Rereading this book is so fascinating because now I know what everything is for! I forgot that Inej had to rush off to get paraffin and the first time I payed it no mind but now I know how important it is and it's so cool. I feel like Kaz, being able to see the whole picture 😆

Friendly reminder that Kaz goes to stare at the Emerald Palace everytime he feels low on rage. Just one good look at the eyesore and he's back and ready to take on the world.

Six of Crows Theatre Headcannons (because why not)
(mostly musical theatre because that's all I have experience with, sorry)
Inej is that girl who used to perform all the time when she was a kid but is now more comfortable working back stage. She's in her element when the lights shut off and although you can't ever find her she'll be exactly where she needs to be when it's time.
Kaz is that tech manager that everyone is afraid of. He knows everything that goes on and will come for you if you mess with something. Doesn't exactly enjoy theatre but definetly enjoys telling people what to do. (Plus there's a girl who works back stage that he's just a mite bit attached to...)
Jesper is that one theatre kid that just oozes theatre kid-ness. He's confident, picks up choreography really quick and has a singing voice that makes everyone melt. Flirty birdy #1.
Nina is flirty birdy #2. She's that one actor that knows everyone's names. She keeps everyone laughing and relaxed when the stress starts to pile on. You can tell she loves the spot light but she's also the most supportive and helpful member of the cast. Couldn't carry a tune in a bucket but her memorization skills and knack for accents more than make up for it.
Matthias is that one guy who got roped into theatre by his girlfriend and is only there to support her. He works the flies and doesn't associate with anyone else.
Wylan is the sound director that Kaz took under his wing and unwittingly introduced to Jesper (was it truly unwittingly though? Or was it jaut another bit of Kaz's matchmaking magic?).
Perr Hascal is the official director but everyone knows Kaz is really in charge.

Re-reading Six of Crows and...
Oh Saints, I forgot how dramatic Kaz can be. He literally closes almost every chapter with some witty quip that, the first go round, impressed me but now all I can think about is how long he spent brooding in his room to come up with that one 🙄🤣.

...do you think Matthias is scared of snakes? Kind of random I know but he hopes that they weren't set free during his (chaotic) prison break and I can't imagine there's many of them in Fjerda.

I'm rereading Six of Crows and have decided to compile my unhinged commentary here. Prepare for ramblings, Kanej brain rot, and way too much thought and words put into things that are actually quite simple.
Let's begin.

Wow.
Well then, here we go again.
They've done it again folks, the red demon has once again cruelly canceled a beloved, superbly performing show with a thriving fandom and enthusiastic original authors. There are no words to truly describe what I feel right now but Saints can I try. I was shattered when I first learned my first love, Lockwood and Co. wouldn't be getting the a season two like it deserved. I'm ashamed to admit it now, but I did harbor some resentment to the seeming fortune that Shadow and Bone enjoyed in the wake of our loss. But now I see you were not the true enemy. You never were.
Now that I can see things clearly, a new emotion is coming to the surface. It's a strange mix of comradery, commiseration, and something so akin to rage it scares me sometimes. None of us deserve this. Not a single fandom, fan, or devoted author deserves to feel this joy, this link we all shared being ripped apart and cut short before our eyes.
It is from the show Shadow and Bone that I found the Grishaverse. I'd heard some friends talk about it before but it was seeing this amazing team of actors, writers, and crew bring it together on screen that gave me the push I needed to dive into it's origins. And, if I'm to be honest, after reading the books I was a changed person. They introduced me to a part of the world I had never seen before. A part that was cruel and dirty and dark yes, but also a part that was also full of life, that showed me true connection, a part of the world that was filled with so much love it made my heart's ache for home go quiet...and fade.
It helped me connect with one of the best friends I have ever had. She is someone I know I will love and cherish for the rest of my life - and our first real conversation started because of Shadow and Bone.
So. Here we are again. About to embark on a quest to save yet another show. It won't be easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. We'll keep going, because that's what we do.
We never stop fighting.
