On Independent bookstore day me and my gf went to the local indie bookstore and when we left we got to the parking lot we parked in and their was the LOUDEST bird ever singing somewhere and it was echoing off the big building the bookstore is in and I was looking up to find the bird cuz of how loud it was and when I said "where is that bird???" My gf said "right there" and pointed to the ground where I saw the TINIEST of birds making the BIGGEST of noises and I was very impressed. There's no point to this story besides find wonder in the little things.

Thinking about monsters and mythical creatures with human disguises.
Vampires who are always cold to the touch, no matter the temperature or weather. Vampires who are more active at night than day. Vampires who can’t eat or drink anything while in their human disguise. Vampires who are knowledgeable in history depending on how old they are while trying to not come off as suspicious. Vampires who feel nostalgic when they see their reflection whilst disguised as humans because they can’t in their normal forms.
Werewolves who are slightly taller, bulkier, and more hairy than the average human. Werewolves who are ridiculously strong and fast. Werewolves who travel in groups. Werewolves who are allergic to silver jewelry. Werewolves who are natural dog whisperers. Werewolves who are more energetic and restless during full moons and nobody knows why.
Dragons who are unnaturally warm, like a human furnace. Dragons who always smell like smoke. Dragons who are immune to fire in their natural forms and heal quickly from burns in their human forms. Dragons who have to remind themselves not to leap or jump because they don’t have their wings and are more used to flying than walking.
Mermaids who can hold their breath underwear longer than the average person. Mermaids who have the most hypnotic voices, whether singing or talking. Mermaids who are fast swimmers, even with legs instead of tails. Mermaids who always draw fish and other marine life towards them. Mermaids who seem to have some form of control over water that’s more subtle when they’re humans.
Fairies who walk with the grace of a ballerina, almost as if their feet never touch the ground. Fairies who somehow make plants and flowers grow around them. Fairies who always seem to have this glow to them. Fairies who work at wildlife centers and kennels because they can understand the animals.
Just mythical creatures and monsters in human form who are ethereally beautiful but also slightly creepy to look at because there’s something otherworldly about them. If you stare too long, you might catch a glimpse of their real forms through their disguises, whether it be fangs, wings, scales, or glowing eyes as they stare back at you with a knowing smirk.

Black girls and women really be the original mermaids because who else’s hair changes when water hits it. Like we going from silk press to Type 3c-4 beauty. Not only that but we put seashells in our hair! The evidence is right there—

Sad when people make “mermaid/siren core” outfits and it’s a little silky blue dress with dainty silver jewelry rather than layers upon layers of different fabrics and materials that stay flowy and complicated silhouettes and net-like fabrics and whole collections of big layered jewelry made of things you’d find at the beach and a bunch of different teals blues and greens and mixed metals and an outfit that generally makes it look like you were dragged from the ocean and grabbed anything and everything you thought was neat to dress up

thinking about how mermaids would not be offended if you offered them shellfish because they are, infact, part of the marine ecosystem in which fish do feed on other fish/sea life. Mermaids would love sea food, its the only food they have access too. You think they're all vegetarians only eating seaweed? No way, they're half human. I just know they're snacking on shrimp and oysters.

What about fairies that live around rock pools and tide pools and dance in the moonlight and collect pearly shell fragments to use as dinner plates and have stained glass wings with sea weed for dresses and crabs as pets, and sing into their reflections and kiss their siren sisters on the cheeks for good luck and tickle the limpets and lead little girls to the best spots for seeing starfish and who leave hide in the sea foam and play in the early morning waves and sometimes visit their neighbours who live in the rivers and ponds that feed into the sea ☆*゚¨゚゚・*:..゙
