People had transitioned from standing to sitting on the stone floor, leaning against each other or laying in one another’s lap to try and get what little sleep they could. Tessa was wide awake, going over the plan again and again to keep herself from worrying too much, picking at her nails. A child must have woken up from a nightmare, their cries drawing her from her trance as a woman tried to calm them down with hushed whispers.

Special post with a snippet that won't be happening in the story for a while yet, but I can promise that the next chapter I post will be a longer one!!

Chapter 4 Post Announcement

“If this one person was my friend, I'd save them. If I didn't know them or I didn't like them, let them have it.” Tessa shrugged, barely taking any time to think it over.

“Save the group of people, no matter what. No one life is more important than the other.” Demarcus added after, before looking at Anastasia. “And what about you? Who would you save?”

“Who do you think set up the issue?” Anastasia grinned, causing Tessa to laugh. “Hypothetically, of course.”

Yet another chapter posted! And the plan is for the next one to be where the main turn of the story happens, hint hint! >:D

Chapter 3 Post Announcement

Demarcus nodded, reaching out to rest a hand on Tessa’s shoulder. It was then that she realized she was tearing up, turning to look back at the stars. “She would have loved it here.”

“You look like you’re a thousand worlds away.” Tessa jumped as someone sat next to her, bringing her hands up to fight if necessary. Demarcus raised his hands in return, leaning away. “Sorry, I should have given you a warning.”

“I feel like I’m thousands of worlds away from where I belong.” Tessa sighed, dropping her hands into her lap and leaned back against the step behind her. “I didn’t leave you too broken, did I?”

“I was about to ask you the same thing.” Demarcus laughed, causing Tessa to grin as well.

I'm trying to decide if for the next bit I'm writing (it's like. Two chapters ahead of what I'll post next) should be split into two regular/maybe slightly shorter chapters or one *really* long chapter because of the lore

Wow it has been a small while, but anywhos!

I've gotten busy with transitioning from the school year to the summer, plus a full time job starting this last week, but let me reassure yalls that I am plotting in my brain of mine! The next chapter is mostly written but I'm not quite happy with it yet. Should be out soon, hopefully!

“Do I get no say on the matter?” Tessa threw her arms out, watching Anastasia walk back towards the rest of the encampment. “We could fight it out. I win, I go with you. You win, and I find something else to do with my time.” Demarcus scuffed a hole into the sand with his foot, watching Tessa as she looked him over again before nodding. “I’d like that.”

Chapter 1 Post Announcement

Tessa never remained in one place for long. And she was there for even less time if someone wanted her to stay there. She was caught the first time she tried to escape, resulting in a staff member standing guard outside of her door. So, Tessa turned to the window.

Post Announcement - Prologue

“So are you learning to swim yet?” Tessa looked up from the rope she was braiding to see Satrina approaching her, grinning up at the older woman. “So are you teaching me to swim yet?” She shot back at Satrina as she sat down. “I’m a pirate, I don’t need to swim. There’s no purpose for me in the water.” “There’s a purpose for you surviving if you fall off.” Satrina shoved at Tessa’s shoulder, reaching for her own bundles of rope parts to braid together. “Then I guess I’ll not fall off.” Tessa mused, wrapping the rope round her arm for a moment as they both laughed. “You are impossible.”

First Chapter Snippet - End of Chapter

Tessa stumbled into the library, still not used to the stillness of the solid land under her feet. She knew she looked like a mess, hair and clothes still wet from the unfortunate dip she took in the ocean, sand still sticking between her fingers from the beach she was found washed upon. “Hello stranger, how may I help you today?” Another voice with that strange cadence and unfamiliar dialect caught Tessa’s attention, and the face behind it brought temporary relief. But the face did not match the voice. “Satrina, thank the gods your here-” “Here is not where you belong, is it?” That stopped Tessa in her tracks, staring owlishly at this sudden stranger. “I beg your finest pardon?” While she looked a lot like Satrina, Tessa could now see the differences. That was not her friend. The stranger gestured at Tessa’s clothes. “Those clothes are several hundreds of years out of style. And your accent, too. Hasn't been heard in ages around here. This is not the time where you belong. Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Anastasia and I am a third circle librarian in this establishment.”

Final section of the third chapter - at this point, missing development and key points. Sharing this mostly to gain interest in this project. There will be hints as to what happened earlier in the chapter as well as in the prologue. Ending on a mild cliffhanger to make people wan tot keep reading. Introduction of the second main character (Anastasia). Make her seem important, with a title like that. Generate thoughts on why librarians have different titles, hopefully make people wonder what kind of power the libraries have in this world.

Prologue Snippet

Yes, it was a wonderful day for a run. And the guards thought so too, joining her several lengths behind. Too bad they were loud about it, and they clearly did not understand the spirit of the activity, yelling for Tessa to stop. Something about not paying for the necklaces she was holding.

Introductory sentence to the whole story - and introduction of the main character (Tessa). First sentences that reader sees when opening the story. Setting - wonderful day. Action - running. Adding supporting characters of the guards. Grabbing attention with commotion and reveal of a robbery. Starts to open up the main character, telling readers about her personality and thought process.

Introductory Post

Hello everyone!

While I have had this account for a while, I figured it is finally time to put it to good use!

Let me start by introducing myself: While I mostly go by Kirp online, I will also go by Vivien here to match the blog! I am a university student in Canada, and I like to draw and write in my free time.

I'm going to use this account to yap about the story I'm creating at the moment, and I've added the first drawing of the main three characters that I currently have planned out!

To start, this story will involve one of the characters being forced forward in time to an unfamiliar era, where they meet the others and make friends! There's going to be some kind of Big Conflict where she plays a main part in solving it, but that hasn't been completely planned at the moment. So far all I have is a faint idea and some disjointed snippets, but that's where all creativity starts, right?

(The story will also have lgbtq+ characters. Many of them. All over the place!)
