Andie chuckled and eyed him, thoroughly amused. “I can’t tell if you’re taunting me or flirting with me, Captain Sexy,” she teased, tilting her head with a grin. It was only a moment longer before she took a swing, though she was holding back a little.

"Yes, as McCoy said, other patients need the bed, they can't keep you here all the time." Pike smiled, squeezing her hand briefly, "I'm glad you're alright however, your luck or lack thereof never ceases to amaze me."

“You don’t have to, I know that look. It’s the same one you give Jim when he’s landed himself here,” Andie replied, eyeing him as she shifted a bit in the biobed. “I’m fine, Admiral Hottie, no need to fuss on my account. They only want to keep me for observation so that I don’t do anything stupid right away, like try to finish the pergola I was working on right after getting home. They appear to have learned their lesson after last time.”

"Did I say anything?" Pike asked at her bedside, a smirk playing on his lips as he gripped his cane. Looking at her, he did ask, "you're okay though, right?"

"A little bit of both," He chuckled before she punched him, "oof, that was a pretty clean hit, won't lie." He held his fists up again and said, "but you're pulling your punches, go on, give it what you got."

"Have you actually be discharged from the hospital?"

"You need a doctor - not that I'm complaining if you die!"

"How come you're always the one getting shot?"

"I'm going to need a rabies shot!"

Pike looked to his wife, reaching across the table he squeezed her hands, "you were lost, Maria. . .no one can judge what you or your crew did in order to survive." He squeezed her hand and said, "we all have skeletons, it doesn't make you any less of a person."

"Are you really alright, or 'not ready to talk about it' alright?"

Pike sat on his porch and looked at her as she commented. He wanted to tell her, he really did, but knew he couldn't drag her down this hole with him. She didn't deserve that. "I'm alright," he lied, holding out a hand for her, "work has just been heavy, it's nice to be at home and getting some fresh air."

"That's true," Pike commented, standing in the middle of their living room holding his fist up, "now are you going to punch me or are you going to punch me?"

Due to how his mother died, he can be quite claustrophobic. He's worked to get that under control but sometimes it's too much for him.

How has learning about your impending doom changed your outlook on life? Are there more or less risks that you’re willing to take knowing how things end for you?

For the most part, I'm doing my best not to overshadow things, but of course it's always on my mind. Along the way I've come to realize that I cannot dwell on it, I have to make good with the time that I do have. With risks? I don't know, I guess if it affects me personally I may take more of a risk mainly because I know it's not my time. However, as Captain of the Enterprise, I'm responsible for every soul on board so I can't just fly off the handle whenever I want to. So it's a balance like everything else.
