It’s 2am, I’ve just finished the poppy war. Jesus Christ. I should write book reviews, I really should, but I never do, this books is forcing me to write one, because how else can I spread how this book is making me stare at a wall. I am afraid to get the second book, I want it, but I am not prepared to get the second one, because of how intense this book was especially the second half because my god.

I’ve picked up another one of my books to try and add a bit of lightness before I sleep, but I cannot read because I still stunned from the poppy war.

Venka, that whole segment with her was so heavy, everything about her, and the fact is that things like during war actually happens, the book is fiction, the characters are fake, but stuff like that happens. What I’m writing is to basic to what I mean, but whoever reads this understands

Nezha, I may be delusional but he survived a severed spine, I’m convinced he’s alive but will appear as a prisoner of war in the second book, possibly. That was too quick of a death, unless that was obviously the point.

Rin, all you wanted was to join a military academy, you’ve been through enough my dear.

Honestly this whole book was a ride, I need to read something more lighthearted but I go to the second book, it could be worse, or it could be the same and destroy me. I finished the book and said Jesus Christ over again because how else am I meant to react.

This is what writing is about. Congrats to R.F Kuang, you’ve killed me.

This is written at 2am, I may write more in the morning and edit but Jesus Christ this book shocked me, not because I expected it to be terrible, I just didn’t expect what came. Maybe I do need to do proper book reviews and this book was my villain origin story.

Live action Httyd thoughts

I do see that people do not want a live action film, but for me if it’s bad I will pretend it does not EXIST. The actual animated film was so amazing and so cinematic screwing with it should be a crime. But I want Httyd content but I’d rather the, make a series between the second and third film if they want more.

ALSO, this is a MAIN thing if in that scene where Stoick after disowning hiccup, takes a step back after realising what he’s done to his son, is not in the live action I will be so disappointed like that scene gives so much to his character leaving that out would be such a mistake.

I probs have more but I want more content so we wait

Shadow and bone season 2 - Small thoughts

I was very afraid with the things people were saying that I would be disappointed but I was far from it - I feel like many people will disagree and on some aspect’s I completely understand why - but I for one loved it

The ending in my opinion better than the book - I never liked the fact she lost her powers even though she didn’t want them in the first place - Mal becoming sturmhond bruñir of a strange direction but he did want freedom and this was the same through the book aswell he just wanted to a be free

The relationships - Alina and Zoya is so much better not as it was petty in the book - David and Genya much more love and in depth - but true they did do David dirty - Nikolai and Alina they did not disregard their friendship

As for the crows I do feel like the storyline is slightly rushed but I knew it wasn’t going to stick to the books - But in general it kind of messes with it - Like I enjoyed watching the speech to Rollins but if they do make a six of crows spin of how is that gonna go, same with that pox outbreak that Wylan made - Wylan and Jesper have no slow burn they are just right into it

The scenes with Kaz having a panic attack we’re done by Freddy so well and the flashback scenes had me by the throat

The actual ending with that Fjerdan woman was not expecting that - Was afraid she would kill everyone but obvs Alina did what she did and that sinister smile - Consequences of messing with Moroza creeping - Also the Nikolai merged with creature crumbs - Yes

Again I did love the show even if they did deviate from the plot of the crows - Let me articúlate - As a show it is amazing if you don’t consider the books or the changes - Like if no books existed and this was the show then amazing - I’ll probably think of more but I am waiting for everyone else to say their thoughts once everyone has finished and brought their thoughts

The 7 minute clip

It was incredibly minimal but it makes me so excited for the next season

Already we have reference to the bond Alina and the Darkling share

Very skippable detail but Alina mentioning Kaz - It just shows they spoke and did have some bonding on the ship

That last scene with Kaz after finding out about the crow club he did look scared and in the slide list it does state young Kaz and Jordie will appear possibly it goes into that point

But I cannot wait for season 2 tomorrow - I am going to binge the whole thing

Young Kaz within the series

- I believed we would get his backstory in one singular episode so the focus would be on it - But as Leigh did his backstory in the book it was if I remember subtle spread out between the chapters until it all comes together - For the readers we will know the story immediately but for those watching the series that would be different - Possibly Leigh wanted to keep the structure the same - Here

The actors played by Fflyn Edwards is in 5 episodes which one makes me scream and cry at the same time

This is for the actor who plays Jordie - It could possibly be through flashbacks but I’m curious to see if it will be similar to the books with Kaz fearing Jordies ghost - So in that trailer scene where Kaz falls in the water that could be metaphorical and Kaz could see Jordie - Leigh also said she felt like a monster after having a young boy on the set cry - This scene may be devastating

New crows clips - But mostly Wylan

I love that we are being fed crows content and the fact that this is the point where we meat Wylan - the actual area comes across as if it’s in a sewer as you look in the back where the steps come down it does give off that vibe

This point in particular, I love, he’s just so formal with it, a gang has come down to see them and he asks them for tea it’s so sweet and partially incredibly in character and I love that for him. Alongside Kaz’s reaction of rolling his eyes, I’m convinced Inej would know about Wylan being a marchers son at this point, but this clearly shows his wealthy characteristics and the fact that Nina smiles at him when he asks

In the clip they are wearing the same clothes as they were in the last episode, so I’m assuming this is where they go when they get off the ship. Kaz also checks his watch possibly as he knows the guy they were meant to give Alina too is waiting - Anyways I’m loving the content

Shadow and bone speculation - Sturmhound

This suggests we would get sturmhond as a character but from the trailer it’s only one person so unless the trailer character we see if sturmhound and Nikolai looks like a different character because in most of the trailer clips that’s a privateer and he is wearing the teal frock coat that is described in the books so it makes sense

Rusalye

Very minimal aspect from the trailer - but the second amplifier was not exactly what I thought it too look like

I thought as it was called a sea whip it would have a slimmer face this is more dinosaur in similarity and does that look like an arm - It’s in a cave so I do question how that fight will go as in the books it’s just in the open ocean and Mal was able to track it - With the stag it was tracking through the woods but this is in a cave in water - The firebird is alluded to in the poster but never attempted to be shown so I wonder if it will be a small allusion but possibly they will not show is this season - Yet people have been speculating with Zoya and Inej in that sand dune it is the fold being destroyed - So very much confusion as it seems anyones guess - I just thought the sea whip was cool and hadn’t seen anyone speaking off it

Nikolai!!!!

My friend the cat burglar - Where is he or is this privateer Nikolai - I can’t think of where this scene could be pinpointed as this is the first times he’s in this outfit, he’s also saying ‘You don’t know me very well’ and this could be speaking to anybody really - From the Clip many of his scenes are from the trailer possibly too many would give away too much information, same with the twins in the clip who have that brother/sister dynamic

I brightened the picture and I can’t stop laughing as Jesper - Obviously he’s mid word but still - Wylan’s look’s like he’s stopping someone from doing something - Not clear who - Also could not get rid of the wording

An yes I feel I’ve posted more times than I can count but I can’t help it’s I do English literature analysis is part of who I am

Wylan (Again)

The few second clip I loved if you haven’t already seen it, look on the shadow and bone instagram - I’m pretty sure it’s confirmed that Wylan made that flash bomb for Kaz and I love that he was in the background of the first show the whole time - Jesper does ask for a demo man and Kaz has one in the works and I assume Inej knew this

Also the voice over of Wylan why Kaz wanted him sounds like he’s answering interview questions and I’m curious as to who he’s speaking to - I also can’t wait to see his introduction like one of the clips they are in a basement of some kind - I just can’t wait

The reaction to stopping Kaz wanting to touch a vial as well, the interaction father Kaz and Son Wylan will end me

General in the tag line they do call him Wylan Hendricks instead of Van Eck so are they going to call him Hendricks in the show or was that just something I’m looking too much into

Im wondering if they’ll do these clips for Nikolai as well - They also would end me

More - If you stop the clip at the correct time - He’s sat in what looks like a coach next to Jesper - We are getting crumbs

Wylan

This scene again - Obviously brightened - People have picked up on the fact that Jesper is holding his arm in front of Wylan - But I do find it funny that Wylan is probably the most confused - The other crows probably but they’ve seen the darkling’s power’s in action - Wylan on the other hand hasn’t he’s just unfortunate to be there - I keep thinking this Nikolai with Kaz’s cane, that it like a bond right there an I’m all for it - I’m questioning where Inej is in this scene, likely with Zoya - Still this season seems chaotic but I like the full on fanfic it’s turned into

Shadow and bone - Season 2

I do keep seeing mixed feelings about the second season with people stating it’s not going to follow the actual plot of the books - they have seemed to merged the two last books which may be chaotic because there is a scene in the trailer where it looks like there is a shown down between the Darkling and Alina in the fold along with that scene with Zoya and Inej in the sand dune which someone speculated was the fold after it got destroyed

I know it’s not gonna follow the books but you know the books are still there - I am however excited for this season and if it doesn’t follow the plot I don’t mind because I will truly treat it as fanfiction because some of the interactions I enjoyed - Nikolai and Kaz I know they meet up anyway but I still love the idea - Inej and Zoya - Do kinda want more Mal and Kaz because there limited interaction in the first season was good - I don’t know if this will be the last season featuring shadow and bone and then they’ll move onto six of crows but I am excited for the season even if it doesn’t tie up to the books as much because like I said the books are still there

Seperate thing the fact that most people have been commenting on Kaz in the water I love the united front of people who love angst

Trailer thoughts - Shadow and Bone

The trailer was incredibly chaotic - I didn’t realise how much they would actually merge the two book’s together

And either the beginning was a dream sequence or the people were actually running away from the expansion

Also the crows joining together again - We saw Kaz and Nikolai and Inej and Zoya - Also a very short clip of Kaz falling into water, I’m sensing a backstory for him, he wasn’t young though

Not inherently sure if it is just me but certain moments of Alina’ power especially the white one - Not imagined

All in all I am excited for the series still I just don’t want it being too chaotic
