is it better to put alt text on an image or do an ID underneath?

From what i've heard it's better to put it underneath because alt text may not work all of the time.

Reminder that image IDs do not need to be too long if you are afraid of making a post that's too long!

Hi! Thanks for yuor reblog these two things can change from person to person but in general to long would be more than three paragraphs and would be putting words in non clear ways, like fonts, abbreviations (for example, lmk, meaning let me know), replacing words with numbers (example, replacing to with 2, usually seen in typing quirks.

I hope this cleared that up! Just a reminder that i'm not a professional and there may be some things i'm missing and if anyone has anything else to add it's very appreciated.
