i still think about that white transmasc person on twitter who called my art an "abomination that's forcing diversity" and decided to use art of two characters that are fat black trans men (Salem and Hitch) one of which is visibly disabled. the post had almost 3k likes.
my anger has calmed down from witnessing that from a month ago, but just seeing other trans people nonchalantly call other trans people who are less visible "abominations" is really horrific to me, especially black trans people, who systemically are having it the fucking worse rn.
it also makes me genuinely upset cuz even non black people who still resemble my characters are directly affected by that vile sentiment too(fat and disabled or just clocky trans people overall)

Tuvok & Chakotay need to be forced to renovate a house together where Chakotay actually physically builds/fixes things and Tuvok decorates (while giving his opinions on the safety of the things that Chakotay builds) and they snip at each other the whole time because Chakotay hates Tuvok's decorative taste. And also Janeway is there, not caring about any of it. She's doing her own thing. Like, investigating if the house is haunted or something. In the few minutes since I posted about this I remembered that Tuvok is 1000% a "No I've never done this before but I have full confidence I can figure it out. Let's tear out that wall." kind of guy. Chakotay is like "Maybe you shouldn't be messing with the electric" and Tuvok tells him that his opinion is as heard as it is unhelpful. Anyway, Chakotay Janeway and Tuvok should absolutely take on a home renovation project post-Voyager to distract themselves from how miserable and confusing their lives are. Let's just fix the house. The house can be fixed at least. (This also makes every setback hit harder). It's not even a house FOR any of them really it's just The House. Janeway bought it for some reason after her sister pointed it out to her on one of the try-to-keep-the-depression-at-bay walks she forces her to take. Janeway, buying a house because who cares credits don't mean anything and neither, she suspects, does her life now: Could a depressed person do this?

seems like black trans people are only thrown on the back burner until it's time to use our existence in an argument and then talk over us until we get hate-crimed and killed and then #saytheirname and cycle repeat!

a lot of public harassment transfems go through is often because the perpetrators are waiting for their victim to act out, to say or do something in her distressed state that they can twist it into something she will never be allowed to come back from. but what i think people, and especially those harassers, don't realize is that most girls won't immediately go for publicly doing something stupid. oftentimes the "acting out" reaction desired by these people doesn't turn out to be a public meltdown but instead self harm or suicide attempts. so yeah sorry for taking you harassing trans women seriously but it's fucking serious and these people are pretending it's just messing around while they play with my sisters mental health and lives

i am a trans guy but I don't reclaim masculinity in completeness because it's mostly rooted in eurocentrism. black queer masculinity and femininity simultaneously on the other hand is absolutely beautiful and I've been looking at a lot more examples of it, especially with ballroom culture and black gender non conforming queer culture
It is beautiful to be a part of this and put that in my art and myself. i do have to acknowledge that I'm doing the "black person unknowingly is pioneering a new perspective of queers" but like, I rather stay authentic to myself.

I'm trying to count how many times Hiccup is captured/kidnapped throughout both series, the movies and the short films, so here's my criteria:
Any time he is unwillingly moved from one location to another by a dragon, viking or other character.
This includes any dragons picking him up and flying off somewhere, even if he is okay with it later.
This does not include when Toothless/his friends drag him off to show him something.
Any situation that prompted the dragon riders to rescue him.
Any plans that involved him giving himself up or joining up with a villain/antagonist.
This does not include the time he and Dagur were trapped on that island together.
Any time he is tied up and led somewhere or locked up/held in place with a guard.
Here is the list of situations I have compiled in (hopefully) chronological order:
HTTYD
Congratulations, no captures or kidnappings.
GIFT OF THE NIGHT FURY
When Meatlug (accidentally) brings Hiccup along to the Rookery.
RIDERS OF BERK
S1E6 - Hiccup gets taken to Dragon Island.
S1E16 - Hiccup is captured by the Outcasts on their island.
S1E19 - Alvin Captures Hiccup and Toothless at the "Isle of Night".
DEFENDERS OF BERK
S1E20 - Hiccup gives himself up to Dagur as part of his plan with Alvin.
RACE TO THE EDGE
S1E1 - the Dragon Riders get captured by Daugr on a hunter ship.
S1E7 -The twins put him in prison (this one's just here because I think it's funny).
S2E6 - The Dragon Hunters capture him.
S2E11 - The Dragon Riders get captured trying to save the Skrill.
S3E1 - Hiccup is captured by Dragon Hunters while trapped on an island with Dagur.
S3E8 - Hiccup and Toothless get caught in a Dragon Hunter Trap and are kidnapped and forced to participate in dragon fights.
S3E12 - Viggo captures all the Dragon Riders at the auction.
S3E13 - The Defenders of the Wing capture the Dragon Riders.
S4E3 - First Hiccup is caught by Amos and Berthel.
S4E3 - Then he's caught by Savage.
S4E3 - Then Krogan gets him after Throk saves him.
S4E3 - Ryker captures him for the tiniest bit right before the riders arrive.
S4E10 - Hiccup is caught with Ruffnut when he tries to rescue her from Viggo's trap. Unlike the other traps, he needs the other dragon riders to rescue them.
S5E2 - The Sandbuster captures Hiccup and Snotlout.
S6E8 - Viggo hands Hiccup over to Krogan as part of their plan.
HTTYD 2
Valka kidnaps Hiccup and Toothless.
HTTYD 3
Grimmel captures the dragon riders.
HOMECOMING
Once again, no captures of kidnappings
Up For Debate:
There are a few situations which technically fit the criteria, but I'm not sure if they fit considering the context of the show:
S5E5 - the riders are stuck on Vanaheim, guarded by the Sentinels. (Rtte)
S1E3 - This is a technicality, but when Hiccup joins up with Dagur to keep him away from the other dragons. (Dob)
EDIT: I forgot that even though my criteria says that the time Dagur and Hiccup are trapped on that island together (S3E1 of RTTE) doesn't count, because he is joining up with an (at the time) antagonist, there is a moment when Hiccup is captured by Dragon Hunters near the end of the episode.
After careful discussion (aka me ranting at my roommate) S4E10 of RTTE is also moving from "up for debate" to the official list. These changes are reflected above.
This brings our official count to 22 captures/kidnappings!
Honestly, the hardest part about this was finding the distinction between being captured or being trapped and what I wanted to count. When Hiccup isn't captured, he spends a lot of time in traps.

Was drunk and bored and getting annoyed at the ridiculous coverage of the US election so I decided to fix the place.
I'm from Australia where we only have 7 states, as such I have the (objectively correct) opinion that 50 is too many states, so I decided to cut it down to 10.

A few notes on my improved US map:
•Despite Illinois making the cut, Chicago is now in Michigan, due to the state getting the entire bank of its namesake.
•Boston is also in Michigan due to special exception.
•New York is now the capital of Pensylvania
•Yes that's how you spell Pensylvania
•The border of California is just roughly the Rockies, no need to overthink it.
•Making Florida bigger actually dilutes it's power, but Texas must be abolished
•Colorado should still be a rectangle, that's my mistake, I just couldn't be bothered fixing it.
•Alaska has been returned to Canada with a hand written apology
•All the random ass islands that the US forgot to pretend they didn't colonise have gained independence
Please let me know if there are any more improvements you can think of.
Edit: As a number of you have mentioned, Alaska never belonged to Canada, and giving it to them would be incredibly wrong when the native people have been trying to gain independence all this time.
Luckily, the apology note got lost in the mail in all the turmoil, so Canada never realised they're meant to have Alaska now. The Alaskans just start quietly self-governing and hoping the US and Canada don't notice, then after a few years they declare independence.
