I’m not sure if you’ve answered this but do you think Illumi would see his partner as part of the family or as an extension of himself? Personally, I see the latter! Illumi is like 10000% fucked up cuz of his family, but I also think it’s just him. I love the idea of Illumi thinking that his “love” is purer because his partner is part of him, rather than meshing his partner in with the rest of his family. Though I still think he’d let his partner interact with the rest of his family, he would not teach them to be an assassin/hunter/or a true Zoldyck

Here I can see both sides of it, depending if we're talking about a yandere version of Illumi or no.

In a non yandere version, I believe Illumi would see his significant other as part of his family, I don't think that would change.

You are very right, he is fucked up because of his family, though I still think he would force his S/O into the lifestyle because that's what's expected of them. His mother did it, why can't they?

As for yandere Illumi... I honestly think it could go either way. If he was SUPER controlling, I could see him not wanting to integrate them with his family's way of living for a few reasons. A big one being he wouldn't be able to come along with them every time they're on a hit, it would take up too much time - both his and his Darling's - so it would make better sense if it were just one of them working.

Definitely a lot to think about!

When it comes to illumi, and the majority of fics having the reader as his wife already, it makes me wonder about the wedding itself. With yandere illumi specifically, it’s probably so miserable for reader, having to look up and be reminded that you’re marrying illumi. He’s your husband now. And you’re his wife. Tragic. 😭

The thing is, when I think about Illumi and marriage to his Darling...

I genuinely do not believe there would be a ceremony. At all. Take in mind, this is Yandere!Illumi and he has kidnapped his Darling.

In this scenario, I truly think he'd want things done and sorted as soon as possible. You're his, so why wait for the sake of a big display?

He might do a ceremony if his mother throws a fit - wanting her eldest son to have a big ceremony - however, it wouldn't be where Illumi and his Darling tie the knot. It would be purely for show.

I think he'd break the marriage to his Darling very practically and very coldly. There is no proposal, because it isn't a proposal. It is happening and he's telling you that the two of you are going to be married and there will be some papers for you to sign.

Any resistance, any denial, is ignored. He will stand there with you, in whatever room he keeps you in, and will wait until whatever "tantrum" is being thrown is over.

He'd deny you everything until those papers are signed. No food, no sleep, nothing. Until you accept you are his.
