“I mean if brainwashed and conditioned are the same thing as love, then I guess you have a point,” Dylan muttered, wrapping the gauze around his knuckles. She’d seen it too often, women coming in with broken jaws because they fell down the stairs. The men were always so sweet in the beginning. She taped of the loose end and brushed her hair out of her eyes, snorting as she smiled slightly, “I mean, anyone who has ever been in a fight ever would tell you to aim for cartilage, but teeth are great for war scars. You’re lucky you don’t need stitches.” 

“I mean, I don’t know anything about love. So I don’t really know the difference myself. I just can feel when something is bullshit.” Ace watched as she wrapped his hand. He hoped the girl with the guy he punched would come to her senses. He let out a small chuckle at the brunette’s comment. “Right well I’ll remember that next time. If there every is a next time. I’m usually a chill guy, mostly because I’m always high. Meaning that guy managed to anger me enough to punch him.”

“Will there be drugs?” Ace questioned as he glanced over to her. “Because your party will be perfect then.”

“Yeah, yeah it was a joke” he replied, shaking his head in amusement, laughing, knowing that what Ace was saying was right. He had tried to get his friend to try out with him when high school first started, but he couldn’t be bothered with it. “Remember when I tried to get you to practice with me, just a scrimmage, you hated it- put your helmet on backwards I think” Jay chuckled at the idea of Ace running down the field with a football in his hand. “Let’s stick to the stuff we’re good at, you’re right” he agreed checking out the joint in Ace’s hand. “Pass” he said before taking the lit cig from his fingers and putting it up to his lips.

Ace rolled his eyes at the event his friend brought up. A memory he’d rather not relive ever. “I’m still trying to forget about that. I smelled like that sweaty uniform for a week.” He replied as he lit the joint and taking a drag from it. “Sounds like a good idea to me.” He said, before passing the joint to Jay. “Plus I don’t think you could handle my life. It takes a lot out of you to be able to obsess over things as much as I do. It’s not easy being crazy, trust me. It’s a lot of research and drugs.”

Dylan paused and brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, “Well, most men are jackasses, so it tracks.” She dipped some cotton swabs in the rubbing alcohol and dabbed at the cuts carefully, gnawing on her bottom lip. “Did you at least get in a good hit?” 

“I don’t get why girls like guys like that.” He shook his head as he tried his best not to focus on the pain. “I think I might have actually broken his nose and knocked a tooth out. I kinda punched him when his mouth was open. I didn’t realize teeth were so sharp.”

“If you wanted a gentle touch you shouldn’t have busted your knuckles at three in the morning,” Dylan murmured, but when she started dabbing the antiseptic on their wound again she made an effort to keep the pressure light. 

“Sorry, I did know punching someone would hurt this bad. If I did know I wouldn’t have done it. The guy hit his girlfriend, I couldn’t sit there and let that happen.” He commented, wincing at the pain. He was coming down from both adrenaline and drug high, feeling all the pain now.

Jay nodded his head as though this was the greatest revelation of his short life time. It was always easy with Ace, never anything too emotional, but also never anything too fluffy, they both knew how to handle each other and had perfected it over time. “You wanna switch?” he asked, turning his head to his friend. “You could be the quarterback- I could be the loner” his eyes looked hopeful although it was obvious he was kidding.

Ace hopped him and Jay would stay friends after high school. He didn’t want to think about a future without his friend in it. They were different but that made them closer. Ace was grateful to have Jay around since he was always there for him. His football playing friend was the only reason the football team left him alone. “That’s a joke right?” He looked over to Jay who was looking back at him. He knew his friend was joking. "All the guys on that team could snap me in half.” He remarked while he pulled out a joint from his pocket. “Oh and I’m also high all the time. Which means I’d rather nap than hold a football.”

“God, that’s disgusting. You know, when I was in high school I used to give him the benefit of the doubt when everyone came up with those crazy rumors, but now that I’m hearing it from students now, I’m really starting to believe it.”

“I’m frequently in the man’s office for drug related incidents. Whenever he leaves the room, I like to snoop. Let’s just say I’ve seen a lot of uniform catalogs in his desk. Specifically ones for school girls, the guy has a type.”

Jay nodded, lifting his beer to Ace’s ideas of their future. “You know what man, I think I’ll be stuck with Asteria forever, I just don’t see how I’m gonna get out of this cycle” he chuckled, shaking his head. “Locked up for sneaking into a secret government base, huh? So tell me then, why do you get to live out the American Dream while I’m stuck at home with kids and a job, huh?” he asked, cracking up another beer as he finished the other that was in his hand. “I promise I’ll come visit ya” he said, wrapping an arm around the shoulders of his friend.

Ace set his hand on Jay’s shoulder. “Well my friend you gotta be willing to break out of the cycle. Do something unexpected in order to anger the god of destiny.” He held his can up to the open sky. Ace was a master at doing and saying the unexpected. “Because I’m the oddball and you’re the quarterback.” He replied to his friend’s question. “You better visit or I’ll figure out a way to escape and kick your ass.” He nudge Jay playfully with his elbow.

“You know, this is the fifth new cheerleading uniform design I’ve showed to the principal since I became coach and it was the fifth turned down. Does this man honestly expect these poor girls to wear turtlenecks and pilgrim skirts?”

“That’s not surprising he wants them in less revealing clothes. Not because it’s inappropriate, no much worse. I’ve just heard he has a thing for the whole catholic school girl thing. You know, the less he sees the more he can imagine.”

“I’d keep my distance. The government’s probably gonna lock him up for spilling all their secrets.” she said with a short laugh, taking a bite from the mushroom. “Sure does, and a girl like me shouldn’t have to pay for them. Here, history’s next and Mr. Bradley’s a bore. This is gonna make it much more interesting.”

“Then who am I going to tell all my theories to? I mean sure the man says some wild stuff. When you are high, talking to him is amazing.” He chuckled as he took a mushroom and popped it into his mouth. “I can’t wait, this is going to make the great depression less depressing.”

Jay chuckled lightly and nodded at his friend. These were all things he knew to be true. He handed Ace the beer and took a seat, looking out at the field, the bright lights being the only thing to light up the otherwise dark night. “You know, it may be the beers talking or it may just be the face that we’re in our last year- but shit, this is it” he said, thinking out loud to himself. “What are we gonna do next?” he asked, taking another quick swig.

Ace took the beer, cracking it open before taking a sip of it. He looked up at the clear night sky as he listened to his friend. It was rare for Ace to not put thought into something so simple as the future. When it came to his future, he wasn’t sure what was going to happen. “You are probably going to get a scholarship to a school for football. You’ll get a job after, get married, and have a couple kids. While I probably end up locked up for sneaking into a secret government base.” He answered along with a small chuckle.

Jay took a swig of his beer as he sat in the bleachers of the High School football field, his arms crossed over his chest. It was the one place he felt he could get away to where no one would bother him. The one place he felt he could be alone with his thoughts and he was thankful for it. His eyes darted up as he heard someone approaching, the soft foot steps making almost no sound, but in this quiet arena, sounding like loud booms. “Thanks for meeting me” he said turning towards the person, “Want a beer?”

Ace made his way to the spot his friend asked him to meet him at. He had nothing going on, so it wasn’t a big deal to meet up with Jay. Even if he did have plans he was willing to drop them for his friend. “You know I don’t have a life.” Ace chuckled and gave Jay a smile. “You also know I’ll never turn down free booze.”

“So I got free hallucinogenic mushrooms from the guy who sits under the water tower and talks about how the aliens are coming, all I had to do was show him my tits for like five seconds. I’m pretty sure if I ate all of these I’d die, so I’ll be generous and share.” she said, leaning against the back of the high school bleachers.

“Oh I know him, he’s a good friend.” He commented, knowing the man who gave her the mushrooms well. Ace was the only person in town who was willing to have a conversation with the guy. “He’s a real pervert but knows how to pick his drugs.”

katie was sitting there, bored out of her mind, watching television on the small tv in front of the couch. the brady bunch was on, blaring out its’ tunes for all to hear. it was the musical episode, where they go on that talent show and win the contest by singing. the lyrics to it’s a sunshine day was drilling through her ears as the song was playing in the episode. truthfully, this was the last thing katie wanted to watch. however, her options were very slim this year, as none of the year’s television trends were really up her alley. it was either a boat show, a business show, or a children’s show. obviously she chose the latter, for shits and giggles. as she rested her chin on her palm, with her elbow on the table, she rolled her eyes. “ do these kids ever chill the fuck out and sit down ?? “ she groaned.

Ace was high as usual finding the colors and songs from the show entertaining. When he was sober he couldn’t stand the Brady Bunch. Everything was more interesting when he was high. “Sometimes I think that those kids are like robots or something. They just keep going and going. No way humans can do as much as they do.” He rambled, most of what he said was just dumb nonsense. He often went off on little conspiracy theories he came up with. Most people were use to his theories and ignored them.

Hello I’m El and this is my bb Ace. I’m planning on posting an intro for Charlie after. For now lets focus on my dorky little bean Ace.

Ace is the only child to two hippie parents. His parents spent the 60s traveling, taking part in different protests, and doing drugs. When Ace came along they slowly eventually stopped traveling and settled down in Point Place

While his parents dropped most of their previous activities, they were still super chill and major stoners. 

Ace  much like his parents is super chill. Though not really interested in the whole Hippie mind set he is still very open minded

He is usually stoned when not in school since his parents are for weed. 

He is a very good student despite not really caring about school but it all just comes naturally to him

He has an obsession with aliens and their existence. Reading anything to do with aliens and spending most of his time studying astronomy. He has a goal to one day find a planet that could possibly have life
