A few days ago I nearly broke into tears because of a 2p!lietpol comic @fan-arter drew and posted on her deviantart profile. So here I am. I AM SO PREDICTABLE.

When he sees his own reflection into the bathroom mirror, some details jump to his bleary, tired eyes: his thin neck, white with bandages; his flushed cheeks, marked with the wrinkles of pillows and blankets; his hair, a total mess. Poland huffs, his breath tingling a single, blonde lock in front of his mouth. His bangs cover his left eye. It is a curtain, a sort of shield: he likes to hide himself behind his fringe, he makes him feel better, far from the others’ attentive, cruel look. But he is alone, now, and he feels safe. He looks down to the bunch of hairpins next to the sink and he picks a simple barrette, running his slim fingers through his hair before he fixes the cowlick, right against his temple. His eyes shine, green and crystal clear, his cheeks pink with embarassment: he feels fragile, vulnerable, even if he is in his bathroom, in his house and city, and Lithuania waits for him out of the room - Poland threw him in the corridor minutes earlier, even if he was still brushing his teeth, his thin lips curled in an irritated pout and cheek stained with blue toothpaste. He huffs, no locks tickling his nose now. He is about to turn the tap on when he hears the door opening behind him. “Seriously, are you a fucking woman? You are sitting here too long!” snarls Lithuania, mouth and hand tight around the pink toothbrush - his voice is muffled, white foam at the corners of his lips. Poland immediately turns to face him, just to yell him to get the hell out, but he soon realizes that his hair is still pinned, his flushed face clearly visible. Lithuania notices it, because he stops mid way, his right hand on the doorknob, the other one still on the toothbrush. Poland feels hot and awkward and he really, really would like to run and hide, right now. He feels naked and horrible. But Lithuania seems to think differently. He slowly pulls the toothbrush out of his mouth, a smudge of nearly dried toothpaste crosses his chin. “You look pretty” he bluntly states with a kind smile, looking at him like he is truly beautiful: that heart-warming smile is so handsome and embarassing that Poland literally punches him. His cheeks are red as tomatoes. “I TOLD YOU NOT TO ENTER!” he shouts, hair spilling from the bobby pin and brushing his cheekbones.

Funny how people whine about “whitewashing” but nobody beats an eyelash if it is done the other way around by drawing/representing canonically light skinned characters as dark even though it’s the same goddamn thing of changing someone’s ethnicity.

Not to mention that nowadays some characters who already have a brown skin also get represented as black by fans because a brown skin seems to not be “PC enough anymore”.
