Felt like sharing one of the best comments I've ever received. This was about my Jack and Phryne video. Forever humbled by people who take the time out of their day to write such wonderful things. I love fandom.

Warm and Kind
"I don't know why it is that I find it so very difficult just being here, on this Earth, but I can say with absolute certainty that you have made it much, much better. You make the world beautiful. And warm and kind."
Benedict Cumberbatch as Louis Wain
IT IS HERE. Boy, am I glad to share this video with you today, peeps! I wanted to edit a tribute to Ted and Rebecca ever since it ended over a year ago. And one day, it clicked. That day, I was watching The Electrical Life of Louis Wain.
This movie emotionally wrecked me. It is incredibly sad. It’s also one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema I have ever seen. It had a very peculiar mixture of joy and sorrow. The tone of this video is therefore defined by these two qualities.
I suppose it explores the impact Ted and Rebecca had on each other’s lives. Starting with recognising a kindred spirit in the shared grief and pain caused by their divorce. Rebecca also had a sixth sense regarding Ted’s shaky mental health and the edit shows how much she helped him get through it in small but meaningful ways. The monologue I used by the ever so talented Benedict Cumberbatch perfectly illustrates that.
Louis’ speech to his wife could be Ted addressing Rebecca, but in truth it works just as well the other way around. Hence why I made sure that it was relevant both ways. Anyone having paid particular attention to these two will know how much these words ring true.
The music is also taken from the movie. Isn’t it just enchanting? It strikes a chord in me. It makes me tear up in a way that is undeniable, if hard to explain.
I really hope you will like this edit. I was very moved making it and I hope to move you, too.
Special shoutout to my good tumblr friend @movrings! Oh, the meltdowns we shared hehe. This is my little thank you after having had my own shoutout from her on my birthday last year. Lots of love!

Hello my loves! 'Tis I, Mathilde. I am very very excited about this next project of mine currently cooking. A tribute, in all its beauty and sorrow, to the relationship between Ted and Rebecca from the show Ted Lasso. I named it Warm and Kind. Subject to change but for now I like it. I am using a monologue from the movie "The Electrical Life of Louis Wain" as a backdrop to describe what I see as a singularly profound connection. This one makes me emotional, guys. In the realm of tear-jerker videos this one is a doozy, as Ted would probably put it. A stark contrast to the last edit I made, which was all good vibes and sunshine. But I could not be prouder and happier with the result so far. I cannot wait to share it with you all.

To celebrate the success of my ACGAS fanvid, a little glimpse of what the video editor's life can be.
When the sound ot the smoking pipe clicking on the teeth is undermined by the dialogue of another character so you have to make do with using the sound effect from another scene.... YEP. That happened. Thank you, Jess.

How do you get rid of background noise on your videos? WHICH, might I add, are amazing and so well edited!
Thank you ever so much! Excellent question. Which I only took years to respond to. LOL
The professional editors often put the lines of dialogues on the central track of a 5.1 sound mixing, meaning surround. This is designed for home cinemas, and is mostly the norm, nowadays. 5.1 means 6 different tracks to give the illusion of the sound coming from all directions. I think it goes as high as 7.1 now. I assume 8 tracks? All I must do is isolate that central track and remove the 5 others, which have the music on them. Premiere Pro has that as a pre-setting for me and does it automatically when I import any episode of a show I edit on. And magically, the music disappears and only the lines of dialogue can be heard. Which always amazes me even after all this time.
Some shows are only mixed in 2.0, meaning only two tracks, one left one right, for a stereo system. That always means the music is blended completely with the lines of dialogue, from my experience. When that’s the case, I can use various filters on Adobe Audition which isolates the dialogue, but that’s never very neat. I have to favour scenes which have originally been edited without music if possible. All Creatures Great and Small and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries are two shows I’ve edited on which had this issue, for instance.
Sherlock is blissfully edited in 5.1, as well as Doctor Who, Ugly Betty, Anne with an E, and Ted Lasso, from what comes to mind and I have previously edited about.
Hope that helps and thank you for the question! <3

What software do you use for you videos? You do a beautiful job!
Oh my word. I forgot that I had received this. My deepest apologies. Thank you ever so much! What a lovely thing to say!I’ve used several over the years but now I swear by Premiere Pro, from the Adobe Suite. Audition is also useful to me so I can clean up lines of dialogue if required. And After Effects for titles. I used to use Final Cut on Mac. My first ever software was Windows Movie Maker LOL
Many thanks for the question! <3
Do not hesitate to ask if anyone has other queries :D

The Remarkable Mrs. Hall | Siefried x Audrey
also published on ao3 here
More info under the cut.
Here it is folks! I could not wait to share this video with you all. A tribute to the remarkable relationship from this gem of a show. It was such a joy to work on this and revisit all the scenes that these two shared.
I used the music from the Pixar movie UP. Yep. THAT music. From the most beautiful and heartbreaking opening scene in cinema history. As ever, I didn't use a song with lyrics, just dialogues from the original material. The music is called "Married Life" because let’s be real, the only thing missing to make it official between these two is the signed paperwork. I really hope series 5 is the one! Siegfried needs to go on one knee and pop the question with his puppy eyes of his.
Please let me know what you think!! Feel free to share wherever you think people will enjoy it 💛

My lovelies, I am still alive and kicking!! No promises but I have no less than three videos currently in progress. Hopefully they will be published over the summer if all goes to plan.
A Sherlolly/Jane Eyre mashup! Yes, that one!! Mentioned many moons ago but that is well under way! Using the music from a show Louise Brealey appeared in: A Discovery of Witches. A brilliant show that everyone should watch.
A Siegfried/Audrey tribute. The music has been chosen (but keeping it a secret because it would be giving too much away) and I am enjoying every second I’ve figured out so far. They are such a delight.
A Ted/Rebecca tribute. Combined with another one of Cumberbatch’s finest. I found that a scene from The Electrical Life of Louis Wain captured the essence of who Ted and Rebecca are to each other very nicely. I can’t change what the show did, but I can honour the love that these two shared.
Stay tuned! 💛

FANVIDS MASTERPOST by Mathilde with an E Part 1/-
I have been an amateur editor since the early 2010s. Although I cannot dedicate as much time as I would like to the art form, I adore doing it. This is my own way to tell stories. I rarely use songs. Only music and dialogues from the show or film the video is about. Please give some of these a watch if you like to reminisce about your favourite fandoms 💛
