Guys...I did something on my own time. I was trying something simple to do and liked a small drawing that Brett Bean did in his “Art of Brett Bean Vol. 2″ book. That man is a constant source of inspiration. Just a short little afternoon project.

And now for something different. I had the pleasure of working on this weird mash-up of Star Wars and Vans shoes. These were made into limited release figures that came with a Star Wars Vans shoe purchase. Sculpted in Zbrush, rendered in Keyshot. Here are links for high-res images. Front. Back.

Finally took the time to make a nice render of the sculpt I did at Funko for a line called Vinyl Vixens. I loved working on these and excited for more to come. I will post the other two that were released in the near future I hope. Rendered in Keyshot.

It's Monster Month! A friend of mine, Dan, has challenged me to make something monster related each day of October. Here are the first two days. Both speed sculpt-ish. Around 1-2 hours each.

Hey all, it's been a while. A little while ago I made a custom Bob Ross POP for the ECCC 2014 Funko Booth. My coworkers and some other artists created a total of 55 customs for the event! The customs recently went up for auction on Ebay and all proceeds go to Seattle Children's Hospital. Check out this link for images of all the awesome customs.

Kind of really excited for Marmoset 2. I played around with the skin shader for a bit and got some pretty neat results! If not obvious, this is the retopologized head of the survivor girl I've been working on. Now to add in some eyes so she doesn't look so creepy. Full res here.

I don't usually reblog posts, but what I do it's to promote my friend's game! Go play it!

Creature Chaos is officially live!  The game I have been making (with only one other person) for the past six months.  All hand-painted watercolor textures and creatures with branching evolutions and special event worlds were you can catch limited release critters.  If you have an iphone, please check it out!  Help me spread the word, because if this goes well enough I can do it full time and keep expanding and adding new things and games.  The game is free, btw.

I love how dramatic this render turned out. It really pops the details. Posed this sucker with transpose master in Zbrush (hnngg.) Rendered in Keyshot. The hands really gave me trouble, hopefully they don't look too broken! Full resolution image here.

Okay, one more for today. I played around with keyshot and made this pretty render. Now I'm wondering if I should make the hair planes fibers. My goal is to pose the sucker using transpose master in Zbrush (shudder) and then get some nice renders out for my website before I continue working on the game resolution model. View the higher resolution picture if you can!

I've been embarrassingly lazy for the past 2-3 weeks, but finally decided to come back to this sculpt and polish it up before I attempt to make pretty renders in keyshot. I've added the rest of the fur to the hat, meticulously added each eyelash, made the eyes smaller and polished up some details on the face.

I think another few days and I will finally finish the high resolution sculpt! At this stage I've moved mostly into sculpting damage on her clothing and props and other high frequency details. For anyone interested, the thing attached to her left hip is the dagger holster, and will hold the dagger in the third image.
The last image is me experimenting with fibermesh. I think the fur on the hat has been frustrating me the most because I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to approach it on the game-res mesh. The plan at the moment is to use lots and lots of alpha planes with a fur texture, though I'm not sure if that means I still need to do some sort of fur sculpt underneath to really sell the idea.

Hooray some progress! I worked quite some time on the leather bomber, made shoe laces for the boot and put some details on the belt! I finally feel like I'm getting close to finishing the high poly sculpt.
