Sent into the woods by his dominus to hunt for the source of grace-sickness, Dean encounters a little god who has recently come into being. Teaser: Dean sighs. He'd been hoping that his dominus sent him here for nothing, hoping that the little girl in the outpost had some common ague instead of grace sickness. His hope dwindles as the bird fails every test the rabbit had passed: faint crackling like fire as the limbs are shifted and pulled; glittering blood, sheened purple; the pressing stillness in his mind when Dean sifts through feathers to touch bare skin. Dean tosses the bird down and scowls as he resets the snare. A bird doesn't narrow the range at all; it could've been tainted nearby, or it could've flown all the way in from the northern wastes, where Michael and Lucifer are waging war and spilling grace like thunderstorms. Maybe the bird flew over a vegetable garden, scat tilled into the soil and taken up by a turnip or carrot which was boiled into the little girl's stew. Dean could be chasing nothing out here--or the woods could be full of blue-eyed little gods, biding their time. Angels, he reminds himself. Romans refuse to call them gods.

Cas asks him what he understood and Sam tells him Dean is in love with him. From there, nothing is stopping Cas anymore.

This feels tres 2002 to me.

hii! if we already submitted the final draft form a little early but made major tweaks by now (raised the wordcount by 1.5k for example) is it okay or is there some way to edit the final draft form?

Hiya! It's not necessary to update the final draft, since you are free to make as many tweaks and edits as you want right up until you post (and of course you can sneak in some typo fixes after!) However, we did change the settings on the form to allow edits. This way, you can keep editing the metadata and get an updated record of that. (Google forms doesn't let uploaded files be edited for some reason.) Just make sure your final wordcount is under 5k by posting day, 5 May!

Hello! In my attempts to submit the final draft, Google has absolutely decided that anything I put in the summary section is WRONG and A CRIME, and therefore, I AM NOT ALLOWED to submit. Don't know how to fix this... for sure, I am not over the character limit :/ What can I do, oh great lords above??

HELLO Apologies for being wrongfully convicted of google form crimes, I looked at our settings and we got the max and min mixed up. So instead of a 1250 character limit, it wanted at least 1250 characters. I've fixed that now, so you should be able to submit with no issues.

hiii quick question: does the fic we write have to match the rough draft we submitted, so long as we fall within the word constraints and have a complete fic by the deadline? (i had rushed the rd because the timing was bad for me and i'm writing my actual one today now that i have a day off and they are wildly different fics 🫣)

Hiya! The rough draft deadline was mostly to provide some motivation for people who need that sort of thing. Art evolves sometimes! Since there wasn't a claims process (and thus no partner making decisions based on the rough draft) then there's no reason your primordial amoeba of a rough draft can't evolve into a glorious winged vertebrate.
