tw: parental abandonment, mentions of death — Barely a year old, Wes and his older sister, age 5, were left in their grandmother's care when their parents decided they couldn't handle the responsibilities of parenthood. No explanation of why they just up and left. The absence of any explanation or farewell left a lingering sense of abandonment and confusion, with no closure even as they grew older. — Growing up in a quaint London flat, Wes found solace in Evelyn's nightly stories, which not only sparked his lifelong love for literature but also served as a balm for the parental love they lacked. Despite this, the void left by their parents' absence often made Wes question his own worthiness of love. — Wes was just 16 years old when Evelyn passed away, and it was his sister who stepped up to provide the support and care he needed, continuing the nurturing environment their grandmother had created. — To help make ends meet, Wes turned to ghostwriting, initially starting with academic papers for peers at university and gradually expanding his scope of work. okay, two lil things i have decided to change up in my portrayal both regarding hopper, (bc i really cannot give the duffers any credit rifp).

she considers herself jane ives first and foremost. regarding legal documents like in school, to keep up all appearances she’s jane hopper. but mentally, and concerning her friends and family, she is jane ives. despite some trinkets from her meant to be home, and visits between becky going to hawkins, and jane going out to see her mother and aunt, she really doesn’t have anything of the life she was born for. when hopper legally adopts her, she is so thankful, so grateful, and feels so loved to have a real and stable place to call her own. it’s the first step for her no longer second guessing that she might be given up, might be gotten bored of. hopper actually lets her keep the documents in her room, but does make sure she knows how important they are. alas, she does sit him down one night, and asks him very softly if she can still be jane ives. she wants to respect her mother and be apart of her. she doesn’t want to hurt or offend him, but she thinks she needs to be honest. hopper tells her she will always be apart of her mother, no matter what name she takes, that it’s about how she feels and how she loves. he definitely does not mind if she wants to call herself jane ives, but just reminds her that if anybody asks, she needs to say hopper.

during her presentation of her diorama, it is the very first, and only time she refers to hopper as ‘dad.’ it comes out before she even realises, and has no time to take it back. it’s not that she doesn’t perceive hopper that way, nor does it mean she loves him any less, but calling him by fatherly titles is just not something she’s ready to do. especially in that moment when she believes he’s gone, she figures there’s no point. he’s her family, yes, but just like she feels jonathan and will are her real brothers, she knows they’re not, and as such is never going to call them that out loud. there’s always going to be a part of her that knows she’s an outsider to both the byers’ family and the hoppper family; joyce has her boys, and jim had sara. she knows they love her, just as much as she does them. she knows very well that family isn’t born it’s made, but merely doesn’t feel comfortable calling him dad, and will never refer to him as it with other people.

Hi!!! I would love to share them!!!

It is relatively immediately obvious upon looking at my blog that I definitely see Dream as being Very Autistic. This is for... a variety of reasons which I can explain if u want!! Hob is a little less obvious, but I think talking for hours (?) about the minutae of experience all of the joy it brings is a very ADHD thing to do. ADHD brains essentially work on hyperdrive, meaning that every emotion is going to be experienced with greater speed and intensity than if a neurotypical person were experiencing, which would explain the genuine exhilaration in Hob at seemingly simple things. He tends to hop around subjects when we see him in a variety of contexts, with so much more happening in his head than he speaks aloud in a way that confuses people. This is also a very ADHD experience.

This exists in a balanced opposite to Dream, who seems relatively dulled to emotion and sensory input, experience a hypo- to Hob's hyper-, so to speak. You would think it would create a point of contention for them, but it doesn't because each genuinely want to know what the other knows. Dream wants to know what it's like to look at everything with wonder, and Hob is frankly excited to share that with someone who actually wants to hear all about it. Hob, in turn, has a better clue of what goes on with Dream when he may breach social etiquette because of his own unrealized neurodivergence and is perfectly happy to breeze over as a result. This mutual understanding they have reached is a common one between people with ADHD and ASD, allowing them to bridge the gap in details that would otherwise cause issues to form a more solid bond. Hence, instead of fighting they make out.

   ... WAIT, KIRYU-CHAN? ... Kiryu... Kazuma? The bro that seems to be known and feared by most of the city as the DRAGON OF DOJIMA himself? Mister Big, Tall, and Scary-when-he-wants-to-be-but-is-actually-a-real-softie-when-he-wants-to-be... especially-to-kids? ... Oof, okay, that last one had been a real mouthful, so thank goodness she hadn’t actually said it out loud then, heh. 

   But, anyway, with all of that aside-- it really never was a dull moment with the one-eyed bro! Whenever she actually gets to spend the day with him, it would always turn into some BIG and EXCITING ADVENTURE! And all of it taking place right here-- in the CITY OF KAMUROCHO itself. 

   Though, this might be the very first time that he would get her involved in something like this. And oh, she’s definitely heard (Even seen, if she she happened to be around that area that day) her fair share of anecdotes from him-- when it came to the RIDICULOUS THINGS that he would put the other man through. Itsuki almost didn’t know whether to be amused by it all, or pity them-- that’s right. The both of them. Especially after seeing Majima himself have an ENTIRE MOTORCYCLE slammed on top of him, during one fight.

   But then she would eventually to resign herself with a sigh, at the realisation that BOYS WILL BE BOYS. Even big, scary, Yakuza bros like em’... heh. Especially at the little smiles that she would catch them exchanging with one another, by the end of those crazy fights. As one would pull the other back onto their feet, before parting ways for the time being. Signifying that no real harm was actually done-- much to her utmost bafflement, especially during the first few times she’d bear witness to it all.

   And, with that all said...

   “... uhm in, bro.” Oh, she’s in! Sign her up, bro. On one of your many kooky pranks with that poor, bro! “So, whada we gone do?”
