Something I think is overlooked about Jacob is the fact that he was in school when the Marauders were in school.

Jacob was two years younger than them. Which also makes him two years younger than Snape. Snape wasn't his teacher. Bro, was his upperclassmen. Jacob dead ass was there when Snape was getting bullied and when Snape was getting rejected by Lily. This was such a missed opportunity for some funny interactions.

So, follow up on my other post:

Last year, after I finished HL I got the idea of a story before my mc gets accepted so I went on a spiral and drew about 50 characters before I got burned out and never got to writing the actual fanfiction. Lmao, quick lore drop.

Of course, I can't share it all here, but it followed Lacy's brother – Jacob – and his 'friends' during their 5th year before he went missing.

I actually still dig these designs so hard I love unlikely misfit friend groups. Continues below the cut. (Don't mind Jacobs being different from the other three. I drew that one at the same time I drew the ones for his parents, lmao).

● Margot Oakley

• Margot is a kooky Hufflepuff airhead with a heart for Herbology and a strong intuition. From a young age, her affinity with nature and creatures was prominent; growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers like no other and connecting easily with even the most stubborn beast unlike any other in her year, however she is no more but mediocore at any other subject placed in front of her.

Aside from her proficiency with plants, she enjoys baking and quilting — often getting called an 'old soul' by adults and 'boring' by her peers. She makes her own clothes and has a unique sense of style. Despite being rather bashful about it, she enjoys expressing herself.

She can be naive. In her first years at Hogwarts, she was taken under the wing of the Hufflepuff head girl, but when she graduated, Margot was left on her own accord; now taking the initiative herself on who she was going to interact with. And despite having been warned countless times by other classmates of hers, her key candidate for friendship was Jacob: the guy who nobody likes.

• She's Jacob's closest friend (or how close anyone could be to him).

• She's the only one who truly knows what happened to Jacob at the end of their 5th year... but she never told anyone.

• She's actually quite strong — despite being a full blood wizard, she carries pots and sacks like any ordinary person would. Since her grandfather was non-magical, she didn't want to make him feel bad growing up, so she used her magic as little as possible as a child, and it stuck even once she entered Hogwarts.

• Out of all four, she probably has the most friends, she's hard to dislike, and she gets along well with students below her year.

• Her Kneazle often gets into trouble— sneaking out her dorm and such. Margot accidentally broke curfew a few times because of it.

● Hugo Lockrune

• Patronus: Weasel

• Wand: Swishy flexibility, Dogwood, 15inch–Billywig Stinger

• Hugo is a Gryffindor known in their year for being quirky, mischievous, and completely unpredictable. He's muggle-born and lives with his parents and four younger siblings in London, where he helped in his father's workshop tinkering with mechanical parts and such. With a habit for endless pranks, nosy behaviour, and an endless search for thrill, adventure, and excitement—he isn't exactly considered popular or well-liked amongst his peers.

He is unable to hold genuine friendships for a long time due to his levity and tendencies to act like he knows better, being a self-proclaimed 'inventor' often tinkering on his next big project which "definitely wont blow up this time around."

Although his personality will be summed up by his peers as 'pesky' and 'bothersome,' there is denying his skill with both Transfiguration and Charms is exceptional.

• Jacob doesn't like him. He finds Hugo just as much of a pest as everyone else, but he feigns friendship.

• Hugo is very expressive. He's usually smiling and grinning; he laughs very easily but also flusters easily— though he doesn't cry much and he's not prone to anger, but he is very haughty.

• He doesn't have consistent ideas it's all very spontaneous. Imagine nerd emoji "eureka" moment.

• He differs a decade from his little siblings – they're quadruplets – he has three little sisters and a younger brother, and he's surprisingly easygoing with children.

• His uncle is also a wizard and the one who gifted Hugo his wand, meaning Hugo doesn't have a classic wand from Ollivanders.

● Rhian Yvaíne

• Patronus: Chestnut Mare

• Wand: Hard flexibility, Hazel, 10¾inch–Dragon heartstring

• Rhian is a Slytherin living in the shadow of her flamboyant twin brother – Reneé – who shares the same house. She excels at quidditch – the only thing she is better at than her brother – and is rather well-known around the school for her position as the teams' seeker. She hails from a pureblood family; her parents both passed away whilst running an errand for the Ministry, which left Rhian and her brother to their aunt.

She's calculated, cunning, and oftentimes presumed to be indifferent to most things whilst she's actually just notably good at keeping her emotions in-check aside from making rude faces and snide remarks under her breath; she's very non-confrontational preferring to be left alone most of the time.

She's good at duelling and flying and can be rather competitive.

• Jacob actually thought she was one of his better classmates even before they started hanging out — She thought he was really weird.

• She was very 'manic pixie dream girl' in her first year because of how badly she wanted to be special— she actually had a lot of friends during that time but then she gave herself the ick one time and opted for a more 'cool lone wolf' vibe which drove most of her then friends away.

• She has no sense of humour... or pretends she doesn't. Hugo gets under her skin, and she wants to rip his throat out.

• Her and Reneé aren't close at all. If they didn't live together outside of school, they could almost be considered estranged. It's almost strange since they were really close growing up.

(They're all vaguely based on the Hogwarts Legacy game companions – or were – I think I lost the resemblance halfway through).

Callie is the quiet sort who prefers the company of books to people. So, a situation has happened. @oneirataxia-girl sent a message ‘You know it’s a tradition to answer every of Meg’s questions’ for the OC ask and as I was making a response, dumb me accidentally pressed the post button and then out of panic I deleted it. Now I feel like more of an idiot that I could simply edit it or save it drafts or make it private whatever so here is an alternative. This will be a ridiculously long post so here it is. I’m sorry I lost the message but I accept the challenge. I will skip some questions as I’ve already answered them in a previous post.

1. What's MCs favorite subject and why?

Charms just for the reason that she is good at it and is one of the few things that she likes that inherited from her dad plus her paternal grandmother was once a professorial (Wandless) duellist.

2. What does MC think about dragons?

Loves them but not to the same extent as Charlie Weasley does.

3. Did MC get the permission slip for Hogsmeade from the parents without any problems?

Juniper just asked her mum and she signed it without any problems. 

4. Butter beer or pumpkin juice?

Butterbeer, it makes her feel older and mature (even though she isn’t lol)

5. Does MC sleep with a stuff toy?

Not anymore no but when she was younger she had an ugly, green toy rabbit that she got as a gift from Jacob.

Sandwiches as a kid but she heading more into the soup direction.

R, since they dragged Jacob, Juniper and the rest into a whole conspiracy on top of losing her closest friend because of R.

Juniper’s greatest weakness is her loyalty. She likes to understand and see what a person has been through and believes that most people can be good so she often tries to befriend almost everyone she meets which can be exploited.

Absolutely loves them and loves to learn and interact with them. 

10. Angel or Devil?

Juniper would be an angel for the main fact that she is very good natured despite having moments of pettiness and vengeance.

11. Pessimistic or Optimistic?

Juniper leans more on the optimistic side of the spectrum but over the years at Hogwarts it slides over to the pessimistic side.

13. Selfish or sharing?

Depends on the context, in terms of herself she doesn’t share any details of her life to others but also if they need her help she’s always there. However she is also very stubborn and kinda has a tendency to do her thing so maybe more selfish.

14. How does MC eat kit kat? breaking the sticks or eating it as a whole?

Unfortunately, Juniper would eat it like a normal human being and breaks the sticks to but she would share it.

15. What is MC’s element?

It’s air because air can be quiet and gentle but it can also be dangerous and turbulent just like Juniper. 

16. Does MC have a part-time job for money?

No, she doesn’t need to worry about money, her father’s side of the family are quite rich.

18. Does your MC like Rowan?

Yes she does (platonically), what even kind of question is that. Rowan was Juniper’s first ever friend of her own age and was the few people she fully let into her life, like her family situation and how she truly feels about them and her guilt with the cursed vaults and Jacob.

19. Who does MC have a platonic relationship?

Bill Weasley. During Hogwarts he was a brother figure, pretty much the Jacob she wanted and after Hogwarts they ended working together in Egypt. They turn to each other when it comes to love advise and are there for each other when one of them is heartbroken and rejoice when one of them finds love again. Juniper was upset that didn’t make it to Bill’s wedding cause she would totally be his other best man and Juniper would make Bill her bridesmaid at hers. 

20. Who’s your MC’s non-NPC bestie? Any other MC?

Juniper is just recently made friends with Alvina and Hana.

22. What is MC’s blood status?

Juniper’s maternal grandmother was a half blood while her father’s side is pureblood which makes her technically a half-blood.

23. How is MC’s relationship with their family?

It’s complicated so lets break it down.

Jacob (brother): Perhaps the best relationship she has with her family. She admires Jacob and sees him as her hero. She was hurt when he disappeared and felt betrayed since he left only a year after their dad left. When Juniper finds Jacob again, she was so relieved that he was alive and that her quest was not in vain. When he disappeared, Juniper was less forgiving that time. They still argue a lot but she also bails him out many times.

Jalil Hasni (father): Juniper really doesn’t like her father, she views him as a traitor to the family because when Jacob got expelled, Jalil felt that Jacob brought dishonour to the family and left to work in Algeria. She also struggles with her identity as people have pointed out that they very similar, in their explosive temperament to their ambitious nature but Juniper refuses to accept that they are similar and often ends resenting those parts about her.

Julia Moss (mother): Juniper has a very emotionally sensitive relationship with her mum. She always had the sense that Julia preferred Jacob over Juniper and when both Jalil left and Jacob disappeared within a year span, it caused Julia to fall into a deep depression and when Juniper said she wanted to be with dad, it spiralled Julia into deeper despair. This caused Juniper to feel tremendous guilt and they ended up just tiptoeing around, constantly worried they would say the wrong thing leaving them emotionally distant to each other.

Okay so, I have been working on this for about a day and decided that I will split this into 4 parts, just to ease the workload.

Candy started as a self-insert, just like most of the MCs in the fandom (like i'm 100% sure most MCs here are self-inserts due to the "its your hgowarts story" thing) Same body and hair, eye colour and personality. Then time went by, a year precisely, and she grew to be a character on her own. I began to write her story in Year 1 as if she wasn't me at all, referring her as Candy instead of me. By now I know we are different even thought we look the same way.

And about Paula, it's the exact same thing with Candy. Paula is basically an insert of my younger sister, it felt a bit weird to be just "me" in the story and leaving my sister behind, so I decided to include her too. Wholesome isn't it? not really since the story and character writing duplicates

When it comes to the family dynamic, I get inspired to make comical and angsty sibling interactions thanks to my own experience with my sis (bless her honestly). I've seen people in the tags saying they relate to some of the interactions between the sisters, and that's thanks to my experience honestly 😅

(to be honest, most of my original characters have younger and older siblings because I really love wholesome sibling relatioships and because I also love and cherish my sister)

Then, my brain started working. I stopped thinking about the story of me and my sister, and began to be the story of Candy and Paula.

Also, the concept of two sisters (instead of just one person) looking for their older brother to fix their broken family was so interesting to me, how they grew to be better (or worse) people, the conflict between them, their relationship between them and other people.

Their adventures and misadventures. Will they stick together or split apart? Will they succeed or fail? How about Jacob? Do they love him or resent him for what he did? Do they give up or keep on searching for him? What about their mother, what's her reaction? How do they see their mother? Those are the questions I started to ask myself and I absolutely loved it.

I sometimes feel like I'm doing a bad job writing them, because I want people to think the story is as good as I think of it 😅

Sightseeing Part One

A/N: Hello everyone, welcome to this little one-shot of mine. I love the friendship between David Willows and Judith Harris that I and @judediangelo75 have developed. So, here’s a tale of David showing Judith around Liverpool, his home city.  Originally, I’d intended to show both the muggle and wizarding side of the city but then it got longer than I thought it would and didn’t want it to be a slog. So here’s part one to briefly show the muggle side, part two should be coming soon to show off the wizarding side.

Context: This takes place in the summer between second and third year so David and Judith are about thirteen here. Also my first time writing David’s mum, Rue (should be mentioned, her face claim is Fiona O’Carroll). Some mild spoilers for my ideas but I hope you all enjoy especially you @judediangelo75!

5th of July, 1986

Judith Harris hated the summer holidays, some people would be able to enjoy it, likely going to somewhere abroad with their family but that simply wasn’t an option for her. For Judith, leaving Hogwarts for several weeks meant being stuck with her mother. 

She tried keeping her head down but living under the same roof meant little chance of escape from being constantly subject to her mother’s judgements and cruelty. The tension at home was always so suffocating.

Recently though, she had received a letter from someone she knew, David Willows. The younger brother to Jacob Hall, a friend of her own brother, Jamal. Both of them had gone missing in their search for the Cursed Vaults, she supposed it was fitting for their younger siblings to get acquainted. 

First impressions when they had arrived at Hogwarts, David was stand-offish, sharp-tongued and short-tempered. He wasn’t afraid to go for low blows in a verbal spar or physically fight people much bigger than him. Oftentimes, they had stayed out of each other’s way. She never tried to pick a fight with him. Although, unlike most of their peers, he had never been unkind to her. 

Their friendship was a fairly recent development, only beginning at the start of their second year when they tried out for the recently vacant positions as Beaters on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Practice together meant more interaction especially as they both came under the mentorship of Erika Rath, Slytherin’s top Beater. It was during these practices that she had seen a different side to David.

Though he was aloof, they shared a remarkably high number of mutual friends, the most prominent of which were Penny Haywood and Rowan Khanna. When Judith had asked the two about their fellow Hufflepuff, both had spoken fondly of him. If they vouched for him, he surely couldn’t be that bad? 

Though he was snarky, that tended to be when he was aggravated by someone he didn’t like, he had a tendency to give his friends good-natured ribbings. Judith had happily returned the teasing, especially when it had come to her own and David’s respective crushes on Orion and Erika.

Though he could come across as aggressive with a foul temper, it took specific things to put him in such a mood. Namely... rumours about Jacob, especially so if someone dared to openly compare the two brothers. His ferocity wasn’t just to defend himself either, he had very nearly started a fight with an older Hufflepuff when they had made a derogatory comment towards Judith. A fight would have started if professor Sprout hadn’t intervened. They had barely known each other for a month at that point yet he’d still stuck up for her. Of course, she could handle herself but the sentiment was appreciated.

Other than that, Judith and David shared a love of art. Drawing together in silence, maybe occasionally asking how the other’s sketch looked, a peaceful respite from the stress they were under. They quickly gained a reputation on the Quidditch pitch as Hufflepuff’s star Beaters after their team handily defeated both Ravenclaw and Gryffindor 

Their titles as the ‘Heroes of Hogwarts’ had only served to connect the two further after conquering the Ice Vault. 

All in all, the two of them had formed a decent relationship.

Still, it was a surprise when Goliath, David’s eagle owl had arrived with a letter inviting her to come visit Liverpool for a week. An opportunity she had practically leapt at. Thankfully, the owl had found her bedroom window first. Judith shuddered to think how her mother would have reacted if she found out she was receiving letters from a boy, no matter how platonic the nature of it was.

Keeping that fact about her friend a secret from her mother was definitely the only reason she was currently making the journey. She was sure David would agree to making plans in advance if they wished to do something like this again, lest she risk her mother’s ire.

She had purchased muggle train tickets as soon as she could, sending Goliath back to his owner with the day and time she was expected to arrive. Though expensive, it was the swiftest, and most direct mode of transport between London and Liverpool.  

At least the weather had been nice with hardly a cloud in the sky. It had been relaxing, watching the landscape go by slumped back in her seat as the train had weaved its way through both city and countryside. Though it wasn’t nearly as hot as it could get in Barbados, it was still warm enough to justify her current attire, a yellow sundress with matching sandals. 

“Now approaching, Liverpool Lime Street.” The automated voice of the train echoed. Judith stood up smiling at the announcement as she retrieved her suitcase from the overhead luggage area. That was her stop, the end of the line, it would be nice seeing David again.

Liverpool Lime Street was a large station, two cylindrical dome roofs made up of mostly clear glass and metal provided cover for all train platforms, giving it a tunnel-like appearance. Archways made of stone and mostly filled by windows supported the upper half of the building from the front. Great, red pillars held up the right side, creating a pavement for both foot traffic and a road for vehicles into the station’s car park. 

David paced about, unable to keep himself from showing excitement. Wearing a plain grey tee shirt, denim jean shorts and black sandals for the hot weather. Occasionally looking around watchfully through the throngs of people going about their business. 

His letter to Judith had asked for her to find the car park at the station and she would be sure to run into him. From where he was, simply turning left after arriving at one of the train platforms, then continuing straight would assure it. 

It was about quarter past eleven, the time Judith said she was likely to arrive in her letter back. This would be the first time he had invited a friend around in a long while. 

Frankly, although he was excited, he couldn’t help but feel nervous about the whole thing. Though he and his mother Rue had reconciled somewhat, she had tried to persuade him into inviting someone other than Jamal Harris’s little sister. She assumed they were just Quidditch teammates who happened to share a history with the Cursed Vaults and that was it. 

It was only when David had told his mother the full story of their delve into the Ice Vault that she had relented. The curse had begun its most dramatic transformation midway through their match against Slytherin for the Quidditch Cup. Ice conjured by the vault had begun encompassing the school, threatening to overcome it entirely. 

Together, they, alongside Bill Weasley and Penny Haywood had made their way to the vault. Breaking the seal on the door had caused Penny and Bill to become trapped by the cursed ice; as well as unleash its guardian, an animated suit of armour held together by ice and frost.

In the midst of the Ice Knight trying to carve them up, Judith had used an Incendio that had briefly drawn its attention from David after he was cornered. Whether his mother liked it or not, Judith had saved his life. An invitation to his hometown was the least he could do for her.

He had initially wanted to face the vaults on his own. Though, that plan seemed doomed to fail before he had even set foot on the castle grounds after he had bumped into Rowan. Now, Judith was a part of an ever-growing circle of friends that David was slowly building up, an addition that he was glad for. 

He hadn’t thought much of her when he first arrived at Hogwarts. She had made no effort to seek him out, which was just fine for David at the time. Playing Quidditch with her though had shown him there was more to Judith Harris than first met the eye. 

Underneath her quiet exterior, she was fierce, witty and a hell of a lot stronger than she looked. The first time they sparred together, David hadn’t been expecting her to use a back kick on him. While she had at first been worried she overdid it, David had shrugged it off despite the sizeable bruise it had left on his stomach. If anything, it had just convinced him it was a good idea to spar with her further. Nothing would keep his own hand-to-hand combat skills sharp like fighting an experienced opponent.

A splash of bright yellow caught his eye, quite distinct amongst a sea of other colours. A dark-skinned girl about his age with long, brown-black locs tied back. Her gold eyes looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings before finally landing on David, getting a beaming smile from her. There was no mistaking who it was.

“Judith!” He called out enthusiastically, grinning back. 

“It’s good to see you David.” His friend answered, walking up to him and giving him a brief hug. One that he returned.

“Same here, welcome to Liverpool.” He replied, grandly gesturing to the outside of the station.

Judith rolled her eyes playfully, giving a brief scan of the view. There was a busy junction that ran alongside the station, vehicles coming from at least three different directions. A Neo-Grecian-style stone building and a white tower tipped with a room with blue windows dominated the view. Impressive in its own right but it would definitely be better to explore the city with David to really see what it had to offer.

“Thank you for the invitation, shall we?” Judith’s implication was clear to David, time to head off.

“Of course, mum is waitin’ for us in the car park. Just a heads up, she can be a bit... intense.” David warned.

‘Oh joy.’ Judith thought sarcastically, hoping David’s mum wouldn’t be an exact copy of her own...

She wouldn’t have long to wonder, moving along a pavement that ran parallel to the train platforms, towards the car park, separated from the rest of the station by a wrought-iron fence. A few cars were in it, without their owners of course. All except one.

In front of a silver Ford Escort stood a woman. Pale-skinned with shoulder length dark brown hair. She was dressed in a grey pinstripe suit, a pale pink shirt under it being the only other colour. Curiously, a small, sharp and serrated tooth was hung around her neck by a black thread. She held what appeared to be a red snakeskin handbag.

Brown eyes were fixed on the pair as they approached her, though especially on Judith. Clearly David had his mother’s eyes, ones that were intent on analysing Judith for their first meeting. Watching her warily in silent judgement, a stoic expression not giving anything away.

Judith could see what David meant. She didn’t like being watched ordinarily, it made her feel like she was being judged. Under Rue Willows’ gaze though, she couldn’t help but feel a nagging sensation at the back of her head, one that commanded attention. Not cruel exactly but not friendly either, it made Judith squirm. 

“I-it’s nice to meet you, Ms Willows.” Judith greeted quietly, anxious to see if there was any change in the woman. Receiving nothing but another glance over.

“Ahem.” David coughed, trying to defuse the tension. 

It worked, Rue finally spoke up after that prompt, “A pleasure to meet you too Judith.” She replied curtly, her accent making it clear she was from Ireland. She turned her attention to her son, taking a large pouch out of her handbag that clinked as she moved it before tossing it to David. “I was thinking, David. Maybe you could show Judith around the city centre? Even show her Under Mersey. Just be back by five, if you can.”

David’s eyes widened both at the statement and the amount of bronze, silver and gold staring back at him as he looked inside the pouch. Sure, they had talked about loosening the tight restrictions that had troubled their relationship since Jacob’s disappearance but something like this so soon was unexpected.

“Thanks mum.” David answered, sounding grateful for it.

Rue’s features softened slightly as a smile tugged at the corner of her lips, “You don’t want be carrying your case everywhere you go, do you Judith? Let me take it while you and David are out.” She asked, holding out her hand, sounding just a bit friendlier with her offer. Though despite it being phrased as a question, there was clearly no room for argument.

Judith handed her case over, “Thank you, Ms Willows.”

Rue only gave a nod of acknowledgement and a quick “Have fun.” as she put Judith’s case into the boot of the car before driving off.

“I see what you mean, intense is certainly a word for it.” Judith stated, “Question though, what’s an ‘Under Mersey’?

“Well, y’know how Diagon Alley is in London?” David asked as he started walking, getting a nod from his friend, “In every major city across England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland, there’s a place for wizards to go to, Under Mersey is Liverpool’s.” Judith hummed in understanding at that, she had never been to a wizarding community outside of London.

“But, how about a brief tour of the muggle side first? There’s a couple of iconic places in walking distance from here. Any other bits of history, I can just tell you about.” David suggested.

“Whatever you want David,” Judith shrugged, “This is your city, let’s see what it’s got.” The two friends stepped out onto the streets of Liverpool catching the scent of the sea on the wind. The general style reminding Judith of the inner city of London. Buildings being tightly packed together, only allowing roads through. Little to no space for alleyways turning the city centre into a maze of roads.

David grinned at her statement, “Well then Miss Harris, on your right you will see St George’s Hall. A big concert venue, mostly for dead posh events.” He said, making a show of it as he pointed out the stone building Judith had seen previously, “However, if you fancy more modern tastes, to your left you’ll see Radio City, Liverpool’s local radio.”

Judith chuckled at her friend’s showmanship, “Are there any music venues we could go to?” She asked as the two of them crossed the junction, content to follow David’s lead.

“Closest one to us is the Cavern Club. Mostly does local bands, Jazz, Rock and Roll, R&B, that sort of music.” Judith grinned, that was the sort of music she could get into, David wasn’t done with his little tour as they began walked through the streets, “Though it’s only open on a Thursday nowadays. It’s not the original, that was the cellar of a warehouse on Matthew street that got filled with cement when they were goin’ to construct part of an underground railway but it didn’t happen in that part of the city. They tried excavating the place to reopen it but there was too much damage to the structure. So they just built a new one on the same street.”

Judith’s brow furrowed at that, it was definitely an interesting piece of the city’s history but in retrospect it seemed to have been a waste of time.

“But Liverpool itself has been around since 1207, though it didn’t gain much prominence as a port until the 17th century.” David explained before pointing off further in the distance. ��Up that way is the Pier Head, used to be where a lot of the goings on at the docks were handled earlier this century. More recently though, Liverpool produced one of the most famous bands in the Muggle world just over twenty years ago. They performed in the original Cavern Club, speaking off, we’re coming up to Matthew Street, right now.”

David suddenly turned onto Matthew Street, Judith following close behind him. It was clear to see where he was heading with the street being devoid of any foot traffic.

Judith cocked an eyebrow at this, “I thought you said this was only open on Thursdays?” She asked as they now stood in front of the black archway, the doors of the club very clearly closed and likely locked tight.

“Oh it is,” David confirmed, “But this also the only way I know of to get into Under Mersey.” He continued, stepping beneath the neon sign of the club into the archway. 

“How do you do it?” Judith asked, giving him a slightly sceptical look.

“Take my hand, brace yourself, and you’ll see.” David said, offering his hand to her. Judith took it tentatively, joining him at his side. David tapped his foot six times, the first two beats were slower than the next quick four before he then said, “Hey Jude.”

At first, Judith thought he was addressing her, though she only managed to get out a “Wh-” before she felt her stomach lurch as she and David fell through the pavement beneath them.

Which characters do you want to meet each other that haven’t yet or are probably never gonna? It can either be a crossover between the Quidditch cast & the main story cast or just the main story cast.

The way I see it, HPHM can be divided into four categories. The Main Story, the Creature Sidequests, the TLSQs, and the Quidditch seasons. Now, the Main Story and Quidditch are very self contained, so I don't see anything particularly special happening in those cases. We'll probably get Charlie added to Quidditch at some point, but that's about it. The Creature Side-quests could do so much more, but for some reason they centralize Penny. When like...Liz, and Barnaby, and Charlie could have been the ultimate team for those quests. Needless to say, I want them to show up more. Hell, the devs could even drop wink-at-the-audience allusions to the fan theory that Charlie's friends, who picked up Norberta, were actually some of the HPHM kids. Far as I'm concerned. Barnaby and Liz were part of that group.

The TLSQs are the answer, as far as I'm concerned. They're much more open and just about anything can happen within them. We could have the Quidditch characters meet the regular cast, and so on. But as far as meetings that I want to see happen, I badly wish to see Merula meet Skye and Orion, for very different reasons. Skye and Merula should, in theory, become best friends. But their particular qualities mean that they would despise each other and that would be hilarious to watch. Same goes for Merula with Orion, I want to see the hijinks that ensue when this unstoppable Slytherin meets that immovable sage. The other example that comes to mind is one that will make @theredwolfisalesbian happy. Percy and Beatrice. I can't remember if they've ever interacted onscreen but if so, it wasn't especially memorable to me. I want to see these two meet and how their differences result in humor. Speaking of the younger characters, I just want to see more of Elora Dunn in general, and I think it would be cool to see her meet MC's old prefect. That reminds me! I really want Jacob to meet Bill. I want to see some tension between MC's big brother who's looked out for them all this time....and Jacob.

About vault!Jacob

As you might know, I strongly believe that vault!Jacob IS NOT real Jacob. There are just too many things both in Rakepick’s and his stories that simply don’t add up, and his behaviour is too odd and different from what we learnt about Jacob before Y5Ch30. And you know, when I say: “not real Jacob”, I was always thinking about some kind of an imposter sent by R. But what if vault!Jacob... is not a real person at all? Now, I admit that it might be too complicated for Jam City. However, the idea itself is kind of growing on me the more I think about it. Here, hear me out.

I want to start by mentioning my old theory about the House sigils which you can read: here (it’s not long). In particular, I’d like to focus on the Ravenclaw sigil as I still believe it refers to the Portrait Vault:

“There is some knowledge too terrible for the wisest to have, and so I locked those secrets away.”

The problem is that... it doesn’t really make sense. I mean, all other sigils fit too well certain vaults, in my opinion, so this one has to be about the Portrait Vault, but... we didn’t really have anything here about knowledge or secrets. 

One of my first ideas of how it could work was that the Vault influences people to reveal their secrets. So, maybe that’s even why Rakepick betrayed us. The question would be why Rakepick was the only one influenced by that? Or what happens if someone goes to the Vault alone? It wouldn’t really matter then if they revealed their own secrets to themselves. No, we need some more “universal” rule.

Then, I came up with the idea that perhaps the Portrait Vault can create some kind of illusions to actually hide secrets. I think it makes sense especially when you consider the Legilimency door placed there. Because that’s one of the things that I keep wondering about - what was its point? The Legilimency element was totally random, it didn’t go with the theme of the Vault at all. Or did it? Was it a clue that the Vault can affect one’s mind, just like Legilimens can do it with other people? Let’s take a look at the sigil again:

“There is some knowledge too terrible for the wisest to have (...)”

What truth would be too hard for MC to accept? That Jacob wasn’t in the Portrait Vault after they spent the whole year thinking that he’s trapped there. So, to “help” them cope with that, the Vault created vault!Jacob. 

And let’s talk about him a bit more. From the very beginning, he caused quite a lot of emotions in the fandom, but my early reaction actually was: “Hm, it looks familiar...” - and I’m not even talking about Jacob himself, but about his outfit. You see, Jacob’s model is quite a disaster, starting with hair and ending with MC’s height. And while I do like his outfit overall, I have to say that it also looks... weird on him. It’s just... too mature, I guess? It’s like @/wilhelminafujita once said, it’s as if Jacob was playing dress-up with his father's clothes (and his kid model definitely doesn’t help the case). However, if you look closer...

At first, I thought that it shows how Jacob and Rakepick were close enough for him to start mimicking her. In fact, I kept this headcanon while designing my own Jacob’s outfit. But what if it was the Vault that used Rakepick’s image to design vault!Jacob?

I can hear you say: “Why would it use Rakepick from all people?”. Well, I can see two possibilities:

vault!Jacob was created when MC was opening the Legilimency door. They didn’t know yet then that Rakepick will betray them. Even though the game always insisted that MC didn’t trust her, Rakepick was still their mentor and authority figure, they spent quite a lot of time together.

vault!Jacob was created at the very same moment when MC looked at him. Then, MC already thought about Rakepick as “evil”, but she still represented a powerful witch and a great Curse-Breaker. I imagine that MC would want to see those traits in their brother.

Both situations would explain why the illusion was created only for MC: they were the one to interact with the Legilimency door AND the first to enter the inner chamber. Plus, it might be related to MC’s family connection to the Cursed Vaults in general.

Another interesting thing about vault!Jacob is that MC almost always meets him alone after the Portrait Vault. Yes, we know about other people seeing him, like Madam Pince and Madam Villanelle, but notice that neither of them comments on his appearance, for example. Like, how we’re supposed to interpret that? Did Jacob age in the portrait or not? And if not, why nobody is surprised by that? Frankly, I suspect that both women might’ve seen real Jacob instead, but that’s a separate topic.

(Side note: if vault!Jacob was indeed created based on MC’s mind, it could explain his “adult” outfit and younger appearance. The Vault would use Rakepick as a reference for the first one, but the rest would be based on how MC remembers Jacob from before he went missing.)

Anyway, back to MC meeting Jacob alone. Even the last time in Y6Ch26, Charlie left us right before Jacob was about to appear. Yes, he had a good argument that it should be a private conversation, but interestingly, Charlie is a person who was optional for the Portrait Vault - meaning that for some players, Charlie didn’t meet Jacob at all. The only person who saw him with us outside of the Vault is Merula who was a fixed companion. Could it suggest that only people who were in the Portrait Vault might be influenced by the illusion of vault!Jacob?

I was wondering about Jacob’s behaviour during the meeting with Merula as well, and how he immediately supported her “kill or be killed”. You see, I was always bothered by it because it seems to me to be almost out of character for Jacob presented in earlier years. I believe that he’d want to bring Rakepick to justice, but he’d be against killing. However, if vault!Jacob is indeed some kind of mental projection, perhaps he simply mirrored Merula and her expectations. She wanted someone to support her idea, so he answered to that. Why would he do that though? Well, I guess I should specify in this place why he might exist outside of the Vault, to begin with.

The Nearly Headless Nick SQ suggested that whatever is in the final vault is something dangerous which has to be held imprisoned. So, maybe that something wants to be freed? Maybe vault!Jacob wasn’t created exactly by the Vault like I said, but by that “something”. That’s why Jacob keeps running away from MC without explanations, covering it with excuses about protecting them: to force them to chase after him. That’s why he supported Merula: to make her more likely to go along with his plan if it’d be necessary. The Cursed Vaults might be defending themselves from any intruders, but whatever is guarded by them desires to break free. And vault!Jacob is supposed to make sure that it’ll happen.

The Venturi Family

I wanted to make a post about my MC’s family, since their reactions to some parts of the gameplay have been noodling around in my brain. Only the immediate family though. 

Jacob Derek Venturi

FC Michael Seater 

Jacob was the first born son of Abigail Rowle and George Venturi, and the older brother of Edwin and Marti Venturi. He was the one out of his siblings to spend the most time with his parents together and while their separation was hard for him to deal with at first he started noticing his mother was in a better mood and overall better to be around after the separation.  Jacob was four years old when his little brother Edwin was born and ten years old when Marti was born, as such his relationships with them were different. With Edwin they were more brothers than anything and often he teased him as much as played with him and bossed him around. Marti however due to him being younger and their parents separating when she was still in diapers he became much more a doting older brother. He did however care about and was protective of both his siblings. 

He had a good relationship with his parents though he was a bit closer to his father because of him keeping custody of him and his siblings. Abby visited and kept him for weekends so overall he was fairly affectionate and close to both of them. He knew he could get away with more with his father since out of the two, he was a bit more lax in parenting and could often take advantage of that though  since the separation was civil they tended to stick together when he was -inevitably- punished for something [ ‘’why can’t you not get along like most divorced parents..yeah i know grounded.’’]

Personality-wise Jacob was charismatic and outgoing, which gained him a lot of friends wherever he went. Having been an only child for four years and then still the eldest, and been born to fairly young parents  who could be said to be a bit soft on him, he grew up with the mentality that he could get get away with things if he just figured out how to get what he wanted. He was sneaky and a bit snarky and was known for pulling pranks and getting in trouble but it was mostly kid stuff..until his alleged involvement with [Redacted] after his disappearance came through. He was known in his time at school as an affable and charismatic kid,  if a bit known for getting Howlers and well acquainted with the detention process.

Due to how long he has been missing. ( he was sixteen when he went missing and would have been twenty one as of Marti’s first year.)  The case of his disappearance has more or less gone cold. 

George Antonio Venturi

George works as an wizard attorney. He’s an alumni of Hufflepuff house and married one of his closest friends ( Abigail) straight out of Hogwarts. This was done partly so that Abigail could escape an incredibly toxic home. However, if you asked him he’d say at the time he did love her. 

It became apparent however as time passed ( and three children were born) their marriage seemed to become strained. They separated with George keeping custody of the kids. 

Due to his own strict upbringing, he has a very lax style of parenting, often trying to be their kids friend as well as parent: ( More so with Jacob than Ed and Marti since Jacob caught him younger) an approach he also takes with his step children.  While this can often catch him criticism there’s no question his children adore him. 

He was really close to his son Jacob and losing him was absolutely devastating to him. If it wasn’t for his other two kids he might as well not have been able to keep going. 

His dating and marriage to Nora was something he was hesitant about ( not in the least because there were children involved on both sides but also because of how badly losing his son had hit him)  but it  has helped him move forward after all the grief he experienced.

Abigail Leticia Rowle

FC :  Amy Adams

Abigail comes from a highly extremist and toxic family. The Rowles affiliated with Voldemort during the first wizarding war and had very high expectations of the children of their house. For Abigail, Hogwarts was an escape; one that she knew wouldn’t last long as she would have to leave upon graduation. This is something that she knows influenced her decision to marry one of her best friend from Hogwarts who ( as a pureblood wizard) was also acceptable for her family and so wouldn’t bring retribution for them.

There’s no doubt she loved George but as time passed she realized she was’t happy. She had spent all her life in survival mode due to her parents and now that she was out she was starting to realize how much it influenced her decision. She loved her children, but she slowly realized she could not be a good parent to them in the state she was in. 

She separated from George ( after making sure her family could not contact her about  it) and more or less gave him full custody of their 3 kids with her doing visits to spend time with them. 

Her friendship with George survived this and they were still friends as exes and able to coparent ( though undoubtedly George did more as he had full custody, this was okay with both of them) However, Jacob’s disappearance put a strain in it neither one has been able to mend. Like George, Abby blames herself for how things with Jacob turned out and when things were at their worst they couldn’t help but project that blame to each other. She still visits Ed and Marti but her interactions with George are much more brief and cold. 

Edwin Alphonse Venturi

Jacob and Marti’s middle sibling and George and Abby’s middle child. Edwin was born when Jacob was 4-5 and is also 4-5 years older than Marti ( so is in his 5th year as of her first year and graduates after her second year) He’s a Ravenclaw and a foil to his extroverted outgoing little sister. Edwin is  much more likely to be found buried in books than around people. Due to Jacob’’s loss ( which happened in when he was 10-11)  and how much it affected him he is fiercely protective of his family. ( which Marti sometimes finds annoying though she is just as protective of him even if it shows less/differently ) 

He and Marti have a very “dork” “brat” relationship though they also have each other’s back unconditionally as they share the title of “Jacob’s sibling”

Unlike Marti tough, the wants to move on from Jacob and all the pain it caused him and as the game progresses is likely to react Badly to her thinking she can find him. Their beliefs about Jacob and reactions to his disappearance and rumors thereafter are already a strain between them as of year one. (Considering Plot happens from then on it’s safe to say it’ll only grow. )

10 facts about Edwin

Elizabeth  Blair -Lizzie- Mcdonald

FC: Jordan Todosey

Lizzie is a Hufflepuff and also Marti and Edwin’s step sister and George’s step daughter. She is Nora’s youngest daughter and how Nora met George. She’s the only witch in her family and became best friends with Edwin shortly after their  families blended ( actually George and Nora met Because they were both school shopping and Nora looked understandably lost ) She also has a pretty good big sister/little sister relationship with Marti. She’s in Edwin’s year and like him will have graduated as of Marti’s second year. 

Lizzie’s the embodiment of Hufflepuff’s traits of kindness and tolerance ( and patience, enough to befriend Edwin at his angriest) .She’s supportive of her family and friends and tends to be the voice of reason for whichever sibling she’s with. Her two main loves are animals and quiditch. She plays as a beater for the Hufflepuff team. She also has enough pets ( both magical and not) George jokingly got her zoo sign to put on her bedroom door. ( Marti liking snakes is absolutely her influence) She’s likely to wind up working in Magizoology. 

Nora Jean Mcdonald.

FC: Emily Deschanel 

The stepmother to Edwin and Marti Venturi and wife to George Venturi. Nora was introduced to the magical world when her youngest daughter turned 12 and received her Hogwarts letter. She started dating George when Edwin and Lizzie were 13 and Marti was 8. She adores her husband and his kids and from the get-go made a point to treat them as her own. 

Cassandra Imogen Mcdonald 

FC: Cassidy Freeman 

Nora’s first daughter. Her mother married George Venturi when she was 17-18. Went to an all girls school while her sister went to Hogwarts. As such she doesn’t have much interaction with the magical world or her stepsiblings, though she was exposed to it before moving out of her parent’s house. She does keep in touch with them though even if she’s more distant. She lives with her girlfriend Emily Davis ( fc Madeleine Mantock)  in muggle Brittain. She cares a lot about her mom and little sister, and is happy they have people to help them through everything that comes from navigating the magical world.

Ozzie the Owl

Ozzy belonged to Jacob and was named after a musician he liked.  After Jacob’s disappearance he was almost given away by a grief stricken George but was saved by Edwin. He resides with Edwin in Ravenclaw tower and is for all intents and purposes his owl. 

Mickey the Snake

Mickey is a grass snake ( a smooth snake specifically) that was found hurt by Marti on one of her visits to her mother. After he was nursed back to health Marti decided to keep him. He lives in Marti’s room. Marti’s very attached to him. 

Ignoring Lizzie’s pets because as said before that would take a whole nother post.

why is your favorite trope friends to enemies to lovers? Shows up both with Jacob/Duncan and the reincarnation au lol

LOL, is it really my favorite trope? I had no idea! 😂 

I think based on the Jacob/Duncan and the modern!Batticus comparisons, you meant “enemies to friends to lovers” -- even though, really, I don’t think I’d say Bat and Grim were ever enemies,  exactly, Grim just had a one-sided rivalry with Bat’s BFF Barty...and even in Jacob/Duncan’s case, it was more short-lived smolders of one-sided resentment on Ashe’s side than anything. 

But as to why those couples go through an evolution from being on not-so-good-terms to being friends to falling in love, I think what it really comes down to for me is that 1, I like contrasting couples, and 2, I prefer romantic relationships that start as friends first. Even the ships I get passionate about that don’t actively fight and banter usually have some element of contrast, where one side has flaws and strengths that compliment and counteract the other’s. Some examples of couples I really enjoy include:

Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter) ~ Definitely got plenty of bickering here, but yeah, besides that, Ron is the more common-sense- and action-oriented of the two, while Hermione is more methodical and bookish. 

Remus/Sirius (Harry Potter) ~ No real bickering in the actual books (fanfiction tends to write them more tempestuously), but Remus is the calming, soothing influence to Sirius’s wild, reckless emotions. 

Eliza/Goliath (Gargoyles) ~ Almost never bicker, but Eliza is a sometimes judgmental, but kind police detective working inside the law, while Goliath is an open-minded, but sometimes vengeful vigilante working outside of it. 

Elizabeth/Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) ~ The quintessential example of bantering romance, but still -- Elizabeth is sociable and hot-blooded, while Darcy is quiet and cool. 

Fakir/Ahiru (Princess Tutu) ~ Quasi-enemies to start with, but only because they approach wanting to protect their “prince,” Mytho, in completely different ways -- once they come together to achieve that goal, they’re more likely to both bicker like a married couple and support each other when times get hard, which is helped out by Ahiru being this klutzy, awkward ray of sunshine and Fakir being this intelligent, tight-ass anti-hero with a heart of gold. 

Mytho/Rue (Princess Tutu) ~ Enemies only because of the roles they play in “the story” written by the magical Storyteller Drosselmeyer -- in truth, neither of them sees each other as an enemy, and the fights they get into are actually very drama-heavy rather than it being just about them having opposite personalities. Though of course Mytho is a Prince Who Loves and is Loved by Everyone and Rue is this slightly arrogant, but sophisticated and devoted prima ballerina who longs for unconditional love. 

Tiana/Naveen (The Princess and the Frog) ~ Opposites in every way, and they bicker enough in the beginning to make it obvious, with Tiana being an ambitious, ridiculously driven stick-in-the-mud and Naveen being a spoiled, devil-may-care playboy. 

And yeah, even looking at the ships with my MC’s, one can see an “opposite” theme running through them.

Carewyn/Orion ~ Carewyn is an organized planner who takes the burden of the whole world on her shoulders. Orion is a philosophical free spirit who prefers to detach from the world and live free of anyone else’s expectations. 

Jacob/Ashe~ Jacob is a hot-tempered, eccentric, book-smart, people-dumb spaceman. Ashe is a cool, ambitious, cynical, emotionally intelligent tsundere. 

Erik/Roxy @mira-shard ~ Erik is a foul-mouthed, logical, ill-tempered warrior-type. Roxy is a compassionate, emotional, patient healer-type. 

Ana/Charlie @drinkyoursoupbitch ~ Ana is an introverted, mistrustful writer with a talent for History of Magic and wizard dueling. Charlie is an extroverted, trusting dragonologist with a talent for magical creatures and flying. 

Jackson/Monty @cursebreakerfarrier ~ Jackson is a melodramatic, flashy showman. Monty is a quiet, intellectual scholar. 

Bat/Grim @cursebreakerfarrier ~ Bat is an academic Muggle-born soldier who prefers to screw the rules and has no interest in public approval. Grim is a by-the-books professor and veteran of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement who strongly believes in doing things “the right way” and, when he was younger, was very focused on fulfilling his father’s high expectations for him. 

Ru/Estrid @thatravenpuffwitch ~ Ru is a wild, rude, eccentric Kelpie who pretty consistently gives the middle finger to all sorts of propriety or societal expectations. Estrid is a quiet, independent, compassionate witch who initially binds Ru to her just to keep them from hurting people. 

Perhaps because I’m on the asexual spectrum, I don’t really find as much joy out of the “enemies to lovers” trope, because for me, love should be built on friendship first. To me, one should like someone solely as an individual and as an equal before nurturing romantic feelings for them, and the word “enemies” insinuates that one can’t really like the person, since the two people would have to be on opposite sides of some sort of moral dilemma. It’s why even a ship like Zuko/Katara from Avatar makes more sense to me than one like Rey/Kylo from the new Star Wars films, even if I personally don’t ship either. (If you like either or both, that’s fine, though! Different strokes!) But yeah, I still find myself really enjoying it when two different people realize that they have a lot more in common than they thought and -- through their interactions with each other -- end up becoming more complete people. :)
