Week 1: Definition
Xeransis is a pretty straightforward term. It essentially means the gradual loss of tissue moisture. I chose it because I can see plenty of scenarios where this "gradual loss" can be used metaphorically. My first thought when seeing this word was imagery of dead or drying plants.

"There’s no need to do anything drastic."
villain starters
Mikumo isn’t used to having to assemble on the fly like this, but that destructive Quirk is a force to be reckoned with. He should be thankful that it’s just his gear being destroyed and not his body.
“You’re wrong,” he says, just for the sake of saying it. He still needs more time, he’s scanning the debris for anything he can get his hands on and jamming all the bits together as he runs. The portable oxygen bottle in his kit is technically supposed to be used as an emergency air supply, but run that through a bit of metal tube stuffed with iron wool...
A common lighter is all it takes. The wool ignites, then the rod itself, pure steel crackling like an oversized sparkler. He swipes his homemade thermal lance across the ground to test it and it leaves a molten gouge in the concrete. “Drastic is the only way people like me can keep up with people like you.”

Week 2: Brainstorming
Medium: Dried plant matter or imagery, watercolour, sculpture or screen printing (from group discussions)
Related terms: atrophy, shrivel, wither. Research into Xeransis went different paths.
The pathology side of Xeransis is negative. It means abnormally dry which has negative effects on the body. Xerosis, a synonym, also refers to eczema, a skin condition known to be irritating. Xeransis seen as something to prevent and treat.
Research into Xeransis also brought up the term siccation. This is the intentional drying of plants for agriculture and is beneficial in the long-term. For agriculture, it leads to preventing crop losses, synchronizing harvest, and improving quality. Here, it’s seen as a necessary evil to guarantee a better yield. Xerantic means originating from a dry habitat which can show resilience in adversity. Adapting to harsh climates to survive.
The gradual loss of a crucial component of life can be used as a metaphor for things like a gradual loss of passion, loss of the senses, loss of vitality with age, loss of identity, etc.
I thought the term "gradual" was interesting. It reminded me of the popular metaphor of a frog in boiling water, gradually losing something makes it hard to notice until something has already severely changed.
Two films were brought up in discussion that could give inspiration, A Zed & Two Noughts and The Squid and the Whale.

@xerantic said: (QT) "For you." Shimura hands Todoroki a valentine. He's giving them out to his whole class, but Touya happens to be first.
Every time he thought Shimura couldn’t get any dorkier the guy always seemed to one up himself. Who would take the time to make everyone a Valentine? Wasn’t it enough to just take your chances with a girl who may or may not have been thinking of you?
“Is this your confession?” It was really just a joke but he took the chocolate anyway with a light chuckle. “Or am I just your favorite?”

(For Villain!Izuku) 💣 (stress) 🍬 (family)
talk about my muse
💣 for a stress headcanon
In this timeline, Izuku has even worse management of his mental health. In times of high stress, he tends to just dissociate from the situation altogether. There’s not another ‘identity’ per se, it’s just him operating on autopilot without any sense of personal consequence, emotional involvement, or legal/moral repercussions. This may or may not catch up to him later, but depending on how severe the stress is it can be difficult to remember what happened or what he actually did.
🍬 for a family headcanon
Izuku doesn’t hate his mom, quite the opposite. During his transitional phase, he ran away from his childhood home because he couldn’t stand the thought of her living with a monster under her roof unknowingly. Thinking of her is a huge stressor for him resulting in feelings of worthlessness and guilt, so he just tries to put her out of his mind as much as possible. He has no doubt she would disapprove of everything he’s doing, but he can’t stop now either.

11. — heartbeat
11. — heartbeat // drabble
ic ;; The heartbeat is a small drum of life. It serves as a small reminder to Eri that’s she still alive, that maybe she’ll survive another day. This reminder used to be a curse; sometimes she hated the thought that she had to stay in such a cruel world, where no one would come to save her. But now…It’s different. The heartbeat thrumming in her chest is a mark of being saved; a victory march for the heroes that rescued her.
Lemillion-san’s arms are warm around her. His heartbeat is strong; a reassurance that he’s there to fight for her. A reassurance that she’s safe. She shifts a bit, curling up a bit closer to him, and his arms move to accommodate her easily as he slightly changes position on the sofa. And as his grip on her tightens only a little, Eri knows that now, she has a real purpose; if she works really hard, maybe she can have a heartbeat as strong as Mirio’s. Then maybe she’ll be able to save others too.
Send a word for a headcanon/drabble/starter!
