When I moved I had every intention of keeping up my business. I was excited to see what a refresh of my life would bring to my art. I figure I owe it to all of you to let you into my world since this page seems to be fading from my life as it takes a new direction: My world started with clay. I never felt I was good at drawing so I took all the drawing classes in college. A couple years after college I moved to Asheville where I wanted to get back into drawing cartoons like I always did as a kid. I dove into the 2 dimensional realm and learned quickly that in Asheville you can survive from selling your work (not just anyone can do it, I’ve listened to many people complain that they can’t sell their art so I was one of the lucky ones). I loved it. I loved learning the hustle and constantly creating things to see how well they sold or didn’t. I had a lot of flops. But I loved it all. I always said I would do it until it wasn’t fun anymore. Once my relationship ended and I took over full rent, I decided to move. So I pulled out all the stops for money because in Asheville, even if you work 45hrs a week at 1 job, it’s rough to survive. I began to realize I spent more time pressing buttons or packaging cards with all my free time than actually drawing. When I moved I thought I would get back into it and did all sorts of things to help motivate myself. Then I realized that almost everything I wanted to create I would think to myself, “I don’t want to draw it, I’d rather sculpt it.” So I bought some clay. Now I’m fixing up a kiln. Aside from the fact it’s not 2D, all the things I want to create are inappropriate for this page. I’m ready to get back into art without having to hold back. The times, they are a changin’. I was asked to contribute a piece of art to a friend’s project. If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with fish, but I don’t draw them.
