洞 ( The Hole ) is a film by Tsai Ming Liang , starring Yang Kuei-Mei and Lee Kang Sheng.
The film started off with a virus outbreak surrounding a run-down apartment building where essential services like water and electricity are cut off by the government . The scene setting is set in the quaratine areas of the building where shop owner Xiao Kang ( Lee Kang Sheng ) and the woman living directly below his apartment ( Yang Kuei Mei ) refused to leave quaratine zone and remained.
Xiao Kang's apartment developed a leak and called a plumber. But while searching for the leak , the plumber created a hole in Xiao Kang's floor and hole in the woman's ceiling. As the film gradually progresses , the hole becomes bigger and bigger , causing more interaction between the distanced neighbours.
There are a few dance and musical sequences in the film that lightens the mood of the overall movie which is quite static and dull. The elements that surround the 2 main characters represent their being and as the film slowly progresses , their gradual self-destruction as well as their environment's slow disintegration after the building's abandonment.

The Tragedy of Belladonna ( 哀しみのベラドンナ ) also known as Kanashimi No Beradonna ) is a tragedy feature film in 1973 made by Mushi Productions.Directed and co-written by Eiichi Yamamoto.
It is the third and final of the trilogy of the Animerama , a series of adult anime feature films that were originally conceived and initiated by Osamu Tezuka. Visuals of this film are usually still life paintings and inspirations are taken from western art influences like Aubrey Beardsley , Gustav Klimt and tarot card illustrations.
What draws me to this feature film would be the colour scheme and how it matches and portrays the mood and a certain expression of the different parts of the story. The film shows of the different aspects of emotions , love , harmony and betrayal using instrumentals as well as the lesser dialogues present.
Out of the 3 Animerama films , this would be one of my personal favourite because I simply adore the artistic and watercolor style as well as the minimal dialogue. Like the title , the portrayal of sadness and tragedy is very prominent and is displayed in a very beautiful and staggering way.
