He is! And not only that, he always finds a way to make sure the kids don't feel useless. He knows they're children, and children shouldn't feel useless even when doing nothing because the adults should be protecting them, but he is always aware of their mental state while also making sure they are physically safe.

Like when Raon was worried about his first-growth phase not coming, and Cale made sure Raon knew that he didn't have to rush these things and would always remain great and mighty to Cale either way. 🖐️😭

Or when it was revealed that On and Hong couldn't go into their "berserk" sate because they were mutants, and Cale said they were so strong and capable even without them! And if that's not enough, they have the rest of the fam behind them to support them!��

Or when Cale handed Raon to Lock in that scene you just brought up. Not only was he protecting the both of them, but he also gave Lock a motivation, a goal, so that he wouldn't feel completely useless. Protect Raon. Whether intentional or not, Cale still did it.

He's learnt a lot from his life as Rok Soo, and the morals he set for himself are something he never breaks. He believes that children should remain children, so he shows us not only with words, but with multiple of his actions how much he wants these children to have what he didn't as Kim Rok Soo. இ௰இ

He truly is the best! (～￣▽￣)～

One of the things I like about Cale is that, no matter how stressful and urgent of a situation he is, he never pushes the children when they are doing something but it’s not really working. For example; In Central plains, Raon and Cale went to stairway to heaven to destroy the formation that was causing a huge storm, that was preventing the triumvirate from crossing the ocean. They didn’t know how to break the barrier protecting the formation. Cale asks Raon if he found a way to break it cause Blood Demon was on her way to them at a rapid speed, Raon says that he’s never seen a barrier like this and starts to get anxious. The moment Cale noticed Raon usually confident and cheerful self starts getting anxious, Cale gets frustrated, but he doesn’t blame Raon, he knows Raon is doing his best. Cale luckily finds other way to enter the barrier with Raon and pats Raon’s back so he calms down it’s his way to reassure Raon. It’s a small gesture, one that anyone will just push aside. Me in the other hand find it adorable. Even though they were in an urgent situation and needed to act quickly he never pushes Raon or tells him to hurry up, Cale’s first priority is to make sure the children feel safe and calm so they don’t push themselves. Cale’s the best!😭♥️

To begin, I would like to say what "Wiege", the name of episode 9, means. Wiege directly translates to "cradle" and more likely than not "baby's cradle". But if you look into it, it can also mean "origin".

Today, we'll be looking at Luka and Hyuna's untold origin story.

His smile? His joy? His cheeks pink with delight? His childlike ey-Oh, wait, that picture at the top give the wrong idea. Wait-

THIS is what I'm talking about. HIS HAND REACHING OUT TO HYUNA SLIGHTLY!!!! And see his face?! HIS EYES GODDAMN EYES!!!! The art has changed so much over the course of the episodes and it's a SIGHT to see!!!

No, like, other than the beauty of it, The giddiness in his eyes is so... devastating to look at. He's so open, so vulnerable, so HUMAN, and so unlike the manipulative state we've seen him in in the last episodes. It's a look we've never gotten from Luka before and the first time we see it, he's about to lose Hyuna. His love-for another life.

இ௰இ Vivinos is cruel posting this on Valentine's Day, but their tragic romance and story parallels so well with this day that I can't fathom the pain I am feeling, hence why I'm writing this post.

Oh, speaking of life, I have a theory that may seem a tad, no, maybe a lot desperate but here me out:

If y'all watched the video, you better know EXACTLY what this scene is. And if you do, you're just as depressed as me. Because as far and as unrealistic as it may seem, we still believe in this god-forsaken modern AU. Vivinos isn't helping to stop our delusions either, so for now, let us dream. 🙂‍↕️

Also, official art confirmation that they were all besties?!?!?! FINALLY?!?! I mean, we all knew in our hearts they ewere friends and with SuaxMizi, IvanxTill, and Till and Mizi it was obvious but them actually hanging out together heals my crippling little soul. 🥺💔

Also, confirmation that Lika accidently killed Hyuna's brother?!?!?! Not sure, but it sure seems like it!

So pretty innocence destroyed :'( This darling little chub didn't deserve to be turned into a manipulative not-human. But alas, that's how thing are like, mm?

I'm glad how much we got to focus on Luka's and Hyuna's life on this portion of the episodes while also including bits and pieces of the other four. We learned that Hyuna lost a game, making us think that's when she decided to escape. And not only have we gotten more context on the dead brother scene, but we can also do a deep dive into his character now that we can see different parts of him at different times.

Hyuna and Mizi talking about what I assume is Sua's sacrifice was such a small yet touching scene, just like the rest of Alien Stage. I'm glad that was included, no matter how small. (THAT DAMNED ROCKET SHIP AHHHHHHH)

Ah, the dialogue for Hyuna's death was very heavy, oddly uplifting and downlifting at the same time, and so, so true. The only thing keeping Hyuna from completely breaking free from her chains to her past on ALNST was Luka, is Luka, and will always be Luka. Se almost made it but seeing him again cost her her life because she could not LET GO. He kept her held back in the smallest yet most impactful way possible.

"LUKA, live with love."

And he will, because that's all he's got left. He's lost his friends, possibly his career, and his humanity. but from that smile he made as he went for a hug, we know that he can still love.

For now, at least.

Honestly, I hope Mizi and Luka can look past their (many) differences in their grief and work together to... join the rebels? Take down ALNST? IDK, but whatever they do, I think they'll have to stick together because they are each other's only sense of companionship left on this world.

I'm not hearing you, I'm fully engaged to what you just said!

THIS SONG FITS HIM LIKE A GLOVE, A SHOE, AND A FREAKING SHIRT.

And not just when he became Team Leader either, this song also reminds me a lot of his first few moments as Cale Henituse. Of course, this fits him as when he became Team Leader too! But it also fits as his time as Cale Henituse before he decided to BECOME Cale Henituse.

This is a comment from that very same song, and after reading through it I find it so similar to KRS!Cale's situation. Ah, also, this al is just my interpretation so don't take anything as canon! This also contains spoilers to the end of Part 1 of the Novel.

As Team Leader, we know how he became the person he became because that was the only method he knew he could use to survive. To live. To continue to go on even after Team 1's demolishment. He dislodged himself from most of his identity in a way, and only used the useful bits of himself, (i.e. Record, Instant, and his experiences) to be a good team leader worthy of being Lee Soo Hyuk's predecessor. And by doing that, he loses touch of himself.

When he became Cale Henituse, he kept referring to himself as Kim Rok Soo at least in the beginning. It was much after that he began thinking of himself as Cale and even later he fully accepted his identity.

Until that point, he also kept himself away from the world in a way. That the "characters" he met were all just a means to an end. That they held no actual value to him, when, spoilers alert, they did. He kept referring back to [The Birth of a Hero], not just to survive in this world, but to remind himself that he is in a fictional world that doesn't and shouldn't matter to him in any way.

And when people started praising him as a hero, it must've reminded him partially of his time as Team Leader of Team 1. He feels disconnected from their reality. From their world. From their story because he doesn't view "himself" as "one of them". He couldn't understand why they were praising him, admiring him, and, for some, starting to care about him, when he shouldn't even exist in this world.

He's not Cale Henituse, he's Kim Rok Soo.

The amazing thing about TCF is how he gradually starts to accept this supposedly fictional world as his own even before learning about the whole Nealon Barrow/Choi Jung Gun debacle. It was slowburn, but at the end, seeing Cale happy at the end was all worth it. (Even though he's still suffering trying NOT to become a god, at least he isn't as alone as he was when he first became Cale :D)

I agree with you on almost everything, but I might add onto your last paragraph. From the point of view of a child, parents are literally their whole lives, at least when they are young.

If I were in Cale's position, I probably wouldn't have handled with as much grace and humility as he did. Truthfully, I would've cried all day. But I know even at that young of an age, if I had lost a parent, it would seem natural to me that my father was grieving and I should at least try to comfort him, even if it doesn't work.

Also, Deruth is a noble and Cale knows that as he was being taught about all that. So I guess remarriage is expected? Og!Cale didn't really have anyone other than his mom and dad like the most of us. No siblings, no cousins, no grandparents or aunts or uncles to rely on. Probably not friends either, which is why he tried his best to do what he can for Deruth as he is the only one Cale has.

If I were able to go to that time, I would hug little Cale, kiss his cheeks, and tell him he is doing his best and that is enough. Then, I would go to Deruth, give him a hug or pat on the bag, then say some sense into him so that he understands that:

Yes, grieve and then move on. Get married, have kids, idc. But don't make your son grieve alone, when he has literally no one else, and don't move on when he can't catch up to you.

Og!Cale didn't want to lose another parent. And all his life until the war, he kept doing everything he could to make sure his father didn't ever have to cry again by protecting Violan and Basen.

But little did he know, he still lost Deruth. All because Deruth never had to courage to show his son that he can be his father, not just his caregiver.

Let's all face it: Deuth wasn't a bad father to Og!Cale. He was millions of times better than a lot of fictional fathers and I wholeheartedly agree with that. ദ്ദി（• ˕ •マ.ᐟ

And I'm all for different opinions. People can view one thing in various different ways, and that's perfectly understandable! I don't like Deruth and that's mine.

Deruth was-no, is a coward. The lovely author of the novel has made it pretty clear. And I don't hate him for it. Being a coward is not a sin, but neglecting your son is.

Like b*tch, most fanfictions make you a better father than you are just because your wife was dead like WTF?!?! Your son's mom was dead too REMEMBER THAT?!?! 눈_눈

And I'm not against Cale and Deruth having a good relationship or those fanfics that basically erase Deruth's wrongdoing because to be honest, I enjoy them too. It's much easier to pretend Deruth was a good father and that our lovely little Og!Cale had a wonderful life than look at canon. o(TヘTo)

Let's recap: Deruth was a decent father until Jour died. Then he went into a deep depression of which Cale tried his bestest to pull his father out of. We know Cale basically ignored his own sorrow just to take care of his father AND the count duties his father was ignoring at the same time. While there is nothing wrong with grieving as losing Jour was very hard for Deruth, couldn't he have at least put SOME effort into assigning someone efficient to handle his duties so 7-year-old Cale didn't have to?

While on the topic of grieving, Deruth not only failed his duties as a count but as a father. I personally have no experience with this, but I had a friend with a dead mother. Even though her father must've been sad too, he put in effort to take care of her and her sister, send them to school, make money, manage the household and everything. Fathers and mothers push aside their sorrow every day to do the bast they can for their children. Deruth, on the other hand, was too much of a fool to do any of that.

Deruth wasn't the only one who lost Jour, after all. Cale lost his mother. The one who gave birth to him, raised him, hugged him, told her all his secrets, whom did the same in return, and was the only other person with the same bright and beautiful hair that he had.

And he could've turned around after a few weeks and fixed everything up and let both him and Cale heal with each other. But NOOOO~ He had to leave his only cute, lovely, wonderful, but most of all GRIEVING son all alone in a cold and lonely mansion for vacation. Like he could've at least taken him along so they could grieve together? But NOOOO~ Cale looks too much like his dead wife and that's so iMpOsSiBle~ ～(　TロT)σ

But he fixed that? How? By marrying the woman on the spot! Bringing in a new countess when no one but him got over the old one and turning up all the dark shades of sorrow into wedding curtains before Cale even knew what was happening! (°ロ°)

But I also know he had good intentions. Being the count and all, he probably knew marrying Violan would mean she could help her with the household. Maybe he also thought that Cale would immediately think of her as his mother.

Now, him falling in love wasn't a sin and Violan is an amazing woman😍, but I think he undermined his son's sorrow just because he found a reason to move on from Jour.😔

BTW, Violan, Basen, and Lily are amazing. They're one of my most fave fictional families and no one can tell me otherwise. Go them! q(≧▽≦q)

And as the years go by, our smart Cale realizes that the vassals and the collateral family are coming after Violan and Basen and decided to throw away his life and soul all for his father's picturesque perfect family; just so that coward can be happy.

And then KRS!Cale comes along (also love him, go my baby make fires 🔥 and steal MONAH!!! 🫰💰💵) and suddenly, Deruth thinks Cale is all "fixed" and "not broken" so he can finally reach out to his son, only it's NOT HIS SON ANYMORE!!! Like, he had over 10 years even after marrying Violan to reach out to him but ?????

But since there are no implications of him raising a hand against Cale, I don't hate him and wish for his death like another certain protagonist's father (I'm looking at you, Kim Dokja's 'father'), but that doesn't mean I can just forgive and forget all of this, okay?

Yes, he let Cale waste his life away because he couldn't even protect the new family member that he brought into the family HIMSELF as the count, so Cale had to do it himself. And from what I can infer, when the Choi Han incident happened in TBoaH, he didn't even show up or visit him even though we know Cale would fight the damn gods if it were the other way around. He did provide Cale with the best treatment and kept an eye on him, but couldn't bear to face him.

So in conclusion: I don't really hate Deruth, but please for the love of peace, family, and chaos DON'T convince me to like him one bit.

Oh my, let me add to that please.

I'm pretty sure that during that time, Kim Rok Soo was aware of what he was doing to himself. He's observant enough to know that about himself. Of course, as fist he might have deluded himself to believe he was only working this hard because it was Lee Soo Hyuk's dying wish to keep the Company going with him as team leader. Later, he probably thought that this was his way of healing, working towards the last wish of his hyungs.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, months into years, years to a decade. And, this is only a theory of what I assume OP and me are thinking happened, but Rok Soo suddenly looked at the Company his hyungs and he helped built, and realized: "Oh, I did it." Or maybe "I did as much as I could, so now I should go see them as I finally think I paid their wishes enough to finally faced them again, after all this time."

I don't know if Rok Soo actually thought he did his fair dues yet since that wasn't revealed to us. But I do know that Cale always goes above and beyond. He took his team leader and hyung's words VERY seriously, and as much as he might've made himself believe he was alright, he wasn't. Not until he got his closure about them in TCF anyway.

Now, on the topic of Cale's feelings... He's opening up. Very slowly. It's something in the series that takes long, gradual steps, but I'm hopeful as I heard that there are like 4 parts to the TCF series. In Part 1, Cale has just met all the characters and is slowly getting to know them. I hope their relationships continue to evolve through the next parts until Cale is finally at peace with everything.

Either way, I'm glad he is happy for now, and will be able to meet both of his hyungs together soon, right beside his family. <3

Kim rok soo spent at least 10 years as team leader

He didn't take a single break until he got korea back on it's feet

And when he finally felt like he somewhat completed the responsibility LSH and CJS left him with after their death, he took a day off to visit their graves

And then he got shunted into another world and was given more tasks to save it (letting krs in on a problem is the same thing as giving it to him, he ends up fixing things because of his self destructive levels of responsibility anyway)

This fact bothers me a lot, i wish krs gave himself more room to grieve over his friends :c he drowned out his sorrows with more work because he can't let anyone else carry his baggage

Imo the more time cale spends working, the deeper in his own grief he is. He'll only be able to achieve his slacker life once he lets go of everything he's bottled up for so long

I mean yeah he can talk about his issues sometimes but that's not the same as letting go of the baggage and relaxing

And, idk, if you guys noticed, but I think there was a new scene but small scene in the first novel that wasn't there when I read it online on eatapplepies (shoutout to the amazing team!) for the first time. It was with Bilose Flynn and he was thinking about something. I may be wrong, as I may have forgotten that scene, but I think it foreshadowed some things that happened in Part 2 of the novel but... yeah, I could be wrong.

Anyway, I will diligently read the 2nd novel to see if I find scenes I don't remember in the web novel just in case I'm not wrong!

Once when I was younger, I joined an online chatting site to meet with random people. I think it was called Much Friends. Anyway, it was anonymous, and I was bored, so I hopped in. I meet some people, do a few greetings, but they always ended up leaving pretty soon. At that time, I didn't know why. Then I go to chat with some guy, about favorite colors, TV shows, and whatnot when he asked me what I was doing here.

I replied in the most innocent and naive sounding way: To make friends! Isn't that's what the site was made for?'

He didn't reply for a while. I sat there confused until he texted: Y'know.. people usually come here to do sexting.

I didn't know what it was and looked up. I think I just said "Oh, bye." and left the chat. I never tried to make friends on those sites again but man, was that a learning experience.

My RokCale Week Day 1 Fic (or a part of it)

Kim Rok Soo was being honest when he promised his hyungs he wouldn't bring back any trouble he caused back home.

He was also being honest when he said he didn't even cause or have any part in the said trouble. The trouble just latched onto him, just like always.

Only this time, in a quite literal sense.

On, their neighbor's grandchild, had developed a persistent cold a few days before that held her hostage at the mercy of her bed. Hong and Raon weren't allowed to go near her, but they barely ever left the doorway of her bedroom unless called for.

Weeks before, the three children had tirelessly worked to convince Rok Soo to take them to the festival flea market, to which he had begrudgingly agreed. His hyungs had laughed at the sight of the children tangling him in their circle as they picked out what to eat and do, and they agreed to tag along too. However, when the date finally arrived, everyone found themselves unwilling to part with On, knowing the flea market would feel wrong without her.

But Kim Rok Soo stubbornly decided that even if they couldn't enjoy the festival, the food was too good to be wasted. So he decided he was going to use all of the money in his hyung's credit card (three cheers for Lee Soo Hyuk's acting skills!) to buy as much food as possible and bring it back to share with everyone.

He knew they would appreciate the gesture, even if they couldn't physically be there with them. And so, with a determined glint in his eye, Kim Rok Soo set off to make sure the children didn't miss out on the delicious treats of the flea market.

He was just heading home with bags filled with goods when a teenager rapidly strided up to him with a ferocious look on his face.

He thought, 'Nope,' and was about to dash away when the red-haired boy burst into tears and started bawling at him.

"H-h-how COULD YOU, YOU INSOLENT BASTARD!!! I-I LOVED YOU with all my heart, YET YOU left ME to play with Lady Capulet!!!"

Kim Rok Soo froze in shock, trying to make sense of the teenager's outburst. Lady Capulet? Who the hell was Lady Capulet? And why did this boy think he had any connection to her?

As the teenager continued to cry and shout accusations, Kim Rok Soo realized that there was a heavy flush in his face and that dazed look in his eyes that only drunk people have.

Great. Now he had to deal with a drunk and probably heartbroken teenager, or he was sure the whole town would gang up on him for not "taking responsibility" or something equally horrific.

Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself and gently placed a hand on the boy's shoulder, trying to explain that he was not the person the boy thought he was. But the boy was inconsolable, and Rok Soo knew he had a long night ahead of him.
