Fantasy writer presentation
I started posting about the tolkien persian translations, but why I'm really here is to talk about my writing. I'll try to keep it short, but if it tickles your interest I'd love if we could follow each other :)
I'm a young french writer that's working on a universe since 6 years.
I'm truly into high fantasy and dark fantasy, although I write less of the second kind. I've got a number of inspirations, some less obvious than other like George RR Martin, Tolkien, Sanderson, even Lovecraft or french writers like Camus or Céline.
What deeply compels me to write is my fascination for the human character and its limits, delving into it as much as in an introspective manner as with tangible actions (e. g. fights that act as much as talking than does dialogues).
If your interest is stricken, you can continue to read to see in more detail what i write
This post is peculiar, in the futur I will talk more about my process, what i like and dislike, my philosophy, my goals, my inspirations, some analysis even ! I can't thank you enough for reading :)
My books
The universe I was talking about was at the start a ttrpg for my friends, but since then its has became a fully wrote novel of a high fantasy saga, the following up book that has been started and a new one that I'm currently writing, with the utmost desire of being published.
The Mirrored Path
The Mirrored Path is a high fantasy saga set in this said universe, where Blades rules over all. The four Blades, each sealing one of the Goddesses, hold a power than should've never came into mortal hands.
Three storylines are deeply intertwined.
Fansislas, a farmer, goes into the capital to address to the king of the Ances Holy-Kingdom the problems his city encounters, when at the same time a member of bourgeoisie, Gadolt, reveals himself be a Blade's holder… without the Goddess with it. Unfortunate pair, they will have to cross the continent in order to keep the secret and not be condemned to die, with only one goal : finding the Goddess linked to it in order to use it side by side with the Blade of the king against the Eimin Empire.
The smart and esteemed impress of the Eimin Empire, Alba, finds one of those Blades, and the Goddess linked. As her soul and memories merge with those of the Goddess, she fights as much now against Ances the Holy-Kingdom than a past one against her new memories. Between betrayals and various political games, she raise a host and swear to put an end to the Ances Holy-Kingdom.
On the other of the ocean, Alíyei, a wandering princess, two brothers, Belor and Toga, and a wandering prince, Shirvim — perfect in the eyes of Alíyei, symbole of all her weaknesses, pushing her to betray him to get rid of the pain — stride through the desert. She tries to raise a sell word company in view of the rising tension between the Ances Holy-Kingdom and the Eimin Empire, to defend her country against the possible war.
All are linked in a terrible fate, that they glimpse between dreams and visions, ignoring that the world is entering a new era.
The War's Song
Set in the same universe, 53 years before The Mirrored Path, this is a standalone book.
The story follows Aderon, king and Blade holder of the Ances Holy-Kingdom and his First Counsellor, Notora. Meeting for the first time in history another Blade holder, new players will emerge, a new tension stirred ; for Aderon is not the sole bearer of the divine power, the very reason the Crown holds its dominion.
Notora, seeing changes appear in her king, is troubled. It's her mission to avoid a war that he seems too inclined to declare, for any conflict between such weapons would be the end of any who does not bear them.
History will know this event as the one that stained the world by an unquenchable mark.
I hope you will like it or at least be interested, I'd love to follow and get to know more writers, fantasy or no ! If you're french, bonus points :)
I'll post about things more deep in the future as my philosophy about writing, my reasons of doing it, what I like and dislike, some analysis maybe and translations !

Orlogg looked at Dante and muttered, “This guy.” Dante chuckled and helped the half-Orc to his feet. Shenzu and Vestare had not stopped for the group and were further down than the others. There was a loud groan of wood against stone and creaking metal, then a series of coughs.
“Urgh, we should turn back.” Vestare gagged. The clink of metal against stone signalled Armand’s charge down the stairs, “Why, what’s down there?”
“A burial site. The whole town must be down here.” Came the reply in a thick Northern accent.
“We should go in anyways, maybe there is something there we need.”
“If you want to walk into a crypt, be my guest.” Vestare shot back. Dante, Orlogg and Dank shrugged from their place on the stairs, “There could be worst things.”
“Graves have money.”
“And we’re already here.” The three decided amongst themselves before stumbling further down the stairs, almost tripping over one another to reach the bottom. As they clatter down the final steps, Shenzu looked up and shook his head disapprovingly.
“The dead should be respected, you thieves. How would you feel if someone robbed your grave because they could.”
~Day 37 of Weyard snips~
“Uh...lucky guy?” Orlogg scratched his head. Shenzu sighed.

Did I just submit a query letter to a literary agent for this novel that’s been a work in progress for 5 years? Yes. Was that a little bit scary? Too f’ing right. Now… I had to let that one breathe for a year or so before final edits and in the meantime worked on 4 other stories. It’s time to pick one to go full out on novel-wise. How do I pick one when I love them all? Just a game of classic “eenie meenie miney moe which one into a novel does go??” ROFL #writer #writerslife #writingfantasy

Writing Fictional Governments
masterlist. main navigation.
@bluebxlle_writer on instagram
1. Base it on the real world
Yes, you can create your own government in fiction, but it'll still be super helpful to draw inspiration from the real world. Here are examples of governments :
• Republic - authority is based on the citizens' votes, officials are elected based on free elections.
• Democracy - the whole population or selected groups have authority.
• Theocracy - authority is given to priests who rule in the name of God, or by officials regarded as divinely guided.
• Monarchy - authority is given to a single person, usually a king or queen, and the title is hereditary.
• Plutocracy - authority is given to the wealthy or high-class people, who usually rule from behind the scenes.
• Dictatorship - authority is snatched by a person or a group, and they end up ruling the country forcefully.
• Anarchy - the absence of law and order, usually caused resulting from a failure of government.
2. The state of government
It's crucial to show your readers the state of your government, as it will say a lot about your story's mood and also the professionalism of your government. Is it peaceful, or are there constant protestors or rebels? How do the citizens see their government? Are crime rates higher or lower during this government's ruling period? Even trivial things like these will make your government more realistic.
Tumblr media
3. What the leader of the government can or cannot do
Another important point to tackle is the limitations of your government's power. Let's say, your fantasy government is a monarchy, and the king holds full power - being able to command anyone and implement any new laws.
But even as a king, there must be limitations binding his hands - something that he can't do despite his title. Here's where you can be creative.
Maybe he can't make decisions without the approval of at least half of his ministers? Or maybe there's a book of law that holds rules and laws that even the king has no power to break.
Tumblr media
4. Its role for the plot and MCs
Your story's government isn't just there - it also needs to either move the plot forward or delay it. Consider the government's role to your plot and main characters. Does it help your main characters move forward, or hinder them from reaching their goals?
5. Its most valued quality
In every government, there's a certain quality that they will value most and promise to their citizens. They might even put it in every single of their mottos to reassure everyone. Maybe it's security? Order? Peace? Bliss? Loyalty?
6. Chaos :D
In such a huge government, I assure you, it's practically impossible for every single member to be good people. There will be chaos. There will be corruption, betrayals, or even spies. To make your government realistic, add chaos. Show prime ministers commiting corruption for their own good, advisors manipulating their king, etc.
7. Consider time period
This tip isn't as important as the rest of the points, but I'd like to address this anyway. Consider the time period while deciding a government. For example, medieval times might resonate with monarchy or theocracy more, and modern times may prefer republic or democracy.

How To Write the Theme of Your Book — Pt. 1: PROVERBS
The theme is what your story is truly about beneath it’s plot and external events (the things that are happening to your characters). It’s something that the author is trying to express to the audience whether it be a lesson, an idea, a belief, etc.
There are a ton of major themes that can be broken down into smaller ones that are woven into your story. A few major themes include: Family, Revenge, War, Death, Good vs. Evil, Coming of Age, Survival, Truth, Redemption, Courage.
Love for example is a major theme that can crumble down into trust, comfort, obsession, self-love, envy, jealousy— you name it. Weaving these smaller themes into your side characters can help create a very well-rounded story. For example, maybe your protagonist is forced to marry an evil king and finds out he is not so evil after all. However, maybe he has a concubine who becomes jealous of your protagonist who is just trying to love herself admits this huge change. The king becomes envious when a knight is over friendly with his new bride-to-be, who begins seeking solace in the knight. A frail elderly servant brings comfort to your protagonist by offering advice, warm baths and a mother-figure.
It can help to create a Proverb for your story's main theme(s). This is a quote or simple phrase that embodies the theme.
“Not all that glitters is gold” or “A diamond in the rough”
could refer to a story that is about rags to riches. An underprivileged character with an ability to save the world. A young woman who is gorgeous inside and out, but lives in the grime of an undercity— only for the king the recognize her true beauty one day.
From my current WIP with a core themes are about Love/Truth/Deception. I recommend creating a web to show your core theme and the smaller ones that branch from it. Here are mine.

My Proverbs: “The Truth Hurts” and “Lying is only a band-aid”
My protagonist has a misbelief that lying protects the people she cares about (and herself). This misbelief comes from a childhood of brutal truths and heartbreaking reality. By the end of her story and character arc, she learns that her lies only create negative effects and that she must trust the people she loves.
Ask yourself: “what is the point that you want to make by telling this story?”
I want to show/express through my character’s story and arc that lying does not protect the people you love, but rather destroys not only yourself, but the people around you. CREDIT: All this knowledge comes from the book: Story Genius by Lisa Cron.

Fate's Challenge And Entropy's Gambit
A link to one of my stories
Fate's Challenge And Entropy's Gambit
Fate sat motionless at her loom as she weaved the story of Olith and its people. Her fingers glided over the threads as the shuttle danced through. In her realm, nothing moved while everything moved. Fate had no form, and yet, she appeared in an infinite variety of shapes.
“Hello, Fate,” something said to her.
She looked up from her writing and saw a black leopard sitting across from her. Her cloven hoof set the crystal rod down on the table. “Entropy. You must excuse me, I am very busy.”
The snake that was now Entropy laughed. He shook his head and said, “Do not be coy with me. It is unbecoming of you.”
“Then tell me why you are here?” she said. Fate followed this by licking one of her paws before using her to rub her forehead.
Entropy’s head jerked to one side as he strutted about Fate’s domain. Entropy, using her beak, pecked at something at her feet. The peahen that was Entropy looked back at Fate and said, “I came to talk.”
Fate’s formless mist swirled and coalesced about her realm. She tried to remember the last time Entropy came to talk. Was it yesterday? A millennium ago? Or was it next week? Time had no definition for Fate and Entropy.
Regardless, Entropy visiting Fate meant one thing: it meant to interrupt Fate’s work. Destroy it and plunge it into disorder.
A peacock strutted over to the peahen that had been pecking and scratching at the non-existent ground. The peacock nuzzled up next to the peahen and said, “So, what brings you, my dear?”
Entropy stood upright to his full height. He then pulled off the mask to reveal the rotting flesh of his face and the two glowing orbs that served as his eyes. “Olith. I have come for Olith. I have set my agent upon it and now it will slowly unravel.”
“Oh, I know you will try to stop me, but it is inevitable. Time has decreed that all things in their realm must fall.” With a snap of his fingers, the deck of cards that had been sitting on the table burst into flames. As the cards burned, Entropy laughed.
Fate’s shoulders slumped as she lowered her head. “Yes, all things must, in time, fall. Once they have run their course,” she said. She then looked up at Entropy with her bright gray-blue eyes and reached out to him. She then revealed dice in her brown hand. “But Olith has not run its course yet.” She quickly closed her hand and withdrew it.
Entropy let out a little smirk. “It matters not. Your agent only delayed me. They can not hold their form forever. When they fall, the unraveling will begin. The elves of Iliapin are but a start.”
When Fate blinked, Entropy was gone. Fate went back to her loom and sat down and pulled back her robe to reveal a little girl whose hair was the color of amber. Fate picked the little girl up and sat her on her lap.
The girl was on the verge of tears and was trembling with fear as Fate attempted to comfort her.
“Who was that scary person?” the girl asked.
“Entropy. The essence of disorder,” Fate said as she stroked the girl’s brunet hair.
“I don’t like him.”
Fate continued to stroke the little girl’s hair. “Entropy is my mirror and my mate. I both dislike him and love him. We both serve our purpose.”
Tilting the girl’s face up to her own, Fate gazed at her yellow face and brown eyes. “But you need not fear him. You may be part of me, but you are not like us. You exist differently than he and I. Like us, you are an essence, but one not governed by the universe. At least not the same way Entropy and I are.”
“You exist to guide the people of Olith away from disorder. To do so, you will inhabit a line of people. You will be able to see what is to come and even alter some events to come.”
The teenager who sat on Fate’s lap now stood. She seemed to glide as she walked around the loom and from the other side, her red hair that framed her freckled face only seemed to amplify her piercing green eyes when she looked at Fate. “So I am to face Entropy?” she asked.
“No. Sadly, you are but a pawn to deal with his pawns, his agents. But you will have allies, those who will choose to aid you. The aelves for one. I will see to that.” A reassuring smile came across Fate’s lips when she said that.
Fate reached out and took the girl’s black hand in her own. “But first, you need to know how to read my weaving and see the possibilities. Come sit here and I will show you.”
Entropy drifted aimlessly without form through the maelstrom of his realm. His essence intermixed with the chaos that surrounded him, that fed him, that was him.
Fate, Entropy’s equal, his opposite, his nemesis, his lover, had thwarted his plan to disrupt Olith and set it on a path to its destruction. His agent’s task had been simple: sow unrest and upheaval on Olith and disrupt the rhythm of Fate’s work.
“Iliapin was ripe for the fall with all of Olith to follow,” Entropy said to himself as he pulled himself into a shadowy form. “The Spring of the World is destroyed and the Lallinia are sundered. Fate’s own mis-step caused that.”
The shadow that had been Entropy was now a ball of lightning that pulsed and crackled, sending out flashes of light that were swallowed by the surrounding tempest. “Yes, and with the Spring of the World gone, you can now influence events. But you sent your agent too soon.”
A fire erupted throughout Entropy’s realm, dispersing the ball of lightning and the maelstrom, as he bellowed, “ENOUGH!”
The fire became a mist and now coalesced in what remained of Entropy’s dimension. “Yes, I should have waited, but my agent became enthralled with the sensations of being human, making themselves weak against Fate’s agent.”
Slowly, the mist drifted around as it took a roughly cylindrical shape. The lead portion of this moved back and forth, creating the illusion it was a snake. As the mist snake crawled around on nothing, bulges started forming and the front half enlarged and thickened. The bulges undulated forward and backward in rhythm as they lengthened. The mist took on the outline of a cat.
Entropy continued to walk around in this form until he halted. He arched his back before standing up on his back legs. As Entropy arose, he changed again. This time, he took on a solid form, that of a man wearing a long sleeve tunic, leggings, and a kilt. Each piece of clothing shimmered iridescently, being both all colors and black at the same time. A black painted Noh mask covered his face, creating an illusion that the head inside the hood led to a void.
Once Entropy completed his transformation, he threw his head back and laughed. His realm faded, and he soon stood in the universe with Olith in front of him. “Fate, my love, you and your agent bested me and mine this time. So much the better. For when this universe is done, and you and I can be alone, we shall spawn a new universe that will shake infinity.”
He held out his left hand, and an image of Olith appeared in it. Slowly, Entropy turned it in his hand. “First, though, I must find your pesky agent and deal with them. Time is on my side and you can not so readily produce an agent as I can.”
Entropy continued to spin the replica of Olith, faster and faster. He clenched and unclenched his right hand into a fist. Finally, he slammed his right fist into the palm of his left hand, shattering the miniature world he had been holding.
He gazed at Olith. A red light emanated from the eyeholes of his mask. “You did not send an agent. Or rather, you sent your agent as an essence. One that can persist without a form of its own.” Venom dripped from his words as he spoke.
Again, he held his hand out. This time nothing appeared in it before he flipped it towards Olith, as if he was casting dust or sand towards the world. He then laid down, lounging on a sofa that was not there, his eyes now all black save for a faint green glow. Black tears streaked his mask.
In a stuttering, cracking voice, Entropy said, “What you have done, my sweet, is the purity of brilliance and beauty. I will mourn beyond eternity when the essence I have set to Olith destroys your essence.”
