Noah’s arm was heavy around your waist, his fingers tracing absentminded circles on your skin. His heartbeat was steady beneath your ear, the rise and fall of his chest lulling you into that hazy space between sleep and wakefulness.

You sighed softly, nuzzling closer. “Morning.”

His lips pressed against the top of your head, lingering. “Morning,” he murmured, his voice low and scratchy with sleep.

For a while, you just laid there, wrapped up in quiet, in each other.

“I don’t want to get up,” you admitted.

He chuckled, tightening his hold. “Then don’t.”

You smiled against his skin, but reality crept in slowly, reminding you of the hours ahead. “Sarah texted me last night,” you said carefully.

“Mmm.” His fingers brushed up your spine, slow and lazy. “About?”

You swallowed, pressing your palm against his chest. “I have to walk with Rafe.”

You bit back a grin, dragging your fingers down his jaw. “Yeah, I guess.”

FUN FACT jude is always on the lookout for animals, insects, or “cool stuff” he can bring home. his room is a strange collection of rocks, sticks, and things he’s convinced have “scientific value.” he’s constantly trying to turn the living room into his personal science lab.

FAMILY DYNAMICS

CLEO AND POPE’S FAMILY is the epitome of balance. there’s an understanding that there’s a time for structure and a time for fun. for example, pope will insist that the kids finish their homework before they can play outside, but cleo will make sure that there’s time for outdoor play and free expression afterward.

THERE’S ALSO A FAIR AMOUNT of humor in the family—both cleo and pope have their quirks and moments of goofy behavior that keep the kids laughing, even if they try to maintain some semblance of discipline.

FAMILY BONDING IS CRUCIAL for cleo and pope, and they often find ways to incorporate educational activities or family discussions into their daily routines. they believe that every moment—whether it's a family dinner or an afternoon walk—can be used to teach important lessons about life, respect, and the world around them.

WHILE CLEO AND POPE do their best to maintain a calm, loving household, the rest of the families—especially rafe, jj, and ava—bring in a level of unpredictability and chaos.

CLEO IS USUALLY THE ONE who keeps the peace when things get out of hand. she’s often the one who will talk to rafe when he’s been too much of a “bad influence” on the kids or when things get too chaotic with the other families. cleo has a special way of getting people to listen without being confrontational, often leading to her smoothing things over after rafe has, shall we say, added a little too much excitement to the family gathering.

POPE: serious "Okay, so if I buy Boardwalk and then mortgage this property, I should—"

CLEO: leaning back, sipping tea "Pope. It’s just a game."

POPE: "No. It’s strategy."

ZARA: rolling her eyes "This is why nobody wants to play board games with you, Dad."

JUDE: slyly sliding a few extra Monopoly dollars to himself when no one is looking"Yeah, Dad. It’s just about having fun."

[Cleo notices Jude’s sneaky move but doesn’t say anything, just smirks.]

POPE: ignoring them, focused on his plan "Alright, I’m about to make the best trade of the game—"

ZARA: interrupting, looking at Jude "Did you just steal from the bank?"

JUDE: grinning, trying to act innocent "What? Noooo…"

POPE: snaps his head toward Jude, looking scandalized "Wait—YOU CHEATED?"

JUDE: shrugs "Life isn’t fair, Dad. Just preparing for the real world."

[Cleo bursts out laughing, while Pope looks horrified, and Zara shakes her head in disappointment.]

JUDE: "Sometimes I feel like I was born into the wrong family. They’re all so serious. Dad’s always talking about school, Zara acts like she’s twenty-five, and Mom somehow just knows when I’m up to something." pauses, smirks “Which, honestly, is impressive."

RELATIONSHIP WITH HER DAD lily is a daddy’s girl. she adores her dad and is the first one to jump into whatever wild adventure john b suggests. she might not always fully understand the consequences of his actions, but she’s eager to be his sidekick and joins him on all of his impromptu ideas. she’s often the one pulling him away from risky situations by pointing out the safety hazards in the way only a nine-year-old can.
