I’m obsessed with plants 🌱 if you didn’t know then now you know 😂

All that aside the growth of plants and our own journeys I find to be very similar. I paint golden scars and open wounds with plants growing out of them to symbolize healing from past traumas. No matter what we can move forward and grow from our experiences.

I hope this painting resonates with everyone who seek to grow and heal in their own lives. Even when you feel like giving up I manifest this painting will give you hope that one day you will flourish and thrive.

Anyone who personally knows me knows I am a huge SZA stand! Before her new album had dropped I was working on a self portrait of myself that was inspired by one of my favorite songs ‘Broken Clocks’ off of her CTRL album.

I wanted to paint something that not only went along with my themes of healing, but also something that showed self acceptance. I painted myself in all of my life phases with multiple golden scars. Scars that I healed from, and that may or may not spread overtime from my traumas. No matter what as time progresses I will always choose myself and love myself no matter how much pain I go through I accept myself.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. A lot has changed. I am thankful for this journey that I’m on as an artist and decided that I will share my experiences no matter how big or small. So here’s something to start of 2023!

Recently I did a brand photo shoot for A Colorful Choas something that I’ve never done before. With my showcase happening I wanted to do something for my brand that will help put my art and myself out there to the world. And honestly they look wayyy better than I could ever imagine!

Lately, I have been feeling stuck. This feeling has been haunting me for almost a year now, and I know that I’m not where I want to be, with my career and independence, as an artist. One day I was at my lowest and while browsing and my time line I saw a photo (bottom left) along with the message from an artist named @b_hunter_ . She said ‘If one does not operate as if they are in the position they dream of, they will not be ready when that opportunity comes...’, another IG I follow @yogaracheal also quoted ‘striving to surround myself with those that I looked up to. Those ahead of me moving at the speed of Grace Full of purpose + light, I’m continually being fed, but I’m always hungry.’

I felt as though both of these women were talking to me, and that it was meant for me to hear their words. I consciously knew that I wasn’t working myself the way I  needed to. I was starving, but not feeding myself with the knowledge that I needed. I wasn’t taking the opportunities that were given to me. Nor was I exposing myself to the world. I was preventing myself from growing. Since then I screenshot the original photo on my phone and it inspired me to create my own version of it (bottom right). 

Since 2016 started I decided to take more risks. Every job that has been presented to me I have taken, and every personal project I wrote down for myself I have started, with all intention of finishing. I created this painting for myself. This pieces represents my faith in god, and myself and that one day I WILL be a successful artist. I will get to where I want to be and my hard work won’t go unnoticed. If I continue to take risks and move with the grace of a higher power I will get there.

Everyday I pray to him, my higher power thanking him for giving me this talent, guiding my hands along the way, and gracing me with opportunities. This is tribute is my reflection of my prayers, and I call it ‘Dear Higher Power’

Hello Loves! It’s been a long time coming, but I finally made my first blog! I’ve always wanted to document my thoughts, ideas, and share my growth as an artist. 

Reading other blogs, from the side lines I always wanted to create my own haven where I speak up and out about my experiences.  Afraid that no one would read, or the lack of confidence in myself held me back from sharing. 

After a long period of not doing anything for myself, and a little push from my closets friends, I’ve decided to start this journey. AColorfulChaos is my journal, it is me, I am a colorful individual whose chaotic ideas keep me up at night and keep my hand flowing with beautiful artwork. 

My goal is post once a week, and to grow from there. I will continue to post and hopefully the world will watch my growth where I find my own personal style, build my portfolio, and develop my audience. Even if no one is reading this, I WILL be proud to look back and see how much I HAVE grown..as an artist, as a person, as Delayna.
