It's been a while since I've posted here, so here's a life update. I've received a cruise contract to play drums around the Caribbean and Northern Europe for 5½ months! I'm thinking of starting a vlog so if you're interested in seeing that possibly let me know, or if you have any questions about being a cruise musician send me a message/ask! 😄
Update: I got the contract offer! Just got to sign it when it comes in. I'll be playing aux percussion at Dorney Park this summer for their Grand Carnival celebration, so stoked. This will be my first professional music contract of my career🎊🎉
So after thinking, I've decided this blog will morph into my personal performance blog
Basically I'll post more videos and photos of my musical journey and yes there will be memes sprinkled in.
The main reason is I graduated hs in 2014, started college late and haven't been in a classical-like ensemble in a while. I'm out of touch with some memes plus I think it's time to move on.
My other blog @marchingbandmemeshashtag will remain as the meme blog.
All that being said if you would like to follow me other than here:
What should I do with this blog? I'm not in ensemble anymore, I graduated in 2014. Kinda lost lol. Give it away? Turn it into a personal music page? Just keep vibing?
I forgot l forgot I made this blog so long ago people don't know what I play till I got asked recently 😅 So this is me playing Schuyler Sisters from @hamiltonthemusical
Just wondering, whats the most difficult piece you've ever played?
Band wise:
anything with constant important mallet percussion basically lol, but probably Foundry playing timpani & learning the mallet part for The Inferno
Jazz wise: drumset-
1. Giant steps, if you know. You know. Mostly the speed.
2. Afrocuban & latin rhythms are my weakest point. I can play them but ugh it took a while semester of lessons to geta grip on just the basic patterns
Musical theater wise:
1. The Temple -drumset (Jesus christ superstar) due to the 7/8 that gradually speeds up. And I was so bad at odd meter at the time
2. Schuyler Sister's - Hamilton - drumset
Took me a while to get the correct rhythm on the drums the way Andre played it on the cast recording. But I got it down after a couple weeks of gridnding
Started this with my group of friends already but maybe I can start another one?
I been thinking of putting together a virtual pit for Broadway. Basically, we each record our part and sync it together in a multicam video. For example, I'm working on I Know It's Today from Shrek with my friends. If anyone would be interested, instrumentalists & vocalist, please like the post so I can see if this is something everyone would like to do! We could all vote on what song to cover when it happens.
