Mistaken Love

This love was never meant to be 

You felt it but he did not

Countless nights sleeping together 

but you couldn’t be further apart 

Laying there he was just a body 

Taking up space

breathing in oxygen

My Funeral

I ran down the streets

of freedom 

calling every friend and foe 

As my black dress was fleeting 

over the early winter snow.

“What is this you speak of?”

My neighbours answered back.

I’m tired of pretending 

and being weighed down with lies

Come to my funeral 

to see my old self die 

My soul is resurrected

I am truly alive!

Keeper of Dreams

She kept her eyes closed

a few decades too long

Her dreams neatly packaged

in a 4x4 cardboard box

Hoping one day they’d disappear 

into particles of dust 

settling elsewhere for a new-found person to confide

Eyelids only opening upon realizing 

dreams choose us individually 

Entrusting each sought-after soul 

to give them life.

Fling me off these dirty sheets 

I’ve been laying on too long 

Rest this bed along 

the ocean's tide 

before I turn to dust

My bones  don’t give a damn 

about the morning sunshine rays

but maybe thoughts of ocean depths 

will surely make them wake.

Mind a Mystery

The dragon caught fire

while swimming

I don’t know why I have anxiety

The shark's heart became lead 

and it flew 

all the way to the Sun 

during a solar eclipse 

without protective eyewear

Send a prayer because 

I don’t know why I feel so in despair

The eagle ate a tyrannosaurus-rex 

in one fucking bite

I don’t know why my mind is an enemy

that would rather take flight.
