Batman #101? 

A lot of people asked me what I was going to do with my time after I was finished doing 100 Batman drawings on my iPad. The obvious answer: spend 3 months animating over a baby picture of myself as a music video for Dog Is Blue naturally!

Of course, it goes against everything I believe in to not slip a Batman cameo in there, so see if you can spot this little Easter egg as the video plays:

Batman #100

A series of Batman drawings that doesn't feature the Batusi is a crime against Bat-humanity. I figured it was a simple, but fitting end to the 100 day challenge. 

What's next? Well, first there's the awesome celebratory Batman-themed concert on Dec. 3 in Toronto. After that, I'm not so sure...these drawings were meant to brush the dust off and get back in the art game. I'll definitely keep sketching on the ol' iPad, but I'd like to do some physical mixed-media work too.

Batman #99

I had this drawing almost completely done late last night then somehow managed to erase the entire thing. I started again at 2am. Thankfully, there are parts of this one that I actually like better than the first draft, but it's safe to say my face looked like Batman's for a few minutes there...

It's also safe to say that Batman's probably not winning whatever game they're playing (though it doesn't look like Superman's doing any better).

This either looks like a cave-dwelling Batman (he does have a Bat-cave...) or a poorly thought-out attempt at drawing Batman looking at his reflection in a muddy puddle (that's a fun thing to say...muddy puddle).

There's a world where Batman and Superman constantly star in the ultimate buddy-cop/bromance movie (which is the only kind of world I want to live in). There's also a world where they just got fat...

This drawing started out as 'Fat-Elvis Batman,' but took on a bit of life of its own. It might be fun to draw a whole series of superheroes as dirty fat dudes. 

...though a sandwhich on my belt, for those hunger emergencies, would be awesome.

This drawing's for my sister. If there's a hallmark card out there that says "Sorry that your fish died" I hope it looks something like this.  

...I also like to think Batman painted his fish to look like the joker.

After experimenting with removing the layers of yesterday's drawing I decided to start today's Batman with that simple, graphic-design look as the goal from the start. Not reinventing the wheel, but fun nonetheless...

If I were clever I'd have themed Batman drawings 66 and 89 after the 1966 and 1989 Batman movies... 

Instead you get Batman: striking fear with flying jazz-hands since 1939. 

Interestingly (to me, at least) I almost prefer this drawing with most of the layers stripped away...

A quick, super-simple drawing today to emphasize simplicity.

This one actually looks like it was drawn on a computer using as few lines as possible (I've tried to draw a few using only one continuous line, but it never works out).

This started as a generic Batman pose, but I couldn't figure out what the hell he ought to be doing in that position. In the end it reminded me of a guy I saw playing dice in downtown San Francisco yesterday morning, so there you go.

You can tell Killer Croc is about to lose his shirt (if he had one). This is also the first actual appearance of Robin in these drawings. Finally! Took you long enough to join the party, you little jerk.
