Cara x Steph (I hope Steph gets added to the show. Cara seems to love that girl and I love her too even though we haven't met her properly. As long as Cara is happy (AND CONFIRMED AS A LESBIAN SO CARA/CONNOR SHIPPERS STOP) then I'm happy.)

Zach x Connor (Listen, I have a vision. My brain conjured up this ship when I was rereading certain parts of GGBB for fic research and I was just sensing some chemistry between them. I just feel like they'd be so cute together.)

Andie x Sal (Rahul and India are gonna kill me as Andie and Sal in the show. Say what you want about Andie but she loved Sal with her whole heart.)

Honorary mention goes to Lauren x Cara. I saw this ship on Tumblr and really liked it. I feel like Lauren having a sapphic plotline to replace her involvement with Ant would be cooler. I don't like Lauren in the books but I am very curious what they'll do with her since Ant is absent.

2024 playoffs

first round

April 21, 2024

Hayden took a deep breath in closing her eyes. It was the first game of the first round of the playoffs.

Hayden rolled her shoulders stepping onto her home ice and she glanced up at the banner in the rafters smiling to herself seeing her Dad’s name.

Hayden always feels like she plays even better hockey in the playoffs and the score sheet always proves that.

Oilers won game one 7-4 against the Kings and Hayden already has two goals and two assists in the playoffs.

Hayden’s face softened immediately as she walked in to the family seeing Luke holding Lennon and wearing a jacket with Blake on the back.

“Two of my favorite people.” Hayden said softly as she walked over pulling Luke into a hug and kissing her goddaughter on the cheek. Luke leaned his cheek on top of her head.

Hayden smiled seeing the family room filled and everyone wearing playoffs jackets, all the jackets having patching with her name and number designed by Lauren.

Luke came to Edmonton right after he cleaned out his locker and Luke would be with Hayden until he left for Worlds. Jim, Ellen and Jack are currently with Quinn but Jack would be heading to Edmonton once the Canucks head to Nashville.

April 24, 2024

Hayden leaned against her car as Jack slowly wheeled his very large suitcase with one hand as his arm is still in a sling.

“I didn’t think you were getting here.” Hayden immediately teased him making Jack fondly roll his eyes, Jack had lost his passport when he was packing for Vancouver.

Hayden pulled him into a gently hug being mindful of his shoulder and Jack just melted into her, he hasn’t see her for a few weeks since he surgery.

“Let’s get home.” Hayden said softly as they pulled away. Luke was with Archie back at the house.

Hayden drove them back to her house and smiled seeing Luke and Jack hugging for a while, she needed to Jack’s room and she unpacked his bag for him letting Jack and Luke have some time together.

Hayden set the playoff jacket she got for Jack on his bed before heading downstairs to spend some time with her brothers.

April 30, 2024

Luke just gave Hayden a sad look as she took his suitcase out of the car. He was heading to Michigan for a bit before heading out to where Worlds are and would head to Worlds with Jim.

“I know buddy.” Hayden knew his look and she just pulled him into a hug.

Luke squeezed her tightly hiding his face in her shoulder.

“You’re gonna have so much fun.” Hayden said softly, “Matt, Connor, Will, Trevor and Cole will all be there and Jimmy will be with you.” She reminded him, they were all people Luke likes being around.

Luke sighed nodding.

“You’ll do great.” Hayden reassured him softly pressing a soft kiss to his head.

Luke kissed her cheek and they shared a smile before he waved softly and rolled his bags towards the airport.

May 3, 2024

Hayden held Jack’s hand tightly watching the clock tick down until buzzing and the Canucks won the game against the Predators they were heading to the next round.

Hayden and Jack both cheered for Quinn and smiled seeing a happy Quinn on the ice.

Hayden’s smile slowly fell remembering who the Canucks will be playing next round, The Oilers as the Oilers just clinched the first round two days ago.

Hayden would be playing against Quinn in the playoffs.

“I play against Quinn.” Hayden muttered, this was one of the worse things that could happen with having siblings on opposite teams.

Jack slowly grimaced relaxing how painful this is going to be because at the end of the days one of them is gonna win and the other is gonna be devastated.

May 7, 2024

Hayden let out a nervous breath as she heard the knock on her hotel room in Vancouver, she had just gotten into Vancouver a few minutes ago.

Hayden and Quinn decided to talk before the first game and after they finished would meet up with Ellen and Jack. Today would be the last day Hayden and Quinn spend any time together until after the playoffs ended.

“Hey.” Hayden said softly as she opened the door biting her lip nervously.

Quinn’s face softened at her nerves and he stepped inside her hotel room pulling his little sister into a hug.

Hayden let out a sigh relaxing into his hold closing her eyes.

“I hate this.” Hayden quietly admitted, she of course wanted to do good in the playoffs but she wanted Quinn to do well in the playoffs but within two weeks one of them would be knocked out of the playoffs.

“I know.” Quinn soothingly it said in return, he hates it too. He wants to win but at the same time that would kick his little sister out of the playoffs.

Quinn slowly pulled back and he cupped her face looking at her seriously, “No matter what happens when this round is over, you are still my sister and nothing can ever change that.”

Hayden softly nodded, “Promise?” She looked at him hopefully.

Quinn had to blink because all he could see was little Hayden looking up at him just like that the day they met and she asked him to come play too.

“I promise.” Quinn said firmly back and pressed a soft kiss to his sister’s forehead.

Hayden closed her eyes and hoped he was right.

May 8, 2024

Hayden’s knees bounced in the locker room before game one against Vancouver.

Ryan nudged her with his knee making her glance over and he gave her a reassuring nod and she slowly blew out breath.

Hayden closed her eyes taking a few deep breaths before she stood up and headed onto the ice getting ready for the game to start.

Hayden and Quinn shared one nod before focusing completely on their own games.

Hayden was out on her second shift and got a beautiful pass from Leon and she quickly hit the puck right into the net getting the first goal of game.

Leon crashed into her patting her head as Ryan crashed into her from the other side.

It was looking good for the Oilers at the start of the third period they were up 4-2. Hayden already had two goals.

But within five minutes getting changed. The Canucks got three goals in five minutes at the end of the third period.

Vancouver won Game one.

May 18, 2024

Hayden was talking her stick with her headphones on in her own zone getting ready for the game.

It was game six tonight.

Vancouver won game one, three and five. Edmonton won game two and four. Meaning if the Canucks win tonight they advance to the next round but if the Oilers win they go to game seven.

It was definitely hard playing against Quinn especially because the couldn’t hold back and think of each other like siblings on the ice right now. Hayden had to ignore the heavy hits her team was laying on Quinn and Quinn had to ignore the dirty plays his team kept doing to Hayden.

Hayden had a good feeling about this game tonight, they were home which always made her feel better.

She brushed her hand across the photo of her Dad on the wall before she headed out to ice for the game and her other held the necklace under her jersey for her Mom. She closed her eyes feeling as close to her parents as she could.

Hayden kissed her hand and gently touched the photo before tucking the necklace back under her jersey and heading onto the ice.

Hayden scored first only minutes into the game. Canucks managed to tie it up before the end of the first period.

Hayden was out with Connor and Hopkins and she got the puck from Connor and flipped it into the net getting the Oilers their second goal.

Zach got the next tool and the Oilers were leading 3-1 heading into the third.

Hayden got a breakaway in the beginning of the third period and hit the puck in between the goalies legs.

Hayden cheered and did a small celly as she just got a hat trick.

Oilers won game six 5-1.

May 20, 2024

“Hey Mack!” Hayden grinned as she walked out of the locker room before game seven in Vancouver.

Macklin beamed at her especially when she walked over and offered a hug and he eagerly hugged her back, “Hi Hayden!”

“Hi Aiden.” Hayden smiled shaking Aiden’s hand.

Aiden gave her a smile back softly shaking her hand.

Hayden talked with Macklin and Aiden for a few minutes before she needed to head back inside her locker room and start getting ready for the game but it was really nice seeing Macklin again.

Hayden braided her hair in french braid closing her eyes as she mentally got ready for game seven, they win tonight they head to the third round against the Dallas Stars.

Hayden headed out on the ice and lined up for the national anthems closing her eyes letting her head drop.

First period no one scored.

One minute into the second period the Oilers scored.

Hayden assisted on the second goal five minutes later.

There was five minutes left of the second period and the Oilers got a power play.

Connor got the puck from Leon in the front of the net and flicked it to the right passing to Hayden, Hayden hit a one timer right into the top right corner.

Oilers were leading 3-0 heading into the third.

Ten minutes into the third Hayden was in the corner of the boards battling a Canuck for a puck when another Canuck’s player came behind her and smashed her into the boards, specifically smashed her elbow the worse into the boards and her head smacked against the glass.

Hayden grunted and was immediately dropping to the floor, her right hand gingerly holding her left arm as she felt her nose bleeding.

She was by the board by her own net and Ryan and Nurse were both immediately having any Canucks players away as Skinner stood in front of her protective as Leon quickly kneeled down next to her and Connor got the trainers.

Quinn stood frozen on the bench, his sister was down on the ice because of a bad hit and he couldn’t do anything.

Jack gripped onto Ellen’s hand tightly as they both watched worriedly from the suite.

Hayden made an uncomfortable sound as the trainers touched her arm mostly her elbow and Connor helped Hayden keep the towel on her nose to stop her bleeding nose.

Hayden knew something was wrong on her elbow, it wasn’t really bad but it wasn’t good. Luckily it was not her shooting arm.

Hayden got up taking the towel from Connor and kept her head down skating right down the tunnel.

She headed right into the trainers room.

Hayden got looked over and was worried the whole time hearing the Canuck score two goals.

The Oilers managed to hold their lead and win the game, They were going to round three.

Hayden let out a slightly sad sigh knowing Quinn had just gotten knocked out.

Hayden headed back into the locker room after everyone was already there and immediately Ryan tossed a hat on her head.

“How bad Rook?” Connor asked her quietly but immediately as she sat down next to him and slowly took off her equipment.

“Could be a lot worse.” Hayden softly admitted feeling a bit better as she got some pain meds, “I can play.” She gave him stubborn look.

Connor shook his head softly and patted her head.

Hayden took a shower having a hard time showing with one hand but she managed to do it. She tossed a pair of shorts and a stairs on as they’re flying back to tonight.

The trainer came in with her brace and helped her out on a brace on her elbow to help it.

Hayden walked out of the locker room seeing Ellen and Jack both waiting looking nervous.

“Haydes.” Jack trialed off seeing her brace.

“I’m okay. A sprained elbow but i’ll be alright.” Hayden reassured both of them as Ellen pulled her into a hug first.

“You scared us.” Jack gave her a look before he hugged her next too. Hayden rarely goes down on the ice and has barely ever been brought down the tunnel like that.

“Are you okay?” Quinn spoke up as he slowly walked out of the locker room and to them. He looked devastated and his eyes were a bit red but he still looked at Hayden worried.

Hayden froze not expecting him to talk to her yet, “I will be.”

Quinn softly nodded and pulled her in a little hug before stepping back, he gave her a nod and walked away.

Ellen hugged Jack and Hayden once more before heading off with Quinn as Jack is heading back to Edmonton with Hayden.

It was bittersweet winning round two against her brother.

May 23, 2024

Hayden and Jack were slowly packing up her suitcase as Jack is still in a sling and Hayden has a brace on her sprained elbow and Hayden is heading out to Dallas in a few hours.

Hayden knew Ellen would be here soon as she stayed with Quinn for a bit in Vancouver but Hayden was unsure when she would be seeing Quinn next.

Luke and Jim are still currently at Worlds and Luke actually had a game today. Hayden had to reassure Luke a lot they she was okay after he facetimed her after her injury and was freaking out, she made sure Matt checked on him.

Hayden got her suitcase up slowly after they closed and carried it down the stairs with one hand as Jack carried her backpack down for her and just as they reached the bottom of the stairs the door opened and Hayden looked up seeing Ellen.

Hayden froze seeing who walked in behind Ellen, "Q?" Hayden's voice wavered.

Quinn smiled at his sister and she quickly walked right to him hugging him, "Hi Haydes." Quinn could have went to Michigan after his season ended but he still wanted to support Hayden.

"You here?" Hayden looked up at Quinn with tears in her eyes, she's been so worried that the playoffs might have messed up their relationship and she didn't know when she would be seeing him again.

Quinn's face softened, "Of course i am."Quinn reassured her softly making her smile watery and hide her face in his chest hugging him.

May 25, 2024

Hayden sat in her stall in Dallas for game two, Oilers had won game one 3-2.

Hayden was having a little hard time playing with her elbow being sprained but nothing she couldn’t play through.

Hayden was at her first two games in Dallas with Jack, Ellen and Quinn still in Edmonton. Luke had just gotten out at Worlds and would be coming to Edmonton with Jim in a few days.

Hayden was skating in the second period of the game right near the boards and saw a stars player in front of her and went to the right closer to the boards. She’s really good at dodging hits but when she is cornered by three players and no where she can go, she can only dodge so much.

Hayden couldn’t move away as she had one player in front of her and one behind her, someone skated right to her on her left side and cross checked her extremely harshly on her ribs, there was a sickening crack and Hayden let out a chocked sound immediately crumbling to the ice.

Her team was immediately getting the stars players away from her.

Hayden has never felt so much pain before and felt her breath wheeze as her eyes were squeezed tightly with tears starting to roll down her cheeks and her jaw clenched so tightly her teeth were grinding.

Connor quickly kneeled down in front of her as the rest of the Oilers on the ice all started fighting the stars players for that extremely dirty play.

Connor froze seeing how much pain she is, he’s never seen her look like they, he grabbed her free hand letting her squeeze his hand so tightly, “Where is it?” He asked her.

Zach was getting the trainers on the ice immediately.

Hayden just made a small whimper shaking her head, she couldn’t even open her mouth form how much pain she was in.

It was an agonizing amount of pain and Hayden didn’t even want to roll over.

The trainers shared a very worried look seeing where her pain is from and how pain she was in.

“Can you get up?” One of the trainers asked her after many moments down on the ice.

Hayden has now been down on the ice for over three minutes worrying everyone at the game and watching the game.

Hayden grunted trying to move and slowly shook her head.

“Want help or a stretcher?” The trainer asked knowing her injury is gonna be hard to sit up with.

“Help.” Hayden decided.

Ryan was immediately on the ice the second he was allowed and skated right to her holding her hand.

Connor, Leon and Ryan H all slowly lifted her up as Ryan squeezed her hand and the trainers made sure she was lifted correctly.

Hayden was completely pale shaking as she was lifted up, it made the pain even worse, she bit on her lip to keep in the painful sounds as she was picked up.

Hayden let out a unsteady breath as she was on her two feet again, she kept blinking from her much pain she was in.

Hayden was slowly guided to the bench and the boys helped her onto the bench and she went down the tunnels with the trainers.

Hayden broke two of her left ribs that game.

Matt was completely frozen as he watched the game, he didn’t even realize the way Luke was gripping his hands completely shaking as they watched Hayden stay down on the ice for five minutes and needing help getting up.

Jim was sitting next to Luke and had covered him mouth watching the girl he sees as daughter go down on the ice.

Will was sitting next to Connor and they leaned into each other. Cole was sitting next to Trevor and Trevor was holding onto Cole as they all watched the game in Prague.

“What if she-“ Luke started speaking his breathing completely uneven as he watched his big sister get hit and fall to the ground not getting back up for a while, he could tell she was in pain and he has never seen her in that much pain before and he’s thousands of miles away form her.

Matt snapped out of his shock at Luke’s words and he squeezed Luke’s hand, “She will be okay, go get your bag we will head to the airport.” Matt shakily told Luke.

Luke shakily nodded and Jim helped Luke stand up, Jim and Matt shared a nod before Jim guided Luke to the rooms to get their bags.

Matt let out a shakily breath running his hands in his hair and glanced over seeing Connor and Will’s scared faces, “She will be okay.” He softly reassured the two boys who Hayden has basically adopted, Matt gently pulled them both into a hug rubbing their backs.

Matt, Luke and Jim were talking the first flight out to Edmonton.

May 26, 2024

It was a really long flight back to Edmonton for Hayden and she used Ryan as a pillow the entire flight, she was extremely uncomfortable and in pins the entire flight, she couldn’t find a way to sit without any pain.

Hayden was really slow to walk down the plane stairs with Connor helping her.

Connor drove Hayden to her house and Ellen, Jack and Quinn were all waiting outside.

Jack got to her first and Hayden gave him a weak smile grabbing his hand gently, Jack lost so much tension seeing her in person even if she obviously isn’t okay.

“Oh darling.” Ellen said softly cupping her face and she could cry tears of relief. Hayden closed her eyes leaning into Ellen’s soft touch.

Quinn helped Connor get Hayden’s bags inside before Quinn walked over to Hayden kissing her head softly.

Connor left soon after.

Ellen had the boys help Hayden to the guest bedroom on the first floor that is barley used and helped set Hayden up in bed with a lot of pillows and Ellen grabbed more of Hayden’s medication for her.

Jack laid down softly next to Hayden frowning at the painful look on Hayden’s face.

Hayden slowly fell asleep finally, at least for an hour.

Matt, Jim and Luke all rushed to Hayden’s house and walked inside as Ellen walked down the hallway and saw the three all looking worried and stressed.

“She broke two of her ribs but is okay and she’s is sleeping in the guest room.” Ellen calmly told the three as she leaned into her husband’s side, Jim relaxing a bit because of her.

They all walked into the guest room seeing Hayden slowly waking up and Quinn and Jack both laying with her.

Quinn and Jack got up seeing them and they both hugged Luke.

Luke barely even realized they were hugging him just starring at her. Hayden’s eyes fluttered open and saw Luke standing here, she softly patted the spot next to her on her good side.

Luke softly sat down and looked at her with tears in his eyes, Hayden let her lean his head on her shoulder and she hugged him with her good arm. Luke’s shoulders shook with emotions, he’s been so scared since he saw her go down in game seven and then she went down again yesterday and it was seven worse.

Hayden softly kissed his curls rubbing Luke’s back as Jim walked over and gently kissed her cheek, Jim squeezed her hand softly and she smiled emotionally.

Hayden made eye contact with a worried Matt.

Luke sniffled and slowly lifted his head and Hayden gently wiped his tears, “I’m okay bud.” She softly reassured him, she’s injured but she is okay.

Luke slowly nodded letting out a few shaky breaths.

Ellen noticed Matt’s look and she slowly guided Jim, Jack and Quinn out of the room.

Luke glanced up as Matt walked over and he got up, “I’ll be right back.” Luke said softly kissing her cheek before walking out.

“You didn’t have to come.” Hayden told her best friend holding out her hand a tiny bit for him to take. Matt took her hand and softly sat on the bed next to her.

“Of course i did.” Matt had to be here. He sat on the flight thinking the entire time worried about Hayden and he knew he couldn’t just wait any longer and not tell her what he feels for her.

Matt just looked at her for a while, Hayden has been his best friend for years and the girl he has been in love with since he met her. For years he was content to just be her friend and slowly over the years he became more flirty with her but he couldn’t wait anymore, even if Hayden doesn’t feel the same he needs her to know.

Hayden made a confused sound as Matt cupped her face and leaned closer to her. Her brows furrowed as he leaned closer to her looking at her before he pressed his lips to her.

Hayden froze in complete shock even if she melted a bit into the kiss. She has never had a kiss that didn’t make her uncomfortable until right now even if she was extremely confused.

Matt felt like one of his dreams came true u till he realized she wanted kissing him back.

Matt sighed against her lips and pulled back slightly seeing the confused look on her face, “I’m sorry.” Matt quickly apologized as he didn’t even ask if he could kiss her and she didn’t kiss him back, he didn’t know she didn’t kiss back before because she was confused.

“What?” Hayden sputtered out confused as the kiss and now Matt was quickly pulling back and standing up backing away. Her head was still a bit foggy from her pain meds.

“I should let you rest.” Matt quickly rushed out and flashed a remorseful at her, “I’m sorry Hayden.” He rushed out of the room.

“Sorry for what?” Hayden mumbled to herself confused why it hurt more watching Matt walk out than her ribs breaking yesterday.

Jack walked in a few moments later having saw Matt walk out and he saw the hurt look on Hayden’s face and he quickly walked over letting Hayden use him as pillow and softly rubbed her arm.

Hayden was just so confused.

May 27, 2024

Hayden had a hard game in game three against Dallas. She was in a lot of pain because of ribs and her elbow as well and her head just was not in the right place after yesterday with Matt.

Oilers lost game three 3-5.

Matt had stayed in Hayden’s home as the Hughes all went to her game and he saw her game and how off she was and knew a lot of it was because of him.

He hoped he hasn’t messed up his friendship with her and he didn’t make her uncomfortable because of the kiss.

Matt booked a flight and closed up his bags once the game was over and when he heard all of them get home and knew Hayden was laying back in the guest room he brought his bags down.

Matt slowly opened the door making Hayden quickly look at him, “I’m heading home tonight.” Matt said before she could say anything and her jaw closed quickly.

“You’re leaving?” Hayden asked softly her tone full of hurt.

“I’m sorry Hayden. I hope the playoffs go well.” Matt couldn’t even look at her and he turned around walking out.

Hayden frowned deeply watching him leave again. He didn’t kiss her forehead like he always does.

Jack narrowed his eyes at Matt waking through the front door and leaving, Jack shook his head.

Matt was right about him distracting her because she did play better the next game and Oilers won game four but it still hurt her seeing him just leave like that.

June 2, 2024

Hayden’s eyes filled with tears as the buzzer went off, she was going to the Stanley Cup. She did it.

Hayden laughed emotionally as all of her teammates gently hugged her, being carefully of her injuries.

The lays time the Edmonton Oilers went to the Stanley Cup Finals, Her Dad was on the team and now the Oilers are back at the Stanley Cup again and with a Blake again.

June 4, 2024

It was Hayden’s twenty third birthday but also the sixth anniversary of her parent’s death.

Hayden still does not like to celebrate her birthdays at all so she is just spending the day with her family and Ellen is gonna make dinner.

Jack grabbed Hayden’s hand when he walked into the kitchen seeing her in the kitchen watching Ellen do something and pulled her very carefully outside to the couch by the pool in the sun.

Jack knew they both needed a Hayden/Jack talk especially Hayden before the Stanley Cup started.

“Where do you want to start?” Jack asked her softly knowing she needs to talk.

“Matt kissed me.” Hayden blurted out fiddling with Jack’s good hand with her good hand.

Jack hummed softly having an idea he did and was waiting for her to tell him, “Is that a bad thing?”

“I don’t know.” Hayden softly admitted, “I’ve never thought of him that way or really anyone that way.” Hayden confessed, she’s kissed a few people and slept with someone but she never was interested and just stopped trying, She has never thought about thinking about Matt in any way other than platonic. He’s always just been her Matt to Hayden.

“That’s okay.” Jack soothingly told her, “There’s no rush to figuring out your feelings especially with the amount of emotions you have had the last couple of years.” Hayden has been through a lot of emotions since her parents died.

Jack had a feeling if Madison and Harrison were still alive, Hayden would have noticed her feelings for Matt a lot sooner probably even before their draft.

“I think what i feel for him is different than anyone else.” Hayden slowly admitted, she hasn’t slept much the last few days since Matt left and all she could think about is all of their last interactions and feelings she misread or missed.

“Yeah?” Jack hummed encouraging.

“I’m just confused.” Hayden said softly biting at her lip.

Jack slowly nodded, “Okay. Did you like the kiss?”

Hayden looked up at Jack and slowly nodded. She felt comfortable when Matt kissed her.

Jack smiled a bit, “Wanna kiss him again?” He said teasingly making her breathe out a laugh a very small laugh and winced as she did and she shook her head she couldn’t shove him as they are both hurt.

“Hayden i’ve known you forever and i’ve never seen you look at anyone the way you look at Matt.” Jack told her softly, “And Matt has always looked at you the same way.

“What is this ruins are friendship?” Hayden looked nervous.

“What if it doesn’t?” Jack said simply back, “Hayden most people already think you and Matt are dating.”

Her brows furrowed thinking over the way she feels at Matt smiling at her, the amount of times she has cuddled and slept next to Matt, the way Matt makes things feel easier just by a hug, how much closer she is with him then any of her other friends, going to visit just Matt alone for many days, how she always misses him almost as much as her brothers.

Jack watches the realization watch over Hayden’s face and she mutters a small, “Oh.”

Jack hummed softly as she looked back up at him, “I like Matt.” Hayden slowly admitted for the first time ever.

“Yes you do.” Jack softly agreed giving her a proud smile and gave her hand a soft squeeze.

“Okay what’s next?” Jack asked her knowing how their talks work.

Hayden let out breath, “I knocked out Quinn.” She said still looking guilty.

Jack slowly nodded, “You did.” He understood why she felt guilty for that.

“I know he doesn’t blame me but..” Hayden trailed off because she still hurt Quinn by her team winning.

Jack gave her a serious look, “It is not your fault that’s the Canucks were eliminated.” He said sternly.

“Q also does not blame you and he would be upset to know you feel guilty over this still.” Jack gave her a look.

Hayden nodded knowing this but she couldn’t help but feel guilty about knocking out her brother.

“Quinn’s over the playoffs already, you have to got to let it got too.” Jack told her making Hayden sigh but nod.

“Alright next?” Jack asked.

“I opened a new letter today.” Hayden told Jack. She’s opened a few letters from her parent’s over the years since she found the letters mostly birthday one but today she opened her first stanley cup letter.

Jack nodded understand, Hayden always gets a bit emotional when she opened letters, “Was it what you needed to hear?” Jack knew his Aunt and Uncle well enough to know there is a letter for her first stanley cup.

Hayden slowly nodded, it’s always what she needs to hear but she misses them even more.

“I just want them here.” Hayden admitted, So many of milestones she will never get to have her parents at.

“Me too.” Jack agreed, it makes him so sad to see Hayden not have her parents at her things, he knows she has his parents but it still is different.

Hayden let out a sad sigh and just rested her head on his shoulder, “I’m gonna need surgery.” Hayden said softly, she found out yesterday.

Jack paused he didn’t know this, “For your ribs?”

“Yeah they aren’t healing correctly. If my elbow gets worse i’ll need surgery for that too.” Hayden told Jack first, “The team found good surgeons in San Diego.” Hayden wouldn’t be able to travel for a little bit after her surgery.

“Then San Diego is where we go when this over.” Jack just easily agreed.

Hayden sighed softly as Jack kissed the top of her head, she felt a lot better, a lot lighter and ready mentally for the last round of playoffs.

June 8, 2024

Hayden buttoned up her suit one handed after Ellen helped her get dressed and she looked in the mirror, she was wearing a gray suit that was her Dad’s and had a pin with a H that was her Mom’s with her Oiler converse.

It was the first game of the stanley cup.

Hayden was hugged by Ellen first and Ellen cupped her face giving her a reassuring look before Jim hugged her next kissing her cheek.

Quinn softly hugged her next leaning up and kissing the side of her head.

Jack and Hayden shared a look and a nod before hugging, Hayden hugging one armed this time.

Luke gave her a sweet smile before hugging her gently.

Hayden smiled softly at her family before she left the hotel room and slowly headed down to the bus.

Hayden slowly sat down on the bus looking out the window, it was a bit disappointing to be so injured in the playoffs but she wasn’t sitting out.

Hayden did a very small warm up all with the trainers as she is having hard time doing anything with her broken ribs.

Hayden got her ribs tapped and her extra padding there, her elbow was tapped and wrapped in a tight sleeve before her elbow pad went over.

Hayden walked on to the ice for her first ever playoff game. Hayden closed her eyes at the national anthem and waited for the game to officially start.

The game didn’t go how they wanted. The Panthers scored a goal in each period and the Oilers did not score once.

Panthers won game one.

June 14, 2024

Ellen found Hayden sitting outside looking out at her backyard with a cup of coffee.

Ellen knew Hayden was having a hard time and just dejected with the Oilers losing all three games.

“Alright say it.” Ellen said knowingly as she sat down next to her daughter.

“We’re down three.” Hayden said dejected.

“You are.” Ellen nodded.

“No one comes back from that, only two teams have and it was over seventy years ago.” Hayden scoffed talking bluntly.

“So? It only happened twice.” Ellen raised her eyebrow at Hayden, “That’s doesn’t mean you can’t do it.”

Hayden just shook her head making Ellen grab her good hand and make Hayden look at her.

“Who was the first woman drafted?” Ellen asked Hayden.

Hayden fondly rolled her eyes, “Me.”

“And that didn’t stop you from going out there and keep playing till you were drafted.” Ellen softly reminded her.

Ellen cupped her face, “You can do it but you won’t if you already think that you lost.”

Hayden let out a deep breath and softly nodded.

June 15, 2024

Hayden took a deep breath as she waited for the puck to drop in game four and remembered Ellen’s words.

Hayden ignored any pain she was feeling and within three minutes stole the puck and got a clear breakaway and tipped the puck right into the net.

Hayden cheered loudly as she gently crashed into her teammates.

Four minutes later Connor was heading right to the net and dropped the puck back for Hayden and she flicked it into the net.

Panthers scored one goal.

Leon had the puck a few minutes later and passed right across the goal and Hayden smacked the puck in and getting her hat trick in ten minutes.

Hayden cheered so loud as the ice started raining with hats and her name was being cheered, Hayden beamed and she knew it would be a moment she would remember forever.

Second period Hayden assisted on Connor’s goal and Nurse’s goal too.

Oilers were leading 6-1 heading into the third period.

Hayden was out on the ice and Ryan got a breakaway, she skated right next to him and he passed right at the lays second and she scored the goal.

Ryan and Hayden shared a beaming smile as they gently crashed into each other, Hayden was ignoring her small wheezes because of her ribs.

Hayden was circling the top of the net and saw Ryan opened and passed across to him and Ryan hit a slap shot getting a goal. Ryan pointed at his best friend making her laugh as they hugged.

Oilers won game four 8-1 and were heading to a game five.

June 21, 2024

Oilers won game five and were now back in Edmonton for game six.

Hayden just realized how many points she had in this post season and she was really close to her Dad’s best record in the post season.

Hayden didn’t glance up at the suites when she stepped onto the ice like she normally does trying to stay more focused. She knew a lot of her friends were at game and some were at game four but everyone understood she doesn’t really have any time for socializing right now.

Oilers has the only three goals in the two periods.

Panthers scored one in the beginning of the third.

Hayden got the puck off a rebound and passed out to Ryan, who quickly scored.

Hayden was out with Leon and Connor on a line and Leon passed to Connor and Connor passed the puck to Hayden.

Hayden hit the puck right into the top corner and she immediately knew she just tired the record with her Dad and did her Dad’s celly as she smiled emotionally and looked up the rafters.

Hayden has 45 points, tied with Harrison and second for most points in a post season.

Oilers won game six 5-1 and were heading back to Florida for game seven.

June 24, 2024

Hayden starred at the floor in the locker room before they headed out onto the ice for game seven.

Hayden closed her eyes and sighed before she stood up and walked down the tunnel with Ryan, one last time.

Hayden sat on the bench as the puck was dropped and she waited for her shift.

Panthers scored first. Oiler’s scored right after tying the game back up.

Second period only Florida scored.

Hayden has the puck halfway through the third period when she suddenly felt someone grabbed her bad arm and she jerked away making her ribs protest but it happened to fast and another panthers player purposely crashed into her elbow making her groan out in pain just as the player let go of her arm just as her teammates got over and shoved the players away as she dropped to the knees holding her elbow squeezing her eyes shut.

Hayden groaned as Ryan reached her first and kneeled down next to her as the rest of the players on the ice were fighting each other.

Hayden looked at Ryan with tearfully and his heart dropped, he hated that she has gotten so many injuries the last few weeks and has been in so much constant pain.

Hayden waved the trainers off knowing she mostly likely just worsened her elbow sprain and she can worry about it after the game.

Hayden got up slowly her ribs screaming at her as she got up and she skated to the bench sitting down.

Hayden was playing the best she could but could barely move her left arm.

The Oilers couldn’t get another goal. The Panthers won the 2024 Stanley Cup.

Hayden felt her heart drop as the celebration screams began and she watched the other team start to celebrate.

Hayden closed her eyes swallowing painfully realizing she didn’t win, she didn’t bring back a cup to Edmonton for her parents.

Hayden’s chest was heavy as she starred at the ice with silent tears slowly coming down her cheeks. If she thought any loss in her career hurt, it was nothing compared to this right now, this was crushing.

Hayden felt someone brush her good and she looked over seeing a tearful Ryan standing there and she leaned into his side, Ryan wrapped his arm around her leaning his head against her head.

Hayden got off the ice tje second she could not even caring that they called her name for the Conn Smythe Trophy, she didn’t want it.

Hayden was checked out and as she expected her elbow was worse and she would need surgery on that too, good thing they scheduled the surgery tomorrow just in case.

Hayden threw her gloves into her stall as she walked in, she was furious, sad and heartbroken.

Hayden sat down in the stall and glanced over seeing Connor crying and she rested her knee on his knee, she couldn’t do much more right now.

Hayden starred at the floor for what seemed like hours, not realizing the way tears just continued to fall down her face.

Hayden slowly got up and got out of uniform and changed back into her suit and sluggishly walked straight of the locker room, she ignored everyone walking right to her family.

Hayden had a devastating look and her eyes were all red, her family didn’t need to say anything and she just leaned into Jack’s side as they walked out.

They are heading right out to San Diego for her surgery.

Hello, this is a remake of a post i made last season and i'm making it because 1. love kevin 2. can't stop thinking of how shit my old post was lol, so a remake is need (you won't find the og post because i deleted it)

1. let's start with some base things. he was drafted 7th overall in the 2022 draft to chicago

2. he's a defenceman

3. his rookie season was last year. he struggled a bit and is going to play in the AHL this year for the rockford icehogs

4. he got 5 goals and 10 assist

5. his dynamic with connor bedard is so sweet. They were both rookies for the chicago blackhawks last year but before that they played on team canada (wjc) 2023 together.

6. In warms ups connor would glide in bump into kevin, kevin would bump/push him back and connor would spin (x) (x.2) (x.3)

7. they also got their first fine together 🤗 (they went no bucket for their rookie lap and got fined)

8. since kevin and connor's whl teams never played each other they bicker about which team would have hypothetically beaten the other in a match up

9. kevin and connor combined to defeat the leafs in OT last season and it was beautiful

I was playing World Tour and for some reason I never really put too much thought into my Avatar's voice, and who the ENG VA was.

And it got me thinking about the other Avatar's voices that made an appearance, and who they were. Surprisingly, I have heard the Eng VAs in different medias before.

wedding events

July 24, 2024

Hayden stepped onto the dock as she got off the boat with Ryan right behind her grabbing their bags.

They had headed to Ontario together and took the boat to the island that Connor and Lauren’s wedding is on.

Hayden was part of the wedding party and Ryan was invited for everything so they would be staying at the main house. Her family and Matt would be getting in later than her as they don’t have to be at all the events.

Ryan carried Hayden’s bags for her as they headed up the stairs to the house.

Hayden was fully cleared on her ribs and they healed up extremely well and she just got her sling off completely yesterday and would be wearing a brace for a bit for her elbow.

Lauren and Celeste both rushed out of the house hearing the boat and both squealed seeing Hayden.

They both rushed over and stopped in front of her, “Can we hug you?” Lauren looked worried.

“Ribs are healed!” Hayden beamed making both girls beam and quickly hug her back.

“I’m sorry i couldn’t come.” Hayden apologized again to Lauren for not coming to her bridal shower.

“Hayden darling you couldn’t come and i totally understand.” Lauren gave her one more squeezed and pulled back giving her a look as Hayden was literally recovering from two surgeries.

Lauren and Celeste both said hi to Ryan before turning to Hayden.

“Now we have very important things to talk about! Like Miss Hayden have a boyfriend!” Celeste beamed giggling excitedly.

“We do not need to talk about that.” Leon deadpanned but was grinning as he saw Hayden as Connor and him walked outside to them, “But we will give him a talk.”

Hayden sighed happily seeing them, “Hey Cap, Leo.”

“Rook.” Connor smiled gently back and walked right to her gently pulling her into a hug and sighed in relief finally being able to actually see that she is okay.

Hayden sighed back hugging him and closing her eyes as she hide her face on his shoulder.

“Move i want to hug our rookie too.” Leon grumbled making Connor smile but move out of the way, “Hi Mäuschen.” Leon breathed out hugging her gentler than usally.

Connor was giving Ryan a longer hug than usally after the trade.

“Leo.” Hayden mumbled back sighing in relief as she could actually hug them back a bit now with a brace.

“Hurry up we have gossip to catch up on.” Celeste teased her Leon.

“I want to see the ring!” Hayden grinned and gently took Celeste hand, “Oh it’s even prettier in person or they could just be because it on Cel.”

Celeste beamed at her words.

“You’ve seen in person already.” Leon deadpanned with a fond look.

Celeste looked shocked, “She has?”

“Connor and her aren’t bad helpers.” Leon grinned at the two.

“I know my jewelry.” Hayden shrugged a bit as it was simple to help Leon pick out a ring.

Celeste’s eyes softened having not knowing that and squeezed Hayden’s hand.

“Now Matt?” Lauren grinned clapping her hands, “I’ve been waiting for years!”

Hayden blushed a bit making them all shocked, “I took some time to realize.”

“That’s okay.” Lauren reassured her quickly, “Love can take time.”

“I wanna know all about the first date!” Celeste beamed gently looping an arm with Hayden’s good arm and Lauren grabbed Hayden’s other hand.

“We won’t be seeing them for a bit.” Connor said amused.

Hayden, Lauren and Celeste all got comfortable on one of the couches outside looking out on the water and began catching up.

“Oh i have to show you something Hayden!” Lauren got excited after over an hour of them sitting outside.

Hayden got up and followed Lauren inside with Celeste.

Lauren brought her up tor the large room they would all be getting ready in for the wedding weekend.

“I made a change for your dress for the wedding.” Lauren explained, “I thought you might be more comfortable.” All of her bridesmaids were wearing white with different style of dresses.

Lauren unzipped the dust bag and Hayden saw her off the shoulder white dress but it now had lace flowy sleeves but not a see through lace.

Lauren got sleeves for Hayden’s elbow and had gotten a sling and got it covered in white lace increase Hayden was still wearing a sling so Hayden wouldn’t feel bad about being injured.

“My brace will be hidden.” Hayden realized with an excited smile, “Thank you.”

“Of course.” Lauren smiled gently back, “And i got some other ribbons to match your other dresses if you would like to cover your brace but i don’t care if you don’t.” Lauren reassured.

“I think i’ll want to cover it.” Right now her injuries, the brace on her elbow was just remind her of a wound that’s still healing.

“Whatever you want.” Lauren kissed her cheek softly as Hayden happily leaned into Lauren’s side.

Hayden’s head perked up hearing the sound of a dog, “Lenny!” Hayden beamed and gently bent down as Connor let Lenny into the room, “Hi bud!” Hayden cooed.

Lauren, Celeste and Connor all smiled.

July 25, 2024

Hayden stepped onto the steamboat for the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner was mostly close family and close friends which included basically the entire team and plus ones for the wedding party, it was the smallest event of the weekend and the theme was “old money” to match the steamboat.

Hayden had on an all black dress with thin straps and was tight on her chest and flowy the rest of the dress with a pair of black converse and black lace around her brace. She let Lauren pick her hair so she had her hair blown out and a little bit makeup.

Besides Lauren and Connor the wedding party was the last on the boat. Hayden knew Matt was here as he had gotten in this afternoon. She hasn’t seen him a few weeks.

Once the cheers settled for Lauren and Connor she started looking sound for Matt and she started smiling seeing him talking to Ryan, Ryan Hopkins and Bri. Matt was wearing a new suit.

Hayden crossed the room quickly right to Matt, “Matt.” She breathed out and Matt immediately spun around getting his breath knocked out of him seeing how stunning she looks.

“Lee.” Matt breathed out stepping closer to her and letting her decide what she is comfortable in public, “You got your sling off!” Matt beamed looking so happy for her.

“Surprise.” Hayden’s smile softened and she stepped closer and finally she could hug her boyfriend with two arms, she rested her chin on his shoulder sighing so happily as he hugged her back being careful of her hair as he cupped the back of her head.

“I missed you.” Hayden whispered softly to him not caring she was hugging him in front of a room of people. She never thought she wouldn’t care about this sort of thing or even comfortable.

Matt’s smile softened and he kissed the side of her head, “Missed you too.”

“She gets a boyfriend and she doesn’t say hi to us anymore.” Ryan Hopkins pouted making his wife shake her head.

Hayden pulled back staying close to Matt as his hand slide down to her lower back, “I want Len photos.” She teased making the Hopkins laugh.

Hayden got to see almost all of her team unfortunately most of them were having kid free weekends meaning she couldn’t see her favorite kids.

Matt sat next to Hayden for dinner making Hayden laugh most of the dinner gaining even more approval from her team.

Leon and Connor still did steal Matt for a few minutes giving him a talk but truthfully they trust Matt with Hayden having already seen how Matt treats her.

July 26, 2024

Hayden walked across the tennis court that was apart of the welcome party. She had on a pastel yellow dress with yellow feathers matching the bridesmaids dresses expect she was the only one with yellow. Lauren had picked the colors for each of the girls.

She had on pastel yellow converse heels, yellow lace around her brace and her hair was curled softly and pinned behind her ears and she had a pair of dangly pearl earrings on.

She grinned seeing her family arriving, they had all gotten in early this morning and was staying on one of the one of the houses on the island.

“Hayden you look so beautiful.” Ellen gasped softly and is reminded every single time Hayden dressed up how much she looks like Maddison.

Hayden smiled and then laughed as Luke softly and carefully tackled her into a hug.

Jack quickly hugged her too not caring if Luke was still hugging her.

Quinn fondly rolled his eyes and waited patiently till he could hug his sister.

Hayden hugged Ellen and Jim last.

Hayden walked with them to one of the appetizer tables knowing Luke will want that.

She leaned in as she felt an arm wrap around her waist and knew who it was.

Jack was immediately giving her a teasing look making her shake her head grinning.

Hayden leaned her head on Matt’s shoulder smiling at how easily Matt joins conversation with her family.

The welcome party was pretty simply but very pretty with pastel colors and summer vibe. The party ended with the sun still up wanting everyone to get good rest before the wedding.

The party did end with a lot of the Oilers doing speeches which were all hilarious and a few friends as well. Hayden was laughing so hard she had to step away because her ribs hurt.

She kissed Matt saying bye as she won’t see him till after the wedding ceremony tomorrow.

OPINION ON LAUREN X CARA AND ZACH X CONNOR💝🤞

Lauren and Cara in the book. no. well maybe agggtm, but then we all know what Ant and Lauren did to Pip in GGBB, and Cara obviously would value her friendship with Pip more if they basically grew up together. Basically Cara and Pip >> Cara and Lauren

However in the show it may be different as I don't think (as of right now) that they have casted Ant so maybe they have changed that part of the storyline a bit for the show.

Zach and Connor though, fun, I like them. I really hope they show quite a bit of the friendship group during the show and their dynamics etc, especially because they seemed very close filming.

A/N: I already have this in the actual book but “Evie” in this is not pronounced Eve-ee, it’s Ev-ee. Just a heads up cause I fucking hate the name Evie (Eve-ee) now. And this is kinda long for a first time write… well, my first post but wtv

Evelyn tried to stay close to her family, she really did, but the crowd was so dense, so pushy, it was hard to hold on to them. The Hastings were on yet another trip this summer break, another trip that could join the yearly Dubai trips and California trips that Evelyn bragged about to Pip, Cara, Connor, Zach, and Lauren. It wasn’t as far as her usual trips, but she was still happy to get out somewhere other than Fairview, that haunting town. The cracking of heads against desks, the crunching of leaves under a killers feet. But being out of town also meant being away from Priscilla, her favorite cat next to Monty.

Her parents, Max, and James slipped into the crowd in front of her, leaving her stranded in the park. Evelyn’s instincts kicked, trying to work her way through the crowd and to the front where she could message her parents or Max to explain where she was. Just as she could see the opening in the sea of people, a hand grabbed her wrist, pulling her back.

When she stopped stumbling, she got a look at the back of her taker. His hair was short, slightly curly, dark. The boy seemed to be her age, his body skinny with that little muscle that comes with athletes.

Evelyn tried ripping her hand out of his grasp, but it only sent the two of them backwards. He whipped around, his eyes meeting hers. They were a deep green, gold flakes throughout the color.

“Who are you?” she shouted above the noise, her voice barely reaching a hearable level.

An enticing smirk spread across his face, drawing Evelyn in. “Maybe you’ll find out.”

His grip tightened, continuing to pull her through the crowd. She didn’t know where he was going, or why he was running, but he seemed to be fleeing something. Maybe someone. The long line of the swings came into view, but this mystery boy pushed past the line, a few curses and strike thrown at him.

“What the hell, dude!” one guy yelled.

When they ran into a mother and her children, her toddler started crying. “Young man! You can’t just cut in line like that! Where are your parents?”

That was a good question, where are his parents?

“Gambling probably,” he called over his shoulder, the woman’s face falling.

Now the question was how did he get here? Older sibling maybe? Just dropped off? Who knew?

Continuing to weave through the line, the two made their way to the front of the line as the mystery boy pulled some card out of his pocket, flashing it to the ride operator. His eyes widened, glancing over him as if not believing whatever was written on there. Barely catching the ride, the attendant reluctantly let them on. Luckily, there were two seats from next to each other, perfect for the two. They both climbed on, the ride starting just as they got their belts on.

Evelyn let the wind whip her hair as the chairs swung around, feeling free, that flying feeling like nothing else was there. It was nice to finally get that feeling again, she hadn’t gotten it since she climbed that tree, the tallest one she had climbed. But that was before the crunching leaves, the light conversation, Yale, how it looked— No, no. Not right now. The trees that swung in her backyard, the ones where she and Max had made a makeshift zip line without their parents permission.

The ride came down, bringing Evelyn’s high down with it. The boy waited as Evelyn got off, but her buzzing phone interrupted their escape. She pulled it out, Max’s contact scrolling across the screen.

“Don’t answer it!” the boy demanded, both urgency and adrenaline creeping into his voice.

Evelyn looked up at him, examining him closer. He didn’t look familiar, but the ride operator’s reaction before to the card meant that their was something special about the card, something special about him. Those green eyes stayed glued on her, waiting for her to shove her phone back in her pocket.

A barrage of footsteps came from the line, the people parting to let dark-clothed men through.

“Shit,” he hissed, grabbing Evelyn and running before she could put her phone back.

“There he is!” a gravelly voice shouted, the footsteps becoming more precise, trailing them.

Why are they being chased? Who is chasing them? Who the fuck is this kid?

They moved over by the carousel, pushing through the line again, but, this time, stopping and hiding in part of it. When the group of men stormed by, they climbed back through the sea, over the fences separating the sections of the line, and sprinted to another part of the park. The plan to throw off—what Evelyn was assuming to be—bodyguards had succeeded. But Evelyn’s mind wandered back to the men chasing them, then to the two people that she had just registered as sticking out from the group: A light blonde in too fancy of clothes for an amusement park, and a cowboy. Or, something like it.

Her mind continued to wander until they approached the ferris wheel, the tall structure towering over them. This longer ride would allow them some extra time, maybe even some time to relax. Another line cut and they were on the ride, sitting silently across from each other. It was a circular shaped compartment, could fit about four to five people.

Sometimes, they would look up at the same time, their eyes meeting briefly.

As they reached the peak of the ferris wheel, Evelyn finally decided to pop the question. “Who are you? Or, at least, what’s your name?”

The boy’s eyes came up, amused by her question. “Do you want this simply or-“

“Just say it,” she groaned.

He rolled his eyes. “Fine. My name’s Jameson. That’s it.”

They sat, for a second, silence overcoming them again.

“Aren’t you going to ask me my name?” Evelyn suggested.

“There’s no point if I already know it, Evelyn Anastasia Hastings.” He shrugged, passing that off as some normal thing to say. Taken aback, Evelyn’s brows furrowed, her eyes narrowing on him. “Don’t look surprised,” he added, “not like you’re exactly not known.”

Andie and Sal. That’s what things always came down to with Evelyn. She was known for them, for being Sal’s friend, for being Andie’s friend, for having Sal at her house the night that Andie died.

But this kid seemed important, why would he know Evelyn?

“How do you know me? Like, what from?” Evelyn waited. “Oh, and what does that card say?”

His mouth twitched and then his face fell flat. “You don’t want to know where I know you from. I would say you wouldn’t like it.”

Evelyn heart fell flat, just like Jameson’s face.

“This card-“ he flicked it out of his pocket “-is just a fast pass thingy.” That last part sounded too casual for the rest. Was he playing with her? Had he been the entire time? Is his name even Jameson or did she just trust him blindly? Why did I follow this kid?

His face grew an expression again, reading her’s too well for her comfort. Her thought from before her confirmed by that mischievous look, one that told her he knew he had tricked her. She felt so small now, under his gaze. A laugh came from his throat, the sound more sinister to her than the boyish one the average ear would hear.

“Did you think I was serious?” he laughed, sending a stab into Evelyn’s chest. God, was she stupid. Trusting a teenage boy to drag her around an amusement park, especially when that boy seemed to be being chased by security or some shit. It was so stupid how blind she could be.

Swallowing back that sudden lump in her throat, that one that always appeared when she felt stupid, just a complete idiot, she spoke up, “How do you really know me then?”

He seemed to consider the question, sitting back and looking her up and down. “Look, I know you from TV. That’s practically it.”

“What’s the rest?”

“Hm?”

“Practically the rest,” she repeated, sending his words back at him.

He shrugged again, like it wasn’t weird he knew her from somewhere else other than the news. “Just other places, you know?”

“No, I don’t know.”

They were silent again, a tension between them. As the ride lowered again, she looked over the edge, spotting the men from before awkwardly standing in line behind a group of teenagers.

The question came back. “So who are you again? ‘Cause I can tell you’re not ‘just Jameson’.”

“We’re just kind of… unimportant.” Evelyn lifted a brow at him which earned a laugh. “You look like my brother. Freaky.”

“If you’re so unimportant, what’s with all those guys chasing you?” she asked.

Jameson crossed the compartment, leaning over next to her. “Well,” he pointed at the ground, “two of them are my brothers— both older than me. The dorky one in the fancy clothes is 364 days older than me. The other dork in the cowboy hat is seven years older than me.”

“Oh, really? My brother’s six years…” she trailed off, knowing he probably had her whole family engraved in his mind for this strange trick he was playing on her. “Why are your brothers chasing you?”

“Because I ran, I guess.” That didn’t seem like a full answer, especially with all his other answers.

Her eyes narrowed on him, but he seemed to be telling the truth. “Why’d you run?”

That question seems to excite him, or maybe confuse him. “For the thrill… Do you get what I’m saying?”

“Sure,” she said with a nod. She had known the adrenaline of running; she had just now. That high feeling on the swings, that same feeling up here so far in the air. The trees she’d climb swaying with her, the unstable branches being the most fun to be on. “I climb trees, other things too. My parents think I’ll fall to my death some day but I’ve got decent balance and will probably die some other way.”

His smile was soft now, understanding. “Yeah, trees are nice. We’ve got a treehouse back home. Pretty fun. There’s a zip line out of it!”

“I’ve always wanted a treehouse!”

Evelyn watched as the bodyguards/security people directed their gaze toward Evelyn and Jameson, pointing and shouting at them. Their words were unintelligible but she knew damn well they were trying to get them.

“What’s the highest tree you’ve fallen from?” Jameson spoke, looking as if he was adrenaline himself. He looked jittery, but not in a nervous way.

“Like 15-20 feet, or, at least that’s where I fell from.”

Jameson looked over to Evelyn, giving her a face that she couldn’t quite read. “So you can take a 15 foot fall?”

“I guess?”

Jameson took her hand, crossing the compartment that seemed like an enclosure now, now facing away from the line.

“When we get to 15-20 feet I’m going to climb over and jump from here, and when I let go, you follow, okay?” His voice was urgent, confusing her on whether he was actually scared or just on that high.

Evelyn nodded frantically, watching as Jameson calculated the distance from the ground. When it was to his liking, he climbed over the railing, leaving just his hands on the rail. Evelyn leaned over, looking at how far they really were. Her heart twisted, her stomach following in his spinning hurricane, even a subtle breeze nearly knocking her over.

Slowly, Jameson slipped off.

One finger off.

Two fingers off.

Four fingers off.

One hand gone.

Two hands gone.

Jameson’s falling body still seemed so controlled, weirdly controlled. Had this been some circus act she was dragged in to? Her heart continued the drop as Jameson did. If she couldn’t watch someone else do this, how would she do it herself?

He landed gracefully on the ground, not a single muscle tensing in pain, not a single flinch. Looking up to her, he squinted, shouting up to her.

“Come on, Evelyn!” He said, impatience crawling into his voice.

Reluctantly, she followed what he had done before, climbing over, one leg at a time, leaving just her shaky hands holding her.

Her fall wasn’t voluntary. And she didn’t expect the way she would fall. The sweat on her clammy hands pulled her further to the ground, eventually letting her go. Time seemed to slow as she fell, the shock of the suddenness taking over her as she froze. But she needed to do this quicker, react quicker. She didn’t want another dead Hastings so soon after the last, did she? In front of all these people?

Her feet hit the ground, her knees giving out under her. Coming up from hitting something on the ground, all she saw was Jameson’s hand reaching out before she could react. Her legs protested as they ran through the amusement park again, the people parting as they charged through.

“Where are we going?” Evelyn groaned, her legs dragging them behind.

“Just trust me,” Jameson said, not even looking back at her, “I know where we’re going.”

The crowd became scattered, moving closer to the entrance of the park. Their pace slowed, completely exiting the park and crossing the street, into some building around them.

“So, we’re just leaving?”

“Basically, yeah,” he said. “They probably think we’re still in the park. That will give us a lot of time.”

Sitting down under some random tree, Evelyn finally got a chance to get a good look at him. His eyes were still filled with that adrenaline, looking around the park anxiously. She, too, was anxious, she couldn’t blame him. The gold flecks shined brighter in this lighting, the sun hitting him perfectly. His dark, curly-ish hair was tousled from their race with whoever those people were, and his clothes reflected nothing of his supposed brothers.

But what stuck out was, why would both security and his brothers be chasing him if it was “just for the thrill”? There was no need for him to bring someone else in. No need to jump off a ferris wheel. Then what was that deeper reason? Why me?

Jameson’s less shaky hands pulled out his phone, beginning to aimlessly scroll. Evelyn thought it would be best to copy that, try to seem casual, not internally freaking out because the last her parents saw of her was getting dragged away and chased by security.

When she looked at her phone screen, she was at least ten missed calls from each of her parents, three from Max, and an abundance of texts asking where she was.

Today 12:13 PM

Max: where are you?

Max: and who is that kid?

Max: he seems pretty weird to me.

Max: kinda looked like a baby…

Today 1:03 PM

Max: Hello???

Max: mom and dad are really mad now…

Max: Evelyn???

Max: Evie??

Max: my little baby sister Evie McEvsters??

Max: Evelyn.

Max: Evelyn Hastings???

Max: Evelyn.

Max: Anastasia.

Max: Hastings.

Max: Where the fuck are you and what the actual fuck is going on???????

She set her phone back down, looking up at Jameson. Their eyes met, and she knew it was time to ask, yet again.

“If you don’t answer this truthfully I’m going to rat you out,” she spat, completely over her whole “nice stuff”. “Why are you being chased? Who are you? Why did you choose me? Did you choose me in purpose?” She rambled off the questions like her life depended on it, not giving him a chance to get the answers Evelyn so desperately seemed to need.

“Woah.” Jameson blinked slowly, holding his hands up at her, his next words coming out in a chuckled. “One question at a time.”

She took a deep breath, preparing herself, trying to keep herself sane. “Who are you?”

“James-“

“No.”

He sighed. “Okay, if you let me finish this time, I can tell you.”

She nodded.

“So, hello, my name is Jameson.” Evelyn sucked in a breath. “I’m, what, thirteen, twelve, whatever, and I’m from Texas. Me and my family—me, my four brothers, my grandfather, and our family friend— came here for a vacation. That’s basically it. I’m a kid from Texas with his family.”

“Then, why were you getting chased?” Why did he have to be so god damn unclear?

“Because I usually get in trouble everywhere I go. And I did again.”

“Am I the trouble you’re getting into?”

A smile broke on his face. “No, no. I stole something. My brothers weren’t happy, I ran, security followed.”

Her titled her head at him. “Why did you drag me into this then? I don’t know you, you clearly know me.”

He shrugged yet again. “I wanted to meet someone famous.”

Her eyes widened at that. Her? Famous? Yeah, people knew her, but really only within Fairview. She blushed slightly at that term. The idea of her being “famous”.

“I wouldn’t say I’m ‘famous’,” she said shyly.

“You are to me,” he chuckled. “And you’re kinda cute.”

Any emotion on her face dropped. “Are you one of those people who flirts with every person who will talk to them?”

He laughed louder this time, waving her off with a lazy hand. “No, no, I’m not.”

But that wasn’t believable enough for her. Before she could make a rebuttal, her phone buzzed, Max’s contact scrolling across her phone screen again. This time, she decided to answer.

“Evelyn! Oh my God, you finally answered,” Max gasped from the other end of the phone. She could hear a small whimper in the background a familiar one. It was James.

“Is James okay?” she asked, completely ignoring if Max had asked her something.

“I was about to tell you about that,” Max gritted through his teeth, a very sudden change in tone. He had always done that, been mad one second and happy and smiley the next. And, again, that tone changed. “James, Evie just called me. Do-“

“Evie?” James gasped, cutting Max off.

“Yeah, it’s Evie.” Evelyn could hear the smile in his voice, trying to cheer James up. She could hear the change of audio as she went onto speaker, the room they were in surprisingly quiet.

“Evie,” James’ small, broken voice said. “Where are you?”

Evelyn’s heart twisted, imagining his teary little face. “I’m with my friend, sweetheart.”

“Are, are,” he stuttered, “are my friends there?”

“No, I don’t think so, but my new friend can be your friend! Do you wanna talk to him?”

James sniffled from the other end of the line, rustling from his end indicating he now held the phone. “Hi, Evie’s new friend!” The audio was too loud, his mouth too close to the microphone.

Jameson looked to Evelyn, asking for approval with his eyes. She nodded, putting her phone on speaker too. “Hey, James, how are you?”

“Sad. I miss Evie,” he whined. “When will you bring her back?”

“When Evie wants to come back,” said Jameson, his face mischievous when he said the nickname.

James whined again from the other end of the phone, then huffed. “You better bring her back soon, or I’m gonna have a problem with you!”

Evelyn attempted to cover up a smile, but it was difficult when a three-year-old was threatening a 12-13 year old with “having a problem with him” if he didn’t bring his sister back.

“I’ll bring her back soon,” Jameson surrendered.

“You better do it now.” And with that, the phone hung up.

“Evie!” James ran up to Evelyn’s legs, his arms wrapping around them. “I miss you, I miss you, I miss you!”

She knelt down, picking him up. “I missed you, too, buddy.”

His arms wrapped around her neck, bringing her closer to him, his face buried in her neck.

“I guess, I should probably leave now,” Jameson said, standing awkwardly under Max and her father’s gaze. Was he seriously intimidated by them? Yeah, Evelyn was, but why would Jameson be?

“Yeah,” she said, waving at him.

He turned around, walking to his group of people on the other side of the Help Desk area, but before he got far, he turned back around.

“Hey, Evelyn,” said Jameson. “Can I get your number? You know, so me and James can still be friends?”

James’ head raised at his name, scrunching up into a comically mad face when he realized it was Jameson.

“We are not friends.”

Evelyn couldn’t help the laugh that came out, burying her face in James’ hair. She took out her phone, opening to her phone number and facing it toward Jameson. He took out his phone, typing her phone number into his phone. Evelyn’s eyes traveled over his shoulder, meeting with a boy that looked her age.

He was taller, light blonde hair that blinded her when the sun from the sky lights reflected off of it. He was pale all over, just looked light, icy. He seemed to be watching them, his eyes fixated on her. Wait, she thought, that’s one of his brothers.

Jameson’s face covered her view of the boy, bringing her attention back to him.

“Okay, now I’m saying bye,” he laughed, waving and actually leaving this time.

James’ eyes stayed on him, his arms crossed in front of him. “I don’t like him.”

The day’s events still ran through Evelyn’s mind as she laid on her hotel bed, James cuddled up beside her, her head laying on Max’s shoulder.

After her parents and Max had interrogated information out of her, they declared they’ll have to get a leash for her soon, similar to the one James wore in stores because he was too hyper for his own good.

He still ran through her mind that night, like they had that evening. Maybe he’d see him again, maybe not. And she still had yet to figure out who this kid was. Other than “Just Jameson”.

I was heavily inspired by @creepercraftguy's headcanons on voices for the Danganronpa Another cast so I caved and did my own as well. I have decided to use VAs that weren't in any of the official Danganronpa games and anime while also considering the other roles the voice actors are known for as well as their overall energy.

Puppy Love

Pairings: Mabel x Pip

Summary: Pip loves Mabel and decides to ask to marry her

It had been close to 4 years since Pip met Mabel and Pip was thankful every day for that, and so was Mabel. She was in a bad situation after all but luckily Pip had saved her. They had become friends when Pip went to Massachusetts on a holiday with her step-dad, mom and Josh. She had gone out on a run, needing to be away from her family. That was when she ran into a shorter person, a person with a black eye and clearly emotional. “You ok?” Pip asked almost immediately, concerned about the older woman. “Of course I am,” Mabel snapped. 

“I know you aren’t. I’m Pip, also known as Pippa Fitz-Amobi,” Pip spoke with that smile that said she wasn’t budging. Mabel tried to get away but Pip kept following her until they reached a breakfast place where Mabel reluctantly walked in, knowing that the girl would follow. She had heard of her, having solved a ‘solved’ case where it wasn’t actually. She looked up to her for that but not now. 

She needed to deal with this in peace. 

Just as she was about to walk into the place itself (it having double doors), she looked at Pip. “I have heard of you. Go out now, it isn’t safe right now,” she spoke. Pip raised an eyebrow and shook her head. Mabel groaned. “At least stand out then I will answer any question you have. There?” Mabel offered. Pip grinned and then nodded as she walked out, going on her phone as she was waiting. That was how they met, how Pip managed to help the boat crew and make it legal. She also made sure to help Mabel, knowing of her home life. Pip was sad when they had to go but she promised to always text her and she had. After 2 years they got together, Pip being 20 at that point and Mabel being 23. 

Best of all, Mabel was able to move to the UK and Mabel had already found a job.

Pip was now 22 and Mabel was 25 and they lived together. Pip had finished her degree and became a journalist. She was happy with life, with all her friends being successful. Ravi was still one of her best friends too even if she had friendzoned him. Ravi accepted it though, soon finding another crush. Pip was currently with Ravi as they were planning something. “There is a festival soon for Bonfire night. Why don’t you propose there?” he offered. Pip was thinking then nodded. “Sounds like a good idea. She does love Bonfire Night,” she stated.

 

The plan was now on a go.

After a week, it was time. Pip and Mabel were at home as they were getting ready. Mabel was wearing some nice jean shorts and one of Pips’s oversized tops as well as hoodies. Pip meanwhile was wearing some cargo pants and her ‘Talk Nerdy To Me’ shirt with a blue flannel. Spraying some perfume on, she glanced over at Mabel and couldn’t help but admire her. “What?” Mabel asked with a laugh, used to Pip staring and admiring her.

“Nothing, you just look beautiful baby,” Pip answered truthfully, sidling next to Mabel who was grabbing her things, mainly her phone and battery pack. Pip also grabbed her stuff as she kissed Mabel’s cheek, her spare arm going around her girlfriend’s waist and pulled her in closer. “You’re clingier than usual,” Mabel spoke suspiciously, looking at her. Pip shrugged.

“It’s just your favourite night so I want to be close to you,” she explained, not wanting the Latina to catch on. Mabel sighed but she smiled and nodded. She appreciated Pip so much. She was the best thing in her life.

After 20 minutes they arrived at the venue and Pip was excited, seeing her family minus Josh. She waved at them, the same as Mabel as they walked over together. “Hey mom, dad. Where’s Josh?” Pip asked, slight worry waving over her. It was probably from the trauma of the Andie Bell case, the Max Hasting case, the Stanley Forbes incident and the Duct Tape Killer case. Not that anyone but Mabel, Ravi, Naomi, Cara, Zach, Connor, Jamie, Nat and Becca knew about it. Potentially Detective Hawkins too.

“He’s with his friends over in the park. Hi Mabel by the way, how are you both?” Pip’s mom asked.

“We’re doing good,” Mabel responded for them both. “Excited for Bonfire night,” she added, staring at Pip with those adoring, loving eyes. Pip stared back just with the same amount of passion and love as she was grinning. 

“I’m glad you found someone chicken,”  Victor spoke. Pip blushed a bright red. 

“Thanks, Dad,” she responded, leaning into Mabel before she spotted her friends. “I’m gonna go see my friends now, I’ll see you later Mom, sad,” Pip spoke. Victor nodded as well as her mom, happy to see her daughter happy. She did have a few rough years from age 16 to 20 after all.

Mabel continued to chat with her parents, Pip going over to her friends. “Are you nervous?” Cara asked with a smirk, her arms wrapped around Naomi as they were still clinging to each other after all the events that had happened.

“Yes, but I know Mabel will say yes. Jamie, you got your guitar?” she asked. Jamie nodded.

“And the tune is Chasing Cars,” he spoke. Pip nodded. Mabel loved the song Chasing Cars so she decided that would be the song that would play before she proposed. 

“I think the show will start in 15 minutes so we better get prepared soon. Front or back of the crowd?” Nat asked, looking down at Pip with a small smile. 

“I think back because it’ll be less busy,” Pip explained. Everyone nodded, walking to the back as Mabel, Victor and Pip’s mom came over as well as Josh with a few of his friends. She was immediately tackled into a hug.

Josh had gotten into rugby so he was much stronger and he even nearly knocked Pip down. “Woah buddy, you’re stronger huh?” she teased and ruffled his hair.

“I missed you, I miss you being at home,” he whined. 

“I still visit 2 times a week,” she laughed.

“Still,” he whined. Pip glanced over at Mabel who was watching with a fond smile. Eventually, Josh pulled away, and Pip saw she had 9 minutes to do the plan. She discreetly nodded to Jamie as he started to play immediately. Mabel glanced over as she was confused, not knowing what was going on. That was when Pip spoke.

“Mabel, I have known you for multiple years now. Yes, I know we started dating a few years ago but you are the light of my life, my rock. You make me believe in myself, in my dreams. You make the world light up around me, make me wish you were by my side all the time. You have shaped my entire life and made me feel better even after everything we went through. Yes, we may quarrel sometimes but we are like Yin and Yang. Will you marry me?” Pip asked, going on one knee as she got the ring out of her pocket and opened it. Mabel, with tears in her eyes, nodded before she tackled Pip into a hug. The box was closed just as quickly, making sure the ring couldn’t get lost. Mabel kissed Pip gently, tears streaming down her face as the 2 girls held each other.

“I take that as a yes?” Pip asked, noticing Jamie looped the song, her friends cheering.

“Of course,” Mabel responded. Pip grinned as she stabilised herself and put the ring on her now-fiancé’s finger and kissed her again.

 

She felt like a lucky girl, knowing she’d be with Mabel forever.
