I love the idea of all the batkids kinda being weird with Bruce's money - Dick doesn't want it; Tim has his own money; Damian was born in luxury and doesn't really comprehend Bruce showing affection with money. And then there's Jason texting Bruce something like "put a couple of hundreds on my bank account" or just forwarding Bruce his bills because goddamn, that boy has pride but he's not stupid: if the old man wants to pay, let him fucking pay.

r/Nightwing was talking this morning about how Blüdhaven and Gotham’s underworlds are so connected that even if Dick tries to get away from Bruce + Gotham, he still has all these ties even on his home turf. And this got me thinking about his first few months — maybe even weeks — as Nightwing, where he’s trying to establish himself as his own vigilante, cleaning up crime in HIS city, only to chase down a lead and that lead goes……right back to Gotham. Every single case ties back to that damned city somehow. The kidnapping ring started in the Narrows. The stolen diamonds got processed through a fence in downtown Gotham. The guys he’s chasing on his bike decide to — you guessed it — flee into Gotham, because of course they do! Why would they go anywhere else?

I agree with the person who says canon is made to be broken but heres another option: Dick after he meets Jason ot Tim snf is done with their nonsense vs Dick after after thr whole batfamily is forged and he's lost so many people hes just happy to talk to his family.

I genuinely love how in batfam fanfics….

Dick is like: little D (Damian), Timmy Tim, little wing (Jason) I’m on my way my baby bros!!!

And then in canon….

Dick: *perpetually perturbed by his codependent siblings but knows he’ll never not answer cause who else is gonna pull their dumbassses out the gutter*
