˚₊·—̳͟͞͞♡. IF THERE WAS ONE THING WES TOOK PRIDE IN HIS BRITISH ROOTS, IT WAS THE TALENTED MUSICAL ARTISTS WHO HAILED FROM THE SAME PLACE AS HIM. So when he heard the familiar voice of Dua Lipa as he entered the store, Wesley was pleasantly surprised. Was Birdie doing a listening party at the store? Wes had become somewhat of a regular at Casa Dragones, often visiting to chat with Birdie during his free time or to restock his supply of card sleeves for his growing Magic: The Gathering collection. He expected to see them but not someone else behind the counter. ❝ I already know what I need but, thanks, mate. ❞ he responded politely. ❝ Excellent choice, by the way...with the music, I mean.❞
for @valpostart
location: casa dragones
he hardly looks up from his phone when the door opens but at least turns down the music (the This is Dua Lipa spotify playlist), greeting, "welcome in. let me know if there's anything i can help ya find." of course, he would love more than anything if the guest did not need help looking for something, but he thinks it's probably the correct thing to say. "i think we're runnin' some sorta bogo deal on comics." he says with the confidence of chad danforth of high school musical fame trying to dance for the first time. omar considers, briefly, that maybe he should have read the text birdie sent him this morning concerning opening.

˚₊·—̳͟͞͞♡. ❝ PERHAPS OFFERING THEM AN INCENTIVE WOULD HELP? Like a reward or something. Aren't most kids motivated by that? ❞ Ysla suggested as she accepted the papers from Sarah. As she skimmed through the stack, she realized she might have underestimated the number of kids who had forgotten to write out their names. It was going to be a challenge, but she wasn't one to give up easily. Hearing Sarah's offer made Ysla perk up. She could volunteer during her free time, which she mostly spent at the beach. ❝ You know what... sure, I'll do it. I've got the time and would love to help out. ❞ It was all the more reason to extend her stay in the region, right? ❝ I never asked, but how's teaching the big kids treating you, by the way? Well you know, aside from forgetting to write their name. Are they easier to manage than the little ones? ❞
Sarah slides her half of her stack of assignments, nodding at the question. "You'd think they would have learned by now, at their big ages, right? Let me get you a class list, give you somewhere to start at least." Finds a piece of blank paper mixed in with the others to ( neatly, legibly ) write out a list. "I'm more than happy to put in a good word for you if you're looking for something to do for a couple hours a week." She smiles. Serious or not, the offer is open and genuine. No such thing as too many volunteers "Always looking for people."

˚₊·—̳͟͞͞♡. ❝ OH, DON'T BE SILLY, YOU'RE PAID TO LOOK PRETTY. It's literally what you do for a living. How am I supposed to compete with you? ❞ Aivryn teased, with a smile. ❝ And I meant that with no offense. You're always just so...put together, ❞
Her eyes widened almost comically when he he pulled out her chair for her. It took her a second to register what happened before Aiv thanked him and settled down in her seat. Acts of service were her main love language, and Kaito was certainly hitting the mark.
❝ Are you trying to look more perfect? ❞ She blurted out before she could stop herself, immediately regretting her words. ❝ Sorry, what I meant to say was...—you know what, forget I said that, ❞ she quickly added, before looking away as her cheeks flamed.
After a moment, Aivryn lightly cleared her throat, still avoiding his gaze. ❝ Yeah, no, I'm fine...Well, not really, ❞ she admitted hesitantly. Aivryn wasn't used to sharing her feelings, as they were often invalidated. She had learned to bottle things up, a skill she believed she had perfected over the years. ❝ It's nothing, don't worry about it. I don't want to bring the mood down or anything... ❞ Aiv tried to downplay it, her fingers nervously twisting the thin gold band around her middle finger, a habit she had picked up long ago. The ring matched one that Abril wore. It was a gift Aivryn had gotten them as a symbol of their friendship (more like as a symbol of them being wives but it was the same thing.)
꒰ა ♡ ໒꒱--— " for once ? ah, don't say that, i don't think i could ever compete with you. " high praise from a man who makes great effort to consistently be the prettiest in the room. he thinks it's sweet how aivryn smiles when he compliments her like that, and he's always happy to make a friend smile. and aivryn deserves it. " of course, i'm only telling the truth — oh, thank you — i just threw this on. " that's a complete lie. he spent two hours getting ready, because he always does.
he pulls aivryn's chair out for her when they go to sit down, pushing her in before going to slide into the seat across from her. a bright smile sent her way, " i'm good, i'm glad you could come out today because i really did not want to spend all day at the gym again — " as if he's forced. his eyes immediately flick up to meet hers, though, softening at the same time his tone does, " needed company ? how come, are you okay ? "

˚₊·—̳͟͞͞♡. MUCH TO AIVRYN'S DELIGHT, THEY DIDN'T NEED A PASSWORD TO GET IN. The details of how they had found the right church and entered already a blur. The surge of adrenaline had drowned out the specifics, leaving only a vague memory of nervous anticipation. She was thankful they didn't have to answer some question to get in or else that would've been a problem.
Aiv jumped up and down as the music grew louder the moment they got inside. Some Taylor Swift remix that she was positive Noah had a hand in. She couldn't resist glancing around, hoping to catch a glimpse of a familiar face amidst the sea of strangers. ❝ Do you think we'd see anyone we know? ❞ she half-shouted over the music, as they navigated through the crowded area. Aivryn's mind raced with excitement as she clung onto Astrid's arm. She tried to sound casual but Aivryn couldn't help but wonder if they might bump into a certain someone whom she had a crush on.
⋆.˚ there’s a soft hmm, it’s clearly dramatized demonstrating astrid’s faux state of reflection at the sound of aiv’s question. ❝ i actually don’t really know. if they do ask for a password what do you think it’d be ? something like the dj’s favorite fruit ? or like.. how many rivers are in chile ? perhaps even your mother’s maiden name ? ❞ her response is posed as a joke but it causes some actual doubts to flourish, what if after all this work to find the club, they weren’t even allowed in? the thought leaves as soon as it comes, her steps halted by the feeling of aivryn hitting the metaphorical brakes. astrid was no good when it came to directions but she tried her best to place the pieces of the image she’d seen on instagram to any churches that may have been nearby ( courtesy of google maps ) it’s fruitless with most of them blending in her mind all too similar to the last. but victory is found in the overarching location of them all; lined up a matter of blocks apart. they’d have to run into it eventually. it was enough to fuel astrid. she grins, bumping her hip into aivryn’s, ❝ i think i know where it should be ! if it’s not the first church we come across, then it’s the one on the next block.. or the one after that. but we’ll find it ! ❞ she chirps, arms still linked with aivryn as she led them onwards. ─ ✶⋆.˚

˚₊·—̳͟͞͞♡. WITH THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL THEY CONSUMED, MAL WAS SURPRISED THEY HAVEN'T MADE OUT YET. Typically, they'd be all over each other the moment they were alone, but tonight seemed different. Esme's behavior was strange and didn't go unnoticed by the blonde. The late night 'hangouts' became less frequent. She wasn't jealous of course. More like curious about Esme's whereabouts. ❝ Oh, did I? Funny, because I thought that was a code word for a hookup, but okay. ❞
Mallory raised a brow as she observed her. There was something different about Esme she couldn't quite place. ❝ Mhm, I was ready to seduce the answer out of you but you made it easier I guess, ❞ Mal smirked at Esme before continuing. ❝ So, tell me what's going on with you? I haven't heard from you in like...days. Had the rooftop to myself for a few nights now, I was beginning to feel lonely...You found someone better in bed than I am? ❞
꒰ა ♡ ໒꒱ --— it's rare that esme divulges her feelings so early in the night. usually that's reserved to happen after her and mallory's ... trysts, though for once she's not feeling that. she raises an eyebrow as she pops a mini peanut butter cup in her mouth ( the superior type of candy, if you asked her ), shrugging, " didn't you say you had stuff to tell ? think i'd rather hear that first. "
she's happier right now, more open from the alcohol — it shows in the dopey smile she sends mal's way, grabbing the bottle of rum between them to take another swig. she lays back against the blanket they'd brought, then, eyes meeting the stars. immediately she turns her eyes back to mal, because the stars remind her of other things, now, annoyingly, " ask away. i'm an open book. " punctuated by another giggle. really, who does she think she's fooling ?

˚₊·—̳͟͞͞♡. ❝ AN INSTANT HEADLINER. You'd be forever known as the only woman who got the great Mallory Jade down on her knees. You'd wear that like a badge of honor wouldn't you. ❞ She mused, a teasing smile appearing on her lips.
❝ Yeah well…there's this bowling thing Drew set up. It was a double date thing and since I don't have a partner I invited a friend. A male one. Could you believe it? He then turns out to be Luna's ex-something. Had to pry that information out from him. But God, I cannot wait for mess. Oh and someone kissed me at the festival. ❞ Mal said it all so casually as she waved a dismissive hand.
❝ Honey? ❞ Her brow quirked upon hearing the title. ❝ Interesting title. 'Taste sweet like honey', is that it? ❞ She smirked, the innuendo not lost in her words. ❝ And writing a song about this girl right away? Baby, you are down bad. ❞ Mallory felt genuinely happy for Salem, noticing a glow about her and something different in her smile. If anyone deserved happiness, it was Salem. ❝ Ooohhh, say less babe! We could totally work something out and you know it's been a while since we sang together. ❞
"the mallory jade getting on her knees and begging for forgiveness would be a wild sight. imagine the commotion it would cause online." salem teased before taking a sip of her coffee. "staying out of trouble? for some reason i don't believe you. there's got to be more." she found it hard to believe mallory hadn't been up to anything interesting since they last saw one another. the pair was wild but the other was typically always up to something. "the song?" salem said enthusiastically. "it's called honey and it's pretty much done. i think i'm gonna leave it real stripped down and acoustic and release it like that. i wrote it about that girl i was telling you about." it was refreshing for salem to talk about working on new music again without any pressure surrounding it. "i was struggling for the longest time but now i have all these feelings i need to work through you know? i'm just trying to sort through everything i'm feeling in a healthy way. speaking of which we need a collab."

˚₊·—̳͟͞͞♡. SEEING LUNA CRY WASN'T SOMETHING ENZO ENJOYED WITNESSING...okay, maybe he enjoyed it just a little. It wasn't that he took pleasure in her pain; he wasn't that cruel. But there was a part of him that felt vindicated seeing the tear escape her eye. It wasn't that he wanted them back, but seeing Luna happy with someone else stirred something in him, something he couldn't quite define. It was a mix of jealousy, regret, and a desire for revenge. If he couldn't be happy, then why should she?
Manipulating Luna wasn't something Enzo took lightly, but in moments of insecurity, she was most vulnerable to his influence. He recognized the signs—the probing questions, the glistening eyes, the tremble in her voice—and he exploited them shamelessly. It wasn't right, but in the heat of the moment, morality took a backseat to his desire for vindication.
❝ Would it have been different if we were in a relationship? ❞ His voice was quiet. Before he could stop himself, his hand reached out to brush the stray tear that had made its way down her face. But he didn't linger long enough as he knew they wouldn't like it if he touched her. Enzo knew it was a risk touching Luna but he couldn't help it. ❝ Is your relationship with Drew as perfect as you dreamed ours should've been? ❞ Then it dawned on him, something he should've noticed the first time. ❝ He doesn't know about us, does he? You're afraid if he did then this 'perfect relationship' would go up in flames. Is that it? ❞
his voice grated against their skin like nails clinging for dear life onto something slipping away. the belief that they'd been right about themselves the entire time, the fact that it was enzo who made her realize it, the knowing they had no idea how to be anything different; it only made them feel worse. there was a gnawing within her to text her siblings, to text drew; to get immediate reassurance that something they believed to be an issue actually wasn't. but that's where the problems had started, no ? her constant need to be reminded that she hadn't been doing anything wrong. or maybe, she'd just been looking for someone to tell them that they had been doing everything wrong. enzo was just the first to be honest.
closure ? luna wouldn't exactly call it that. they still felt slighted by the way enzo had treated them; humiliated them. he took something away from her she wouldn't be getting back, made her question herself. the damage of their time with him still lingered and found itself in her relationship today, but at least they could acknowledge their part in it now too. at least enzo had been honest with them about something. " no, they wouldn't have. and you're not sorry for it. " luna knew she was a cry baby. it didn't take much to solicit the reaction out of them, and despite years of trying to keep it hidden they never could master the art of bottling it up. but they didn't want his sorry or sympathies just because they were crying.
" we're not going to sit here and pretend like this is some big ' in another life ' scenario because it isn't. we were never in a relationship anyway, right ? " they threw his own version of things back at him as she raised their shoulders into a shrug and ignored the stray tear that ignored her request to stay in place. " i had to learn what i was doing wrong with you so that i wouldn't make mistakes with drew, that's all it was. " luna needed to believe that everything happened for a reason. that there were answers to everything situation they found themselves in because they couldn't handle the senselessness of the hurt. it had to be for something. " the kind of man he is isn't any concern of yours. he's nothing like you and that's already a fantastic start. "

˚₊·—̳͟͞♡. ❝ LET'S GET YOU BOTH THEN. One to eat on the drive and the other for you to take home. Sound good? ❞ Enzo glanced over at her with a smile before returning his focus to the road. There was something about Ximena that made him want to give her everything she asked for, though he couldn't quite pinpoint what it was. Maybe it was that damn smile or her big brown eyes.
He found himself bobbing his head along to the beat as the song filled the car, mouthing along to the lyrics without a second thought. Ximena's comment about his friends being mean made him laugh. Vic not being mean? It was like taking the very thing that made the villain a villain. He'd give an arm and a leg for that to happen. And Kai, well, he wasn't mean, but he could be pretty stupid sometimes. Emphasis on the pretty, damn him and his 10-step skin care routine.
❝ Actually, I think it's your friends that are gonna yell at me, ❞ he quipped, a playful glint in his eyes. A small part of him looked forward to another text from Luna, curious about how she would react. He didn't expect her to text him the first time but it had to mean something...right? ❝ But we're adults, we can do whatever we want. Besides, we aren't doing anything wrong anyway. Just two friends driving around and having a good time. ❞
꒰ა ♡ ໒꒱--— " well if i have the option, then a pint. clearly. and i can just take home whatever i don't eat ! " ximena pauses to think after she says it, though, a little frown pulling at her lips, " i want a cone too, though ... i don't like making decisions. "
oh, right ! seatbelt. she goes to secure it on her own but he beats her to it, and the realization that he's so close makes her breath hitch. it takes her a second to come back down to earth, and the smile she gives him is one of pure nerves. was she in over her head ? maybe.
" thank you. " she says it playfully while she leans over to grab his phone, quickly holding it up to his face to unlock it. ximena immediately scrolls to spotify to put on a one direction song, not even thinking of looking through the phone ( dumbass ), " so are your friends going to yell at you again for hanging out with me ? you should tell them to stop being so mean. " boo, vic. die, kaito.
