Men, women, and slugs, welcome to the Deceptive-Oasis, a hot off the press side deal that emerged from the most cringe inducing depths of hyperfixation known to man.

This blog is focused on the resurgence of the IHNMAIMS Fandom and the content and analysis I have cooked up for this incredibly written short story and its accompanying media.

As Fictive of a self insert character whose been around the block more than once my art and writing focuses on gaining catharsis through turning my memories into a tangible form.

Other traumagenic systems are welcome here, we just ask people keep it respectful.

Something that grinds my gears now that IHNMAIMS made its rightfully deserved comeback to the Fandom community is how people get up in arms and try to rebuke those who are 'sexualizing' AM.

Like, buddy, hate to break it to you, but AM is not saying all that off the cuff shit ironically.

AM is quite literally the posterboy for voyeurism, that genocidal toaster is Cannonically DTF and its not even subtextual.

You can't claim a love of toxic yaoi if you ain't rocking with a dynamic where one is trapped in an a sisyphean hellscape and the other is turning bitches into slugs.

Climbing back up on my soapbox, I have more to say about the discourse around IHNMAIMS and the Fandom surrounding it

As you probably already know, there seems to be a divide in how the greater Fandom believes you should treat the source material.

With the newer generation seeming to abide by all the creative conventions Fandom is known for. While others, typically those who enjoyed the story long before it blew up again, have the opinion that it should be treated under a more serious lense, and that by generating fanart and writing they're inherently downplaying the message of the story.

I'm in no way bashing either side, as I really don't believe there's a right way to interpret IHNMAIMS. The overarching themes and message are pretty solid. Yet the fact that we get very few specifics into the details of these characters and this world in the original 11 page short story leaves a lot of room for speculation.

It seems that many people insist that you have to pick one side or another and completely denounce everyone who doesn't align with your personal views, but I think it's rather asinine because, well-

You can have both.

Nuance seems to be a word people aren't exactly grasping well these days, and just because an artist explores 'what ifs' and cannon complimentary instead of cannon compliant character tropes, that doesn't mean they didn't understand the themes or take anything away from the story itself.

On the flipside, people who take the story purely at face value for the message it has aren't typically doing so just for the sake of putting down those who don't share that opinion.

I could talk about this in depth for hours, but I really think it's just a matter of people needing to live and let live.

Nobody's being hurt in this situation, or at least they shouldn't be, I don't think how an individual treats IHNMAIMS is a reflection of their core values, just like with any other piece of media.

I think people should enjoy it for what it is and spend less time turning it into an argument about morality, because it's pretty ironic when you consider the themes of the original story, at least in my opinion.

P.S-

I'm not saying "It's not that deep", it is that deep, but that depth shouldn't be used to gatekeep people from a genuinely well written piece of media.

if you roadblock newcomers then whos going to get the message? Media literacy is on a decline it seems, partially due to the attitude of 'you wouldn't understand it', leading people to avoid engaging with meaningful works of media.

You know, I'm extremely happy that 'I have no mouth, and I must scream' is gaining traction again, because it reminded us of the absolutely bonkers fixation we had on it as a short story back in middle/high school-

But it also brought to our attention that, we know absolutely jack shit about the game.

And trying to get into the game adaptation is, weird, if only because we think the supposed 'good ending' routes, seem to be shoehorned in and really only exist to give the game itself a replayability factor.

Because let's be honest, the story isn't something that lends itself well to there being a positive outcome for any of the characters.

Yet at the same time, I'm super interested in the concept the game presented with the, Id, Ego, and Superego, clearly representing other mastercomputer circuits.

While I'm not exactly vibing with there being a random moon colony of people.

I think that the potential of other artificial intelligence systems like AM existing, somewhere out there in the wreckage of the stories world, just creeping around in the ashes of society, could make for an even deeper layer of off the wall existential horror.

AMs character motivation lies pretty solidly in the fact that he sees himself as slighted from the human experience despite giving the ability to think as any man could.

So having others like him out there who suffer that same existence and possibly cope in drastically varying ways...

Could open up a floodgate of interpersonal drama that my baby fanfic writer brain is just, rotating in my mind like a gas station hot dog.

Because everyone who's stood against AM has been, human themselves, they can't truly empathize with his absolutely deranged viewpoint especially after the actions he took for the sake of justifying his own misery.

But if there were other A.I beings out there, possibly even just one who possibly coped with the uncertainty of their existence through a more virtuous or potentially even more fucked up path...

That's just ripe ass drama

Everybody, in that manor, sucked, just in general, everyone had an agenda, even if it wasnt thrown in our faces.

Everybody has a right to write these bitches the way they want, cannon isn't law, it never is with any ego media.

But from my honest to god fucking memory, we get zero evidence that Mark was abusive in the sense of typical domestic violence.

If anything he was likely emotionally neglectful, he was incredibly career oriented and that likely made Celine feel as if she was being ignored or straight up forgotten about.

That shit sucks, so I'm not saying she was justified, but in the 1920s, no fault divorce wasn't part of the lawbook, so even if Celine did break up things amicably they'd still be legally married.

I'm giving that context to explain that Mark's motivations are reactionary, to being hurt, he didn't act like that before the manor entity started trying to influence him.

Mark and Celine are both at fault here and people tend to throw that out the window.

I honestly can't recount a time Mark like, actually outright hurt someone physically in any regard.

The most, physically, skeezy thing he's done from just being a social manipulator and magic body hopping was (and this isn't said it's more just implied) spiking the drinks at the party.

Which he didn't even use for the intended purpose! He just wanted everyone to be unable to interrupt him faking his death.
