When Steve feels a little better he opens his eyes. The blue of Owens’ eyes calms him. Fatherly affection in a foreign color.

And maybe that’s still on Steve’s mind because Eddie’s body is littered with scars. Lines drawn on skin like a kintsugi bowl, and Steve the golden glue that keeps it all together—making it better, more beautiful, than it originally was.

The figure leans closer, so close he may as well kiss him and part of him wishes he would.  Thinks that press of lips would make it all better. Glue him back together like a broken doll and paint white where the ceramic has cracked his face. Good as new.

Eddie gives Steve’s leg a final squeeze—an apology of sorts—and moves to stand. “Get some shut-eye, yeah? Early day for you tomorrow. Wouldn’t want to be the one to ruin that pretty face of yours. I don’t think Chicago’s population of eligible bachelorettes will ever forgive me.”

Rain is pouring down, hitting the panes of Eddie’s window with violence reserved solely for autumn storms. It’s dark outside, more so than usual around this time of year. Angry clouds hang heavy in the sky and they block out what little light is left of the October sun.

The results are in, and I'm happy to announce that this year's Steddiemas Fanworks Holiday Challenge will feature a set of weekly prompts for you all to choose from. Like last year, there will be themes but instead of 31 days of unique prompts, you'll get 4 a week to mix and match as you see fit.

Those themes will be:

Winter Wonderland - December 1st - 7th Deck The Halls - December 8th - 14th Cozy Days - December 15th - 21st Holiday Extravaganza - December 22nd - 28th Endings & Beginnings - December 29th - January 1st

The prompts will be released in weekly batches starting in November so you can start working on your creations early. Posting will begin on December 1st and end on January 1st. But don't worry, late work will be accepted!

In addition to the weekly prompts, every weekend will include a separate challenge. A sentence starter/piece of dialogue along with a word count will be posted every Friday at 9pm PT, and you'll have until that Sunday at 11:59pm PT to get it posted. These prompts will not be posted in advance which is what makes them a challenge!

Like last year, this is an 18+ Steddie-centric event, but that relationship can take any form, and I am open to working with other pairings/ships as long as Steddie is involved somehow. Just make sure to tag accordingly!

As always any and all times of fanworks are allowed and you can combine prompts with other events taking place if you want! For the weekly prompts, you can do them all, combine them, or just pick the one that speaks to you! There is absolutely no pressure!

writing fanfiction is just. i’m being so creative and original. i’m plagiarizing everyone by accident. i’m a genius. i’m cringe. i’m too angsty. i’m too cheesy. this is not in character. it doesn’t matter that it’s not in character because these are my characters now. i love my hobby. this is the worst possible use of my time. i’m seeking validation. i’m projecting my own personal problems onto this story and i’m barely hiding it. i know so many words and i’m using all of them wrong. im on tumblr posting about it instead of writing it.
