noone ever talks about how his medical gameplay tutorial is him sitting all alone playing with his childhood toy pretending its his dad, and it drives me insane. that man needs a hug

i'm too tired to present this coherently but i feel like we as a fandom totally brush over how emotionally repressed artemy is. like i'm sorry he wasnt just trudging through the twelve days for a sense of duty or for kicks or whatever, he was a deeply isolated, greiving man trying to fill the massive emotional gap his father's death left him with by scrambling for any explanation or scrap of purpouse he can find.

Expecially in pathologic 2 he's very clearly putting on a facade, even to himself, of being this pragon of streangth and stability. he wants to be the wise, emotionally resolute person he thought isodor to be (and realistically isodor was raising him to be) not just for his own sake but because he knows its what those around him (not just the kin) need.

Like i know i joke a lot about how he's always joking at the worst possible times in patho 2 but that's a pretty clear cut example of a really common thing with emotional repression

And this isnt just headcanon, like pathologic 2 is partially about artemy lesrning how to navigate emotional intimacy enough to love those around him, and neglecting to ackowledge just how repressed he is detracts a lot from this element of his arc.

one of these days i'll rattle off the reasons that i believe contributed to this emotional repression but for now, yeah. sorry if this is incoherent
