Hartving Soulmate!AU

Soulmate AU, in which the mates have each other's names on the skin, congenital or acquired, scars, moles, all sorts of spots. And in which Irving and Hartnell got each other's names in the same cruel way as in the canon, one was whipped and the other was cut by Hickey. Everyone survived, you just can't get your destiny’s name through such pain and die!))

John Irving–middle manager, devout Christian, climbing enthusiast and amateur painter–spends one Saturday a month volunteering with a program designed to help reformed criminals express themselves through art. Tom Hartnell, recently placed on probation, is recommended for the program by his therapist, who thinks it might help him process his grief over his brother’s death. Tom and John find themselves attracted to one another, but hold off due to the many hurdles they face, including their different backgrounds, John’s repressed sexuality, and Tom’s misplaced guilt. When a former associate of Tom’s stabs John in an attempted robbery, the two of them come to terms with just what’s important in life.
