTEN this movie is.

So basically the reel I saw on instagram was about how both Zoey and Mira raised up their weapons against Rumi and how Zoey only had TWO of her blades instead of her usual six and everyone in the comments were talking about how SAD this scene was and it is and I saw a comment that I will not lie, it grinded my GEARS.

It basically said something along the lines that Mira and Zoey shouldn’t have been forgiven and the only person that really accepted Rumi was Jinu. Even saying something like “No wonder Rumi feared telling them…THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. Which sure, you can say that it’s your opinion.

But my argument is that they were never even GIVEN A CHANCE.

Multiple times in the movie, Rumi had chances to tell them, when they all sat down in the couch scene for example, their makeup was off, they were being vulnerable…it would have been a great time to talk to them, TO TELL THEM.

But Rumi didn’t. I’m not blaming Rumi here, she has a lot of self hatred and she knows that with the SAJA Boys breathing down their necks that it was a bad time to probably drop that bombshell but I would argue there would never be a good time to drop something as heavy as “Hey guys, sorry for lying to you guys but I’m actually THE THINGS WE SWORE WE WOULD PROTECT THE WORLD FROM.” Like that WILL NOT GO OVER WELL IN ANY SITUATION. But she had multiple chances to but didn’t and she had her reasons why but so were the girls as they were under a lot of pressure too. By Celine.

Celine I don’t hate. I don’t like her but she is a good antagonist, not a villain like the Demon King, but she is someone who unintentionally set the girls up to fail.

She obviously held Rumi to the highest standards out of all the girls but Zoey and Mira still were held up by impossible expectations and standards too, to hide any imperfections and all, literally after Rumi fumbled the first Golden Live Performance and they all sit down, they all mention- “hehe silly Celine, but yeah no she is right hide your flaws.” They were held up HIGH, because they were supposed to make the Golden Honmoon, if not their world could be susceptible to demon attacks. They have hard lives too, being in the lime light AND having to sing and dance to perfection to reach the Honmoon WHILE ALSO FIGHTING DEMONS. These girls seem like they’re in their early twenties so DAMN.

What I’m trying to say, in their perspective they had the right to be suspicious and even scared of Rumi after finding out she’s a demon.

Imagine their perspective, Rumi has been pushing them to achieve the Golden Honmoon, then suddenly she gets all chummy with a DEMON (Jinu) and they are worried for her voice and her because she’s acting off, like she’s hiding something then after seeing Bobby getting kidnapped, SIKE ITS DEMONS, then BOOM…Rumi is a demon.

They don’t know what to believe and I won’t lie, watching that scene. I would’ve reacted similarly to Zoey. I wouldn’t want to hurt my friend but Rumi was SCARY. She was scared and vulnerable but her demon voice literally shook the building. Mira has the right to be angry, Zoey has the right to feel scared while Rumi has the right to feel EVERYTHING.

I like how complex the story is, because I see no wrong sides here. Rumi should’ve told them but she was groomed to believe that she was WRONG and the only way to right that wrong was to achieve the Golden Honmoom and Zoey and Mira were probably taught by Celine that all demons are MONSTERS.

Celine is the true cause of all this discourse because she couldn’t accept who Rumi was. She was a hunter but also a demon, she LEGITIMATELY SAID that when they lost Rumi’s mom, she said she would protect what was left her mom’s legacy, not thinking there was a CHILD. That scene breaks my heart as she COULDN’T EVEN TOUCH RUMI’S CHEEK TO COMFORT HER. She couldn’t love all of Rumi. She couldn’t love her flaws, in her eyes Rumi’s flaw was her demon side, but that isn’t a flaw…she was just born that way and that’s okay.

Celine is such a complex character because even though we DON’T KNOW all the details of her and her sisters (I’m assuming the Sunlight Sisters are actual Sisters) we know she probably pushed her sisters away because of her need for PERFECTION. She pushed that onto Rumi, Mira and Zoey…

Because she couldn’t accept Rumi, Rumi couldn’t accept herself and that caused her to keep massive secrets and that caused a rift between HUNTRIX. It’s so complex and complicated and…beautiful.

To see that it’s not cut and dry and black and white. It’s more grey, that’s what I love about this movie. It’s AMAZING and that’s why I love This is What it’s Sounds Like, because it covers all those JUICY WRITING AND YESSSS.

Hopefully this makes sense, I’ll probably rant more about my headcannons about Celine, the Sunlight Sisters and even Rumi’s mom and MOREEEEEE! Because this movie is a GOLD MINE of detail and crafted with such love.

It’s the closest thing to perfect even with all its flaws…see what I did there-

I enjoyed @elizabethminkel 's article, "Where the wild stories are." My own feelings about generative AI as a potential writing tool are complicated, but I share this sentiment: "Fanfiction is that FUN PART.... We get to spend as long as we want thinking about our favorite characters, but we also get to put all that down on the page, with no real rules or restrictions... no reader to satisfy but ourselves."

And I think (to the point of the quote up top) that I share a lot of humorous memes about how writing can be hard, but I rarely talk about the joy. I LOVE writing, and when I'm writing fanfic, I especially love it -- I'm thinking about my blorbos and writing down my favorite bits. I just spent all morning flowing back and forth between a couple related scenes that I'm excited about, building up anger and fear and a thrumming undercurrent of secret sexual tension in one scene, and starting to resolve those tensions in another (and also adding tidbits to my story outline of things to remember to resolve in other scenes). I was spilling words onto the page as fast I could type them... so many things I'm excitedly putting my blorbos through! So much satisfaction watching them fight and negotiate and fuck! Today writing felt easy and exciting, and I loved every minute.
