My teenage daughter is a big fan of k-pop (bigbang, blockb, exo, teentop) ... do you know anyone who can post some bday cake pictures of k-pop or Korean style cakes? Also, she wants to spend a summer there in the future. Any advice for young ladies who want to visit there for a few weeks?
Hello! I don’t know of anyone who posts kpop cakes unfortunately but korean style cakes are quite easy to find. A typical birthday cake will come from Paris Baguette (a bakery chain in Korea) I have pictures of cakes I have had from there and can repost them for you. Otherwise I can only recommend doing a google search for kpop cakes. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Good luck in finding your cakes!
Oh and sorry I forgot about the second part of the question. It depends on her circumstances really like how old she is and if she'd be going alone. But the first time I went to Korea I was 21 and felt safe. She would have to be aware of people as people do approach foreigners (though mostly just to say hi and to be friendly) but there is lots for her to do and see and it wouldn't be expensive for her once she's out there. I think it would be a great experience for her as long as she was sensible, especially if she is of legal drinking age.

How did you get a language exchange partner while you were in Korea? i'm really wanting to learn Korean while I'm here, and I know you have experience with it. Any advice? Any websites/ irl classes you can recommend? Thanks!
She actually approached me in the street when I was with a group of coworkers. We exchanged emails (I'd only just arrived so no phone) but I didn't get in contact with her for a while. Finally we met and at first I was just going to practice speaking and reading comprehension with her but then she suggested we do language exchange. But, what I do know is there are group language exchanges you can go to. A simple google search will provide you with groups I'm sure. Be warned, some guys see language exchange as code for 'dating' (if you're a girl anon) but I've heard some people have had success with these. In terms of websites the Talk To Me in Korean podcasts and accompanying pdfs are good. Youtube is probably my favourite resource as well as a good book. Once you start meeting people though don't be shy in asking them if they would mind helping you learn. Most Koreans I've met have been more than happy for me to ask them questions and that. Don't forget they will also see you as a walking dictionary! Also check out apps. I have the Learn Korean Phrasebook from codeagent that is good for counting and that. Good luck, I hope you find something and sorry for the delayed reply. I may not blog on this account anymore but I'm still willing to answer any questions ^^

If you've not watched God's Gift 14 Days yet, get it watched. It's so good! Definitely the best drama I've seen this year.
Yes! I've heard a lot about this drama. It isn't as easy to watch them now I'm back in England as I get caught up in English TV but I've put it on my favourites list^^

What k-dramas would you recommend watching? I don't know where to start!
Okay so there's many I've watched but the best ones were...Man From The StarsReply 1994Reply 1997 (watch this one first)City HunterBoys Over FlowersCoffee PrinceSecret GardenAnd good ones are...BigLie to MeMarry Me Mary (Mary Stayed Up All Night)Beautiful Man (pretty boy/bel ami)You're BeautifulThere will be more that I think of as soon as I post this! And I'm sure some others can comment on their favourites too. I'm currently watching Threw Days which is good and not like other dramas. I'm struggling a bit but don't think it's the drama's fault but more my mood. And I've seen two episodes of Emergency Couple which seems promising.

no, that was the first time i had asked. sorry to hear about that though. seems like you are handling it with grace. keep trucking ^^
Haha I don't know if I was graceful at first and it still doesn't feel real as we're talking so much. It's going to take a lot of getting used to as I had a lot planned for us in my head. Thank you anon :)

If you don't mind my asking, how long were you together before you went to Korea?
About 3 1/2 years before I left. We met at university.

what happened with your boyfriend?
This is my second message asking this. Is it the same anon? Well basically we did the whole long distance thing and I thought things were going okay. There were some things I wasn't happy with but I had all intentions on working on the problems. My first weekend back he visited me (I'm in the midlands and he's from London) and I felt like I'd never been away from him. The next day he didn't seem happy. We had a row but made up for the rest of the weekend. Then we talked about things and finally two weeks ago he decided he'd had enough. I was super angry at first but then we met up again and had one last day in London which was nice. Now we're still talking. Actually he's paying more attention to me now than when we were together! I think it's final but it's nice to still be in contact. So that's it anon. That's what happened to him. He grew tired. I'm still frustrated he didn't give us more time after me returning but he had feelings while I was in Korea that he never told me about.

I don't want to be depressive
But my heart misses Korea soo much. I'm still confused if I want to go back after my sister's wedding. I still got a while to think about it. And I guess I've only been back 3 weeks, my mind may change!

Cute idea, I'd worry about the pages ripping though.

We haven’t been this excited about pockets since we got our first pair of cargo pants!
We made this Scrap Book out of paper sandwich bags, so each page is also a pocket to hold your precious treasures.
It holds photos in its pages and *in* its pages.
