DAY 52: it's fun to compare this one (S_fake_3) with S_fake_1, because they're almost the same except for two key differences: there's the added line under their eye, which, yeah, they're exhausted, and it's clearly starting to take a toll on them... but the shadow is the main thing that gets me.
obviously in real life, shadows don't just spontaneously appear to show that someone's having a bad time, but i love how art can be more symbolic than that. siffrin's hat would cast a shadow on his face regardless, but rendered like this, in comparison to the original 'fake' face, it adds so much distance between him and everyone else.
i know this is like cartoons 101 and hardly groundbreaking stuff, but the contrast is just so clear here, i love it. and it's great foreshadowing (fore-shadow-ing...) for act 5 :)
