This classic 😌 His publicist Robin Baum even felt compelled to deny: “Jared was kidding.”

Comparing himself to Morrissey 😭 The “Unfortunately, I am not homosexual. In technical fact, I am humasexual. I am attracted to humans.” - MORRISSEY

Who falls in the same category of shrouded-mystery-sexuality as Karl Lagerfeld and Andy Warhol who Jared at certain points in time was enthusiastic to portray on screen, or still is, who knows. David Bowie fits the shoe, too.

And then adding “if people only knew the real stories…” 😭

As it was May 25, 2006, he was probably thinking of Colin’s upcoming 30th birthday, got a little swept away with nostalgia of a “time when the truth ran free.” (TSTM, Closer to the Edge)

Jared has a rather conservative, cautious standpoint in regard to living openly queer as a celebrity, mirroring the queer men he admires. He’s matter-of-fact here and calculating:

If I saw a man and I was attracted… I would probably follow through with it. Of course, that’s easy for me to say now. If it happened, maybe it would be a confusing and difficult thing, considering the world that we live in.

"I definitely don’t think a gay leading man would have the same opportunities as a straight leading man. I don’t think that. Not for a single second," Leto said. "I don’t know if that’s offensive or not, but that’s my thought right now. It shouldn’t be that way. I don’t think you’ll have as many opportunities. And I think you could say the same for minorities. What a word, minority. Have we taken that word off the list yet? ‘Cause it should be. Anyway, no, I think that this is still a very conservative business."

And yes, I do believe Alexis Arquette, especially when she doubled down about her tête-à-tête with Jared in 2015, “I was dressed as a man when it went down. I was trying to give some hope for the gay men out there! But the idea that the dude could be bisexual — whoa, that’s just too much for people to handle.” It’s absolutely in the realm of possibility. After all she likened his genital to a “praetorian guard’s helmet” (lol), which is a kind of helmet that looks suspiciously like the prop helmet Jared sneaked away from the Alexander set in 2004 and kept on display in his former house for the longest time. True story. Jared also never denied it, he even presented a Golden Globe and an Oscar to Alexis’ sister Patricia Arquette that year, as if those remarks didn’t really bother him at all. No regrets, I guess.

Hmm, yes, believable, because this is how he envisioned it:

The recent Thailand 🥸 mystery reminded me of this story here about Colin’s masked skiing vacation.

Also I'm glad you saw that post of his recent trip to Krabi, why he feels the need to revisit every 10 years speaks volumes, 'some things change= people they come, people they go' ' others never do= a beautiful lie it never gets old' he'll never not love his beautiful lie person and anyone with common sense knows exactly who that is, also I noticed the added emoji 🥸 some of Google suggests it means the following- What 🥸 Means:

The disguised face is often used as a warning that someone is trying to either hide something from you or someone else, or that they are lying and pretending to be someone they aren't (even if only by not showing their full true self. .....🤭 true!

I mean it looks like Colin, with the mustache and those brows and Colin being dependent on glasses when off camera. Yet Colin wasn't the one he was spending his time with at the resort. From what I've seen, it's been 20/80 in favor of Ersatzcolin and some occasions for TTT to be his arm candy. He left her behind and spent New Year's with Ersatzcolin in Tokyo. Which is all so amusing, somehow.

I go with the disguise and hide meaning. He's still pretending to be someone who he really is not, which is like the inverted meaning of The Kill. 🥸

It's absolutely an easy one in terms of his heart I think 💔 I always find myself intrigued by the songs, they all refer to the same person, 'Hurricane' I feel is overlooked as a FL song because some of those lyrics are just blatantly obvious, how every line in the verses start with 'no matter' (remember C's tattoo 'love no matter') 'how many nights that you'd lie wide awake to the sound of the poison rain' ( C is a chronic insomniac, he often references his troubles to fall and stay asleep also that's a clear reference to where the streets have no name, their song 😭) but also didn't Col experience that awful Hurricane in Miami before he got sober, it all connects. Do you have a favorite FL song?

Excellent points! I share your feelings about Hurricane! The "no matter" part - that's a good observation. Absolutely agree with the insomnia reference and the WTSHNN link! Colin talked so often of his insomnia and loneliness. I wonder if "poison rain" could also be a drug reference? Then the mention of "breathing" or not being able to breathe; sold secrets, selling and buying as a theme, making it literally sound as if there are financial transactions at play -> Modern Myth, and the line "to buy the truth and sell a lie". Maybe there's a kind of development between "selling a lie" and "selling secrets"?

J said he wrote Hurricane at the end of 2007 in Berlin. Which would be two years post C's OD and first rehab. Could this song deal with the whole of 2005 when Colin started to spiral during the shooting of Miami Vice? He lived in the town from April on. I think Jared was in Florida most of the year too. Acting in "Lonely Hearts Killers" with Salma Hayek and playing concerts in Florida. I suspect they spend time together there until they didn't... Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita and other tropical storms that year impeded the production of the movie and Colin was in the midst of it, losing himself. I think some of TSTM's Hurricane video aesthetic mirrors the style of Miami Vice, the movie, maybe even the synth soundtrack, but maybe that's just me.

Also, please, the Hurricane metaphor, there is nothing in the band's or J's biography to warrant such a title if not... I think it stands for events in their personal lives that had the force and effects a Hurricane would and since the lyrics are fairly blunt and emotional it was about a relationship; it stands for a certain period and Katrina and the Hurricane season of 2005 was the overshadowing natural disaster of the 2000s in the US; the movie Miami Vice and this weather period are intrinsically interwoven; and yes, probably it refers to a person with a stormy personality, too.

edit: because I remember it now, Colin contributed to Total Recall (2012) by learning to play the piano. In the movie there’s a scene where his character Hauser plays The Tempest by Beethoven and thus discovers the key - a literal piano key - to his identity, there’s a recording hidden inside or something. In the Hurricane video from 2010 each band member discovers a key to something, truth or whatever, too. Not that these things are connected, but 😂

A favorite.... oh my, there are so many. There used to be these unreleased songs "Greatest story never told" and "Cross the line" which I like because they're so bluntly and heartfelt FL and pick up the themes of Modern Myth. Also "Some other son/The believer". "Dangerous Night" I like for the same reason because it can't get any more obviously FL and it's a decent pop tune. Recently I've grown fond of "Live like a dream" because it has all, the themes and the vibes and the U2-hymn quality, it sounds like pure energetic Alexander nostalgia. And, "Great Wide Open". Well, "Up in the air" (mostly because I saw its first rendition live during a vyrt or lab or something when he was still in full Rayon mode and it was breathtaking because it seemed so real and vulnerable, mostly because he was so frail; I think it was an acoustic version and slightly different lyrics, not sure; I haven't saved it, the album version was very different and overproduced, but this "You were the love of my life, darkness the light" - uhm 👀) and "Seasons", too.

You sent me a link to a 2018 radio interview where Jared mentioned Colin just like that. As if it were normal. And we all know it is NOT normal.

I know this interview. Recently someone sent me the link to it, to what I call the "That's an easy one" - interview and I mildly freaked out. Discussed it here:

I haven't yet processed the fact he just said the name 😂 Yet, in 2021 he was weird again not mentioning him in an interview - which was the "Not my hair but Alexander's hair"- interview - about the movie. He called Colin Alexander instead of, well, Colin. Although the problems he talks of only popped up because of the actor being black Irish and not blond, so he looked slightly like an 80ies glam metal singer with his hairdo and extensions, something Alexander's actor who shall not be named once called "low hanging fruit" to pick on the movie. Jared took the opportunity right there. "Not my hair, but Alexander's hair" - give me a break. Totally normal.

I looked up the last time Colin mentioned Jared, in the "Jared Leto did okay" — interview from 2013 and thought about Colin's answer. He repeated the name and agreed with the interviewer that "Jared's done great, yeah absolutely yeah absolutely". I thought about how he didn't name him by first and last name, as he did Elliot Cowan and Anthony Hopkins afterward, whom he said he had seen through the years. This "Jared" actually sounds like someone who was close enough to grant him the status of first name only acquaintance and who's still—this interview takes place 9/10 years after the movie—present in his life. It's Jared; we don't need to give him a last name in this conversation because I have just texted him this morning. That's what it sounds like. So this was December 2013. In January 2014, we had the Golden Globes and Colin's restrained reaction to Jared's win on camera. In April, Jared had his #ThinkingAboutYou throwback moment in Krabi, Thailand. And in July Colin shot his Intenso fragrance clip for Dolce and Gabbana on Stromboli, Italy, and stayed in Naples and Capri after that. He loved it so much he still gushed about Stromboli in 2022, not unlike he did with Morocco. He would evoke his memories of Marrakech a lot during his interviews for Intenso, if I remember correctly. Funny enough Jared cruised the Tyrrhenian Sea, too. Corsica, Ponza, Capri, visiting the same places as Colin, just a week apart. They almost met... I mean, theoretically they could've… never mind. In this reality they have severed all ties ages ago, right?

Oh, old quote hinting at Colin's superstition and kind of magical thinking. Actually what he describes haunts me with this ship for decades now. I feel they both have been extremely in synch, they could hear the other think.

Actually, in 2014, when Jared roamed the Mediterranean on a yacht — Capri, Ponza, Chloe Bartoli's quasi-home Corsica — Colin was there, too. He was shooting a clip for Dolce and Gabbana on the island of Stromboli. He later, in 2022 even, talked about how much he'd enjoyed his stay on the island and actually spent some more time there and in Naples. Once again, Farrell and Leto were coincidentally finding themselves in the same part of the earth at the same time. What were the chances that year?

Depending on which old news source you trust, he fell down hotel stairs or from a table while dancing or jumped from a second story balcony, shitfaced in every scenario, thereby doing to himself what you can see in the picture and also jeopardizing the movie shoot, just a few days before it was to end. But he pushed through anyway and delivered some cool scenes. The photo shows him at Maya beach, the “secret beach” that Jared chose to post too ten years later. Colin also stayed in Rai Leh/Railay at a resort, where, ten years later, Jared chooses to make a sunset selfie and an intimate dedication. Such nice coincidences.

Was this the last great episode of FL signalling?

From what I remember, a few months later his yachting era would kick off in Capri with teenie future ex-girlfriend VK and CB and all those other people, giant ego boost included. And Colin? As was to be expected after the Golden Globes weirdness between them and after the release of an album (LLF+D) that was a breakup album with not so nice things said about a lyrical you that could’ve easily fit CF’s me, the cold era commenced.

Who had on their bingo card that Jared Leto would spend the last days of 2024 in Thailand. Not only in Thailand, but in Krabi. Not only Krabi but at Railay Beach, at the Rayavadee resort, the place Colin Farrell stayed at right after the shooting of Alexander had ended in 2004? Of all places he wound up there... again. Not on my card, at least.

Below are impressions from his much more publicized vacay that stretched over Christmas and his 53rd birthday. Just New Year's Eve he apparently jetted off to Tokyo.

Jared shared his Thailand activities (diving, climbing, sunset watching) and grown wealth extensively on Instagram and Snapchat. He chose two songs of his own (of course) as soundtrack. Life is Beautiful on Instagram, and Great Wide Open (which has all the known symptoms of a Farrelleto song) on Snapchat.

… and then treats us to a sunset view across an exclusive beautiful beach, which is at a different resort in Phuket now. 

This land “of blood and dreams” where an “I” and a “you” lived their “wildest dreams”—it really looks like Mr. Leto gave us a personal 20th anniversary of Alexander after all. Why, thank you for that! There was nothing all year—no reminiscence, no word from Colin, not even from Oliver Stone. Until these posts.

You can't look at them and not make a connection to Alexander; even without an explicit mention of the movie, it's all over the messaging. The choice of location, Jared giving his sternest Hephaistion gaze like it's 2004, or 2014, for that matter, the philosophical reflection…

Funny enough, I realized something when I was making this post. Jared has edited the caption. Some time after December 21, the phrase “Some things change, others never do” was extended with an 🥸 emoji.

Come on! 😅 What is that supposed to mean? Why would someone take time to do that? 

I'm spitballing here and assume, yes, this was deliberate. The caption expresses a specific sentiment in abstract terms about passing time and “things” that aren't affected by it. The curious addition of 🥸 was made to hint at what it is that he thinks is “never” changing. It's a trivial observation that some things change and others don't, insofar as his vacation destination is concerned or anything else on this planet, but the “never” does some heavy lifting here. Maybe it's kept opaque because he wants to communicate something different altogether. It pertains to the timeframe of “2004, 2014, and now 2024”. Something hasn't changed since his first time in Thailand, and he's certain it “never” changes. “Things” can mean a lot. 

And I listen, and I think everyone with a certain sensibility here will get it too. To quote an sometimes 🥸-looking-actor circa 2004 concerning the relationship between Alexander and Hephaistion in the movie:

You'll probably get the fucking vibe unless you're blind and deaf.

I don't think we are, are we, blind and deaf? The vibe is vibing.

Since Kelly he's successfully kept his dates under the radar, which is several years now. That relationship too must've been over long before he announced it in 2023. But I guess award campaigning and such officially prolonged it for a while.
