Kennedy nodded again as Ada talked. “Okay, give me the album name and I’ll check it out.” She said with a smile.

“It’s called Joanne. It’s slow in some songs but definitely worth a listen.” Ada said. “So what kind of music do you usually listen to, Kennedy?”

“I think that’s the whole point of scary movies.” Ryder laughed. “Because some of the acting is beyond awful and some of them are just boring.”

“Not all of them, I was terrified of The Boy for a week, I swear I thought I saw that stupid doll around every corner I walked around. Even without music I would be scared but I did really like it. I’m a sucker for horror movies.”

“Yeah, perks of living the mechanic life.” Aleja chuckled. “One of the guys I worked with called out because of an emergency so I got called in.” He shrugged. 

“If I got to be honest that doesn’t sound perky to me at all.” Ada said with a laugh. “That does suck though and  promise I’ll keep it down from now on, I could even put in my headphones to make less noise.”

“Okay listen, I uh,  I know how this looks, but before you go giving me hell for throwing out half of  what seems like a perfectly good shrimp ring, let me explain alright? I have missed both parties that have been thrown since I got here, and yes, the first one was my own fault, but the second one? I blame this shrimp! I was fully prepared to go to karaoke shindig, but I happened to eat a few pieces of this shrimp a couple hours before I was set to rock everyone’s socks off with my karaoke song, and less than half an hour after eating those shrimp,  I was locking myself into the bathroom for the rest of the night. So, to sum up, I’m throwing these shrimp out, a little out of spite, and a little to make sure no one gets sick and ends up missing out on something awesome as a result. Okay, maybe uh, maybe it’s actually a lot out of spite”

 Despite the man having a lengthy and more than unnecessary reasoning to explain his absence, Ada patiently let him finish as she sat comfortably across a couch.  “I’d consider it a service well done to everyone here to be honest. no one wants to eat bad shrimp after all.” She said with a fair chuckle. “But I’m sorry to hear you couldn’t make it, you really don’t have to worry though, most of the night wasn’t even spent singing karaoke, someone suggested a game of spin the bottle instead and it was more just a lot of people making out in the end.”

“Hey it happens to everyone.” Aleja said with a reassuring smile. “Trying to sleep. I just came home from work a while ago.” He admitted

“You’re just now getting to sleep? Crap, that must be one shift you have. Where is it that you work?”

Ryder held the lights out to Ada and nodded. “That’s understandable.” He said. “People’s moods are usually effected by the types of music they listen to and what shows and movies they watch.”

“Thanks.” Ada said as she took the lights from him and set them on her bed. “Yeah, exactly. I think the music is the best part of a movie. To be honest I don’t think a scary movie would be half as scary without it.”

Kennedy nodded. “I know her older stuff.” She admitted. “But that explains why it sounded familiar, the voice.”

“She has a muvh different vibe to her now, shes not edgy and poppy like she used to be. I really like it. You should listen to her newest album, I really like it.”

Ryder jumped and quickly caught the string of lights. “Uh, I was coming to tell you that you ave good taste in music.” He admitted. “Sorry, I really didn’t mean to scare you.” He apologized.

Ada shook her head as she began to flush of embarrassment for dropping everything and being startled. “Really? Thanks, I have always liked stuff that can make you feel good, you know? I don’t listen to the sad stuff much.” She said referring to the more upbeat tune playing. “It’s okay, I can be jumpy sometimes.”

Kennedy had been walking along and lost in her thoughts but had stopped when she had heard music playing. “Uh, I was just trying to figure out the song you were listening to.” She admitted. “It just sounds familiar to me is all.”

Ada looked at the screen on spotify and turned back to Kennedy. “It’s Lady Gaga, her new song, The Cure. I really have been liking her new music lately.” Ada said.

Aleja jumped slightly and chuckled. “Uh, sorry.” He apologized. “I was just coming to ask if you could turn the music down a bit.” He told her. Aleja had bags under his eyes from being at work so late and the music wasn’t helping him with his sleep.

Ada laughed a bit, just at the fact that they both seemed started by each other. “Oh. Yeah that’s no problem. I’m sorry, I didn’t think it was that loud but then again I have kind of had my head in another place so it’s just background music now.” She said walking over to turn it down. “Are you studying orr something?”

“We could share a taxi into town,” he offered. Vic was kind of a regular at the Pill at this point. It was a nice place and it got him out of the house. “And no, I definitely can’t sing either. Doesn’t stop me from singing inthe shower, but I generally prefer to keep my non-talent to myself.“

Ada nodded with excitement. “You mean it? That would be great.” Ada loved when things went smoothly, before she would have been lost but now she was sure she’d make it to the event. “Yeah, I try to sing as little as possible, I think I sound like an animal in pain to be honest.”
