i'm not white either and i think it's hypocritical u made a comment on how fandoms always ship the white people, and a large part of your blog is byler.. i follow so many lumax shippers and i can guarantee u her coma hasn't stopped the content

that's great for them. it's great that lumax shippers post about them. but maybe consider the fact i wasn't strictly talking about max's coma. maybe consider the fact that i was talking more about lucas as a character in the last ask outside of lumax. consider the fact that i didn't like how LUCAS was treated in the finale. i'm glad that people post about lumax, but seeing lucas get violently assaulted with racist undertones throughout that entire sequence was fuking triggering, and i hate thinking about it. i hate thinking about how lucas is treated in the show as a whole, and that includes feelings i have against lumax. and as someone who's also poc, i feel like you should understand that existing in a predominantly white fandom space doesn't encourage you to speak up about these things. maybe you're different, but shit like this has only made me feel worse about myself. i don't have the privilege of being unaffected by this shit. so if you have any more thoughts about how i should just reblog lumax content and specifically ship content that isn't byler, because i'm obligated to do so if i speak up about racism in the TAGS of a post that isn't even mine, do me a fuking favour and keep it to yourself.

maybe my blog is currently byler because the byler fandom is the most active rn? i'm also not even online that often. i don't post that much. i'd post more lumax content if i wasn't still traumatized over the finale. i'd make more gifs if i actually had the TIME.

i've literally gone off tumblr before just because of how much byler content there was during the wait for st4 because i don't like being a part of predominantly white fandom spaces. i like byler, i like analyzing them, but i've been exhausted before. i've tried talking about lucas' character but i've privated a lot of my lucas related posts because i don't feel safe here. you realize i'm a black st fan right? i've seen the racism in this fandom and it makes me genuinely uncomfortable. thinking about how billy is the most popular character in the fandom scares the shit out of me. i've thought about deleting my blog. i still think about deleting my blog. it's overwhelming how shitty this fandom can be, and it's done me more harm than good to be as active as i was before. so thanks a lot for the ask. i didn't need it.

Hear me out

After escaping the lab again, and probably even before that, Eleven genuinely wanted to break up with Mike first. And here's why:

The pizza scene keeps me awake at night primarily because of how El acted.

I'm sorry but holding out both hands with pity written all over her face? She looks like a mom trying to deliver the sad news about goldfish passing away to her 5 years old son.

The way she emphasized the "I missed you" part almost like trying to ensure him how important he still is to her, before officially getting to the actual point.

But Mike interrupted her.

And notice how she looks away once he tries to bring back the conversation about his feelings. She doesn't want to hear it. Not anymore. She made up her mind. She wants to let go. And she wishes he could do the same.

Eleven has had enough. And I don't blame her honestly.

Ironically, staying in the lab made her realize just how much potential she has.

She went from crying silently at the back of a police van to threatening to kill everyone if they don't open the door. She's a badass ffs, an actual badass.

She realized that it's okay for her to have the best of both worlds. She can easily do sweet, a little clumsy when it comes to social cues teen by day and friendly neighborhood "spiderman" by night. And she doesn't need a fucking boyfriend to remind her that.

She doesn't have to give up on Jane in order to become El.

She doesn't have to give up on El in order to become Jane.

But she does have to give up on Mike in order to become both.

I saw you and other people talking about el's "you think I'm a monster" vs will's "you make [me] feel like I'm better for being different" and then I went crazy again over the fact that will was talking about himself in that van scene but then since mike was mostly oblivious he might have thought that it was EL he was making feel better for being different. And then we get to the monologue and Mike still talking about her being a superhero and all the supernatural things she can do and suddenly??? The hero worship in that monologue makes even more sense???? Because based on what will said, mike makes el feel better for being different, right? So that's why he focuses on her powers and superheros even though it's completely ignorant of her arc this season, because he's supposed to be making her feel better about being different, right? So focusing on her powers that make her different would make her feel better, right?? Except that isn't El's feelings, IT'S WILL'S. so Mike's monologue is essentially a confession to will that got completely misdirected at el.

Gosh, poor Will. He just saw Michael Wheeler, the love of his life, was sad and will wanted to cheer him up so badly but I think he may have made things soooooo much more complicated for himself and mike and el.

Anyways it's late at night and confirmation of will being in gay love with mike is making me think many thoughts so I wanted to share one I had.

then when mike realizes that will lied about the painting and that his monologue about el was actually just will’s own feelings all along he’ll have his own realization of how his feelings are misdirected. his monologue to el made no sense because he was using will’s own feelings to power through it. using the duffers’ own words… he missed it.

hence why i need to give the duffer brothers praise for naming the episode THE PIGGYBACK.

my personal opinion: if this is all true (which, it's their words, so...), then that would require a mlvn breakup (so that will could finally tell mike). again, that's just my personal opinion.

I am, though, just genuinely excited to see them finally complete this arc with will and his arc with the supernatural and the upside upside. :)
