There’s a slew of content around a drug lord who runs arms business and is also a mafia boss who wants to rule the city and how he literally controls everything in his kingdom. That is Mirzapur in a line when you add a lot of profanity and bloodshed to the narration. You can't watch it with family coz of its language. It will make your ears cry.  Pankaj Tripathi is a born talent and he knows acting like the back of his hand. His spine-chilling acting sends shivers not just to his foes, but to the audience as well. I have no idea how he managed to carry that frightening face throughout the show. Without him, there's no Mirzapur. Quite literally.  The electrifying music whips up the screenplay, and for some reason, we are induced to cheer for the character albeit their vile intentions and vindictive nature and we're excited to see some more brutal killings and bloodshed. That's what Mirzapur does to you. It'll rope you in to its madness and forces you to be a part of the mayhem.  Season 1 has got an excellent pace and it'll absorb you to its enchanting narration. Season 2 however feels disengaging at places and might be predictable for few. When a bunch of extremely talented cast assemble, the resulting product would never fail. Thanks to Jessica Chastian, Viola Davis, Octavia spencer and Emma stone, this film gets a whole 100 marks for its performance. We’ve seen a number of white savior movies and The help wouldn’t’ be any different. But as long as you don’t critic a film for its tone, this is a highly entertaining and affecting biopic. The film never slows down in its pace. The 140 minutes runtime handles the most challenging and inflammatory subject in the safest way possible. The friendship is enjoyable and so is the screenplay. It has the power to make you laugh and cry at the same time and there’s something infectious in it. The subject it handles is quite sensitive but when seeing the women subjugated in the past like the way they’ve portrayed here aches our heart. This is a film that at times will make you flinch and squirm, but ultimately, make you applaud the courage of these remarkable women. In nutshell, this is a tribute to African-American maids in the South during 1963 and their courage in telling their stories as a form of grace under pressure. Releasing a movie on OTT has got its own merits. You get to expose a topic that is often considered a taboo, especially in south India, and these films even though might seem heroic or fresh to its regional audience, they tend to do nothing much in reality as it becomes a just another movie which tries to normalize these sensitive issues that will be forgotten over a night. Undoubtedly the first film (Titled “Thangam”) by the super talented Sudha is the clear winner. She’s squeezed the acting prowess of Kalidas and Shantanu and filmed it in an admirable fashion that is too hard to dislike. The performance makes it a wonderful watch. The second best would be Vignesh shivan’s dark comedy drama “Love panna vitranum” Starring kalki koechlin and anjali. With a comedic end, it might the be easiest one to sit thru in this grievous journey. The final two are too hard to watch but that shouldn’t be a reason to disregard the quality of cinema as they talk about some important socio-political issues. But the big question is, what are these films going to do to the society ? Will they actually bring about a change in people’s mind ? Well, the answer lies in what you’re looking for in a movie. If you’re an entertainment seeker and watch movies just to kill time, this might be a disappointment. But if you’re someone who wants to experience something new, this might satisfy you. Overall, this is a forgettable movie by 4 prime directors of kollywood and would be a good watch for your weekend. Even if you haven't watched a single Star Wars movie, Mandalorian will still make sense. And it's upto you to enter Star Wars franchise after watching this 16 episodes extravaganza that runs for 30 to 40 mins each. The visual effects in this show needs a separate review for itself. The use of StageCraft technology has paid off unbelievably well. The VFX was ruthless. Even you randomly play an episode, you’ll absolutely enjoy every second of it. Stopping the praise on the VFX here just to not sound over exaggerated. The screenplay often veers off into a subplot just like every Star wars movie has, but trust me, each of those mini-adventures were engrossing, exhilarating and beautifully arresting. It looks like a side quest in a PS4 game, but oh boy how amazing was it. Music was marvelously riveting. The story was mind-blowing. The second season is a clear winner in terms of some insane stunts, progression in the main plot and astonishingly realistic visuals. In a nutshell, this is an absolute feast for all of you out there. Entertainment guaranteed. Watch it on the biggest TV with the highest possible quality. Movies that deal with demise often tend to be soppy and becomes a mushy ride. But karwan has a surprisingly different take on the sensitive subject and succeeds in conveying the story. The talent of Irfan and Dulquer shines so bright once again. These guys are born just to act and it’s quite evident here. Little things fame Mithila feels so perfect in any role she steps in to. She plays this impetuous and headstrong teenager with a charm. This trio makes the trip so delightful and the 2 hour journey definitely proves worthy of your time. As good as this film makes you feel, it might not stay in your mind for long. May be coz of its contrived screenplay or its frail progression. But nonetheless, this is a pleasant movie for your weekend that doesn’t need you to work so much to grasp or fathom it. It is just a breezy walk in the park on a Sunday afternoon. In a nutshell, with some amusing comedies and balmy music, this is a very good movie that highly entertains you. If you’re looking for a different movie, Karwan is a wonderful film to devour. Here’s another talented but underrated director of Hollywood, Peter Berg. He frequently collaborates with Mark Wahlberg and has directed some amazing biopics like Patriot’s day, Deepwater horizon and Lone survivor, all of which stars Mark in the lead. I’m surprised with the quality of shows Sony liv produces and how each of them have an arousing effect. Undekhi is yet another testament to that fact and boy what a show this was !! The character design was fantabulous. When the story unfolds from the perspective of each character, that’s when you get that pinch of brilliance in character design and writing. Every decision a character takes has a ripple effect to the story and it just keep getting better and better every episode. This might probably one of the best thrillers you’d have watch of late. The influence some people have on the society is ruthless and it has been vividly shown in the series in the form of Rinku. His character must incite hatred and he just did that. Every scene where DSP Ghosh comes is a dynamite. He’s just lethal. His actions would make you wanna whistle. Every single cast member has done a phenomenal job. Hats off. Nowhere in this show would you feel bored or unenthusiastic. It is a perfect package. In a nutshell, this is one-of-a-kind series that deserves all your time. Contrary to the poor ratings and reviews all around, I watched this mystery thriller and I couldn’t be any more happier that I did. I’m telling you, just ignore the ratings and watch it right away. You’ll be totally glad. On the lines of Searching, The den, Profile and the latest Indian film C U Soon, this is a sequel to Unfriended (2014), which was also a real-time desktop film. But unlike its predecessor, Unfriended: Dark web doesn’t deal with Supernatural entity, instead with real human hackers. And how good was that ! The performances were life like and they freaked out just like how we will if we were in their shoes. After 10 minutes into the film, you’ll not look anywhere but their computer screen. Such was the gripping screenplay. It’s quite impossible to see that sort of an arresting narration in our conventional movies. You’ll not have enough time to process what’s going on and you just fall into the pit just like the characters in this film did. In a nutshell, this is a highly underrated movie that you MUST watch. Just ignore the public ratings and reviews. If you thought this anime is going to be all about killing an alien, you’ll be proved wrong just like I was. Surprisingly, this series has got such good humour and sentimental values in it that makes it more than just another action anime. With just 47 episodes spread over 2 seasons, this anime would impress you so easily with its undying energy and innovative strategies. There are some mindblowing combats that implement strategies unlike anything you’ve seen before. This is anime we’re talking about, of course there’ll be unseen brilliance in it. The only compliant would be its drop in the pace in the middle where you feel that the series might just not arrest our attention as much as we’d expect it to. Otherwise, the animation, the character arc, the ending were all so perfectly stitched to be a memorable show. In a nutshell, this is a very good series that would teach a lot, surprise a lot and ends on an emotional note. Takes a little time, but it’s a worthy journey. If you’re looking for a pleasurable family-friendly experience that has a great deal of entertainment and action, Tintin would be great choice. But do you need a reason apart from the fact that this was directed by the legend, Steven Spielberg? I don’t think so. The VFX in this 100 minutes treasure hunt thriller was sensational. Watch out for that one continuous shot in this film. It will completely sweep you off your feet. The stunts were stupendous and terrifically choreographed. The screenplay is energetic and a largely joyful. Tintin might be the animated version of Indiana jones and Spielberg sure as hell enjoyed making this movie by giving life to some sequences which he couldn’t do in his live action feature. In a nutshell, this is a pure entertainer. You don’t have to critique this film as it does what it promises. Maximum entertainment value guaranteed. Go for it. Often, Anime tend to pull at our heartstrings. Let it be movie or a series, they capture the emotion, the environment and the entire climate around the characters in an astonishing fashion and hits us where it hurts the most. And when they add the kinda music they make, it becomes a wholesome package. Meet Takaki and Akari from 5 cms per second. They'll soon break your heart without you even realizing that they actually did. The only reason why you might dislike this film (though it's improbable) is that the ending might leave you blank. But when you watch it closely, they might have narrated in just 60 minutes what we all would've experienced in every significant segment of our lifetime. The visuals need its own review here. I just cannot describe the impact the visuals created in me without sounding too exaggerated. But I'm telling you, every frame is wallpaper worthy and you'll just fall in love with the jaw-dropping colors and insane attention to the details. When an eye pleasing and magical visual is coalesced with a heart touching story, you experience that overwhelming sensation which is quite rare in Hollywood or any industry for that matter. In a nutshell, watch this one at the best available quality and pay attention to the minutest detail on the screen. You'll see your jaw drop to the floor. This ain't a movie. It's a journey. Live.
