casually falls asleep on.

day or night never became a constant up in space ;   they had no sun to rely on,   their bodies only grew weary  after a span of hours.  each took a little nap and slept however long they pleased and that is what he did.   with his back against the leather couch,  he found temporary solace  with the quietness of the ship,   ed playing their game and fixed on the screen.  

with some time passing,  he’s not conscious enough to feel ed crawling on the couch,  yawning,  stretching out their arms.  he woke with ed  collapsing onto his lap,  laying supine.  ed is surprisingly heavier than he would have thought when asleep.  

“  rgh,  ed…  “   comes out as a low,  irritated grumble,  voice rugged as he would scoot over but is already at the end of the couch.  he is too tired,  and ed is fast asleep ;   he does not think of pushing her off   (  even if his threats are usually just all they are :  threats.  )    so he eventually lets ed’s soft snores fill the space they occupy.  sleep is a hard temptress to ignore and he succumbs to it once again, as ed did.

“  oh,  yeah.  “    ‘course they didn’t gain one woolong that device was originally worth due to its computer-status.  almost not worth the effort,  though they gained another crew member  who forcibly brought the ship back to her.  

a pinky absently strays up to scratch at his ear as he stares up,  blank eyes dragging around in slow circles,  following the blades of the fan.    light covers his face only to be eclipsed by the shadow of ed.    he looks past her the moment she’s hovering over him to the moment she’s at his side,  shoving him with her head.    “  not now,  ed —  “    but she is persistent  ;   and god knows how many times she’s helped them out with their hunts.   spike is not a considerate and kind-hearted man,  never claims himself to be,  but he turns his head to the chessboard,  staring at the pieces.  

      “heheh, it’s mpu’s turn! let’s see what it does!”  she’s too excited for a simple game of chess, and the win slash loss ratio was pretty even between them both. to ed, she’s anxious to get the other bebop members involved ( in simple, small activities such as this ), even if they were always busy with other things. with another beat passing, it seems mpu went its turn with stealing one of ed’s rooks that was strategically placed to attempt to capture the white knight.  “oooooo~h! what are you going to do?!” she rests her chin upon spike’s shoulder, absolutely attentive with lips parted in a small ‘o’.  “rook at b5, spike!”  and now her nonsense was just repeating the move that mpu had done, just in case spike didn’t see.

      fingers stilled, automatically seeming to perk up ( eyes lit up and cheeks aglow ) at the mere mention of them doing ed’s in return. bouncing upon her legs, her signature grin was wide.  “yes, please, yes, please! i want it red--- like edward’s hair!”

literally stares at in awe. "pretty... a goddess!"

                   oh – how sweet they are ! it makes her cosmic heart SWELL and she finds that a smile easily coats her lips, check to freckled cheek. ( what an adorable human being !! ) she finds it a bit embarrassing to be consider that of a GOD, gentle laughter escaping from within her being. ❛❛ i - i’m anything but - but a goddess — but t - thank you ! thank y - you very m - much ! ❞

      now ed is sitting up, slipping those goggles back on and getting into spike’s personal space. typical ed.  “you mean you don’t remember~?”  she doesn’t sound the least bit disappointed, giggling as she moved a knight piece to take mpu’s white queen using her toes to tap away the commands.  “mpu is ed’s friend; computer friend! doodling on earth with masterpieces.”  she had lowered her voice for the last word as if she was telling a scary story, which would have had been scary if the rumors of a hacker wasn’t behind the satellites. 

       then she suddenly crawls next to spike, scooching him over with their head and a wide grin.  “c’mon, you try! you try!”

he’s his hand at a few board games predating the last century but ed’s skill on strategy is something else ;   a single swipe across the board and they could win easy.  but he’s too exhausted to appear completely invested   (  only one notch curious with the rise of a brow.   )

“   mpu…  who ?   “       though he doesn’t meander off into the chambers of the ship and drift into his own personal pastimes. instead,   he finds a seat on one of the couches right beside ed’s spot on the floor.

"Ed! What'd ya do with my toothpaste?"

       putting up a clueless front, there is an obvious discarded toothpaste tube beside tomato ( what’s its been used for, is still up for debate ), her fingers idly tapping away upon her computer.  “e~d? ed doesn’t know what you’re talking about! nope! call back later! beeeeeeep!”

       and there it is, her wide grin to follow spike’s halted question. she falls back, foot in the air as she waves it like an extra hand.  “just playing chess with mpu! he’s really good! really good! a magician!”
