MAJOR UPDATES!! [4.5.2025]

hiii everyoneeee!!

it's been about 6 months! it's been busy, chaotic, and my time have been limited. today I finally can update yall briefly!

biggest news first!

I got into the school I wanted! so i moved to the place and now I'm a masters student in neuroscience!

its hard so far...but i made it? my gre scores were...um...ehhhhh but it seems that my statement of purpose and letters of recs were convincing!

I am a bit apprehensive about my performance in school. my study habits are still not as solidified as i wanted it to be. but i'm surviving,

to be honest, thats all i got lol. I have been just grinding on school work

I sent in my application to one universtity a week ago. And I took my GRE! it was um. okay. lets just say. I think the nerves got to me

Sadly I don't really have much to post at the moment, since I don't have to study for the GRE again.

I'm gonna keep writing my personal statements. I'll definitely update my admissions later!

Today's done:

-math practice (3 hours) -vocab (1 hr)

This week is a busy week, tomorrow is a friend's birthday, and then this weekend I'm going to an anime convention :9

Hopefully that'll give me time to recover from both the cold and period!!

I think i'm getting sick..I ran around town bc the library's wifi was down and most cafes here want you to buy a 5-6$ drink to be able to sit in there. I settled with Starbies instead. I'm not spending that much money for a drink when I got a convention coming in a week and I just bought a green tea drink from Daiso earlier. 😅😅

Tuesday: I went out with family. It was fun, but we were out all day so I didn't get to study. :p

Wednesday: was a bad studying day. I cried over the math problems (I wasn't joking about hating math)

Today's done list:

-vocab (i'm almost done remembering a whole stack!! that's like 51 words that's completely new to me, and then i got a new one to start tmrw...) -reviewed basic algebra

total time: 3 hours

-vocab (and writing down the etymology for the words) -math practice -crying over my big fat fumble

I thought i did so well on the 5 questions and turns out i got a 40% (2/5 correct) 😭

-so then I practiced some more math

i dont like how in math problems they give you a concept to get familiar with, then throw u smth else and expect u to find out. like whyyyy 😭😭

more practicing will be needed, i fear.

Update of the summer!

Summer is here! I remembered I have a studyblr while thinking about things that can motivate me. lol

Things that happened since last post:

-Finals happened, and I made it in one piece! -my big giant research essay got an 80, and my other big philosophy paper was an 85 which were good scores -visited family in California for a month (I didn't like staying so long lol) -moved out of my apartment, staying with family

I did some studying for the GRE, but I'm struggling to be consistent. I figured that maybe going to the library often can help me lock in. Being consistent is a HUUUUGE struggle for me, and being in a new environment doesn't help much. uuu

hellooooo!!

I been gone for a month ＞﹏＜ the cold i caught and spring break reset my habits. I'm back to fighting my uphill battle of keeping my good habits. I never realized my habits could be destroyed so easily, it's frustrating :(

It's april and may is coming up...my last month of school... wah...

The things I wanted to do (my grad applications) have been delayed because I'm always tired, which sounds like an excuse :p i hope for the summer or later i find out why i'm so unmotivated and tired.

Well, here's to getting back on track and making it to finals!

brushed my teeth in the morning and before bed

did the dishes while waiting for my toast to be ready in the morning

started my final project report, bc my advisor said i can start to work on the intro and methods

studied with my friends a bit in the afternoon, but we were so tired we eventually just gave up lol

worked on my java project (with my friend bc he's my work partner)

📺 watching: Fushigiboshi no☆Futagohime Gyu!

so, devilman crybaby ep1 was too weird for me, so i just gave up (pls dont kill me if you love it). so i was just looking over my anime site, and this one looked cute. Im just watching a random ep, probably won't ever watch it again, but i was needing some cozy vibes

hellooooo! Super tired as usual, that's sadly a reality of having clinical depression :'( I been trying to get by though.

Achievements since last post: - i turned 23! - my sociology research paper is doing alright and smoothly - spent time with my boyfriend through valentines and our anniversary- i enjoyed lunar new year with my friends! -I did well on my tests

I did some journaling last night. not rly pinterest-y but it makes me focused to decorate my pages :3

I'm currently at the library and so far I got about 3-4 hours of work done! I feel like that's a win. This week seems pretty empty for now... after all, it's almost midterms.

-wrote emails asking for letters of recommendations -finished a quiz

Surprisingly, the task that are stressing me out are the emails 😅😅 I am terrible at asking for things through emails. I'm using one of my tumblr reblogs and chatgpt as reference. Hopefully that ends well....The thought of grad school applications are alr stressing me out 😭

Weekly update//02.06.24

Trying a new format today!

I haven't gotten a chance to set my goals for the year, and this weekend is lunar new years...I gotta clean my apartment for good luck😅

Last week's achievements: -did all my work before the weekend started! -cooked food after not feeling like it for a week -had social time and alone time -had a self care day, and it was great!

Today:

did some textbook reading

studied for a test that's on Thursday

I feel kinda dazed today for some reason. Hopefully when I'm up tomorrow morning I'll be productive :9

Study Strategies

For everyone asking "What does 'playing' with the material even mean when it comes to studying??"

Well, basically when you think about the material in a way that applies to your real life or interests, or that entertains you.

Writing a tumblr post about it (my blog started out as a study tool when I was in nursing school, because I re-wrote what I was learning in fandom/fic terms)

Talking about it or explaining it to a friend that is NOT in your field of study

Trapping your blorbos in a weird situation they can only get out of by learning the material (I once went through a whole scenario in my head about my blorbo getting injected with insulin and his friend having to figure out how long they had to give him sugar before they died to learn insulin onset-peak-duration)

Flash card "war" where 2 or more of your friends bring their flashcards and every time you or a friend puts down a card, the one that gets the answer the closest first wins the cards (google allowed)

Make a comedy routine about the material using only jokes that would be funny if someone understood it

Order a list of facts from least to most interesting- bonus points if you do it with a friend and you both have to agree, bringing your own arguments to the table as to why a particular fact deserves a certain rank

Finding an old textbook on the material at your school's library and figuring out what still holds up to today's knowledge

Find a group of people on the internet that are really interested in what you're studying and get the latest in DiscourseTM

Make the most misleading fact sheet you can make on the subject, with everything you say being technically true

Make a fact sheet that holds up to the reading comprehension of tumblr dot com

Basically anything that reframes studying from "I hate this and it takes up so much time" to "something I was probably going to do anyway for fun, but this time with more [subject]".

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.
