I passed this man while out shooting in downtown Charleston. With a face like that I knew I had to at least ask him if I could take his picture so I spun around and retraced my steps until he exited the building he was doing construction on. His English wasn’t good but luckily he understood and trusted me enough to agree to let me make his portrait. This was one of four or five frames I took. I wonder what his story is...?

Park uses an 8x10” large format camera and parallel stacks of film to create the bits and pieces of the final image.
