ok so obvi major critique of shameless/gallagher family is no one pays attention to ian (arguably same statement could be made abt carl but hes not gay so y wld fandom care) which is what leads him to dangerous situations. i cant really connect these thoughts but i believe the direction they were going for in s1 was lip as the caring, fun older brother, whereas fiona had to be the more responsible mother figure (she states multiple times shes not their mum. girl.) this is all to say lip cares almost too much abt ian. hes always in his business, hes always taking him places. id have to rewatch but im fairly sure at least in s4 he and debbie are the ones most focused on getting him to come home (on that note i can think of multiple instances in s1 where debbie is the only one to ask where ian is). just the image as fiona as the "head" of the gallagher family portrays the image that the "family" doesn't acknowledge ian wait did i accidentally write fiona hate. y am i writing this abt a series thats like 10 years old idk. anyway. the gallaghers obviously care abt ian as much as they care abt anyone else in the family, maybe even more so. says girl who was watched too many tiktok takes.
