hiiii let's ignore that this ask has been sitting in my inbox for so long pls thank you for this ask i'm obsessed with it and it did make me smile when you sent it and it's also making me smile now but also pain!!!! bc it made me reread that specific scene. i've also dug around in my beta readers server for thought processes around this scene so hopefully this is gonna be somewhat coherent lmfao

was the scene planned early on? it really wasn't at all. and it actually was supposed to be a smut scene in the beginning haha i told my beta readers, yo, i think we're gonna have some coping smut and then over the course of a week (how crazy is it that that's 2 1/2 years ago now!!!) i wrote this scene

what were (or weren't) they doing? what was changed in the process and why) as it developed i got to a point where it just didn't feel right to show them having sex because it was such an intimate moment for them that even just writing it i felt like an intruder. i said to my beta readers at some point that wilmon can have sex off screen so i think it's very much up to reader interpretation at this point. but "on screen", in the chapter, they were really just touching each other and coming back into their own bodies and to each other

so yeah it definitely messed with me. i can't say how long in total it took me to write chapter 10 but i do remember having to actively take a day or two off writing in between and implementing some serious self care to make sure my own mental health wasn't completely plummeting. i think it was definitely good that i had my beta reader team behind me to suffer through it with me but also to help me cope and distract myself with silly things so shout out to them always!

was that night fundamental to their healing/simon's trust in touch? i think after the hell they've been through over the past couple days, they definitely needed that moment to remind themselves that they're still alive and that they had each other. so i guess, yes it definitely was fundamental to the healing journey going onwards. i think they needed it to be able to keep going bc we know that chapter 11 was a whole other shitshow but i think without that intimate moment, everything would've been even more fragile

could the situation have ripped them apart? i think if wille hadn't learned to love and respect himself and his own boundaries as well, it would've been hard for them to meet on common ground again, and if they'd stayed together it would've turned so toxic. but because they both learned and grew, they managed to push through (but in any scenario, i think they would've fought for their lives to stay together)

Thoughts? Did you like the season?

I actually did!

I obviously entered season 3 with a lot lower expectations than I did the last time, so I was pleasantly surprised... I luckily don't need to like Wille or see a wholesome relationship between him and Simon, to enjoy the show. I think it's overall tied nice together, and doesn't have the wtf moment like s2 did.

I do have a hard time seeing Wilmon endgame as a "happy ending" at this point tbh. Wille got less and less likable, and I think his and Simons relationship seems more and more distant. Yes they had a lot of sweet moments, but I feel Wille is getting more and more sucked into his world and has kinda lost his empathy for Simon? He seems more self centered than ever, and Simon is so alone. I really can't wait to see if they manage to turn this tanker around in a believable way in just one episode... Or if they will make endgame, but with us sitting back not believe they will last one second anyways bc nothing changed. Good thing it's just a fictional couple, bc yikes!

I really like the Erik twist. And that we got a little lurk into what happened before Wille at Hillerska. The irony of it all, is that August turned out to be the good guy. He got the biggest redemption arc and is more likable than Wille now (like wtf). Also his and Sara's relationship is the most healthy of them all and August love for Sara seems more genuine than Wille's love for Simon. Also Sara had the best storyline out of all the characters.

I feel like Sargust kinda became Lisa's Noorhelm... Which is kinda tragic in a queer show haha.

Blue Prince (which I love and am obsessed with) really fucking pissed me off, and I need to talk about it.

Massive late game spoilers. I’m so serious. This is like the 3rd (4th?) ending. (3rd cut scene)

Okay, so I hate the Parlor game. It was fun when each box had one statement. It stopped being fun when the boxes had two statements, because I don’t think it was clear that they were AND and not OR statements. Me and my bae had a big disagreement about it, and it kinda soured the whole thing for me. Plus, if I sat and did the logic every time it would just take too long every run. I got the two key upgrade and I don’t even read the clues anymore. I open two boxes and probably get two gems. Lately, the puzzles started over, and I’ve just been handing the controller to my son, who says he loves the Parlor Room (I think because he feels bad that I’m so grumpy about it).

So the last week (in real life) we’ve been having a blast running experiments and removing crates. This is almost the only thing I haven’t done yet, so we were very focused and very sure.

Okay. So. One box says the adventure is at its end and one says it goes on forever. So obviously, if ai want one more puzzle, I pick the “the adventure never ends” box. (And the third box says there are two true boxes. Which means that box itself is true and one of the others is true. If that box itself is false, then still only one of the other boxes is false. Okay. Got it.)

There’s a cut scene with somber music where Simon looks longingly at the other box.

I am devastated. All my excitement and enthusiasm shrivels.

1. How did I pick the wrong box? So if I say I want to be done and end the game? It gives me another puzzle? WTF devs? How does that make any sense? There are plenty of times in this game when the devs and I are on different pages. When there’s a miscommunication. But how was I so wrong in understanding this? And what were the devs expecting?

2. Yes, I see that there is a spiral on the top of the box. I’ve seen that a few times, and I know there is another constellation. One of the times I saw it, it also said “Does it ever end?” Or something. So this is a hint that I need to gather stars and look at that.

However! Why the somber music??? Why make it look like I picked the sad ending? I think they were trying to be obtuse. Is this a puzzle? That’s how the whole game has gone, so I get that. But the sad cut scene that makes you feel like a failure? Why?

Why not have the spiral in the bottom of the box with a piece of paper that says “Does it ever end?” And the cut scene has calming or uplifting music and Simon outside looking up at the stars and then the day ends. That would trick you into thinking “oh, the mysteries go on, but he’s living a good little life and I can stop playing the game.”

The tone is bad here. It’s alienating. This is a serious miss for me.

Yeah, tomorrow I can go back and open the other box, and I can farm stars, but now the game has insulted me, and I’m going to need some time away.

i watched the first two seasons when they came out but felt like s2 was a decline in quality (the lighting… the cinematography…) so wasnt too interested in the third season, only recently watched it and feel a bit late to all the fandomy stuff and catching up on what people think and i just wanted to say that ur opinion about wille renouncing his title/the problems in their relationship/the further decline of s3 is literally the only one i feel is like rational and correct and realistic!!

i get sad when i see people say that s3 just made them not care or hoping they wouldn’t get together in the end but i also can’t deal with people just buying into the nonsense narrative with a fairytale plaster på såret ending, i completely agree with you that the idea that wille can just like live a normal life isn’t possible and that its much more interesting to imagine how him, and simon, would balance their relationship with the crown (my headcanon is just that sort of after s3 they are like “okay that was cool but lets get real here” and then they sort of goes back to the more realistic handling of the royal family that it has in s1)

also get so upset when i see people saying simon is selfish and always excusing willhems behaviour so thank u for calling him out!!! (more like the writers for fucking him over) i also dont like that in s3 simon just becomes like this passive person while wille takes on the more dominant role as if simon wasn’t the driving force fucking shit up (respectfully) in s1 while wille kept to the sidelines, i guess its to show how they’ve changed as characters but why when wille becomes tougher does simon have to become more docile, like couldn’t they have come togetherrrrr isnt that supposed to be the whole point? they don’t feel like a couple working together despite their differences they just feel like two fanfic characters going from making out to contrived issues pulling them apart so that they can make out again (but sadder this time)

long message sorry, just saying thank you, as im rewatching s1 and being amazed at how good that season was and mourning what could have been, keep fighting the good fight 👑 (also i keep playing with the idea of them doing like a little reunion special in a few years where wilmon are older and the show is more realistic again and in the vein of s1 and i wanted to hear what you think they should do for something like that)

first of all, don't be sorry for the long message, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me! and thank you for saying my opinion is correct haha I know it is lmao. But jokes aside, even though I do get frustrated and I'm sure it bleeds through and sometimes I wanna be petty and hateful, I always try to be reasonable and rational when I talk about criticism so thank you for noticing and appreciating it. (and i do think this criticism is justified and rational but apparently most of the fans don't and just see it as being a hater or monarchy lover)

And same, I also find it sad that s3 ruined wilmon so much that you could actually think they're better off apart. Because I certainly don't really see the long lasting success so I just can't be happy about their ending. I guess i have to accept your headcanon, that makes the most sense but it sucks that you have to imagine a better, more realistic ending or future than canon to somehow make sense of it and excuse it, it shouldn't be like that.

(Also wtf, who is thinking Simon is selfish when he is consistently sacrificing himself and putting his own needs before others throughout the show until he can't anymore and Wille is shown to be consistently selfish which is one of his character traits?)

With Simon being more passive and Wille more dominant - I see where you're coming from but I don't fully agree. Yes to a certain degree, how he treated Simon and Simon just retreated into himself but I actually think Wille was more active and tougher previously (esp in s2) and I mean that in both a good and bad way. In S3 I was missing that cunty attitude he had, he never really fully stood up to Simon or spoke up about the bullying behavior from Vincent and other students (well, he kinda did but that never actually did anything), so in general I would say Wille was actually more passive - he just kinda let things happen at Hillerska, let the royal court tell him what to do, didn't pick anything meaningful for his birthday and so on. I wanted that authorititave energy from him, daring anybody to fuck with him or Simon but I guess he couldn't be shown to actually be protective and competent and successful with that, he had to seem like a royal puppet who can't actually make any things happen and only harm Simon with that :/ They should've been fucking shit up together as a power couple but that was nowhere to be seen

And yes, s1 is special. It really is so well done (even though it also isn't perfect and has some issues) and stands so well on its own. Now I do love s2, it actually is my favourite lol, we can critisise the same thing that happened in s3 tho, that both previous finales were kind of downplayed and the actions in it were barely relevant anymore and no consequences were shown in the next season. In fact, the sex video was continuously downplayed after the s1 finale where it was portrayed as this international scandal and loads of people on the internet were gossiping about it but no sign of that in s2 or 3. No one seemed to care now that it was official and wanted to know who filmed and posted that video and if the royal court covered it up like that wouldn't be some of the most pressing questions from the public. (but no we had to wrap it up quick and August couldn't be at risk of losing his position for the ending to work)

I could go on and on about the weird choices lol but what I meant to say is, things like the cinematography or the acting is still great in s2 and 3, that's not the problem imo but many other things are that make s3 unfortunately a much bigger drop in quality.

About the reunion - that's a really good question. With the canonical ending I actually wouldn't be excited if they did that (and I honestly don't want it) but it would be nice if it would be more realistic, idk what they would do for that, I can only say what I would want to see: I want Wille to still be crown prince and going to therapy and working on his anxiety and anger issues and be more confident in himself and I want to see him and Simon working through their life as a public queer royal couple with all its ups and downs together and bringing in some new changes and challenge the old rules and traditions and not letting themselves be torn apart but stand strong.

(But apparently that is too idealistic and not actually 'realistic' to think that could happen 🙄)

Hey what happened in the 2020 season with Alex? (Sorry new fan and still learning)

omg you never need to apologise to me for not knowing things i literally know nothing

the 2020 season from the alexnation perspective was like being in a hamster ball being hurled around for 5 months straight basically but here’s the breakdown:

so for context 2019 was really really good for alex he was promoted as a rookie and he shunted a fair few times and most of the time wasn’t on maxs quali pace but red bull were the third quickest team so he wasn’t expected to win or anything. alex ultimately beat pierres points tally from his 12 races in the red bull within 7 as a rookie so like. whilst it was insane behaviour for red bull to promote him in the first place he did perform phenomenally

then we turn to 2020 pre season testing. mercedes was dominant as per (dreamy sigh) and the red bull was quick but looked. edgy. for both alex and max but ferrari were fucking nowhere so it was still like really positive for red bull bc it was basically two extra places gained and then. global pandemic. and then as a footnote to the whole you know. global pandemic. sebastian vettel was dumped from the love island villa (ferrari (everyone gasped))

and then! triple header one and the first race in austria had max running an upgraded front wing and none for alex and it was like understood i think like it wasn’t a big deal at the time

and then everything that could have possibly happened. happened. in the race and alex and lewis…yeah. but the world did in fact keep spinning!

and then alex got p4 in the second austria race (altho. significantly off of maxs pace in p3 for sureee) and everyone was like if only max had a rear gunner (wistful) which in my opinion is an insult to lewis and the w11 but whatever. nothing else really happened here other than horner and marko making kissy faces at seb during this time but that’s just contextfkdkd

so then the next race in hungary alex qualified p13 and even though max only qualified p7 and it was the third race of the season alex was getting eaten alive and george was on live tv like red bull are making him look like an idiot and he’s not an idiot and they need to fix it for him and it was like fucking hell what is going ONNN we haven’t even made it to the third race yet (like imagine anyone coming out and declaring this after australia quali this year like. wild scenes)

so then one week break and then triple header two started and during the races at silverstone they start talking in the media about when the best time to demote alex is even though the only times he’d finished outside the top six was brazil 2019 and austria 2020 which. pls consult youtube if you need further info here

they also changed alexs race engineer in silverstone so More turbulence altho completely welcome this time (simon rennie come back we love u, ur so sexc haha x)

then during the final triple header 2 race in barcelona he gets put on the most ass strategy known to man like with context this was criminal behaviour actually

and then one week break and then triple header 3 starts (do you feel like a hamster yet) at spa and unbeknownst to us all at the time but later confirmed by will buxton and dts horner is in the mf pitlane in spa propositioning seb like one more year and then you can come home which. have some decorum alex is behind you in the garage. but anyway in the general media everyone was gagging for pierre’s red bull return so there were bigger fish

anyway. SPA. they did this to my boy

and alex made the best out of it but as per the comeback kid episode of dts that everyone loves (🙃) alex was made out to be useless and it was like. wtf did you expect

THEN between spa and monza helmut marko was like oh btw alex hasn’t actually had the same parts as max for most races this year okay bye and alexnation was like…wtf. but then no one else really cared and it was like UMMM OKAY

and then monza happened and alex was in a first lap sandwich involving pierre and then second lap crashed into grosjean (alexs fault - live laugh love x) and had a huge chunk of his floor missing so finished p nowhere and then. pierre won and good for her i guess but then ex drivers were on live tv demanding alex step down for pierre which like no one has ever done this in the history of the sport as far as im aware so it was fucking savage especially when this was the first race alex had finished outside of the points for red bull in (with the exception of the two aforementioned events)

and then mugello wooooooooooooo!! alexs first podium!!!!!! i was gassed at the time but it was sort of sad looking back like if you listen to his team radio across the line from getting p7 in canada and then compare it to his first podium in mugello it’s. yeah! we were enduring it!!

and then sochi happened in its own weird bubble and alex was nowhere really got caught behind carlos hitting the wall at the first corner after a poor quali and that was that

then. triple header number four starts with horner giving alex an ultimatum of we’re backing you but we want results in the next three races or ur finished hunny which. okay

then first race of the triple header max ends up blocking alex in his quali run (live laugh love 2.0 x) and then:

nurburgring was the they race me so hard incident. available to view elsewhere bc god knows im not reliving that!!

imola was again nightmarish. red bull media team said alex was working with a mental coach (patrick his trainer had got mental health qualifications basically) and was supporting him etc which. here comes paul di resta live on air laughing about how max wouldn’t need mental support. it was once again. brutal. especially bc he was getting a load of xenophobic abuse online already like fuck off

back on the track alex basically spun on his own but thought he had been hit and no one thought to tell him before he went into the media pen that he hadn’t actually been hit so it was fucking awkward and yeah twitter was brutal again

then istanbul happened. red bull looked promising but both max and alex finished well off so it was just whatever really lewis did a madness no one really cared about red bull

then final three races of the season started with the grosjean crash in bahrain which ended with alex on the podium and then checo won sakhir and alex wasn’t really there and then we were at the final race in abu dhabi where red bull officially signed checo (as confirmed by will buxtons analysis of the curtains. god i can’t believe this season was real)

but alex didn’t find out for like two weeks later when the season was well and truly over and was taking drinks to the factory for everyone and it was heartbreaking and then he didn’t have a seat and spent the next year saying it killed him so. yeah…TA-DA

And while we're on the subject of Idris fucking up perfectly good kids, explain to me, please, how the fuck are Luke and Amatis still alive?

We're told that their mother abandoned them to become an Iron Sister (which, seriously, wtf). Then we're told that Amatis took care of Luke from that point on so it is rather safe to assume that there is no father in the picture. Amatis is 3 years older than Luke so it's unlikely she was old enough to be taking care of herself, let alone her brother. On top of that, unless I missed something, the students at the Academy live in the dorms so how could she take care of her brother?

I do not really see Idris offering any assistance to them at all so what did they live on? How did they get any money? Idris isn't located somewhere particularly warm so what did they do during the winter?

Luke's whole thing is that he was miserable at the Academy and that Valentine helped him get better at Shadowhunting, which okay, fine. But probably the only thing rich boy Valentine needed to do was feed Luke properly.

the lack of any logic timeline is the biggest problem to me. something happened to caleb graymark (their father) but what exactly was never specified

shadowhunters can start their academy education at 12-13 years old, and at the academy they're supposed to take care of themselves (when simon attends, there are young orphans), so from that moment amatis would only take care of him during summer vacation

before the academy, luke was friends with jocelyn, so the fairchilds probably helped them out and they probaby did get help from the clave like every shadowhunter does, but why they weren't send to adoptive parents is the real plot hole. their mother may have made some kind of deal, idk

at the academy the students used to have real food and they get it by themselves, luke didn't need help on that 😆 but i see how valentine was important for luke and how amatis would have been grateful for not being the only one besides jocelyn looking out for him anymore

another problem to me is that it's very difficult to figure out during which years the circle members attended the academy. amatis being 3 years older than luke is a problem if that meant she was late. robert being late is supposed to be something abnormal

edited to add: valentine became an orphan as a teenager and i don't recall any indication that he lived in a foster home after? haha

And then they both go home and she's like "well, if they ask about me again say we broke up" and he's all disappointed and is like "yeah haha...sure will"

Phillip meeting HER parents would be completely different. Eldest and only daughter. Strict vietnamese dad and catholic filipino mom. They'll definitely be skeptical about the vague "boyfriend" (she would've asked Simon, but she figures it would be too much to ask for him to unmask) she's been talking about. Her 16 year old brother is there: He's trying so hard to be intimidating but he's got a bad case of baby face.

They ask him about his career. His income. His plans on fucking MARRIAGE. They grill him about Annabelle. It's fucking crazy how he eases by it. They eventually soften up by the end of it and Belle's mom, although unsure is clearly happy her daughter's boyfriend can "provide for her" (as IF- she'd never let him.)

She keeps trying to explain to the Captain and to her teammates that it's all "FAKE! HES PAYING ME! I DONT EVEN LIKE HIM" but everyone's not convinced at all
