I have this weird headcannon that Owen Carvour and (agent) Curt Mega fit into different genres of spy story.

Curt, and saf in general, is obviously parodying Bond movies with the ridiculously high budget for tech and the glamour of casinos and galas.

I like to imagine Owen’s experience of espionage (before and following his fall) fit more into the style of John le Carré’s stories, in which spy work is unheroic, brutal, and psychologically taxing. He would have a lot less leeway in following orders and most of his work would involve memorising and relaying information, and assassinations when necessary.

I love the idea of them meeting up for a joint mission; Curt has flown in on a private jet, but Owen has been lying in the back of a supply truck for four days and praying he doesn’t get caught at a boarder. They make some witty jokes about MI6 being stingy with its budgeting.

recently i got some blood test results that said i was iron deficient. i have been staying strong by reminding myself that david ward would also most likely be iron deficient. he simply has that unmistakable aura of iron deficiency and most likely a lack of vitamin d as well. maybe if that man had some more spinach in his diet he would be having a marginally better time? please consider a sequel to i am in eskew where david ward eats a vegetable and feels slightly (but not entirely) better. i think this would be a revolutionary and important piece of media.

I’ve been watching a show called scavenger’s reign and there’s a scene where two characters have a very similar conversation:

“I always thought I’d die somewhere far away from home. It’s the risk we take.”

When I first heard that I immediately imagined it as a conversation between Curt and Owen. I can really visualise them talking about it in the middle of the night before a mission.

Imagine cutting between that and Tatiana saying “A spy is a spy, he knew the risk”.

I’ve also thought a bit about the possibility of them being sacrificed by their agencies; a situation where the mission was more important than safely extracting the agents.

I think Owen would have prepared for that possibility. Curt, on the other hand, fully believes that he is not expendable; he is considered the top spy and has a whole tech division dedicated to equipping him with cool gadgets.

yknow, the sad thing is that curt and owen both knew their deaths on the job were probably inevitable, and they probably talked about if they were to die on the job together what they would do. i wonder if curt was optimistic about saving owen. or maybe they knew from the beginning they would not save each other. it is better one of them die than both of them, after all

the song ‘I won’t say I’m in love’ from Hercules but it is Owen Cavour in disguise as the Deadliest man. The backup singers who keep interjecting are other side characters and Owen keeps stabbing them (I’m picturing the two guys he was with in the bomb transaction and the nazi henchmen).

Also the lyric “that’s ancient history, been there, done that!” really works for Owen and Curt’s relationship.
